Chapter Six - White Walls
~ A Teen Wolf fanfiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn.~
"Hello, Teagan." Dr. Deaton greeted her as she opened the door and walked into the vet clinic.
"I'm sorry, I know it's pretty late." She apologized with an empathetic smile as she held onto Aspen's leash.
"It's alright, we're still open." He said as he nodded to the open sign on the door behind her.
She smiled and nodded in thanks.
"Hey, Teagan." Scott greeted as he walked in from the back.
"Hey." She greeted back.
"What's going on with Aspen?" Deaton asked her as he nodded for her to follow him into one of the exam rooms.
"I was hoping you could just check him over, make sure he's healthy and there's nothing wrong with him." She explained.
"What makes you think something is wrong with him?" He questioned as Scott lifted the dog up onto the exam table.
"Well, I read online that sometimes if a dog is sick or in pain… they might snap at their owners." She clarified.
"So he tried to bite you?" Deaton asked.
Tucking some hair behind her ear Teagan said, "He's never tried to bite me before… ever."
"I'll look him over, but it's probably nothing. Something might have just spooked him." Deaton explained as he began to examine the dog.
Seeing Teagan was still worried and upset Scott said, "He looks healthy."
"A lot of animals seem to be acting weird." Scott continued to think out loud.
Nodding Teagan said, "Lydia told me that she and Allison had a deer run right into her car."
When she saw Scott and Deaton exchange looks she said, "Am I missing something?"
"There was an incident with the cats here." Dr. Deaton explained as he felt Aspen's joints to make sure he wasn't in pain.
"An incident?" She asked, a sick feeling rising in her stomach as she looked to Scott expecting an answer.
"They uh, they killed themselves." Scott finally said.
"What?" Teagan gasped, a look of horror on her face.
"Every single one of them." Dr. Deaton said nodding with a somber expression as he walked over to the sink and washed his hands.
"Oh my god, that's terrible." She said as she immediately thought of Avery's kitten Annabel and was happy that Stiles had been watching the kitten.
As he dried his hands off, he said "Everything looks good. I don't really see a need to run any further tests."
"Thank you so much!" Teagan said appreciatively as she walked over and wrapped her arms around her dog.
"No problem, and if you think he seems to be acting strange or he snaps at you again bring him back in." He said.
"I will." Teagan replied with a smile as she headed up to the front with Dr. Deaton to pay the bill.
"Bye, Teagan." Scott said with a friendly smile as he started to sanitize the table.
"See you tomorrow." Teagan called over her shoulder.
Just as she paid her bill and was getting ready to leave the door opened.
"Kyle!" Teagan greeted with a smile.
The high school senior returned the smile, "Hey, Teagan."
"Aw! Oh my god, he's so cute! Is this Berretta?" She questioned remembering a conversation she'd had with him about pets at school one day.
He laughed as he leaned down and picked his dog up, "No, this is Berretta's brother Bullet."
Smiling Teagan walked over and started to scratch the dog behind its ears.
"He likes you." Kyle said.
Smiling Teagan said, "I've always been good with animals."
"Did you bring the stool sample?" Dr. Deaton asked as he greeted Kyle.
"Yeah, I got it right here." Kyle said as he held up a bag in his other hand.
Teagan and Aspen followed everyone back into the same exam room that they'd just come out off.
Scott, Teagan and Kyle talked amongst themselves as Dr. Deaton looked the smaller dog over.
"You said on the phone he's not been eating or drinking?" He asked, as he walked over to a cabinet.
"Right, he didn't eat at all yesterday and he's only drank a little bit of water." Kyle said as he looked down to where Aspen was now standing beside him, looking him over.
"Hey buddy." He said as he reached down and petted Aspen on his head.
Teagan frowned at hearing how sick Bullet had been. She was happy that there hadn't been anything wrong with Aspen, and she understood what Kyle was feeling.
"Well, I'm going to give him a shot. This should help him feel better by the morning." Dr. Deaton said as he nodded for Scott to help him.
Teagan watched as Scott held Bullet down on his side so he wouldn't move or try to bite the vet when he gave him a shot.
"Is this going to hurt?" Kyle asked as he cringed when he saw the needle.
"A little, but I find it's the usually the owners who feel the most pain." He said with a smile to the teenager.
Kyle smiled back and hoped that the medicine would help his dog.
"Alright, well we'll check over the stool sample you brought in for parasites. But my guess is he probably just ate something he shouldn't have." Dr. Deaton said, his words immediately easing the teenagers nerves.
Before Scott picked Bullet up to sit him on the floor, Teagan petted him and looked at Kyle, "I hope he feels better soon."
"Thanks." He replied.
She checked the time on her phone and said, "I should probably be getting home. See you guys tomorrow at school."
They both said bye to her and Dr. Deaton told her to have a good night.
As Teagan and Aspen were leaving the room she heard Kyle say, "Looks like he knows who the alpha is."
