I Promise… I'm Not Okay - Chapter 62
~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~
Isaac dragged Jackson into a small shed like building off to the side of the main building. As he pulled him over to a chair to sit him down, Avery and Teagan walked into the room with them.
Teagan saw Avery holding her arm close to her body and asked her if she was ok. She knew Jackson had knocked her down hard but Avery never mentioned being in pain.
"Yeah, I'm ok." Avery lied, as she released her arm and tried not to cry out as she let it hang down by her side. She didn't like lying to Teagan, but now was not the time to cry about a sore elbow, plus she was hoping it wasn't a bad injury and would ease off on it's own.
"Are you ok?" Avery asked, when she saw Teagan rubbing at her throat and saw a light bruise begin to form.
Overhearing the question, Isaac looked away from Jackson and looked over at Teagan and waited for her to answer. He could see the bruise on her neck from where he was standing and balled his hands into a fist, wanting to beat the hell out of Jackson for hurting her that way.
Teagan bit her bottom lip as she glanced over at Isaac and saw the look he was giving her. The two stared at each other for a few seconds until she cleared her throat and looked away to look back at Avery as she said quietly, "I'm fine."
Isaac scoffed at her answer and walked toward them as he snapped, "You're not fine Teagan. He could have killed you."
"But he didn't. So don't even start." Teagan said back, as she ran a hand through her hair in frustration.
"See this is exactly what I'm trying to keep from happening but you just won't listen." Isaac argued.
"You're right, I'm not listening so just drop it." Teagan argued back.
"You mean like how Jackson dropped you on the floor after almost killing you?" Isaac asked sarcastically, as he folded his arms across his chest.
"Isaac, stop it!" Teagan snapped, then added, "it's not like he meant to do it. He doesn't know what he is doing."
"Great, I'll make sure we put that on your tombstone." Isaac said back with a growl. He was so mad he could punch something. He glanced over at Jackson with a smirk, punching him was sounding better and better.
Teagan opened her mouth to say something back until Avery stepped in between them then called out, "Ok you two, that's enough! Now is not the time for that."
As they both nodded their heads with an apologetic expression on their faces , the door behind them opened, causing all three to look over at it with a surprise gasp until they saw it was only Stiles walking inside to join them.
"It's me, it's just me. Don't freak." Stiles announced as he walked over to them.
"So?" Avery asked, as she looked at him. Wondering if he was able to pour the mountain ash around the whole building.
Stiles smiled as he nodded his head and said, "Yeah. It's done. I don't know how I did it, but it's done. Step two of the plan is complete."
"Yes! I knew you could do it." Avery said happily, as she jumped into his arms. She couldn't believe one of their wacky plans was going to work. They were so close to catching the master and saving Jackson.
With a smile on her face, Avery leaned forward to press her lips against Stiles' for a quick kiss. Teagan softly smiled as she watched them, happy for Avery and Stiles, then she shyly glanced over her shoulder to see Isaac staring at her.
She bit her bottom lip and felt a tingle down her spine when she remembered how it felt when Isaac would kiss her. She couldn't help but wonder if he was thinking about the same thing as he continued to stare at her.
"How are things in here?" Stiles asked them.
"You don't want to know." Avery said to him quietly, as she raised her eyebrows and nodded toward Teagan and Isaac, telling him things were tense between the two.
Stiles nodded his head in understanding then glanced over at Jackson, seeing him slumped over in the chair, and asked, "Is he ok?"
Teagan looked over at Jackson with a worried expression on her face. She knew the ketamine was supposed to knock him out, but she couldn't help but wonder if maybe they gave him too much.
Needing to check on him, she went to take a step toward Jackson until she felt someone grip her arm and pull her to a stop. She looked down at the hand that grabbed her then glanced up to see it was Isaac holding her still. He flashed her a warning look, he was not about to let her anywhere near Jackson right now.
"Don't move." Isaac hissed out at her, as he released her arm then took a step toward Jackson. The more he thought about Jackson hurting her, the more angry he became until he felt his claws come out. He raised his hand to stab Jackson, ignoring Teagan's gasp coming from behind him.
As Isaac went to lower his arm, Jackson snapped awake and grabbed Isaac's hand, twisting it until they all heard a loud snap.
