Hostages (part one) - Chapter 65
~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~
"Dad! Can you come in here for a minute?" Stiles yelled from his open bedroom door.
A few moments later Sherriff Stilinski walked in the room and paused when he saw Scott, Avery and Teagan.
"Hello…" He greeted them, his voice trailing off.
"Hey." Avery greeted back with a smile as Scott and Teagan waved.
"What's going on?" he asked them.
Stiles pointed to Matt's picture in the yearbook and explained that he was the real killer.
"No." He argued.
"Yes!" All 4 teenagers yelled back at the same time.
He looked around the room again and raised his voice as he yelled, "No!" again.
"Dad, come on. Everybody knows that the police look for ways to connect victims in a murder, okay? So all you have to do is like look through the transcripts and figure out which class they all had in common." Stiles pointed out.
"Yeah, except for the fact that the rave promoter, Kara, wasn't in Harris' class." He argued.
"Do you all really believe this?" He asked the room.
"Yeah." Teagan said nodding.
"It's hard to explain how we know this, but you gotta just trust us." Scott said.
"We know it's Matt." Avery agreed nodding.
"He took Harris' car okay? He knew that if a cop found tire tracks at one of the murders and that if enough of the victims were in Harris' class they'd arrest him." Stiles reasoned a theory.
"Okay, fine. I'll allow the remote possibility, but give me some kind of motive. I mean why would this kid want most of the 2006 swim team and it's coach dead?" Sherriff Stilinski asked.
"Isn't it obvious? Our swim team sucks!" Stiles yelled dramatically.
Rolling her eyes Avery said, "Okay, look we don't have a motive yet but you have to trust us on this. We know it's Matt and if we don't stop him more people are going to die."
He looked at her for a few moments and then back to the other teenagers as he asked, "Okay, what do you want me to do?"
"We need a look at the evidence." Teagan said.
"Yeah, that would be in the station where I no longer work." He said with a sigh.
"Trust me, they'll let you in." Stiles assured his father.
"Trust you?" Sherriff Stilinski asked angrily.
"Trust… trust Scott… trust Avery and Teagan." Stiles said pointing to his friends.
"Them, I'll trust." He said nodding.
After they made it to the police station the teens stood back while Sherriff Stilinski walked up to speak the officer working at the station.
After a little convincing she let them back into the station.
"We need to look at the hospital stuff first." Stiles whispered to his friends.
"Why?" Scott questioned.
"Because all the murders were committed but Jackson, except for one." Stiles explained.
"Jessica, the mother at the hospital…" Teagan whispered.
"Since Matt had to kill her himself maybe someone from the hospital saw him." Stiles said nodding.
As they walked back to review the evidence, Teagan was quiet she kept replaying the hallucination she'd had over and over again in her mind.
All she wanted to do was make Isaac understand that she could take care of herself and they could be together, she knew now without a doubt how entirely in love with him she was.
As they looked over the hospital footage, Avery grabbed her friends hand and gave it a little squeeze. She knew what Teagan was feeling.
They saw that Matt had talked to Scott's mom at the hospital the night he'd killed Jessica.
Luckily, Melissa remembered talking to Matt because he'd been tracking mud through the hallways.
After looking through the files Sherriff Stilinski saw that Matt had signed a receipt for an oil change at the garage the night the mechanic had been killed.
Scott called his mom and asked her to stop by the police station to have her come there as soon as possible. With enough evidence they would get an arrest warrant for him.
"Avery go to the front desk, tell them to let Scott's mom in when she gets here." He instructed.
"I'll come with you." Teagan said as she followed her best friend from the room.
"Well, we're on the way to solving one problem at least." Teagan said softly as they walked through the police station.
"Then we can focus 100% on saving Jackson." Avery said nodding.
Once they reached the front desk they didn't see anyone.
"Hello?" Avery called out.
Teagan's body tensed for a moment as she remembered being in the video store with Avery before they found the worker dead; they'd almost been killed that night.
Teagan tried to shake the feeling, but she only started to feel sicker by the second.
"Hello!" Avery yelled louder, a jolt of attitude in her voice.
"A… this is wrong, something is wrong." Teagan said as she swallowed hard.
"We need to go, get help." Avery gasped as she saw the dead female officer laying on the floor behind the desk.
Teagan rushed to the door but before she could leave she heard a gun cock.
Turning around she saw Matt with a handgun pointed at Avery's head.
"Avery!" Teagan yelled, tears immediately burning her eyes.
"Go…" Avery said, so scared she could hardly breathe.
"A…" Teagan said shaking her head back and forth.