Her dark brown eyes widened and she spun around to see Scott petting the dog and Bullet happily laying down and submitting to him.
She shook her head and let out a small laugh as she headed out to her car. A year ago the phrase wouldn't have made her think twice, but so much had changed since them.
~()~
The next morning, Teagan walked down the hallway toward her locker with her phone in her hand as she texted with Avery. She had messaged her earlier to see if she was coming to school or wanted a ride, but Avery turned down the offer, saying she was going to stay home. She wasn't up to returning to school yet, which Teagan didn't blame her after the summer she had, but it still worried her.
She told Avery to call her if she needed anything, then slipped her phone into her purse as she opened her locker door and put her books away since her first class that morning P.E and they were going on a run, which she was happy about, since she had always loved to run.
As she shut her locker door, she heard her cellphone ringing and pulled it out, she smiled when she saw who it was. She quickly walked into the first restroom she saw, hoping it would be quieter and give her privacy.
"Hey, you! Long time, no talk. I was starting to think you forgot all about me." Teagan said, as soon as she answered the phone.
When she heard his laughter over the phone, she smiled, as she realized how much she had missed him. It had been awhile since the two had talked cause of the time difference and she couldn't help but think that Beacon Hills just wasn't the same without Jackson Whittemore.
"I could never forget you T, you know that." Jackson said.
"You better not. Especially after I helped carry all of your crap up all of those stairs. My calves are still killing me by the way." Teagan said back. She had went to London over the summer to help him move into a new apartment his dad bought, which happened to be on the top floor, which equaled a lot of walking up and down the stairs as they carried box after box of stuff.
"Hey, I offered to give you one of my world famous massages." Jackson pointed out.
Teagan rolled her eyes as she chuckled at his comment. She knew all about his 'famous massages'. He had given her quite a few back when they dated. What would start as a massage would quickly turn into them rolling around in bed with no clothes, it was definitely something two friends should not do, especially when one had a very serious boyfriend that she loves.
"Did you forget I use to date you? I know 'famous massage' is code for wanting to get laid, which is so not happening mister." Teagan said with a laugh.
"Can't blame a guy for trying right?" Jackson joked.
"So how are things in London? Are you missing Beacon Hills yet?" Teagan asked, quickly changing the subject. Even though he knew she was with Isaac and the two of them were just friends, that still didn't stop him from flirting with her occasionally. She usually just ignored the comments and changed the subject.
"I miss my friends and all, but I really like it here." Jackson answered, then added, "it's different, which is what I needed."
"I'm glad things are great there, but we all miss you here." Teagan said honestly.
"I miss you all too." Jackson said back.
She heard him speaking to someone in the background then he came back on the phone and said, "Hey, I got to go. Some of the guys want to go grab something to eat."
"Ok, have fun! Don't 'massage' to many girls." Teagan joked.
"I won't." Jackson said back with a laugh, then added seriously,"Besides there is only one girl I want to 'massage'."
Teagan cleared her throat, unsure what to say back to that. She heard him chuckle over the phone then call out a 'bye' before hanging up.
After the call ended, Teagan slipped the phone back into her purse then turned to look at the mirror. She was in the middle of smoothing down her hair, when the door opened and Allison walked in. She tried not to groan out loud as the other brunette flashed her a smile and walked over to her.
"Hey, there you are. I was looking for you." Allison said, as she stopped beside Teagan.
"Well you found me." Teagan said back with a tight smile, as she glanced over at Allison through the mirror.
"I spoke to Avery this morning and she told me how you two want to learn some self-defense moves and train on weapons." Allison said, recapping her earlier conversation with the blonde, then added, "and I would love to help you two. I think it's great that you two want to learn, besides it'll be fun hanging out. We all haven't done that in awhile."
"You're right, we haven't." Teagan said, agreeing with her. She finally turned to face Allison as she snapped, "but that's cause you went all bat shit crazy, shooting arrows at everyone and stabbed my boyfriend, repeatedly."
Allison's face fell at her words, she knew she had done a lot wrong, but she was trying to make up for it and she thought, or rather, hoped this was a step in the right direction.
"I've apologized about that Teagan, I really am sorry for all the harm I caused." Allison said sincerely, then added, "but I had just lost my mom, surely you can understand that."
"I do, ok? I understand how devastating it is to lose a mother, but I didn't go around trying to murder people." Teagan pointed out.
"I know, I'm not trying to make excuses I'm just... I'm just trying to say I'm sorry and I want things to go back to the way they were." Allison said with a hopeful look.
"We can't go back, Allison." Teagan said, then added,"I appreciate the offer, I do, but I can't do it. I can't be around you and I don't think I can ever forgive you."
Allison looked down at the floor and nodded her head, accepting her answer. She still had hope that they two could be friends again, but she wasn't going to push it.
"I'm sorry." Teagan said softly, seeing the hurt look on her former friend's face. She looked at her for a moment longer then without another word turned around and walked out of the bathroom without looking back.