Isaac cried out in pain and jerked his arm away as he took a couple of steps back. He held on to his hurt hand and waited for it to begin to heal. As he waited, he looked down at his hand and was surprised when he saw a small hand appear to lightly caress his. He didn't even have to look to know it was Teagan's hand. He knew it the moment she touched him and his hand begin to tingle.
Isaac quietly groaned at feeling her finger tips lightly run over the back of his hand and up his arm then back down again as she tried to comfort him. He cleared his throat and looked up, seeing the concern look on her face, then took a step back as he said, "I'm ok."
"Are you sure? I heard it break when he twisted it." Teagan said, the worried expression still on her face.
"We all heard it break." Avery added, as Stiles nodded his head in agreement.
"I'm fine, see." Isaac said, as he held up the now healed hand and wiggled his fingers to show them he was ok. "I'm a werewolf, remember." He stated, as he took a few steps away from her to put some distance between them.
It was getting harder and harder to being that close to her, her scent hitting him full force and not being able to do anything about it.
"Excuse me for caring then." Teagan mumbled quietly to herself, as she folded her arms across her chest and turned back to look at Jackson.
Isaac, overhearing what she said, glanced over at her with a small smile on his face, happy to hear that she did still care even if he didn't deserve it for hurting her.
"Ok, no one does anything like that again, ok?" Stiles called out. Even if Isaac did heal, the last thing he wanted was for one of the girls or even himself getting hurt.
"I thought the ketamine was suppose to knock him out." Avery stated.
"Yeah, well, apparently this is all we're going to get." Stiles said back, then added, "So let's just hope that whoever's controlling him just decided to show up tonight."
Suddenly Jackson spoke, sounding nothing like himself, as he said, "I'm here. I'm right here with you."
Without a second thought, Avery took a few cautious steps toward Jackson, Ignoring Teagan as she called out her name. She squatted down in front of him as she asked, "Jackson, is that you?"
"Us. We're all here." Jackson answered, sounding like he was possessed.
Avery swallowed hard as she glanced behind her to look at the other three, all of them wondering what he meant by that. As she turned back around to question him some more, Stiles took a few steps toward her, standing behind her just in case something happened and he needed to save her while Isaac took a step toward Teagan for the same reason. Neither boy was going to let anything happen to the girls.
"Are you the one killing people?" Avery asked.
"We are the ones killing murderers." Jackson answered.
"So all the people you've killed so far .."
"Deserved it." Jackson said interrupting her.
"Well see, we got a little rule book that says you only go after murderers." Avery said.
"Anything can break if enough pressure's applied." Jackson said cryptically.
"So the people you're killing are all murderers then?" Avery asked.
"All. Each. Every one." Jackson answered slowly.
"Who did they murder?" Avery asked.
"Me." Jackson answered.
"Wait, what? What do you mean?" Stiles asked confused, as he took another step toward Avery.
"They murdered me." Jackson said angrily.
Isaac wrapped a arm around Teagan's waist, pulling her closer toward him as he being to walk them toward the door. He was having a very bad feeling about all of this as they all watched Jackson start to lose control and shift right in front of them.
As Jackson repeated his last statement again, Stiles reached out and grabbed Avery, helping her to stand up and pulling her away from Jackson. The four huddled together near the door as they waited to see what would happen next.
They just hoped Scott or even Derek could quickly find the master before he made Jackson do something he would regret.
Teagan gasped and grabbed onto Isaac's shirt when they saw Jackson move his arm and his claws come out. Apparently the ketamine they gave him earlier was starting to wear off.
"Ok, alright. More ketamine." Stiles said nervously, then added ,"the man needs ketamine."
Isaac kept one arm wrapped around Teagan as he used his other hand to reach into his front pants pocket to pull out of the empty vial before saying, "We don't have anymore."
"You used it all?" Avery asked surprised.
As Avery and Stiles looked over at Isaac, Teagan kept her eyes on Jackson and felt her eyes widen when she saw him continue to shift and begin to stand up from the chair.
She began to gasp for breath as she tapped Isaac's chest with her hand, trying to get his attention. He looked down at her and became concerned when he saw the look on her face. Her face was deathly pale as she continued to look over at where Jackson was. The other three turned their heads to see what she was looking at and finally understood why she looked as terrified as she did when they saw the kanima standing before them.