"Run Teagan." Avery said, her voice stronger than a few moments before.
"Don't do it T, I'll kill her if you take another step." Matt said, addressing her by her nickname as if they were friends.
"Please, Matt don't do this." Teagan pleaded.
"Teagan! Go get help." Avery yelled again.
"I…" Teagan stuttered as she had flashbacks from the night Avery had almost died after Kate attacked her.
Looking over his shoulder to Teagan, Matt said "I'll shoot her to prove a point…"
The end of his sentence was cut off as Avery ducked sideways and grabbed his arm with the gun.
Startled and physically stronger than Avery, Matt quickly pulled his arm back and then hit her on the side of her face with the gun as he moved.
Gasping Avery jumped back and held onto her cheek as blood started to run from her busted lip.
"Avery, oh my god." Teagan cried as she ran to her friend's side and saw the bruise already forming.
"Stop crying and come with me, or I'll kill her." Matt threatened.
"Okay, yeah… whatever you want. Just please don't hurt her." Teagan said as she put an arm around Avery and they walked in front of Matt down the hallway.
"I was about to send a search party after you both." Sherriff Stilinski joked as he saw Avery enter the room.
"Oh my god… you're bleeding." Stiles said as he started towards.
"Don't… don't move." Avery pleaded as she stepped to the side and they saw Teagan enter the room with Matt holding a gun to her head.
"Matt? It's Matt right?" Sherriff Stilinski asked.
He nodded and looked around the room.
"Matt, whatever's going on… I guarantee you there's a solution that doesn't involve a gun." He tried to reason with the teen.
"You know it's funny you say that because you're not aware of how right you are." Matt replied smugly.
"Are you okay?" Stiles asked looking at Avery as she wiped some more blood away from her split lip.
She nodded.
"This is proof that I'm not messing around. She tried to be the hero, look what happened. Anyone tries it again; they die." Matt explained as he pointed the gun back to Avery.
"Now Matt, I know you don't want to hurt people." Sherriff Stilinski said as he started towards where Avery was standing.
"Actually I want to hurt a lot of people. None of you were on my list, but I can be persuaded. One way to do that is to try dialing someone on your cellphone like McCall is doing." Matt said.
Everyone looked at Scott who slowly pulled his hand from his pocket.
"You, put everyone's phones on the table." He ordered as he pointed his gun at Teagan.
Nodding she walked around the room gathering everyone's cellphones and put them all on the desk.
He then led them all into the room with holding cells and made Stiles handcuff his dad to the wall above the bench.
"Tighter." Matt ordered.
"Do what he says Stiles." The sheriff said when his son didn't respond.
With an irritated sigh he shot Matt an angry look and tightened the handcuffs.
He then led the 4 teenagers back to the office with the evidence, on the way they passed a hallway with 4 dead officers.
"Oh my god." Teagan gasped.
"You're just going around and killing everyone?" Scott questioned.
"No, that's what Jackson is for. I just think about killing them and he does it." Matt replied.
At gunpoint Stiles was forced to delete all the evidence from the computer while Scott had to shred the folders.
"And we're done. So Matt all the people that you brutally murdered deserved it because they killed you first, whatever that means." Stiles said, still mad at him for hurting Avery.
"So you've got what you wanted, just let us go." Teagan pleaded.
Just then a pair of headlights illuminated the office.
"Sounds like your mom is here McCall." Matt said.
"Matt don't do this, when she comes to the door I'll just tell her to leave." Scott said, worried about his mother's safety.
"We can tell her we didn't find anything." Teagan agreed, knowing if it was her dad in the situation she'd want him out of danger too.
"If you don't move now, I'm going to kill Stiles." Matt said with a dry laugh.
He led them to the door and pointed the gun to Stiles.
"Someone open the door." He ordered.
"Please." Scott pleaded.
"Somebody better open that door right now." Matt growled.
He readjusted the gun and pointed it between Stiles' eyes.
"Fine, fine… I'll open it. Please don't hurt him." Avery said as she shot Scott an apologetic look and opened the door.
As Avery opened the door she gasped, "Derek?"
He moved his eyes to look at her, but not his entire head.
"Thank god." Scott breathed out.
"Derek…" Avery repeated again, knowing something was wrong.
Just then Jackson pushed Derek into the room, he started to fall face first.
But Scott and Avery caught him in midair and turned him over so he'd land on his back.
"Jackson!" Teagan yelled as she saw him, hoping he'd listen to her but he seemed too far gone.
"Are you okay?" Avery asked as she knelt down next to Derek.
He moved his eyes and looked at her, his gaze stopping on her busted lip.