~()~
After leaving the bathroom, Teagan quickly went to the girl's locker room and changed into a pair of jogging pants, a black t-shirt, that she actually stole from Isaac and threw a crop hoodie on over it, then she made her way outside with the rest of her class.
The girls and boys class were combined and going on the run together, which was fine with her since that meant she got to see her boyfriend, as well as her friends, Stiles and Scott.
She stood with the other girls in her class and lifted her foot behind her, stretching out her muscles as the boys class joined them. She saw the new students, the twins, first. She gave Aiden a small friendly wave when he walked past her and smiled at her.
As Isaac walked toward her, she raised her arms above her head, causing the shirt she had on to rise up a little and giving him a glimpse of her tattoo. She saw his eyes glance down to check her out before shooting her a wink and a grin.
After Isaac stopped in front of her she rested a hand on his shoulder as she lifted her other foot to stretch, then asked,"what is that grin for?"
"Cause my girl is hot." Isaac answered, as he smiled at her again. When she was done stretching, he laid a hand on her hip and moved a little closer to her as he said quietly for her to hear,"I don't know what is hotter though... you wearing my clothes or..."
"Or what?" Teagan asked when he paused.
He moved the hand that was on her hip over toward her tattoo then added,"or the tattoo."
Teagan smiled up at him and felt a tingle down her spine at the look he was giving her, she knew exactly what that look meant and it made her just as excited as she knew he was.
She laid her hands on his chest and playfully pushed him away as she suggested, "Shouldn't you go stretch now and get ready?"
He reached out to wrap a arm around her waist and pulled her toward him as he whispered in her ear, "Trust me babe, I'm ready."
Teagan bit her bottom lip and smiled at his comment. She felt a tingle again as he chuckled in her ear then kissed the side of her head. For a moment she forgot they were at school and in the middle of a class until she heard Coach Finstock blew his whistle at them.
"Lahey! Young! Knock it off." Coach Finstock yelled out at them, then added,"you two can touch each other on your own time."
"I plan on it." Isaac whispered in her ear.
Teagan laughed at him as she pushed him away from her before the two got into trouble. She watched him walk over toward Scott then he bent down to tie his shoe.
She continued to watch him for a moment until she heard someone walk up behind her. She glanced over her shoulder and saw it was Aiden. He flashed her a smile then learned toward her as he said,"if I had to choose what was hotter, I would say it is the tattoo."
Teagan lowered her eyebrows in confusion, wondering how he could possible know what they were talking about. With where he was standing there was no way he could have heard them unless...
She softly gasped when she realized why he was able to hear. He was a werewolf.
He smirked at her, knowing she had figured it out. He leaned closer to her as he whispered,"besides I've always been a fan of butterflies."
Teagan's mouth drop open in shock, as he walked past her. She watched as he stood beside his brother, Ethan, as the two stood behind Isaac, who was still bent over tying his shoe.
She tried to open her mouth to warn Isaac, but couldn't form any words, as her heart begin to beat in her chest.
Isaac turned his head to look behind him when he heard Teagan's heart race in fear. He glanced up and saw the twins standing on either side of him, at first he was confused on why Teagan was scared or why the twins looked so familiar until he remembered. They were the ones who attacked him and the girl that tried to save him, and apparently now one of them must have said something to Teagan to scare, causing him to see red as he felt anger overtake him.
Teagan saw the look on Isaac face as soon as he saw the twins and knew he was furious. She tried to rush over to him to stop him before he did something, the last thing she wanted was for the alpha twins to hurt him again, but before she could reach him, the whistle blew and just about everyone begin to run, including the twins.
She glanced over at Scott, who was closed to Isaac, her eyes pleading with him to do something as she pushed past the runners and tried to reach Isaac before he ran after the twins.
She saw Isaac stand up, getting ready to run, until Scott reached out and grabbed his arm to stop him, causing her to breath out a sigh of relief. She heard Isaac say,"it's them.", before pulling his arm away and racing after the twins.
Teagan finally reached the area Isaac was standing in, unfortunately he was already gone. She and Scott yelled out his name, begging him to wait. She looked over at Scott, opening her mouth to ask him to stop Isaac before he did something stupid, but before she could say a word, Scott said,"don't worry, I'll stop him."
Teagan nodded her head in thanks and saw Scott race up the hill. She took a deep breath, planning to run after them, although she wasn't sure if she would be able to catch them or not. She was a fast runner, but she wasn't 'werewolf fast'. She still hoped she could catch up to them in time before something terrible happened though.
With that thought in mind, she went to take a step, until someone appeared by her side and stopped her. She glanced over beside her and saw it was Stiles.
"What's going on?" Stiles asked her with a concern look on his face.
Teagan opened her mouth to answer until they heard coach blow his whistle again before yelling out,"Young! Stilinski! You're suppose to be running. This is a running class, not a 'stand around and do nothing' class. Do that in your other classes."
"So that means for the rest of the day I can stand around and do nothing?" Stiles questioned, then added,"I mean, you did just give us permission to ..."