Jackson opened his mouth and let out a big roar at them, causing them all to let loose a scream and begin to make a run for the door. The boys made sure Avery and Teagan ran out first before they ran out behind them.
Stiles and Avery slammed the door shut, then leaned against the door, Stiles trapping her between himself and the door, giving her as much protection as he could.
As the other two stayed near the door, Isaac pulled Teagan off to the side, wanting her as far away from the small building as possible, then went to walk back over to help Stiles and Avery keep the door shut, until Teagan reached out to grab a handful of his shirt.
He looked back at her, her whole body was shaking in fear as tears rained down her face; pleading with him not to leave her. He glanced back over at the building, seeing that the other two didn't need his help at the moment then turned back to face her, pulling her into his arms as he held her tight.
Teagan buried her face in his shirt and took a deep breath, feeling herself calm down when she caught a whiff of his cologne. She felt him lightly kiss the top of her head then glanced up to look at him, the two locking eyes and neither one being able to look away until they heard a loud noise, followed by Avery screaming.
Teagan looked over toward the building, worried about her best friend and Stiles, then gasped when she saw Jackson completely shifted as the kanima had burst through the wall and was running away. Isaac grabbed her hand as the two ran over to Avery and Stiles and tried to figure out what to do next.
They knew Jackson was probably going after someone, but unfortunately they didn't know who it was to warn them.
"What do we do?" Teagan asked, as she glanced around nervously wondering where Jackson went.
"We need to find find him." Stiles answered, then added, "And Scott."
"Or Derek." Avery added, feeling Stiles tense up beside her at the mention of him. She looked over at Stiles, not wanting him to get the wrong idea as she explained, "We need more werewolves to track Jackson before it's too late to stop him."
"You two go that way." Isaac said to Avery and Stiles, as he nodded to the right. He reached out to grab Teagan's hand and nodded to the left, as he added,"and we'll go the other way."
The two couples split up, Avery and Stiles went one way while Isaac and Teagan went the other way.
He kept a tight hold on her hand, keeping her close to him and not wanting to lose her in the crowd as they made their way toward the back of the building.
Isaac came to a stop when he smelled blood in the air. He pushed Teagan behind him, telling her to stay back, as he took a few steps forward and saw a dead body bleeding out on the floor. They were too late.
He turned around, keeping her behind him, not wanting her to see the body as he said,"Come on. Let's go back this way."
"What is it? Isaac, what is wrong?" Teagan asked, as he began to push her toward the other side of the building.
"We're too late." Isaac said simply and quietly.
The two meet up with Stiles and Avery outside near where they had parked, the other two were talking to Derek.
Isaac overheard them telling Derek that they had lost Jackson. Teagan walked over to stand beside Avery and Isaac went to follow but for some reason he couldn't move. He looked down and saw the line of mountain ash on the ground.
"Oh, my God. It's working." Stiles said excitably.
The girls giggled at how excited he was as Isaac rolled his eyes, he was not amused. He wanted to be beside Teagan, protecting her in case Jackson showed up and tried to hurt her again.
As Stiles continued to cheer about his accomplishment, Derek and Isaac looked up as they heard a painful howl coming from nearby. Avery took a step toward Derek, after seeing the look on his face, then asked, "What's wrong?"
"Scott." Derek answered when he recognized the howl.
"What?" Avery asked confused.
"Break it." Derek said to Stiles, referring to the mountain ash.
"What? No way." Stiles said. If they broke it Jackson and his master could get away.
"Scott's dying." Derek called out.
"What?" Avery and Teagan yelled out together.
"How do you know that?" Stiles asked with a worried expression.
"Oh, my God, Stiles, I just know!" Derek yelled, then added, "Break it!"
"Stiles, just do it!" Avery added, as she grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze and ignoring the pained look on Derek's face.
Stiles groaned out in frustration as he dropped down and waved his hands over the mountain ash, breaking the line, and watched Derek run past them to go save Scott.
"Now what?" Isaac asked, as he walked over to stand beside Teagan.
"We need to find Jackson before..." Avery being to say until Teagan interrupted her.
"It's too late. He already... " She said softly, not being able to finish her sentence but the other two knew what she meant.
