Derek's PROV

I took a deep breath. It was just Kit what was I so afraid of?

That he will tell you NO you spoiled brat. You can't provide for our woman and you have to ask for help from the old man. My wolf spoke the truth of the fears in my heart.

Maybe he will understand that I need money. It can't hurt to ask, can it?

It hurts you pride.

"Hey dad I'm going to take Chloe out on a date in an hour." I said taking a bite out of my apple.

"Oh, that's great Derek!" He exclaimed with real true enthusiasm. I felt like he was proud of me. Kit folded the newspaper and set it aside," When did you ask her? How long ago? And how did you ask?" He was very interested in all of this, I was surprised. He never seemed to care with Simon he would give him 100 dollars with Tori he would give her 40 and tell her he wanted to meet the guy first.

I remembered how it all happened. Chloe and I were having lunch under our tree when I asked her.

"Would you like to go to lunch with me this weekend?" I asked.

"Like on a date?" She asked shock written on her face.

"Yes." I said rolling my eyes at her confusion. A beautiful blush bleed up to her small face.

"I would love to go to lunch with you." She said with a sincere smile plastered across her face. She wrapped her small arms around my large frame. She held on to me until I wrapped my arms around her enjoying the moment. She stared with her big blue eyes into my eyes. She reached up as high as she could and used her arms to pull me down slightly. She places a sweet peck on my chin. I was beyond surprised at her actions. A beautiful smile appeared on her face. I couldn't help but smile back at her knowing I had made my mate happy. I leaned down close enough to smell coffee on her breath. I was so closing to kissing her when a shrill sound rand in my ear. I made a face similar to a pout and glared at the stupid school bell that ruined my kiss with Chloe. Her bell like laugh twinkled its way up to me. I looked down at her and started laughing with her. The laugh rumbled through my chest. I stood up to my feet and stretched hearing the pops and cracks of my joints. I helped Chloe up to her feet gently. I grabbed both of our bags and reached for her hand. I walked her to class with our hands swinging between us.

"I asked her this week at school, during our lunch. I just asked Chloe I didn't propose or anything." I said smiling to myself from the memory.

Kit smiled back at me. "I am proud of you for asking her. I want you to tell her she is welcome over here any time she wants."

I gave him a sharp nod of my head.

"Do you need anything?" He asked looking me in the eye.

"Could you give me some money?" I asked afraid of the no.

"Oh yeah sure Derek. Just go into my wallet and take however much you need." Kit stood up and took his wallet out the back pocket of his blue jeans, and walked out of the kitchen. I stood staring at the worn leather. How much should I take? I glance at the clock. I really needed to get going. I grabbed four twenties and left.

I started up the car making sure I had everything. I sent a text to Chloe telling her I was leaving and I would be at her house in 15 minutes.