Coach blew the whistle a few times to interrupt him, then pointed in the direction everyone else went in as he yelled out,"Go! Now!"
"Come on. I'll explain while we run." Teagan said quietly to Stiles, as she lightly grabbed his jacket sleeve as she begin to run and pull him along with her.
Teagan ran as fast as she could, looking for Scott, one of the twins or more importantly, Isaac. She held on to Stiles' sleeve as the two ran side by side or more specifically, she ran while she dragged a stumbling Stiles, trying to get him to keep up with her.
She quickly caught him up on what was going on or at least tried to. She tried to tell him that the twins were alphas and they needed to stop Isaac from doing anything stupid, but instead it came out as, 'twins', 'alphas', 'Isaac', 'stupid', 'help'.
"What?" Stiles breathed out feeling confused, as he tried to keep up with her. "Wait, hold on." He said, as he reached out to grab her hand that was holding his sleeve as he brought them to a stop.
He bent over, resting his hands on his knees as he took several deep breaths, then stood back up to look at her, as he said,"Ok, what?"
"The new twins are alphas, Isaac is pissed, we need to stop him before he does anything ..."
"Stupid. Ok yeah, I get it now." Stiles said, finishing her sentence. He took a few more deep breaths then said,"I just need a minute to catch my..."
"We don't have a minute Stiles, we have to go." Teagan interrupted. She felt bad for rushing him, but she just wanted to get to Isaac, she needed to make sure he was going to be ok.
She couldn't help but flashback to the last time he went up against alphas and felt tears in her eyes. She didn't want to see him put back into the hospital again.
Stiles saw the worried look on her face and waved her off as he said,"Go on. I'll catch up."
"Are you sure?" Teagan asked him, hating to leave him behind.
Stiles nodded his head then said,"You'll have a better chance of catching them if you're not dragging me behind you."
Teagan looked in the direction of the trail they were suppose to be running then looked back over at Stiles. With everything that has happened in the last year and everything going on now, alpha pack and dead bodies, she was worried about any of them being alone. Was it really a smart idea?
"Go. I'm right behind you." Stiles added, when he saw the look of uncertainty on her face.
Teagan nodded her head then begin to run down the trail, going faster then she was earlier when she was pulling Stiles along behind her. She turned a corner and skid to a stop with a gasp when she saw Isaac, Scott and the twins growling at each other as they faced off, preparing to fight.
"Looks like we have company." Aiden announced, when they all heard her approach.
"Hey Aiden, do you think she would survive the bite?" Ethan asked his brother, hoping to make both Scott and Isaac mad.
"I don't know." Aiden answered, as he pretended to think about it. He took a step to his left and begin to walk toward her while Ethan walked the other way, the two planning to circle around Teagan.
Aiden smirked when he heard Isaac snarl at them and stand in front of her to protect her. Aiden kept walked closer to her and flashed his teeth as he added, "I would love to find out though."
Isaac was seconds away from pouncing on one of the twins, he didn't care which one first, he would tear them both apart if he had to, but before he could move, they heard a loud scream from near by, interrupting their little rumble.
As the twins and Scott ran off to investigate, Isaac turned around to face Teagan, asking her if she was ok even thought he could tell she wasn't since he could hear her heart beating out of her chest, but she still nodded her head 'yes', telling him she was ok.
He grabbed both of her hands, bringing them up to his lips to kiss them both before the two ran to catch up with the others. The two came to a stop when they saw what everyone was looking at. It was a bloody, dead body tied to a tree.
"Oh, God." Teagan mumbled, as she laid a hand over her stomach, feeling sick. She buried her head in Isaac's shirt, when she felt him wrap an arm around her waist and pull her to him.
She took several deep breaths, trying to control her emotions, then raised her head to look at the body again. She softly gasp when she saw the leash tied around his neck. She glanced over at Scott and Stiles, the latter had finally caught up to them all. She reached out to hit Scott's arm getting his attention, as she said tearfully, "Scott, it's him. It's Kyle."
"The guy from the vet's office?" Stiles questioned them.
Scott slowly nodded his head as Teagan bit her bottom lip to keep from crying out as she looked back over at Kyle's bloody body. Isaac laid a hand on the back of her head and pulled her toward him, forcing her to bury her head again. He didn't want her to see the body anymore, she shouldn't have to see things like that.
Several minutes later, the police arrived. Stiles' dad yelled at everyone to back up as he tried to take control of the crime scene. As Stiles called out for his dad, bringing him over toward the body to point out that this guy was killed the same way as the other victims, Isaac walked off to the side, bringing Teagan with him.
He wanted to get her away from the body, from the twins, from everything. If it was up to him, he would scoop her in his arms right now and run far away from the town, but he knew he couldn't do that. He couldn't run away from his werewolf responsibility or take her from her family and friends. All he could do was protect her, which is what he was going to do every day of his life.
