UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! Hey Guys! Big news! In order to celebrate +100 reviews I'm holding a CONTEST more details below! Hope you all like this chapter! (fixed email link below)
"Okay Bee." Dash begins. Him, Jordi, Claire and I are walking though the hospital hallways aimlessly. "What do you miss most from being in a hospital." I think about it for a moment, involuntarily glancing over at Claire to be sure she is still there.
"Uh, my social life?" I shrug.
"Bingo!" Dash gestures. "Prepare yourself Bumble Bee, tonight we party!"
"Party?" I laugh. "And how are you planning on doing that?"
"Some kids from a high school nearby are having a huge bonfire party, and we are totally crashing it." Claire smirks.
"Oh really?" I continue. "And how do you plan on getting to this party?" Claire clears her throat before putting a hand on my arm.
"Trust me, I've got this." I roll my eyes at her remark but I can't help but get excited.
"Guess I better go get ready then." I smile before turning and walking back to my room.
I curl my hair in loose waves and put on some natural makeup. I decide on jean shorts and a white lace top with quarter sleeves and the shoulder cut out. I stand in front of the mirror, and can't help but stare at myself. I look like, me. Me. The girl I remember from before the hospital. I never believed the two of us could be in the same place at once. I run my fingers over the scar on my wrist and tug down my sleeve. I feel hands on my shoulders and I look up in the mirror to see Jordi standing behind me.
I smile softly before sighing. "You look great," He tells me.
"Yeah," I mumble, still thinking about the girl in the mirror and the scar on my wrist that seems to contradict it.
"You okay?" Jordi asks wrapping his arms around me and resting his chin on my shoulder.
"Mhm." I assure him before laughing. "Can you tell that I don't do country?" I hold out my arms and turn in a circle.
"I think you could pull off Heroin Chic if you tried, you just look good in anything." Jordi jokes and I turn around to smack him on the arm.
"Omg thats so 90s." I laugh. For a slight second our eyes connect and the heat it creates in my cheeks only forces me to think about how normal I feel again. I clear my throat.
"We should probably go." I smile forcing myself to look away. Jordi mumbles something and when I look back up at him he's still staring at me, a twinkle shining in his brown irises. I awkwardly reach out and place my palm on his cheek, gently rubbing my thumb across it. He closes his eyes and leans into my touch, I smile again. He's so warm.
"Come on." I tell him pulling my hand away and grabbing my purse. I wait at my door for him to walk next to. Smoothly he picks up my hand and laces his fingers between mine. I try to hold back yet another cheeky grin.
Time skip
"Here we are." Dash says parking in a grass field. The car ride was surprisingly bearable and I can't help but wonder if it had to do with Claire being there, I can see the light of the bonfire glowing behind some trees, smell the musky pine smoke, and hear the pop music that I'm sure a group of girls are shouting the lyrics to.
"Now Jordi, you're our DD got it?" Dash explains as we get out of the car.
"Hold on, hold on." Jordi laughs but there's a small pang of terror in his voice. "You're making the kid with leg cancer be the designated driver?"
"That's what I just said." Dash shrugs and Jordi just shakes his head. Dash and Claire walk ahead, I can't help but notice the way she playfully bumps into him while they walk, one of her classic flirting moves. I feel Jordi's familiar touch and our hands are intertwined once more as we walk ahead.
A guy approaches us as we near the group, two bottles of beer in his hands, he hands them to me and Jordi. I raise my eyebrows suspiciously.
"Welcome drinks." He laughs. I nod at him before Jordi and I walk away.
"I thought you didn't drink." Jordi teases.
"Yolo." I shrug taking a swig from the bottle before grimacing. "Oh god that's awful." I cough and Jordi laughs. We walk over towards the large fire and find an empty spot in the grass to sit.
"Have you ever been to one of these?" I ask forcing myself to take another chug from the bottle. The second time the taste isn't as bad.
"What a party?" Jordi replies and I nod. "Nothing quite like this." He laughs. "What about you?"
"Oh yeah. A bunch." I run a hand through my hair trying to enjoy the moment. As the bottle draws empty I feel a warm sensation coursing through my veins, I can feel my inhibitions softening, my body relaxing.
"I hate my aunt." I say not really concerned about the words coming out of my mouth. "I know it's awful but I hate her."
"Under your circumstances I'd say that's normal." Jordi looks at me with his deep brown eyes, ready to listen.
"You know," I scoff. "I wasn't originally going to end it like this," I say gesturing towards my wrists. "The hospital actually gave me some pain meds to take home. My aunts always been super strict about medicine so she'd lock it all in a cupboard above the stove. What I started doing is I would take one with me in the morning and when she wasn't looking bury it in my pocket. Later when I got home from school I'd slip it into the back corner of one of my bathroom drawers."
