I opened my blurry eyes to the sky. I expected to see blue, but all I saw was green. The green was toxic color that wrapped me up tight, and made it unable to look away. The longer I starred the deeper I fell into it. It consumed me. As I started to wake up the cobwebs inside my mind were wiped away and my vision cleared. The green only grew to be intense.

I soon realized my situation. I was laying down looking up at Derek, which I happened to be laying on. I could feel the blood rush to my face. I closed my eyes hoping I would disappear. I felt my body begin to shake and I started to panic. Then I heard it, an amazing sound that I have grown to love so much. Derek was laughing. It was a jolly sound that rumbled from his chest and shook his body as he tried to breathe through such an explosion of emotion. It might have been too much for him to handle because soon he back to the ground. There was such happiness in his voice I couldn't help but join him, even if he was laughing at me.

Once the both of us calmed down and whipped away our tears we stayed tangled in each other. My head nestled in Derek's neck while he ran gentle fingers through my hair. He smelt amazing! He smelled like the forest right after a rain. Derek leaned his head over and kissed the top of my head. I felt his chest rise and fall as he breathed and his warm breath ruffled my hair. I had to get up or I would fall asleep again. I arched my back in a cat stretch a yawn escaping my lips. I fell back to Derek's chest with a great sigh.

"Can we go for a walk?" I asked him.

He made a noise I assumed to be a yes. I stood to my feet with great effort. I stretched my arms above my head. I straitened my floral shirt and ran my fingers through my hair to make sure it was smooth. I slipped on my flip flops and looked back at Derek. He was leaned back on his arms with his legs stretched out in front of him. There was a sexy lazy smirk on his handsome face.

I reached a hand out to him. He reached up took my hand. He smelled my skin and kissed my knuckles. The heat retuned to my face. He laughed gently under his breath and stood up, towering over me. We walked down a paved sidewalk to a small corner ice cream shop, our hands swinging between us. Derek took me to a small corner table and went to go order our ice creams. While he was gone I gazed out the window. The street was quiet. Not much to look at so I was glad when Derek came back with a single scoop vanilla ice cream for me. I started on my cone and looked over at his enormous triple scoop chocolate cone. My mouth watered.

"Can I try that?" I asked looking up at him through my lashes. He smiled and handed me the cone. I handed him my wimpy vanilla and took a small lick. His was so good!

"You're not going to give that back are you?" He asked smiling.

"You'd have to fight me for it." I said honestly remembering what happened when we fought over his sandwich. A spark of light passed through his eyes. A shiver rolled through my body, and not from the ice cream. He scooted his chair next to mine. I watched out of the corner of my eye as I look another lick. He never looked away from me. "Um, so what did you do before you picked me up?" I asked, hopping to distract him from fighting me.

"I went on a run." He said.

"I didn't know you ran." I said surprised it had never come up.

"Yeah I like to run." He said truthfully. I could just tell by the sound of his voice that it made him happy.

"How did you get into it?" I asked licking the cone. Derek took a lick from my vanilla ice cream looking me in the eye while he did so. He was teasing me! I felt a shiver wreck through my body. He laid his head on my shoulder and wrapped an arm around my waist. I was engulfed in warmth, but I wasn't cold in the first place. He was affecting me, not the cold.

"I use to have anger issues, being in a house with Simon and Tori puts a toll on ones tolerance." I could hear the smile through his voice. His hand pushed up my tank top and shirt to get to the skin of my hip. He started to rub slow heated circles on my hip.

"Running-g helped you control yo-our anger-r?" I stuttered because of how close he was.

"Yeah, it gives me a break from the house. I go into the woods we have behind my house and I can't even see the house so I don't have to think about it. Running gives me time to work things out in my mind when I can't concentrate." He said leaning closer to me. I took another tentative lick of chocolate. When Derek leaned in to my face and placed a sweet kiss on my check. I could smell him being this close. It made since he would smell like woods now.

"How often do you run?"

"Two times a day at least." He said leaning closer.

"Wow." I breathed out. He made a noise in the back of his throat.

"I'm wondering.." He drawled off.

"What?" I asked I couldn't turn to look at him because he was so close; the tip of his nose touched my cheek. He breathed out a hot breath. What Derek did next I never would have guessed.

He reached his tongue out and licked up the side of my check. I squeaked and jumped away from him rubbing my check. In all the commotion the top scoop of chocolate ice cream fell to the floor. (HAHAHA CLASIC CLICHE)

I looked down and began to laugh at the irony.
"What were you wondering?" I asked curiously.

"If you tasted like vanilla." He said.

"And?"

"You taste better, like strawberry ice cream." He said smiling at me shyly. I kissed his blushing check.

"I'm sorry I made you lose a scoop," he said scratching the back of his neck. It was a nervous habit of his.

"It was yours in the first place, but I don't mind." I said smiling. He smiled back at me. After we cleaned up the mess, we sat in the parlor talking. He told me stories of Simon and Tori and there bickering. We never went into the deep dark stuff like how he was adopted or how my mother died. We stayed happy.

"We should probably head back I don't want to walk in the park when it's dark," he said. I agreed walking beside him holding onto his hand.

We got to the park, but Derek suddenly started to walk faster. He let go of my hand and wrapped a strong arm around my waist. I don't know why he was in such a hurt we had another hour before the sun set.

"Derek. Derek! Tell me what's wrong. Why are we leaving so fast?" I asked him losing my patients.

"I have a bad… uh, feeling. I'm getting us out of her to protect us from them." He said in a rush.

"Them? Who are Them, Derek? Derek, would you answerer me." I demanded. Before Derek could think of anything to say someone else answered for me.

"We'll look what we have here. Pup's got himself a mate and she's a stubborn bitch," an eerie voice said behind us.