Teagan kept her face buried in his chest and held on to him tight. She closed her eyes as a few tears fall down her face and felt him running a hand up and down her back, trying to comfort her. When he felt moisture on his shirt from her tears, he laid his hands on either side of her face, forcing her to lift her head and look at him. He wiped the few damp tears from her cheek as he looked at her, like he was studying her face.
He opened his mouth to say something but before he could they heard a girl scream, causing them both to look back over toward the dead body to see a blonde girl crying for Kyle.
"Poor Ashley." Teagan mumbled, recognizing the girl as Kyle's girlfriend. She knew the two had been dating for years and couldn't even imagine how devastated she was right now. She reached forward to grip Isaac's shirt, thinking of all the times she had came close to losing him and felt her eye water.
Isaac leaned forward to kiss her forehead, then as if he knew what she was thinking, he whispered out, "It's ok. It's going to be ok."
"Why is this happening? Who is doing this?" Teagan whimpered out to him.
"I don't know." Isaac said, as he shook his head. He turned his head slightly to glance over his shoulder at the twins, feeling anger overtake him again, as he added, "But I have a idea who is."
Teagan laid her hand on his cheek and turned his head back to look at her, as she said quietly, "Don't let them get to you. That's what they want."
Isaac dropped his head a little to kiss the inside of her wrist. He kept his lips pressed against her skin and listened to her heartbeat with his eyes closed, willing himself to calm down, but he just couldn't.
He saw flashes of what happened to him the night he originally found Boyd and Erica, then he saw the strange girl that had tried to save him as the alpha twins chased them down and then he flashed to a few minutes ago when they threatened to bite Teagan.
She softly gasped when he opened his eyes and they flashed yellow. She laid her other hand on his face then looked deep into his eyes, trying to get him to see her, to really see her, as she whispered, "Isaac? Isaac, stay with me, ok? Please stay with me."
Isaac, hearing her pleading with him, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He tuned into her heart beat again, noticing it was racing some this time cause of her worry for him and felt himself begin relax a little. He always hated when he made her worry or scared her.
He opened his eyes again to look at her, seeing her sigh with relief when she saw the familiar blue hue of his eyes. With a soft smile, she leaned forward to kiss him until she heard someone walking over toward them, causing them to turn their heads to see who it was and saw it was Scott and Stiles.
Isaac reached down to grab one of Teagan's hands, wanting to keep her close to him, as the two begin to walk in step with the other two boys. The four teens walked quietly for a few minutes until Teagan mumbled,"Wow, I can't believe there is another dead body."
As the three boys looked down at the ground, silently agreeing with her, she glanced over Scott to look at Stiles as she asked, "What did your dad say?"
"Nothing. He just told me to get back to class." Stiles answered, then added, "But Kyle was killed exactly like the others."
Isaac spoke up and asked,"You see the way the twins looked at him?"
"Yeah, you mean like they had no idea what was happened?" Stiles pointed out.
"No, no, they knew." Isaac said back.
"The kid was strangled with a garrote, all right?" Stiles argued, then added,"Am I the only one recognizing the lack of "werewolfitude" in these murders."
"Oh, you think it's a coincidence they turn up and then people start dying?" Isaac asked back.
Teagan looked up at her boyfriend, seeing that he was getting worked up again. She squeezed his hand then gave him a small smile when he looked down at her, hoping it would help calm him down.
"Well, no. but I still don't think it's them." Stiles answered, as the four came to a stop.
"Scott?" Isaac questioned, as they all looked over at the boy in question. "How about you?" He added.
"I don't know yet." Scott answered with a small shrug.
"You don't know yet?" Stiles asked surprised. He thought it was obvious what was going on and couldn't figure out how Scott couldn't see it either.
"Teagan?" Stiles questioned, as he looked over at the silent girl. "At least tell me you see it. You do see it right, the way they are being killed. It's human sacrifices, right?"
"I... I, uh.." Teagan begin to say, as she looked in between Isaac and Stiles a few times then sighed as she added,"I don't know. I mean it is weird the alpha pack comes to town then people start dying."
She bit her bottom lip and felt bad when she saw Stiles' face fall. She hated to disappoint him, she wasn't even trying to, she just honestly didn't know if it was or not. She had no idea what was going on.
"I don't believe this." Stiles mumbled, as he ran his hands over his face, feeling extremely annoyed at the moment.
"Well they got a point." Scott said, as he gestured toward Teagan and Isaac. He looked over at Stiles then added, "Seriously, dude. Human sacrifices?"
Stiles mouth dropped open for a moment in disbelief, then he said, "Scott, your eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, okay? Hair literally grows from your cheeks and then will immediately disappear, and if I were to stab you right now, it would just magically heal, but you're telling me that you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?"
Scott sighed then looked over at Isaac and Teagan as he said, "That's a good point too."
Teagan looked up at Isaac as she nodded her head and added, "That is true, babe."