"What happened?" Jordi asks after I'm silent for a moment.
"I'd have those times," I coo closing my eyes. "When I was just fed up. I'd sit in my bedrooms for hours just staring at my hand full of pills, ready to just swallow them."
"Why didn't you?" I open my eyes and raise my gaze to Jordi's.
"Because, I am weak." I say in a hushed voice. "That's when the scratches started to appear on my arms. I'd get to those same moments but instead of the pills that still sat in my drawer, I'd hold a pair of scissors in my hand. It was a lot less scary, knowing I had the control. I could get relief from temporary pain without being gone completely."
Jordi moves closer next to me and takes my hand trying to comfort me but I'm lost in my head. The alcohol making the memories even more vivid.
"One day I just," I let out a shaky sigh before pushing myself up from my seat on the ground. "I need another drink." I mutter walking away leaving Jordi behind.
Claire's POV
The ringing in my ears is so loud now I can't ignore it, the sign that Bee is in trouble. I'm having such a great time with Dash though I don't want to leave to go check on her.
"Come dance with me." Dash says grabbing me by my hips and pulling me towards the loud music. We've both had our share of drinks but being dead my conscious is untouched, just my human body that is feeling the affects. It kinda rocks.
We move together for a while before Dash asks me how my hands are feeling.
"Uh better." I smile. "Still sore though."
"Well darn." Dash smirks. "Guess these lips will just have to settle for something of their own kind." He leans in to kiss me but I step back, not even daring to give him the cheek. His eyes slide open but he reacts pretty well.
"Oh I see." He laughs. "You're the kind to play hard to get."
"Haha, couldn't keep it a secret for too long." I shrug walking back towards him.
"Well lucky for you," he whispers in my ear sending shivers down my spine. "I love a chase."
Jordi's POV
After a while I start to worry about Bee. She's been gone for almost 15 minutes and won't answer my texts. I get up from the group and walk over to where I think the drinks are.
"Excuse me, 'cuse me. Thanks." I mutter trying to make it through the crowd. When I finally reach the center of the commotion I realize that it is in fact not the drink table but a game of beer pong. I groan preparing to force my way back out.
"Hey there handsome." I feel a hand on my shoulder and turn around expecting it to be Bee. Instead I am greeted by a group of tall brunettes.
"Oh look Rach." One of the girls trill. "I told you it wasn't Jake!"
"You're right, hey I haven't seen you around." The first girl directs towards me.
"I bet he's one of those LA prep boys." The third girl replies giddily. "They're so hot!"
"Sorry I uh-" I try to back away but bump into someone. I turn to see Bee and relief floods over me.
"Jordi!" She exclaims taking note of the girls behind me before wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing me hard. I'm so taken aback by her intensity that I don't even think to kiss back.
She pulls away, still keeping her arms around me and smirks at the trio of girls who now have rolled their eyes and stormed away. I untangle her arms from me and take her hand leading her away from the crowd.
"You're the jealous type?" I exclaim with a laugh.
"No I'm not." She scoffs. Her voice is slightly slurred.
"Bee where have you been?" I ask her more seriously. "I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"I went to get a drink!" She exclaims her voice an octave higher than it normally is. She stumbles over her feet and I steady her with my other arm.
"How many drinks did you get exactly?" I groan. She stops and looks upward in thought.
"Um." She giggles looking between me and the floor and back up again. My jaw drops as I stare into her glassy eyes. We've hardly made two steps so I pick her up and carry her bridal style.
"Come on, it's time to go." I tell her.
"Jordi, you're so strong!" She flirts.
"Thank you." I reply trying to rush to the car.
"I had a great time tonight! Didn't you?"
"Mhm" we reach the car and I open the passenger's seat sliding Bee in gently. I close her door and walk over to the driver's seat, pulling my phone from my pocket.
I sit down and dial Dash's number, waiting for him to pick up. I can see Bee squirming in the corner of my eye.
"Jordi, why are you so handsome?" She asks straining her neck to rest her head on my arm.
"I get it from my abuela." I tell her distracted. She lets out a laugh.
"You're so funny! You and all your little Mexican words. What's that thing you always call me?" So I've come to the conclusion that Bee is the talkative drunk.
"Cariño" I finally hang up and decide to text him.
"Cariño," she repeats her voice soft as velvet. She reaches over placing one hand over my phone and the other on my cheek turning me towards her. "What does that mean?" She lowers her voice.
"Dear." I reply my heart rate increasing. She leans closer.
"How do you say 'kiss me'?" She asks before her soft drunken lips find mine.