They were too late and Jackson already killed someone.
"Which means the police will be here soon." Stiles said, then added, "Which means you all need to get out of here."
"What? No! We're not leaving now. What about Jackson and Scott?" Teagan asked.
"I'll keep you two updated. I promise." Stiles said. His dad was already on thin ice and he might be able explain away why he was there at another crime scene, but he couldn't explain why all of them were there.
Avery sent Teagan a look, asking for a minute alone with Stiles. She nodded her head and said she would meet Avery at the car.
Avery shot her a smile, thanking her then watched as Isaac walked Teagan to the car, which did not surprise her to see him hovering over Teagan after all that had happened tonight.
She turned back to look at Stiles as she asked,"Are you going to be ok here alone? Teagan can drive my car and I can get a ride from you."
"Yeah I'll be fine." Stiles said, then added sarcastically, "Jackson shouldn't be after me since I haven't killed anyone lately."
Then added seriously,"but I just can't leave until I know Scott is ok. He's my best friend."
"I get it. I just hate leaving you Stiles." Avery said softly, as she leaned forward to press her lips against his.
"I'm ok." Stiles whispered with his lips inches from hers.
Avery kissed him one more time then leaned back as she told him to call her later. She went to turn and walk away until she realized Stiles was still holding her hand.
She looked back at him with raised eyebrows, then softly smiled as he added, "I'm not ok. Stay."
Avery nodded her head, letting him know she would, then she turned to call out Isaac's name. He raised his head to look at her and saw her throw her keys in the air toward him. He caught them then looked at her with a confused look until she nodded toward Teagan and said, "Get her home."
Avery watched as Teagan tried to argue with Isaac, not wanting him to take her home, until he opened the passenger side door and ushered her inside the car.
"Those two need to work out things and fast." Avery said, as she watched Isaac pull out of the parking lot. She looked back over at Stiles and saw him pouting.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked with a small chuckle.
"Isaac? You let Isaac drive your car now? I still haven't got to drive it yet." Stiles whined.
Avery couldn't help but chuckle at the expression he was making. She leaned forward to kiss him, thanking him for the laugh. After the night they just had, she needed that laugh.

After finding out that Scott and Derek were going to be okay, Stiles drove Avery home.
Neither of them really saying anything until he pulled up in her driveway.
Turning in her seat she faced him as she asked, "What's going on?"
"My dad… he's been suspended from work." Stiles finally said as he shut his jeep off.
"What, why?" Avery asked shocked.
"Because of me… because of that stupid restraining order that Jackson has out on me, I guess they thought it reflected bad on the department or something, they even took his badge and gun." Stiles said quietly, not looking over at her.
Avery looked around the interior of the car, unsure of what to say him.
"It's because no one else knows what's going on in this town. If the police department and your dad could see exactly how much you're doing to try and stop the murders…" She stopped and shook her head.
Reaching over she placed her hand on his and said, "This isn't your fault."
He raised head and looked at her, wanting to believe her. But he knew how bad he'd messed things up for his dad.
"We're going to fix this, we're going to stop the Kanima and your dad will get his job back." She tried to assure him.
"You sure, because I feel like we're fighting a losing battle here." He admitted, hating to be so negative but at the moment the cloud didn't seem to have a silver lining.
"Of course I'm sure… know why?" She questioned.
"Why?" He asked, his honey brown eyes meeting hers.
"Because you're on our team, and I believe in you." She explained, offering him smile as she leaned in, pausing for a few seconds before pressing her lips against his.

After a silent, tense drive, Isaac parked Avery's car in front of Teagan's house. He turned the car off then turned to face her, wanting to say something but had no idea where to start. He wanted to yell at her for putting herself in danger that night.
He wanted to punch something when he thought about how close he came to losing her just hours ago, then he wanted to take her in his arms and never let her go. But he knew he couldn't do that.
If he learned anything tonight it was that he was right before, he was right in letting her go or he feared she wouldn't live long enough to see seventeen.
He looked at her for a few minutes longer then glanced over to look at her empty driveway before looking back at her as he asked,"Where's your dad?"
"He has to work late tonight." Teagan answered.
"Are you going to be ok alone?" Isaac asked her, worried about her being home alone.