"Are you okay?" He questioned back.
Teagan looked around the room, a small part of her was happy that it was a full moon and Derek was supposed to have chained Isaac up. The last thing she needed would have been for Isaac to be there.
Matt walked over and leaned down over him.
Derek asked, "This is the one controlling him? This kid?"
"Well Derek not everyone's lucky enough to be a big, bad werewolf." Matt said.
Avery turned her head and looked at him confused.
"Oh yeah, that's right I've learned a few things lately. Werewolves, hunters, kanima's. It's like a frickin' Halloween party every full moon." Matt said as he stood and faced the rest of the group.
"Did he do this?" Derek demanded to know looking at her wounded face.
She nodded her head and she could hear him growl.
"Stop it, you are in no condition to be pissing people off and making threats, I am fine." She said confidently as she stood back up.
"Well, except for you three." Matt said looking at Avery and then over to Stiles and Teagan.
"What do you turn into?" Matt joked.
"Abominable snowman, it's really more of a wintertime thing… you know, seasonal." Stiles sarcastically replied.
With an amused look on his face Matt nodded to Jackson who swiped a claw across Stiles' neck.
"No!" Avery yelled as she tried to grab him, but he landed on top of Derek.
"You bitch." Stiles mumbled to Matt.
Scott started to move, but Jackson stopped him and waved a finger back and forth in front of his face.
At the sight of the venom on his claws Scott stood still.
"Get him off me." Derek growled angrily.
"Oh, I don't know I think you two make a pretty good pair. It must kinda suck though having all that power taken away from you." Matt taunted him.
Avery looked over at Teagan with a horrified look on her face, the two guys she cared the most about were both paralyzed and rendered completely helpless.
"It's going to be okay." Teagan mouthed to her.
Avery swallowed hard and nodded, she needed to believe.
"I bet you're not used to feeling this helpless." Matt continued to taunt.
"Still got some teeth. Why don't you get down here a little closer, huh?" Derek threatened him.
"Yeah bitch." Stiles said, his voice muffled from being against Derek.
"Is that your mom? Do what I tell you to and I won't hurt her." Matt said to him as they heard another car.
"Scott don't trust him." Stiles yelled helplessly to his best friend.
Angrily Matt reached down and pulled Stiles off of Derek onto his back.
Putting a foot of Stiles' chest Matt yelled, "Does this work better for you?"
"Stop it, please!" Avery cried taking a step towards him, but he pointed the gun at her.
"Don't." Stiles managed to choke out to Avery.
She stopped and her chin quivered as tears burnt her eyes.
"Just stop!" Teagan shouted as she watched Avery's reaction.
"Matt, stop it." Scott yelled angrily.
"Then do what I tell you to." Matt said.
"Okay, all right. Stop!" Scott agreed.
When he moved his foot Stiles coughed and gasped for air.
Avery dropped to her knees and raised his upper body so he could breathe easier.
Derek looked over at them, listening to Avery's heartbeat as it slowed down when she saw Stiles was going to be okay. The last thing he wanted to do was be paralyzed and stuck in a room with them.
"Are you alright?" She asked, her voice in a hoarse whisper as she laid his head on her legs to keep him propped up.
"As alright as I can be." Stiles said as his eyes met hers.
She nodded and glanced over to Derek who avoided her gaze.
"You make sure the girls move them into another room and come back." Matt ordered to Jackson.
"You, with me." Matt said to Scott who nodded and started to leave with him.
Shakily Teagan put a hand on Jackson's arm and said, "Jackson… it's me, it's Teagan. I know you're in there…"
Her words were cut short when Matt grabbed her arm and roughly pulled her backwards.
Losing her balance she fell into a wall knocking a picture off, the end of the nail behind the picture cut her forehead.
"Teagan!" Avery yelled as she let Stiles' head down to the floor as easily as possible before darting to her best friends side.
"I know what you're trying to do, but it won't work. Not this time, he follows my orders. You do something that stupid again and I'll kill all of them starting with her." Matt threatened pointing to gun to Avery.
Both girls helplessly nodded as he left with Scott.
"Are you okay?" Avery asked looking at the cut and bruise on her friends face.
"As okay as you are." Teagan responded looking at Avery's busted lip and bruised cheek.
With an audible but unidentifiable noise Jackson pointed to the next room where they were supposed to take the boys.
"We'd better move them." Avery said as she walked over and stood close to their heads.
"Which one first?" Teagan asked looking between Derek and Stiles.
Avery sighed, "I don't know, which one do you want to move first?"
Teagan shrugged.
"I am right here, I'm paralyzed not unconscious." Stiles spoke up.
