Home, Sweet Home - Chapter 69
~A Teen Wolf fan-fiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn~
Several minutes later, Teagan made her way toward the bleachers, looking for a place to sit. She saw Melissa and the sheriff sitting side by side and waved at them.
She walked passed Stiles and Scott, seeing matching worried expressions on their faces and knew the same one was on hers. She walked up the bleachers and sat down a few rows behind the boys as she glanced around nervously and waited for Avery to show up.
She had sent her a text earlier telling her that Jackson was there and was playing in the game.
Teagan looked down at her phone, planning to send Avery another message until she felt someone sitting beside her, she glanced over and breathed out a sigh of relief when she saw it was Avery.
"Where the hell have you been?" Teagan hissed out, then added, "Something's going on and I could be wrong... Lord knows I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling Gerard is behind it."
Before Avery could say anything, Teagan rambled on, "You should have seen the look on Melissa's face when she saw him earlier, something happened between them. Then he benched Scott and with Jackson here I can't help but feel like he had something planned."
"He does." Avery said agreeing with her.
"How do you know that?" Teagan asked confused.
"It's a long story and I promise I will tell you after the game, but right now we just need to get through this game." Avery answered, then added, "I don't know what Gerard is planning but I do know he is controlling Jackson right now."
"What?" Teagan called out surprised.
Avery nodded her head then opened her mouth to say something until something else caught her eye. It was Stiles running on to the field. She lowered her eyebrows in confusion, wondering what he was doing until it hit her.
He was playing. He was actually getting to play in the game.
"Oh, my God." Avery breathed out, as she grabbed onto Teagan's arm.
"What? What's wrong? What's happening?" Teagan asked worried, as she glanced around.
"No, nothing bad. It's Stiles. He's-He's playing." Avery answered with a proud smile on her face.
"Really?" Teagan asked surprised, as she looked at the field and saw Stiles standing out there with the rest of the team.,"Oh, my God, he's playing." She added.
"He is! He's playing!" Avery said excitedly, as she stood up and began to cheer for him at the same time his dad stood up to cheer as well.
Teagan laughed at how excited both of them were and clapped her hands as she called out to cheer him on too. But as happy as she was for him, she couldn't stop worrying about what was to come.
As she looked down with a worried expression on her face, Isaac stood behind the bleachers and watched her. He could hear her heart racing and knew she was scared out of her mind but he was going to do whatever he could to keep her safe.
He had finally realized that meant he needed to be with her, he was being stupid before by breaking up with her and trying to push her away. He thought by doing that she would be safe and could lead a normal life until he overheard her talk with Avery earlier, until he heard that she loved him. He smiled to himself when he thought about it again. She loved him.
She actually loved him and he realized in that moment that he couldn't leave her. He was going to stay and fight, but more importantly he was staying for her cause she was the only thing that matter in his world.
He looked down at his lacrosse uniform with a grin on his face then walked over toward his team mates that were sitting on the bench. He plopped down beside Scott and saw him looked over at him with a surprise look on his face.
"You came to help." Scott said to him, as Isaac begin to put on his pads.
"I came to win." Isaac said, as he shot him a cocky smile. He glanced off to the side and saw Teagan clapping for Stiles, she still had not seen him, but he couldn't keep his eyes off of her as he added, "And to get my girl back."
Avery cringed when she saw one of the other players knock into Stiles and glanced away from the field for a moment. She looked over at Scott and felt her eyes widen when she saw Isaac. Looking over at Teagan, she realized she had not seen him and hit her arm to get her attention.
Teagan looked over at her in surprise and begin to worry at first when she saw the look on Avery's face.
"What? What's wrong?" Teagan asked.
Avery didn't say anything as she nodded her head toward Scott. Teagan looked over at him and gasp in surprise when she saw Isaac staring at her.
She softly said his name with a smile on her face. Isaac grinned back at her and shot her a wink, causing a familiar fluttering in her stomach.
She couldn't believe her eyes, he was here. He was actually here. She had never been as happy as she was now to see him.