Teagan scoffed at the question but didn't say anything, instead she reached out to open the car door and stepped out into the cool night. Isaac watched her in surprise as she walked toward her front door until he quickly exited the car and ran after her, calling out her name. He sighed in frustration when he realized she was ignoring him.
Unlocking the door but before she could open it, he grabbed her arm and turned her around to face him as he asked,"What are you doing?"
"Going in. Alone." Teagan snapped, then added, "I'm not doing this with you again Isaac."
"Doing what?" Isaac asked confused.
"Fighting with you again. Hearing you talk about how we can't be together cause it's too dangerous and blah -blah." Teagan said, as she rolled her eyes.
She turned back around to open the door but before she could he turned her back around then said,"This isn't a joke Teagan, this is serious."
"I know, ok? I know but I can handle myself." Teagan pointed out.
"Like tonight?" Isaac asked, as he folded his arms across his chest, "Or I could remind you of the time he almost attacked you in the locker room if you want."
"Those don't count. Jackson wasn't himself then, he doesn't know what he was doing." Teagan argued.
"Really? Cause it looked like he knew exactly what he was doing tonight. He was going to kill you." Isaac argued back.
Teagan shook her head then said,"No, he wouldn't have. I know he wouldn't have hurt me, I could see it in his eyes."
"What do you mean?" Isaac asked confused.
"I don't know how to explain it, but right before I blacked out, I looked into his eyes and for a moment I saw him. I actually saw Jackson and that is when he dropped me. Somehow I reached out to him and he couldn't hurt me." Teagan tried to explain.
"Are you hearing yourself right now? You didn't reach out to him Teagan, you got lucky. You cannot save Jackson." Isaac said angrily.
"No I'll tell you what I can't do and that's have this conversation." Teagan snapped, then added,"I'm not doing it Isaac. I'm not giving up on Jackson."
Without another word she turned around and opened the front door before walking inside the quiet house. She slammed the front door in his face then sat her bag down on the table by the stairs as Aspen ran toward her with his tag wagging.
She pet on him then walked toward the sliding glass door to let him out in the fenced in backyard. She left the door open so he could get back in when he was done, then she walked back toward the front of the house and gasp in surprise when she saw Isaac standing in front of the door.
"Go home, Isaac." Teagan pleaded with him. She wasn't in the mood for another fight with him.
"No, not until I get you to understand how serious this is." Isaac argued.
"I understand." Teagan said back.
"No you don't."
"Yes I do." She yelled, then added, "You think I'm some fragile little doll that's going to break so you want to keep me locked up but that's not going to happen."
"I never said that." Isaac argued, then added, "I don't think that about you Teagan, you're one of the strongest people I know. I'm just trying to keep you alive."
"And I am alive." Teagan yelled, "I'm alive Isaac and I'm standing right here in front of you. What else do you want?"
"I want you to stay alive. I want you to have a long, boring life and I want you to stay safe." Isaac said, then added, "cause I can't ..."
"You can't what?" Teagan asked, when he paused to get control of his emotions.
"I can't lose you." Isaac softly admitted, "But not just me. Think of your dad, Avery and your other friends or even Aspen. They would all miss you."
"As would I. I mean do have any idea how much devastated I would be if something happened to you?" Isaac asked.
"Probably as devastated as I am now by not being with you." Teagan said back, then tearfully added ,"I know you think being apart will keep me safe, but not being with you is killing me Isaac."
He looked down at the floor, hating to see the tears in her eyes. He heard her took a deep breath as she tried to keep from falling apart in front of him. She slowly released it as she continued, "I've never felt more alive than when I am with you. I care about you so much Isaac and I..."
He didn't let her finish as he rushed forward to press his lips against hers for a passionate kiss. He kissed her the way he had been itching to kiss since they broke up.
The few times he had been around her he had to stop himself from jumping her, but with the way she looked tonight and after being so close to her he couldn't stop himself any more.
Every part of him needed her and he needed her now.
As the two continued to kiss, he rested his hands on her hips, enjoying the leather from her pants, then he turned her around to back her up until her back hit the front door.
He groaned and pulled her closer to him when he felt her lips kiss across his jaw then down his neck to nip at his skin. But as much as he was enjoying her lips against his skin he needed to feel her lips against his again. He grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him before his lips crashed against hers for another heated kiss.
