Powerful New Enemy - Chapter 67
~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~
It had been a few days since the night Matt held them all at gun point at the police station, the next day he was found face down in the river, taking them all by surprise. They were even more surprised when Jackson was still acting strange, making them fear there was another master but so far nothing had happened, leaving them all on edge.
All they could do was wait, which wasn't easy for any of them. It was hard to just go back to their normal lives when everything was so uncertain at the moment.
Scott's mom was avoiding him since finding out he was a werewolf. Anytime he tried to talk to her she would lock herself up in her room until he left the house. Stiles was even more high-strung than usual. After being paralyzed and having to watch Matt almost kill his dad and friends he felt helpless and it was a feeling he never wanted to feel again.
Someone else who vowed to never feel helpless again was Avery. She went out and bought more self defense dvds, trying to better prepare herself for what was coming next.
She even went as far as putting a punching bag in the garage and working out whenever she had time, which she had a lot of lately since she had not got much sleep since that night.
Teagan was also not sleeping well and was jumping at every little thing and constantly looking over her shoulder. She spent a lot of time locked up in her room reading the bestiary and trying to find a solution to help Jackson.
She had to save him no matter what.
But out of all of them, Teagan felt like Allison had it the worst since she lost her mother the night of Lydia's birthday party. Teagan and Avery had tried to contact her several times but she ignored ever call and text. She had become withdrawn, wanting nothing to do with any of them and stuck close to her dad and grandfather.
Teagan wasn't giving up though, which was why she was parked in front of Allison's house now. She wanted to check on her before taking Aspen to the vet's office for a routine check up.
She left the windows cracked and told Aspen to stay before walking up to the front door. She rang the door bell then waited as Gerard, Allison's grandfather, opened the door.
"Hi, is uh, is Allison here?" Teagan asked nervously. Gerard had always intimidated her and now was no different.
"Teagan right?" Gerard asked, as he flashed her a polite smile.
"Yes sir." She said nicely.
"Come on in. Allison is in the kitchen." Gerard said, as he stepped aside and gestured for her to come inside.
Teagan nodded her head in thanks as she walked in to the house and begin to walk toward the kitchen. She glanced behind her and swallowed hard when she noticed Gerard walking behind her, making her even more nervous than she was before.
"We can mark that out. I checked it last night and they're not there." She heard Allison faintly say as she got closer.
"There aren't many other places we can check. Don't worry, we'll find them soon." Chris said back to Allison.
"We're going to find them sooner than soon. We're going to find them tonight. I have a plan." Allison said confidently.
"Which is?" Chris asked.
Allison opened her mouth to tell him her plan but before she could say a word, Gerard spoke up as he and Teagan walked into the kitchen, announcing their arrival.
"What are you doing here?" Allison asked Teagan, as she quickly tossed a dish towel over the map of Beacon Hills she and her dad were just looking at.
"I was uh, I wanted to see how you were." Teagan answered, feeling like she had interrupted something important
"I lost my mom, you know how that feels." Allison said a little harsher than she meant. She didn't mean to snap at her friend, she was just too consumed with revenge at the moment to pretend to play nice.
All she could think about was killing Derek, nothing else mattered.
"I know and I'm sorry for your loss." Teagan said softly, then added as she looked at all of them, "My condolences to all of you. I'm sorry."
Chris gave her a small smile and nod to thank her as Gerard spoke up and said,"I heard you were inside the station when all that madness happened. That must have been terrible to see."
"Yeah, it was." Teagan said, wondering why he was bringing it up. Especially since she assumed they all were there.
She never saw any of them but figured it was them who had threw in the smoke bombs, plus she did overhear Matt yelling at Allison once.
"What all did you see?" Gerard questioned her, trying to see how much she knew and how big of a threat she was.
"Not a lot." Teagan lied, "Matt mostly kept us confined in one room."
Gerard looked at her closely, making her fear that he knew she was lying until he finally nodded his head, accepting her answer before saying ,"I heard there was a lot of blood and violence, it's good you didn't see any of that, things like that could give you nightmares."
Teagan nodded her head in agreement and felt uneasy as all three Argents' stared at her as if they were studying her, making her feel very uneasy.
She'd only came by to check on Allison but was quickly starting to regret that decision; suddenly she was thankful for Aspen's vet appointment since it gave her a reason to leave as soon as possible.
She flashed them a apologetic smile, explaining about the appointment and told Allison she would call her later.
Allison offered to walk her to the door then silently walked beside her until Teagan reached out to grab the doorknob.
"Thank you for the visit." Allison said blankly.
"No problem." Teagan said with a small smile.
"How have you been? With everything going on lately and breaking up with Isaac and all?" Allison asked.
"I'm dealing." Teagan answered vaguely, trying to figure out why Allison was asking. Since walking into the house, Allison acted like she didn't want her there or wanted to talk to her.