~()~
"Hey, looks like Isaac is going to play too." Avery said as she nudged Teagan.
"I know." Teagan said nodding with smile, she'd kept her eye on Isaac since he'd showed up to the game.
Both girls cheered as Isaac ran onto the field.
"I'd feel a lot better if Scott was out there too." Avery finally said.
"Me too, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Coach has a whole bench full of guys he'll have to play before he'll pick Scott." Teagan reasoned.
Avery nodded and waved to Stiles when she saw him looking towards her.
They girl gasped when they saw Isaac knock down one of his own teammates.
"What is he doing?" Teagan asked, her brown eyes wide.
Avery shook her head and shrugged, as they saw him take out another of his teammates.
"Come on." Avery said as she stood up.
"Where are we going?" Teagan asked.
"To talk to Scott." Avery said, as she descended the bleachers with Teagan only a few steps behind her.
"Scott!" Avery said as she sat down on the front row of the bleachers, right behind the bench he was sitting on.
Turning around he looked at them.
"Hey." He greeted.
Teagan gave him a small smile and looked back out to the field where she saw Isaac going after another of the Beacon Hill's players.
"What the hell is he doing?" Teagan breathed out.
"Yeah, what is he doing?" Avery repeated and looked to Scott.
With a small sigh, he explained how Isaac was trying to make it so coach didn't have an option but to play Scott, or they'd have to forfeit the game.
"Well, looks like Isaac got another one." Avery said quietly.
Teagan turned her head and looked back out to the field, feeling her eyes widen as she said, "That is Isaac!"
In an instant Teagan was off the bleachers and running onto the field, with Scott and Avery right behind her.
"Are you okay?" Teagan asked him, looking down to the leg that seemed to get the worst of the hit.
"It's not broken, but I can't move it. I think Jackson nicked me, I can feel it spreading." Isaac said, in a strained voice.
Teagan's eyes teared up as she saw the pained look on his face.
"it' okay, Isaac. You're going to be okay." Teagan tried to comfort him, as she laid a hand on his arm.
"I'm okay." He tried to assure her, hating the pained and worried expression she was giving him.
She watched as they loaded Isaac's body onto the gurney, "I… I thought you were leaving." She said as she walked with the paramedics.
"I was, but then I realized that I had a really good reason to stay in Beacon Hills." He said, with a small smile.
"What reason?" Teagan asked, feeling her heart start to race in her chest.
"You." He admitted, smiling to himself at hearing her heart race. He hoped that he hadn't screwed things up too bad by pushing her away.
Avery watched as Teagan left the field with Isaac and the paramedics, she hoped he hadn't gotten too much of the venom in his system so it could wear off quickly.
Looking to the side she saw Scott as he looked over to Gerard, she couldn't hear him but she could see his mouth was moving.
"What's he saying?" She demanded to know.
"He's saying that if I want to play chess, I need to be willing to sacrifice my own pawns." Scott said quietly to her.
"Pawns… as in, friends?" she asked, her heart racing as she saw Stiles jogging towards them.
"Yeah, pretty sure." Scott answered.
"Aw, crap. McCall, either you're in or we forfeit." Coach Finstock said as he pushed a helmet into the teenagers hands.
"Dukate, what are you doing? Get off the field!" He said turning his attention to her.
"Okay." She said, watching as he walked away.
"Hey, what happened?" Stiles asked stopping in front of her as he pulled his helmet off.
Avery glanced over to see Melissa talking to Scott, telling him that she was wrong about just giving in. And that if Scott could do something to help, he needed to do it.
"Jackson managed to nick Isaac, I don't think he got a lot of the venom though." Avery said quietly.
He opened his mouth to say something but she cut him off.
"You have to be careful, Stiles." She warned, taking a few steps closer.
"I'm trying." Stiles said, nodding.
"No, you don't understand. If you see Jackson coming at you, you need to turn and run. Gerard is controlling him." She said, in hushed tone.
