The two of them heard footsteps from behind them and turned around to see Dean looking

at them expectantly. They both nodded at him telling him that they got the message, the three of

them made their way back into the car. Sam this time was in the drivers seat and Dean beat him to

the passengers seat, which part of him wanted to argue about but he figured in the large scheme of

things it probably wasn't important. However, if they kept pushing him around in his own car then

he would definitely have something to say about that, but he also understood Dean's need to get his

angel friend back. Xander slid into the back seat on Dean's side because Sam had pushed the seat

back as far as it could go to accommodate his long legs. Sam pulled out of the parking lot just as

the avalanche of kids started going back into the blue minivan.

They wasn't much talk as Sam got back onto the freeway. But Sam broke the silence a

few minutes later.

"What your favorite color?" he asked glancing at him through the rear view mirror.

Xander smiled, finding the question funny. He knew so much about the Winchesters already and

their first question, well Sam's first question to him was his favorite color. Then again he supposed

that they had to start somewhere.

"Green." he said not that he really cared that much about the color, it had just been his

response to that question ever since he was a kid. Sam nodded "Mines navy blue." he looked over

at Dean who looked at him incredulously but didn't offer his own favorite color up. Sam shrugged

slightly and asked another one.

"What's your favorite food?"

"Lasagna." Xander replied.

"Salad." Dean said and then pointed at Sam with his thumb "This one loves salads." Sam

opened his mouth to ask another question only to have Dean beat him to the punch.

"What's your favorite weapon?" Dean asked and that made Xander smile again but for a

different reason, that was more the kind of question he had been expecting.

"Crossbow you?" he asked back. Dean fiddled around for a moment and produced a gun a

very nice looking .45 with an engrave slide and ivory grips.

"Can I see it?" came out of his mouth before he really thought about it. Dean looked at

him hesitantly for a few moment before handing it over to him. Xander took the gun carefully

making sure not to drop it or scuff it up since it was obvious that Dean cared about his weapon a

lot. He handed it back to Dean a moment later because the whole time he was holding it Dean

looked like he was about to snatch it back from him.

"It's very nice." was all Xander said as Dean put it back away.

"Why a crossbow?" Sam asked.

"It was the weapon of choice back when I was in Sunnydale. Plus you don't get the cop

called on you the way you do when you use a gun in the middle of a city. Not that the cops were

that much of a problem, since most of them seemed to have Sunnydale syndrome." he said and at

Sam's and Dean's blank expression he explained "It's what me and my friends called it. Everyone

else despite how many times they ran into the supernatural seemed to live in a permanent state of

denial and they refused to believe that anything went bump in the night." Sam nodded his

understanding.

"So what is the coolest thing that you've taken out?" Dean asked with a slight smile.

Xander pondered that for a moment, he knew that Dean had a bit of a reputation for being gung ho

about hunting but Xander didn't. He hunted to save people, not because he enjoyed killing the

creatures. However there were a few things he hadn't minded taking out.

"The Mayor." he said, Dean looked at him confused and he had a feeling that Sam would

too if he wasn't driving. Xander supposed he probably should explain that comment before they

started thinking that he was a serial killer or something. "He ascended into a really really big snake

and he was planning to eat everyone at graduation, so we blew him up." he explained. Dean looked

at him incredulously for a moment and he heard him mutter.

"Giant snake?" Xander nodded even though he was pretty sure Dean wasn't actually

asking him a question. Dean looked at him with a hint more of admiration.

"And here I thought purgatory was full of the biggest and baddest monsters, however I

never ran into any giant snakes." Xander looked at Dean but didn't say anything. He had wondered

what Purgatory was like, however he was pretty sure it hadn't been very pleasant. However it

wasn't him who actually asked the question although he had been thinking about it.

"Dean what was purgatory like?" Sam asked softly. Dean's eyes connected with Sam's and

Sam pulled Xander's car off to the side of the road. Xander had the strangest feeling like at the

moment he was invisible and all Sam and Dean were paying attention to right now were each

"Sam it was the strangest thing, I mean it should have terrifying and I guess parts of it

were but it was also...pure."

"Pure?" Sam asked confused and Xander also didn't get it, but he was glad Sam asked

rather than him because he was pretty sure if he spoke he would make the two remember he was

there and they would clam up.

"Always fighting but you never had to wonder about black and white anymore...which I

kind of liked." Dean admitted a little hesitantly.

"Then again it was also scary, you could never really rest, you always had to be on the

move." Dean blinked and looked at him, Xander supposed that was the moment that he realized

again that Xander was back in the car. Xander could practically see the gates and walls roll back

"But that's enough about Purgatory for one day." Dean said and then faced the front like

they had never talked to begin with. Xander knew then any questions about Purgatory would be unwelcome at least at that moment. There was an awkward few minutes of silence before Xander

decided to break it. Well, he didn't consciously decided to break it, he just did it because he wasn't

a fan of awkward silences and this one was very awkward.

"So billboard games anyone?"