She made Teagan feel she was inconveniencing her by stopping by and checking on her, but now she was trying to act like she cared and was concern for Teagan.
It was all an act and Teagan could see right through it.
"So you haven't talked to Isaac? I mean I felt sure by now he would realize his mistake and call you or something, but you haven't heard from him at all?" Allison asked, hoping she sounded genuinely concerned so Teagan would open up to her.
"Nope, not since he dumped me." Teagan answered, leaving out the few times their paths had crossed.
"Well if you do hear from him, tell me." Allison said sternly, then quickly added when she saw the look on Teagan's face,"I mean if you hear from him and need someone to talk to. You can call me."
"Of course." Teagan lied, then added, "Well I need to go. Talk to you later."
Teagan gave her a quick tense hug then opened the door and walked out, feeling like she had just lost a friend.
Allison was not the same girl she had befriended at the beginning of the year.
Teagan knew how it felt to lose a mother and it did change you but this was different.
Allison was cold, secretive and focused which terrified Teagan. She felt like a battle line had been drawn and Allison just became a powerful enemy.

After leaving Allison's house, Teagan pulled into the vet's parking lot and turned the car off. As she and Aspen walked toward the building she was hoping Scott was at work. She wanted to update him on how Allison was acting and see what he thought about it.
She opened the front door and smiled when she saw Deaton standing behind the counter. He didn't say anything, just smiled back, as he swung open the door and motioned for her to go on back with Aspen.
She held on to Aspen's leash as she walked down a small hallway then she paused when she heard Scott talking to someone. At first she thought he was with another patient and was going to wait her turn until she heard his voice, the voice that still gave her goosebumps and brought a smile to her face. It was Isaac.
"Well, I guess that makes me lucky cause ... cause I don't have anyone, so." She heard Isaac say, causing her to frown at his comment.
She knew it was wrong to eavesdrop, but she couldn't stop herself from taking a step closer to the door frame as quietly as she could so they wouldn't overhear her as she continued to listen to their conversation.
"What about Teagan?" Scott asked surprised. He knew how much they cared for each other and the last he heard they were together.
Isaac looked down at the floor as a heartbroken expression came across his face, he hated the thought of leaving her.
Not being around her was already painful enough, he knew being in another town from her would kill him but it had to be done. He hoped once he was gone, she could move on with her life, date a normal guy and stay far away from all things werewolf.
He looked up at Scott then shook his head as he said, "She's not mine to have anymore. We broke up."
"Oh, I'm-I'm sorry. I didn't know." Scott quickly apologized.
"It's ok." Isaac said, then added,"She's part of the reason I've decided to go."
When Scott shot him a confused expression he added,"With me gone she can be normal again and stop getting involved with our problems. She can stay safe"
Teagan felt her eyes widen in shock. She didn't know he was leaving town. Was he even going to tell her or just leave without saying good-bye?
She bit her bottom lip, trying to keep the tears away as she quickly turned around and rushed out of the building.
Back inside, after Isaac comment, Scott nodded his head, understanding where he was coming from. He was constantly worried about Allison's safety back when they were together. He opened his mouth to tell Isaac that until they heard a noise out in the hall.
They looked at each other in confusion, the two had so much on their minds they never even heard anyone right outside the room. Scott figured it was a patient bringing in a pet and walked out into the hall to greet them, but was surprised when he saw no one out there. Isaac followed along behind him then paused when he caught a whiff of something. It was Teagan's scent.
"What is it?" Scott asked as he looked back at Isaac and saw the look on his face.
"Teagan." Isaac answered softly, then added, "Teagan was here."
As the two boys wondered how much she had overheard, Deaton walked into the hall to join them and asked,"Is everything ok here?"
"Was Teagan here earlier?" Scott asked him.
"Yeah, Aspen had a appointment. I sent her back here and then a few minutes later she was running for the entrance saying she needed to reschedule." Deaton answered, then added, "I hope everything is ok."
"It's not. I screwed up." Isaac said, as he ran a hand over his hair. He hated the thought of her overhearing his plans to leave.
He had wanted to talk to her about it, explain his reason, not have her hear about it and think he was just leaving her for no good reason.
"I got to go." Isaac mumbled, as he walked past them to quickly leave the office and track her down before things end up worse than they already were.

Avery walked into her room singing out loud to a song she was listening to on her iPod as she texted Stiles about the game that night.
Looking up she gasped when she saw a man with his back to her, looking at some pictures on her desk.
Pulling her ear buds out she grabbed the baseball bat and yelled, "Don't move!"
"You have a lovely voice." A familiar voice said.
Her eyes widened as the man turned around and she saw it was Peter Hale.
"You… you're alive?" She gasped, unable to hide her shock.
"You do look just her." He said, as he looked at the picture of Avery's mother in his hand.
Carrying the bat with her she crossed the room and jerked the frame away from him.