"Wait, how do you know that?" Stiles asked her.
"I'll explain later… just promise me you'll be careful." She pleaded with him.
His eyes searched her face as she spoke, and he could see how worried she was about him.
"I promise, I'll be careful." He said.
Nodding she leaned in pressing a kiss to his lips, as they broke the kiss their eyes locked.
"Dukate! Off the field, I won't tell you again." Coach said as he walked past them again.
"Come on." Melissa said as she laid a hand on Avery's lower back and led her off the field.
Avery returned to her spot on the bleachers and looked around wondering where Teagan had went.
Looking around her sight stopped on Stiles who was standing still looking at the ball in his lacrosse net.
"He caught it!" She exclaimed happily as she clapped and jumped up and down.
"Run!" She shouted, when he continued to stand still.
A mixed noise of screams and people yelling 'run' erupted from the rest of the bleachers behind her and Stiles took off running towards the opposing teams goal.
He came to a stop in front of the goal.
"Stilinski! Shoot the ball, shoot it you idiot!" Coach yelled.
"Shoot it!" Avery screamed as loud as she could when she saw Stiles looking at her.
Looking back at the goal he shot the ball, and made a goal.
The crowd all cheered, Avery cheered louder than anyone else. She was so proud of him.
Stiles cheered out of excitement for himself on the field as it slowly sunk in that he'd scored a goal.
Once the crowd settled down she looked around, growing increasingly worried about Teagan's absence.
~()~
Teagan struggled against the hold one of Gerard's men had on her, as she watched Isaac trying desperately to crawl away from Gerard.
"You put in a good effort, Isaac." Gerard said, watching the young werewolf struggle.
"Stop it! Please!" Teagan screamed fighting against the man, but he was much stronger than her.
Pulling a large sword out, Gerard said, "This would be so much more poetic if it were half-time. Don't you agree, Teagan?"
"Don't hurt him!" Teagan screamed, tears poured down her cheeks as she watched helplessly as Isaac continued to crawl on the floor of the locker room away from Gerard and his men.
Before she could yell anything else, the man put a hand over her mouth to keep her quiet.
Avery saw Scott looking at her from the field, "Where's Teagan and Isaac?" she asked, knowing he could hear her from where he was.
He shrugged in response.
"I don't see Gerard, either." Avery said.
Scott scanned the crowd and when he looked back to where Avery had been sitting, he saw she was gone too.
Making her way into the school, she stopped as she saw a man she didn't recognize standing outside of the boys locker room.
Taking her phone out she called Teagan's phone, her heart stopped as she could hear the familier ring tone from inside of the locker room.
Without another thought she rushed forward, trying to get past the man, but he caught her and dragged her into the locker room.
"Stop it! Let me go you son of a bitch!" Avery shouted angrily kicking her legs and flailing her arms trying to break free.
She looked over to see Teagan staring back at her with a terrified expression, it took her a few seconds to realize what was going on as she saw Isaac use a sink to pull himself to his feet and Gerard holding a sword.
"No!" Avery yelled, her eyes wide.
Teagan struggled desperately against the man's hold on her, trying to break free and help Isaac somehow.
Both girls stopped fighting against the guys holding them when Isaac smugly smirked at Gerard.
Then they saw Scott's reflection with glowing yellow eyes in the mirror.
Remembering what she'd seen from her self-defense workout videos, Avery took a deep breath trying to calm herself, then she stomped on the man's foot.
With a groan of pain, he loosened his hold on her. Immediately she brought her elbow back as hard as she could and struck him in the middle of his chest, knocking the wind out of him.
He let go and stumbled backwards.
Seeing Avery fighting back and still worried about Isaac, Teagan bit down on the mans hand who had a hold of her.
When he let go of her, she turned around the pushed him with all of her might, he tripped over a bench and fell to the ground.
Both Scott and Isaac had gotten distracted and worried when the girls started to fight back, and hadn't noticed Gerard slip out of the locker room.
"Where is he?" Scott, asked. His canine fangs showing as he spoke.