"I don't care. They killed that kid, they killed that girl that saved me." Isaac began to say, then he glanced down at Teagan for a moment as he added angrily,"They threatened you. I'm gonna kill them."
Teagan open her mouth to say something but before she could say a word, he dropped her hand and begin to walk away. She glanced over at Scott and Stiles for a moment, seeing a worried look on their faces, then said,"I'll talk to him."
Without another word, she raced after Isaac, catching up with him as he was about to walk inside the boy's locker room. She reached out to grab his arm to stop him, softly calling out his name.
"Isaac, please, please just let this one go." Teagan begged him.
"You're kidding right?" Isaac asked, then added,"They're responsible for Erica's death. For keeping Boyd and Cora locked up all summer..." He paused for a moment, a thought hit him, something he knew would get to her just as much as him.
He continued, "Those two and their little pack had Avery all summer, right under our nose. She was right here, just right within our reach Teagan and we never knew it. No telling what they could have done to her if we didn't find her when we did, no telling what they did do before we did find her."
Teagan turned her head away for a moment, thinking about what he said with her jaw clenched in anger. She turned back to look at Isaac as she said,"If you're trying to piss me off it worked. I want them to pay for what they have done to Avery and to you."
She paused for a moment to try to get control of her emotions then continued, "Ihey put you in the hospital Isaac, I could have lost you, and I'm so scared if you go after them again I will lose you. I'm scared they will kill you."
"Hey, hey, come here." Isaac said softly, as he pulled her toward him, seeing that she was getting upset. He held on to her for a few moments and kissed the top of her head as he tried to calm her down.
He pulled back to look at her then leaned forward to press a sweet kiss against her lips, before he looked at her and said, "They can't kill me and they won't hurt me again."
"You don't know that." Teagan tried to argue until he kissed her again, trying to convince her that everything would be ok.
"Isaac... you can't... I'm trying to... Isaac.." Teagan tried to say in between his kisses, until she finally thought 'screw it' and gave in to his kisses.
She wrapped her arms around his neck as he pushed her back until her back hit the door to the locker room, causing her to gasp out in surprise. Isaac smiled against her lips when he heard her gasp.
Any little noise from her could turn him on more then he had ever been turned on before, but he knew now was not the time to get carried away. For one they were still at school and two he still had the alpha twins to deal with, but even with knowing that, he couldn't stop himself from running his hands down her side then slip one hand under her shirt, resting it flat against her back and pulling her against him with a groan. He rested his forehead against hers with a pained expression on his face. He was close to not caring that they were at school, that was how badly he wanted her right now.
"Just so you know, this doesn't mean you win the argument." Teagan said softly, causing him to chuckle. She pulled her head back to look at him then said, "Please just be careful."
"You worry too much." Isaac said, as he playfully tapped the end of her nose to make her smile.
"I'm in love with a werewolf. I have to worry." She said back quietly.
He smiled at her words then leaned forward to give her a gentle kiss. He pulled back a little then said, "And this werewolf is very much in love with you and he doesn't like seeing his girl worry, so stop it."
Teagan chuckled at his comment then gave him a kiss until they heard voices and realized everyone was heading for the locker rooms since the class was about to be over.
"I should go. I want to take a quick shower before next class." Teagan said, as she pulled back from him.
"I think I need one too. I think we should save water and shower together." Isaac suggested with a grin.
Teagan shook her head and laughed at his comment. She nodded her head toward the locker room door then said, "Get in there and I'll see you later."
She gave him a quick kiss then gently pushed him back so she could walk past him and walk down the hallway. He watched her take a few steps then called out, "Yeah that's fine. We'll just save some water later tonight or something."
Teagan glanced behind her to look at him as he heard her laughter ring out throughout the hall, causing him to smile. He always loved her laughter.
After he saw her turn a corner to head for the girl's locker room, he turned and walked into the boy's locker room and made his way over to his locker, taking out his clothes from earlier to change back into after a quick shower. He was about to shut the locker door until he caught a whiff of a scent, a werewolf scent.
He quickly spun around and saw Aiden standing before him with a cocky grin on his face. He reached out to hand Isaac a necklace, which he quickly recognized was Teagan's, a necklace he had given her over the summer.
"You might want to give that back to that beautiful girlfriend of yours." Aiden said, a grin still on his face.
Without another word, Aiden turned to walk away until Isaac stepped up and grabbed his arm, turning him around to face him as he asked angrily,"why do you have this?"
Aiden leaned toward him to say quickly for only him to hear, "To show you how close I have been to her before and how easily I can be again."
"You touch her and I swear..."
"Don't push me and I won't." Aiden interrupted him, as he grabbed Isaac's hand bending his fingers back until he heard them snap.
Isaac fell to his knees with a painful groan. He looked down at his hand, waiting for his broken fingers to heal, then when he looked back up Aiden was gone, but one thing that wasn't gone, was his anger.
~()~
After Teagan took a shower and changed back into her school clothes, she walked out of the girls' locker room and was surprised to see Scott waiting for her.