"She was a good friend of the family." He continued.
"And she got killed for it… what the hell are you doing here?" She asked angrily.
"You can put the weapon down; I'm not going to hurt you." He assured her.
With raised eyebrows she said, "I can't make you the same promise."
He let out a small laugh, "You really have no idea what a strong addition you'd make to Derek's pack."
"You've seriously got, like, 10 seconds to tell me what you're doing here." She hissed.
"I just want to talk and I need your help with something." He admitted watching her closely as she clutched the handle of the baseball bat.
"Give me one good reason I should help you?" She pushed.
"Jackson." He answered quickly.
"Well now that Matt is dead, I'm hoping we can find some way to help him. Since he doesn't have a master any longer." She said, not sure why she was even talking to him.
"Gerard Argent killed Matt." Peter clarified.
"No… the reports said he fell off the bridge and drowned." Avery argued.
"Are you not listening? Gerard killed Matt and he's controlling Jackson. I can help you." He offered.
Slowly Avery laid the bat down on the floor and said, "Help me what? Kill Jackson?"
"I was thinking more along the lines of saving him." He said knowing it would sell the idea.
"Why would you want to help me save him?" she questioned.
"I'm alive, yes. But it came at a high cost… I'm weak, and I need a pack… I need an alpha. If you'll help me with Derek, I will help you save your friend." He bargained.
"Of course you want something in return." She said with an eye roll as she pulled her jacket off and threw it on her bed with her book bag.
He opened his mouth to speak but she cut him off.
"Before you waste anymore of your breath on this, you should know Derek doesn't listen to me. He doesn't really care anymore… every time I've tried to talk to him about something, it backfires." She admitted, trying to hide the look of sadness on her face.
"You really have no idea how wrong you are…" Peter said.
"Really?" Avery asked with a dry laugh.
"When Derek met you, he found something he hadn't known in a long time… a sense of family." Peter said.
"What are you talking about?" Avery asked confused.
"Since he lost everyone in that fire he's been on his own, but then he found you and he finally had a connection with someone. That's why he was so hell-bent on building a pack, to regain that sense of family and loyalty." He tried to explain.
"We broke up because he decided his pack was more important than me." She shot back at him.
"No, you broke up because Derek's an idiot and not the most competent alpha." He argued.
"He does better than you." She automatically defended him.
"No argument there. I mean, my stint as an alpha got me killed. Not my finest hour." He agreed, with a dry laugh.
She gave him a confused look, not sure what he was getting at.
"You know his pack abandoned him, right?" He questioned.
"No…" Avery admitted.
"He's back to where he started with no one." Peter said.
Taking her phone from her pocket and trying to disconnect from what he was saying; she breathed out, "My boyfriend's lacrosse game starts in like 2 hours from now. I'm kind of busy tonight."
He rolled his eyes in response to her words, glancing up to the ceiling with irritation.
"Don't act annoyed, the only point of you coming here was to try and get me on your side. Which I am not, and I don't trust you." She stated bluntly.
"That might be part of the reason, but you're missing the big picture here. Derek was better when he was with you, with you he didn't have all the anger, and self-loathing. He functioned on more than just rage, don't you see that?" He asked.
"Derek… is not my problem anymore. He's your nephew; you go clean up his mess." Avery said swallowing hard.
"Right about now he's realizing what a failure he's been at being an alpha. He tried to build a pack, and prepare for the worst… prepare for a battle but he wasn't ready. Gerard is winning, he's taking his sweet time milking the victory, he's toying with your friends and he's taken over this town. He needs to be stopped." Peter said as he looked around the dark purple walls of the teenager's bedroom.
"I am not helping you!" Avery yelled, frustrated at his playing on her emotions.
"I need your help as much as you need mine, I can help you save Jackson…" He started to say but she cut him off.
"I heard the first 5 times!" She shot back at him.
"You can save Derek." He said, his voice louder than hers to make her listen.
"Save Derek? From what?" She asked.
"Himself. I'm going to try to help him, but he doesn't trust me." Peter said as he picked a picture of Avery and Teagan up from her desk.
"Derek doesn't trust anyone." Avery reasoned.
"Except for one person. There's one person he shares a deep connection with, the only one who can reach him, and save him… and that's you." He explained.
She rolled her eyes and pointed to her open bedroom door.
"He can't win without you." Peter said not budging from where he was standing.
"And what makes you so sure?" She asked, her jaw tensed in anger as she spoke.
"Because even I know not to underestimate the power of human love. Derek's always been full of anger that's what kept him strong; but he's lacked heart, except for when he has you." He tried to get her to understand.
"Get out." She said again, feeling like she had too much pressure on her now.
She was still dealing with their break up and was trying to focus on her relationship with Stiles now.
"Avery…" Peter tried to argue.
"Fine, you stay… I'll go." She said as she turned and ran from the house.
