I am so sorry it took so long to update! College steals your life (if you want good grades at least). But, I am back and will do my best to continue updating this story!
Anyway, due to the responses I've gotten, Ahiru will fight the pirates.
So here we go:
Ahiru awoke in pain while trying to take in everything around her.
The light was dim.
The aroma of heated metal and body odor filled the air.
She felt a throbbing pain in the back of her head. Was she hit? Who had attacked her?
She made a quick glance around. She was surrounded by iron bars, except for the back wall, ceiling, and floor which were made of wood.
What happened before she got here?
That was when it all came back to her…
Fakir led her away from everyone…
the cold barrel of the pistol against her head…
his threatening voice…
the strike he made on her…
Ahiru curled up into a miserable little ball.
Jaden had been right all this time… It was a mistake to trust Fakir.
And now because of her choice she's was rotting in this cell and being taken to wherever this place was…
Just then, the slowly growing sound of foot steps began to come about.
Ahiru lifted her head to see the stranger heading towards her.
A young man about medium height with black tattered clothing and long hair tied back with a black band appeared before her. He looked down on her with a devious smile on his face.
"What' cha hiding from kid? Ya' not scared of a couple of pirates are ya'?"
"I'm not scared of anything. Not even a pirate!" she squeaked.
"Are ya' sure? This ain't no ordinary pirate ship missy…" the man hissed as he slowly shape-shifted into a snake.
Ahiru jumped back horrified by the sight she had witnessed. The pirate took advantage of this moment to slither through the iron bars and make a small 'hiss' at the frightened young gypsy.
Ahiru continued to cower back in fear.
"What'sss wrong child?" the snake asked, "I thought ya' weren't ssscared of anything…"
The snake soon had Ahiru trapped in a corner as he began to wrap himself around her. Ahiru was in full panic now. As the snake swirled around her body, her nerves began to tense up.
"ssscared yet…?" He whispered in her ear.
It was at that moment, something clicked in Ahiru's mind. And without looking, Ahiru quickly smashed her head against the snake's, crushing it between hers and the wall.
"Gah!" The snake cried as he released her.
He soon dropped to the floor and slithered away quickly.
The snake changed back into a pirate and glared at the captive, "brat!" he snarled as he went his way.
Ahiru soon gained control of herself, and as he left, she breathed in deeply. What was she supposed to do now?
It was dawn when the rescue ship was set up at Port. The sky was a grey canvas waiting for color to fill it up… but from the looks of how everything was that seemed less likely to happen.
Fakir was at the ship, waiting for everyone to arrive. He tried gathering a crew, but the moment the men knew they were going to work with gypsies, they turned and ran.
At least Autor was willing to help see him off.
"That's the last of it!" Autor called from the ship.
"Great. Thanks Autor."
Autor came down the ramp and back onto the dock.
"Don't get yourself killed out there with those gypsies, alright?" he said as he slapped Fakir on the back.
"I don't intend to. We're going to bring back Ahiru safe and sound, that's it."
"It's kind of interesting though isn't?" Autor commented, "I mean, one random gypsy gets kidnapped by a couple of pirates, and now the council insists on tracking her down. Why is that?"
Fakir raised an eyebrow, "Questioning your commanding Chief?"
"No, I'm just curious is all. Wouldn't you want to know what's going on?"
"I'm just following orders. Now, are you going to keep questioning the council's orders or get back to work?"
"Alright, alright. Good luck Fakir. Just don't do anything stupid."
And Autor went his way, leaving Fakir to wait for the whole team to arrive.
Ahiru stayed within her cage trying to come up with an escape plan.
She had to know where she was, where this ship was headed, and if there were any escape boats; all sky ships were required to have at least one. The captain wouldn't danger his own men, would he?
All seemed to have fallen quite bellow deck. Ahiru was alone.
She had to act now!
Ahiru slowly crawled on the loose floor boards until she reached the front of the iron bars.
She wrapped her hands around the cool bars, and after seeing the coast was clear, used her flexibility to slip out of the prison.
Ahiru crept around the lower deck for any sign of pirates.
That was when a fearful though struck Ahiru's mind:
She was defenseless on a pirate ship! What would she do if she ran into one of them, or worse that pirate/snake guy!
She had to find some sort of weapon or something…
After stumbling around a bit she discovered a set of mops and buckets tucked away in a corner. It would have to do. Ahiru took hold of the wooden mops handle.
Let's hope she can do some damage with this.
She crept around a little longer, armed with her mop, looking for a door or window.
And as luck would have it, she found one.
A small staircase that lead to the upper deck.
Ahiru took a deep breath, here we go.
She wrapped her fist tighter around her weapon, crept up the steps slowly, and soon pushed with all her might against the door.
The door swung open with a loud screech!
The deck had about 7 men on board, and the moment they saw their prisoner outsider her bars they jumped into action.
They brandished their swords and ran towards the gypsy.
Ahiru's initial reaction was to run, but she pushed her fear down and pulled her mop in front of her to block the first blow of the incoming sword.
Ahiru continued to counter the attacks from the swings of the blades, constantly moving and changing positions.
It pretty soon came to a point where Ahiru decided to take the offensive.
Right when the closest pirate left himself open, Ahiru swung with all her might, knocking the pirate down.
Victory!
But not for long!
SWISH, went another sword aiming for her head.
Out of panic she bent backwards, missing the sword and coming back up to block with her mop.
One after one, she swung, skipped, and hit most of her captors. And she was doing better than she expected!
Just as she was about the strike another one, she felt another hand latch onto the handle of her mop.
The gypsy turned to face a strange looking man with grey hair and brown eyes, dressed a red cloak and a brown hat with the most colorful assortment of feathers Ahiru had ever seen.
"And what'cha think ya' doin' to me crew, missy?" He asked looking down on her a uncomfortable smile.
Scene!