"Hey, what's going on?" Teagan asked him, as she placed her purse strap on her shoulder. She begin to walk toward her locker, planning to put her gym bag inside and grab the books she would need for chemistry, her next class.
"I take it your talk with Isaac didn't go well." Scott said with a sigh, as he walked beside her down the hallway.
Teagan shot him a confused look as she asked, "What?"
"I thought you were going to try to calm him down about the twins." Scott explained, as they stopped at her locker.
"I did." Teagan, as she felt herself blush when she thought about their make out session outside the locker room. She cleared her throat then looked back over at Scott, feeling confused, as she added, "When we went our separate ways he was ok, I mean he's still not happy about them, but he was calm when I left."
"Well he's not now." Scott commented, as they heard a locker door slam shut near by. The two glanced down the long hallway and saw a angry Isaac walking toward the classroom they all had next.
"What the hell?" Teagan mumbled, as she rushed down the hallway after him with Scott behind her. She couldn't figure out what could have happened between then and now to make him so mad again.
Teagan walked into chemistry class and saw Isaac sitting at a table near the front. His jaw was clenched and he had his elbow on the table with his face resting in his hand. She even saw him rapidly tapping one of his feet as he stared straight ahead, not even seeing her or Scott, he was to lost in his rage.
Teagan sat her books down on the table and sat down on the stool beside her boyfriend. She saw Scott out of the corner of her eye sit down at the table behind them and was relieved that he was nearby in case she couldn't reach Isaac and he would need to calm him down.
Isaac heard her say his name, trying to get his attention, but he ignored her. He hated to do it, but he knew just one look at her would calm him down which was the last thing he wanted right now. He didn't want to be calm, he wanted to kill the alpha twins. The sooner the better.
"Isaac? Isaac, what happened?" Teagan whispered to him, trying to reach out to him again, as their teacher Mr. Harris walked into the class room right as the bell rang.
"Alright, everyone, let's settle down." Mr. Harris said, as he tried to quiet down his class. "That means you too, Ms. Young." He added, when he heard her whispering to Isaac again.
"No one cares about your high school drama. Save it for after class." Mr. Harris said to her, as he turned around and began to write something on the board.
Teagan glanced back to look at Scott, pleading to him to say something and hoped Isaac would listen to him since he was apparently ignoring her.
"They're here for a reason." Scott whispered to Isaac, as he leaned over his table to speak to him. "Give me a chance to figure it out before you do anything, ok?" He added.
"Isaac, please." Teagan whispered to him, hoping they were getting through to him. She even reached out to lay a hand on his leg, giving it a small squeeze.
She saw him take a deep breath as his foot stopped moving, making her think they did it, they reached him and he would finally calm down. Instead he removed his hand from his face then called out,"Mr. Harris, can I use the bathroom, please?"
Mr. Harris gestured toward the door, giving him permission to leave the room. Isaac quickly stood up and made his way toward the door as Teagan glanced at Scott over her shoulder wondering what they should do now.
Scott quickly stood up as he said, "I have to go to the bathroom too."
"So do I." Teagan added, as she too stood up. She didn't know what Scott's plan was but she was going to be there, she was going to be there for Isaac.
Mr. Harris shot the two teens with an annoyed look as he said,"One at a time."
"But I really have to go. Like, medical emergency have to go." Scott argued.
"Mr. McCall, if your bladder suddenly exploded and urine began to pour from every orifice, I would still respond, 'one at a time.'." Mr. Harris said back.
"Is that enough hyperbole for you or would you like me to come up with something more vivid." Mr. Harris added, as he looked at Scott.
"No. No. That's pretty good." Scott mumbled, as he sat back down in his seat.
Teagan looked at him with a surprise look, she couldn't believe he was giving up so easily. She turned back to look at her teacher as she said, "But Mr. Harris, it really is an emergency. Plus I have a female thing and I really have to go."
"Ms. Young, having female problems once a month does not make you special." Mr. Harris said with a sigh, then added, "Now sit down and wait your turn."
Teagan glanced over at the door, itching to run after her boyfriend, then looked over at Mr. Harris, seeing that he was getting even more annoyed at her the longer she was standing there. She turned her head to look at Scott one more time, wondering if he was going to do something or not, but all he did was shoot her a apologetic smile. He wanted to help but he didn't want to get in trouble, he was trying so hard to be a better student this year and pissing off Harris was never a good idea, but Teagan didn't care though, all she cared about was Isaac.
"Screw it." Teagan mumbled, as she rushed to the door, ignoring Mr. Harris as he called out to her, telling her to stop.
Like Scott, she didn't want to get in to trouble either, but this was Isaac. She had to go after him. She ran out into the hallway then skid to a stop when she saw one of the twins laying on the floor, at first glance it looked like Isaac beat him up, but when Isaac turned his head to look at her, she could tell by the look on his face that he was just as surprised as her and she knew in that moment that he didn't do it.