"I guess we'll move you first then." Avery said as she knelt down and grabbed him under his arms.
Teagan grabbed his legs and the two girls carried him into the next room.
They laid him down and Teagan and Avery both were a little out of breath.
"I didn't think he weighed that much." Teagan admitted as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail.
Gathering her long hair in her hand Avery held her hair up off the back of her neck, "I know right."
Looking up to where Avery was standing above his head Stiles started to say, "While Matt's gone we need to come up with a plan…"
The end of sentence trailed off and he went silent.
"He's right, this is our only chance to talk while Matt's not around." Avery agreed.
Teagan nodded and looked around the room, "Well you brought it up, any ideas Stiles?"
Avery looked to the ceiling with a thoughtful look on her face while she racked her brain.
When Stiles didn't respond Teagan looked to see him staring straight up.
"Stiles!" Teagan yelled before she busted out laughing.
"What?" Avery asked confused.
"He can see straight up your dress, A." Teagan replied still laughing.
Avery took a few steps back and looked down at him as she laughed too.
He blinked a few times and said, "I couldn't help it, you were just standing there… right above me."
"Well he'll be useless till he gets that sight out of his head." Teagan said, appreciating the small break from the stress.
"I will never get that out of my head." Stiles admitted.
"Let's get Derek." Avery said as she shook her head and laughed at Stiles.
"How are we going to do this?" Teagan asked as she stood by Derek's legs.
"I guess the same way we moved Stiles." Avery said as she leaned down and struggled to lift Derek's upper body to get her arms locked under his.
"What are you doing here?" Derek asked them.
"What are you doing here?" Avery shot back.
"I asked you first." He argued.
"Wait, why are you here? You're supposed to be chaining your pack up… oh my god, if Isaac gets out and a hunter finds him…" Teagan feared out loud.
"Isaac is fine." Derek said with a small sigh.
"What?" Teagan asked, shaken from her thoughts.
"He did break out of the chains, but he came back on his own." Derek explained.
"Meaning what?" Teagan asked confused.
"Meaning he found an anchor, something to keep him human." Avery explained smiling at the thought of Isaac being in control of his shifting.
"So he's in control?" Teagan asked happily.
"Yeah. He found his anchor." Derek said.
"What is it that keeps him human?" Teagan asked, wanting to know everything about what happened.
"It's you." He finally said.
Teagan wasn't able to stop the smile that spread over her lips at the thought of being what keeps him human.
"That's so sweet, it's the same way for Scott and Allison." Avery said smiling for her friends happiness.
"It is sweet." Teagan agreed.
"Yeah, Derek's anchor is anger." Avery said looking down to him.
He sighed and rolled his eyes at her statement.
"We'd better move him." Teagan said as she saw Jackson watching them closely on Matt's orders.
With a loud grunt, both girls finally lifted Derek's body up enough off the floor to be able to move him.
They laid him down next to stiles, both of them panted for air.
"Oh my god… he is so much heavier than Stiles. I almost dropped him." Teagan admitted.
Avery nodded in agreement.
"Because muscle weights a lot." Derek pointed out.
Stiles looked over at him with an unamused expression.
"Stop it." Stiles said as he saw Derek.
"Stop what?" Derek asked.
"Avery, you're standing right over him." Stiles pointed out.
Avery took a few steps back and shook her head.
Teagan shook her head and stifled a laugh at the situation, with Matt being gone and Jackson just out of sight in the other room it was easy to forget the seriousness of the situation.
"Teagan should have gotten his top half." Stiles said.
"I don't think Teagan wanted him seeing up her clothes; she's wearing a dress too." Avery pointed out.
"Yeah, I didn't want any of you looking up my dress." She said nodding.
Derek sighed, thinking they had much bigger problems at the moment.
"You should have still taken the top of him." Stiles said looking to Teagan.
"I don't want to look up Teagan's dress, okay?" Derek finally spoke up.
"But you want to see up Avery's dress?" Stiles asked.
"Are we really going to do this?" Derek asked looking to the side where Stiles was.
"I think we are." Stiles argued.
Teagan and Avery exchanged looks.
"Because I thought you said something about coming up with a plan." Derek continued.
"Yeah, let's talk about the plan." Avery agreed.
Teagan nodded and looked back to the doorway of the room.
"Avery! Teagan! Get back here or I'll kill her." They heard Matt yell.
Both girls turned and started to scurry from the room when Derek said, "Wait, we need a plan."
"And let Scott's mom die? I don't think so." Avery called over her shoulder.
A/N- Thank you all for reading! ^_^
