Let's Be Alone Together -Chapter 45
~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~
Early the next morning, after tossing and turning all night being worried about Avery and Isaac, Teagan finally gave up on sleep and decided to go on an early run with Aspen before school to clear her mind.
After changing into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, she put her ear buds in and called for Aspen as the two ran out of the house.
A couple of miles later, she was cooling down with a brisk walk as she made her way back toward the house.
She lowered her eyebrows in confusion and pulled the ear buds from her ears when she saw Jackson at the side of her house, tossing pebbles at her window.
She came to a stop and chuckled as she waited to see what he would do next, but when she saw him getting ready to climb up the side of her house, she called out his name and begin to walk toward him.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Jackson asked confused.
"I was out for a run with Aspen." Teagan answered then added with a laugh, "But better question is, what are you doing at my house this early in the morning?"
Jackson open his mouth to answer, but before he could say a word, Aspen ran over to him, happy to see him until he got closer to him then instantly his mood changed as he began to growl at him.
"Aspen!" Teagan called out, as she grabbed his collar and pulled him back.
The two looked down at the dog in confusion, he had never growled at Jackson before. Teagan told Jackson to hold on, as she walked Aspen to the front door and put him inside the house.
Then she grabbed herself and Jackson a bottle of water then met him back outside on the porch, he thanked her as he took a sip of the drink.
"Is he ok?" Jackson asked, worried something was wrong with the dog.
"Yeah. He's been fine, I don't know why he did that." Teagan said back.
"Maybe he got up on the wrong side of the bed." Jackson joked.
"Yeah maybe." Teagan said with a small laugh, as she took a sip of her water.
"I didn't realize you still took Aspen out for early morning runs." Jackson said, worried about her being out there alone.
"I don't do it every morning, but sometimes I just need to clear my mind." Teagan explained, as she sat down on the top porch step.
"Is everything ok?" Jackson asked, as he sat down beside her.
"You mean other than my best friend being devastated and my other friend in hiding cause everyone thinks he killed his dad." Teagan answered sarcastically.
When Jackson shot her a confused she added, "Avery and Derek broke up yesterday and I'm sure you already heard about the Isaac stuff."
"That sucks about Avery, but she's better off without him." Jackson said, then added, "And yeah, the Isaac stuff is actually why I'm here. I heard he broke out and figured he had some help."
"So what you're here for information and to nark on me?" Teagan asked, then said, "Isaac didn't kill his dad."
"Seriously? You think I would do that to you?" Jackson asked, as he shot her a look. "I came to check on you. I figured you were involved and I just wanted to make sure you were ok."
"I'm fine. I'm just worried for Isaac." Teagan said softly, as she looked down at the ground, missing the angry look on Jackson's face.
Jackson clenched his jaw, trying not to snap at her, then said, "Well, if Lahey is innocent like you think, then he'll be ok."
"It's not just the stuff with his dad that I'm worried about." Teagan said. When Jackson shot her a confused look, she leaned forward to whisper, "Derek bit Isaac. He's a werewolf now."
Jackson shook his head with a bitter chuckle. This was just great. Not only was Lahey taking his girl, but now he's a werewolf too.
He was taking everything that belonged to him. He needed to talk to Derek, get him to bite him again or something since the first bite apparently didn't work, nothing happened to him the night before, he even had it on camera to prove it.
"Jackson…are you ok?" Teagan asked him, when she saw the look on his face. She was really starting to worry about him.
There was something going on with him and she had been so worried about everything else, she hadn't been checking on him like she should have been.
When he didn't answer her, she reached out and placed her hands on top of his, then asked, "Jackson if there is something going on with you, you'd tell me right?"
Jackson blinked, coming out of a daze, as he turned to look at her. He couldn't tell her what was going on. She never even wanted him to get the bite, so instead he lied and said, "Yeah, of course I would tell you."
"Ok, good." Teagan said with a smile, then added, "I know with everything else going on I haven't been a good friend to you lately, but I'm here for you Jackson."
"And I'm here for you too." Jackson said back, as he placed a hand on the side of her face, cupping her cheek.
He smiled when she leaned into his touch just like she'd always done. He didn't know what was going on with her and Lahey at the moment; other than knowing they had been hanging out more lately.
But with him on the run from the police that had to put a damper on any kind of relationship between them, making it a perfect time for him to swoop in and get her back.

Avery had missed the first half of the school day, she'd had been gathering all of Derek's belongings from her room.
Her plan was to use the box of his things as an excuse to talk to him, but once she got there she was going to apologize for the night before.
She waited until it was almost time for lunch before she loaded the box into her car and headed to school.

"Have you gotten a call or a text from her?" Stiles asked as he met Teagan at her locker.
Teagan was already checking her phone when he approached her.
"Nothing, I'm about to skip the rest of the day and go see her. I'm really starting to freak out." Teagan admitted.
Stiles rubbed a hand nervously over his hair, "I almost left when she wasn't in chemistry."
"She asked for time alone and I want to respect that." Teagan said softly.
"I know." He nodded in agreement.
They talked and debated between them on whether they should ditch the rest of the school day to check on their friend.
"What the hell is going on?" Teagan mumbled as she heard a guy whistle from down the slightly crowded hallway.
Stiles shrugged not even turning around as he checked his phone again to see if Avery had texted him, but she hadn't.
Teagan tried to ignore the whistling she was hearing, she was afraid to look up when hearing those noises after her accidental bra-flashing of the lacrosse team.