~(Back out on the field)~
"Teagan!" Avery yelled as the field went pitch black.
"I'm right here, what the hell happened?" Teagan asked as she grabbed her friends hand.
"I don't know." Avery said fearfully, followed by a groan of pain as someone ran into her.
"Sorry, I can't see anything." A familiar voice said.
"Melissa?" Avery asked, after being in the hospital for so long after what Kate had done to her. Avery and Teagan had both gotten on a first name basis with her.
"Avery?" she asked back.
"And Teagan." Teagan said.
She huddled with the two teenage girls while people darted past them and tried to flee from the game.
"What's happening, did you see anything before the lights went out?" Teagan asked Scott's mom.
"The last thing I saw was someone go down on the field." She admitted.
Avery tensed, "Was it Stiles?"
"I don't know." She admitted.
"What happened to Isaac and Scott?" Avery wondered outloud.
She could feel Teagan shrug.
"Scott? Scott! Where are you?" Melissa yelled.
"Scott!" Avery and Teagan joined in, hoping he was able to hear them.
"Mom?" Scott yelled as he found them.
"Are you guys okay?" He asked worried.
"We're all fine but somebody is hurt." She explained to her son.
"What are you talking about?" He asked them.
Grabbing his arm in the dark, Avery said, "Someone is down on the field… we don't know who."
It was only moments later the lights all came back on.
Blinking in the now harsh lighting, they all tried to see who it was.
Avery looked down at her arm and then to Teagan, as her friend squeezed her arm even tighter.
"What?" Avery asked.
"It's… Jackson. I was so worried about everyone else that… I didn't even think…" Her voice trailed off.
"Medic! We need a medic!" Coach Finstock yelled franticly as he looked down to Jackson's motionless body.
Avery and Teagan ran after Melissa as she jogged towards the scene on the field.
Avery stood in a state of shock staring down at him, like Teagan had said; they had been worried about Jackson killing everyone else, not hurting himself.
"Jackson!" Teagan shouted as she dropped to the ground by his head.
Melissa laid her head down on Jackson's chest to listen for a heart beat.
Raising her head she said, "He's not breathing… no pulse."
Avery looked up, and her eyes met Isaac's for a few seconds, before they both looked back to Teagan.
"No… no, he's breathing. He has to be breathing." Teagan said, her voice hoarse as tears were already running down her cheeks.
Pulling his shirt up, they saw he was bloody.
"Look." Scott said quietly as he nudged Isaac and pointed to Jackson's bloody hand.
"He did it to himself?" Isaac said confused.
"Jackson, wake up!" Teagan yelled as she shook his limp body, hoping for some sign of life.
"Tilt his head up! Hold his head up." Melissa instructed Teagan.
Teagan didn't respond, just stared at his peaceful face.
"Teagan!" Melissa yelled as she started to do chest compressions on him.
Snapping back, Teagan scooted forward and held his head up.
"Come on." Avery breathed out, as she watched the scene intently.
When she saw the chest compressions weren't helping at all, Avery looked around the field for Stiles.
Isaac stared at Teagan as she continued to fall apart and yell Jackson's name, holding onto hope that Melissa's attempts could bring him back.
He felt so bad for her, and seeing all the pain she was in. but a part of him was still hurt by how upset she was, he'd thought she had been over Jackson.
Then a steady fear started to sink in as he wondered if it was too late to mend things between them.
She'd said and done everything she could to try and hold onto him, but all he'd done was push her away. He'd came to game, not only to help Scott but to get her back; but now he was afraid it might be too late.
Avery jogged over to where Sherriff Stilinski was standing, as he looked around.
"Where's Stiles?" He aked her.
Her light brown eyes were wide with fear as she shook her head and said, "I… I don't know.
"I can't find him anywhere." The sheriff explained.
"Oh my god." Avery breathed out, feeling sick as tears burnt her eyes.
"Stiles!" He yelled.
As a few of the team players walked past he yelled and asked "Where's Stiles? Where's my son?"