He felt like he could kiss her forever, but when he felt her reached for the bottom of his shirt, wanting to pull it off, he realized this was quickly getting out of control and as much as he did want her he needed to put a stop to things now.
For one, he didn't want their first time to be like this and two, regardless of how they both felt, nothing had changed. Her life was still in danger if she was in his life and as much as he hated it, he knew he still had to let her go.
He went to pull back, ready to tell her all of that, but before he could she ended things first when they heard her cellphone go off. She told him to hold on as she walked past him to grab her purse by the stairs and pull out her cellphone.
She read the text message from Avery, telling her that Derek found Scott and he was going to be ok. She quickly wrote her back, thanking her for the information then slipped her cellphone back into the purse and turned to face Isaac.
"That was Avery. She said Scott is ok." Teagan told him, as she took a step toward him.
Isaac nodded his head, relieved to hear he was fine. Then he looked down at the floor with a sigh as he said, "That can't happen again."
"I know. Things got crazy tonight, but I'm glad Scott is ok. We just have to be more careful next time." Teagan said, as she ran her fingers through her hair. Thinking he was talking about all the drama from the rave.
"No. Well I mean yeah we do need to be more careful, although you're not going to be involved with anymore plans." Isaac said, then added, "But what I was talking about was just now. What just happened, can't happen again."
"What?" Teagan breathed out, feeling like someone just punched her in the stomach.
"We can't lose control like that again." Isaac said, then added with a pained expression, "We can't be together, Teagan. At least not now when things are so crazy and out of control. We just can't. No matter how much I want you, I can't be selfish with you. I can't let you risk your life."
"Get out." Teagan said as calmly as she could, as tears filled her eyes.
"Teagan..."
"No! Don't say my name like that. Don't use the sweet, caring boyfriend voice while you're breaking my heart." Teagan snapped, then added, "I can't take all of these mixed messages so if it's really over then it's really over. I can't see you. I can't talk to you. If you're really going to let me go, you have to let me completely go. Cause it's just too damn hard to have you half-way in my life. It's all or nothing."
Isaac swallowed the lump in his throat then nodded his head as he said, "You're right. I'm being unfair to you."
He took a step toward her then reached out to wipe the tears from her cheek as he said softly,"Tt's just so hard to walk away from you."
"Then don't." Teagan whispered, as she gripped his jacket, holding on to him.
She closed her eyes when she felt him press his lips against her forehead.
The two stood still for a moment until she pulled back to look up at him as she asked, "But you're still going to right? You're just going to walk away?"
Isaac look down at the floor, unable to look at her as he nodded his head 'yes'. He glanced back up at her and opened his mouth to apologize but before he could say a word, she interrupted him.
"Don't. Just don't say anything else and just go." Teagan said, as she took a small step back from him.
Isaac stood froze, he knew deep down this was the right thing, but even after knowing that he couldn't make himself move. He wasn't lying before, it was hard to just turn around and walk away from her.
It was hard the first night he did it when he originally broke up with her and it was even harder to do it now.
"Go! Just go!" Teagan yelled, as she placed her hands on his chest and pushed him back toward the front door.
Isaac felt a tear escape from his eye and roll down his cheek as he watched her turn away from him and begin to softly cry. He watched her for a moment longer, hating that he was hurting her this way, then as another tear fell down his face he turned around and opened the front door to walk out of the house.
Once he was gone, Teagan spun around and rushed over to the door to lock it shut before she turned around and leaned her back against the door as a sob broke loose.
She slid down to the floor, pulling her knees up to her chest as she continued to cry alone until she heard Aspen walk up to her and rub against her hand, trying to comfort her.
Isaac stood outside the door with his forehead pressed against it as he listened to her cry on the other side. He looked down at the door knob then felt himself begin to reach out for it until he stopped himself.
He had to remind himself that this was the best for her. Now he wouldn't be putting her life in danger, although there was still the kanima problem. He knew she wouldn't stop trying to help Jackson, which meant he, Derek and the rest would have to work double time to solve the problem.
With that thought in mind, he slowly backed away from the door then regrettably turned around and walked away from the house and away from Teagan.