But when she heard catcalls and wolf-whistles, she angrily looked behind her to see if they were being obnoxious to her.
"Oh my god…" Teagan said her brown eyes wide.
"I'm skipping the rest of the day." Stiles decided as he tucked his phone in his pocket.
"Uh…no need." Teagan said.
Confused Stiles looked up to see Avery walking towards them.
"Holy…" his voice trailed off, he'd expected her to come into school in pajamas or sweatpants, after all she'd just broken up with the guy she loved.
But Avery was wearing a short, tight leather skirt with a skin tight dark red tank-top with black rose designs on it, and she'd completed her outfit with a pair of black stiletto heels.
Stiles mouth hung open as she neared them, ignoring all the guys checking her out.
"Hey." She said, her glittery red lips curving up into a smile as she looked at them.
"H…ha…hey." Stiles finally managed to find the right word.
"A… are you alright?" Teagan asked her, concerned.
"I'm fine." She responded, the smile never leaving her face.
"You look fine." Stiles blurted out, eyeing her again.
She smirked at his response and looked to Teagan who was staring at her with a concerned look on her face.
"Guys, this is me we're talking about. Why the hell would I sit at home stuffing my face with chocolate ice cream and peanut butter? It's not like it's the first time things haven't worked out with a guy and I'm sure it won't be last either." She calmly said, trying to hold it all together.
"A." Teagan said shaking her head back and forth, knowing how upset Avery was really was.
She knew if her best friend continued to hold everything in that when it all did hit her it would be a disaster.
"Bottom line; Derek Hale isn't bawling his eyes out into a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream, so why should I?" she asked them with arched eyebrows.
Teagan's eyes traced her best friends face; her make-up was flawless and her hair was laying in shiny, full waves.
"Let's go eat." Avery said to them as she stepped between Stiles and Teagan looping an arm with each of them as she pulled them towards the cafeteria.
Teagan nodded and managed a smile deciding that if was going to help Avery to act fine in public then she'd let her put on a show, but once they were alone and away from the public eye Teagan was going to make sure that Avery knew she wasn't buying the act.
After they got their lunch and sat down at a table Stiles explained to Avery what she'd missed in chemistry that morning and the 3 talked amongst themselves.
Scott sat down and moments later he raised his head and looked around.
"What?" Stiles asked his best friend.
"There's another werewolf…" He breathed out his voice a hushed whisper.
When the lunchroom got quiet the same way it had minutes earlier when Avery walked in, they looked up to see Erica walking in the room in a white tank top, black leather skirt, leather jacket and leopard print high heels.
Erica scanned the lunchroom and then leaned over a classmate's tray as she took his apple and bit into it, looking back around the room; feeding from the attention.
Stopping next to their table Lydia said, "What the holy hell is that?"
"I don't know, but I think I want to kill it." Avery said her eyes narrowed at her blonde classmate.
As Erica turned to leave the room every guy watched her walk away.
"Hmm, yeah. I'll help." Lydia agreed with Avery's comment.
Scott, Stiles, Teagan and Avery all stood up and rushed after her.
As the group of four stood on the steps outside of the school, Teagan reached down and took her friends hand when they saw Erica get into the passenger seat of Derek's car.
Seeing what Teagan did Stiles reached down and grabbed her other hand, Avery looked between her friends with a small smile knowing no matter what she had them.
Derek watched Avery closely from his car to see her reaction.
Earlier that day he'd turned Erica, he was desperate to build his pack and teenagers with low self-esteem were easy targets.
Plus he knew it would bother Avery if he turned a girl.
She cursed herself in her head for thinking that she had been planning to apologize to him at the end of the school day.
Seeing her clutching onto her friends hands, Derek smugly smiled at them. He knew if he could get Avery to feel the way it'd made him feel to see her with another guy that she'd come back to him; they'd be even.
Pulling her hands free she took a few steps down the stairs as she said, "Derek, I need to talk to you for a moment."
Stiles thought about turning around to go back inside of the school, the last thing he wanted to do was see Avery begging for Derek to take her back.
He thought to himself what an idiot Derek was in the first place for thinking anything was more important than her.
Teagan bit down on her bottom lip, she wanted to run after Avery and drag her back in the school knowing that if Avery broke down in front of him she'd never be able to let it go.
Her fists clenched in anger at the thought of how much Derek had hurt her best friend, she wanted to go over there and punch him in the face. But she knew it'd probably only break her hand and not cause him any pain.
They watched as Derek followed Avery over to her car where she opened the trunk and pulled out a box, shoving it into his arms.
"What's happening?" Stiles asked looking at Scott, as his friend eavesdropped on them.
"She… she just gave him all of his things back." Scott said quietly.
Stiles smiled, he hated seeing Avery in pain but he loved seeing her standing up to Derek.
Teagan continued to watch them closely, ready to run over at any minute if something happened.
But Avery calmly turned and held her head high as she walked back to where her friends were standing.
Derek looked down to the box in his arms in disbelief, he had set out that day to hurt her in the same way she'd hurt him, but even so his plan was ultimately to get her back.
But to him it appeared like she'd already had his things packed before she even knew about Erica, like she was ready to get rid of him and everything that reminded her of him.
Neither one of them realizing the entire situation was a big misunderstanding.
She refused to look over her shoulder as she walked up the stairs and past her friends into the school.
Teagan crossed her arms over her chest and smirked at Derek as he walked back to his car, angrily pushing the box into the backset.
"He's pissed." Scott said with a smile as the tires on Derek's car squealed as he tore out of the school's parking lot.