"What is this? What's going on?" Mr. Harris asked, as he and the rest of the class walked out into the hall.
Teagan took a step toward Isaac, reaching out and grabbing his hand, as Danny kneeled down to check on Ethan.
Ethan looked over at Harris as he lied and said, "Uh, he just.. he just came at me."
"Isaac what did you do?" Mr. Harris asked angrily.
Teagan shot Ethan a dirty look, understanding what he and his brother were doing. They were screwing with Isaac, setting him up to make it seem like he did something he didn't do, but all it was really doing was pissing them all off.
"Come on everyone, nothing else to see. Get back to class." Mr. Harris said to his class, as he tried to get them back into the room. He looked over at Isaac and Teagan as he said, "And I'll see you both at lunchtime detention."
As Harris and the rest of the students turned around and walked back into the room, Scott walked over to Teagan and Isaac. Even though Scott was mad at how the twins set up Isaac, he was still trying to talk Isaac out of doing anything back, he knew it would just make things worst but Isaac didn't care, he wanted the twins to pay.
While the two boys begin to walk back into the class room, argued back and forth, Teagan saw Danny helping Ethan up to his feet to help led him to the nurse's office. Feeling worried about her friend, she begin to walk down the hall after them. She wanted to warn Danny about Ethan before he did something to hurt her childhood friend.
She opened her mouth to call out to Danny, but before she could say a word, she felt someone pulling her into a janitor's closet. She gasp in surprise when she felt the person push her face first against the door and place a hand over her mouth. She begin to wiggle around, trying to get away from the hands that was holding her. She felt the person lean toward her and say in her ear,"stop moving. I'm not going to hurt you."
"Aiden?" Teagan asked, after he removed his hand from her mouth, recognizing his voice.
He took a step back from her and waited until she turned around to face him before he added,"at least not yet.'
"What are you doing?" Teagan asked him confused, wondering why he pulled her into a closet.
"I'm going to give you a little friendly advice." Aiden said, then added, "But I'm only going to do this once so listen close and don't ask any questions, just do as I say."
He paused for a minute, making sure he had her attention, then said,"Stay out of it."
"What?" Teagan asked.
"What did I just say?" Aiden snapped, as he took a step toward her, causing her to back up against the door when she saw his eyes flash red. "I know you and the orphaned beta have a doomed love affair going on and you want to help him and the others, but you need to back off." He added.
He saw her open her mouth to argue but before she could say a word, he said, "We're not after you. We don't want to hurt you. This is your one and only chance to walk away and I suggest you take it."
"I don't care. You almost killed my boyfriend ..."
"He stuck his nose in where it doesn't belong." Aiden said interrupting her.
"You kidnapped my best friend and did God knows what to her..."
"We never hurt Avery." He said interrupting her again, then added,"And we won't hurt her, as long as she..."
"As long as she what?" Teagan asked when he paused, then said angrily,"Are you threatening her? If you are I swear I'll..."
"Walk away." Aiden snapped, as he flashed his teeth at her.
"Walk away now or else." He added calmly.
"Or else what? You're going to kill me?" Teagan asked, challenging him.
"Won't be the first time we killed someone who got pulled in middle of the werewolf world." Aiden answered, as he shot her a smug smile like he knew something she didn't.
When she didn't say anything back, he added,"Like I said, this is your one and only chance."
He walked toward her, heading for the door, but thinking he was going to hurt her, she jumped off to the side with a small gasp. He smirked when he heard her heart racing and knew he had scared her.
He opened the door then looked over at her for a minute, there was one more thing he wanted to say to her, something he knew would get to her.
"Hopefully you'll make the right choice cause I would hate it if your dad had to bury his daughter like he did his wife." Aiden said with a cocky grin as he walked out of the closet.
Teagan released a breath she didn't realize she was holding and lowered her eyebrows in confusion at him mentioning her mother. She felt tears fill her eyes as she thought about her mom and wondered how he could possible know about that. Sure anyone could find out about it if they researched it, but she couldn't imagine why any of the alpha pack would research her family.
She thought about following after him to question him until something on the floor caught her eye. She bent down and softly smiled when she realized what it was, it was the keys to Aiden's bike.
She heard the bell ringing, signaling the end of class and quickly picked up the keys. She slipped them into her pocket in case they needed them later for something, then walked out of the closet and into the crowded hallway.
She went to take a step toward her locker when she felt someone grab her arm. She froze for a moment, thinking it was Aiden again, until she caught a whiff of the person's cologne. She relaxed when she realized it was Isaac who had grabbed her arm, with Scott standing right behind him.
The three walked down the hallway together then turned down another hallway as they looked for a place for them to privately talk. Scott, noticing a empty classroom, begin to walk toward it and motioned for Isaac and Teagan to follow him.
"Where were you?" Isaac asked her, as soon as they walked into the room. "You were right behind us and then you were gone. What happened?" He added before she can say a word.
Teagan took a deep breath as she looked between her boyfriend and friend, she knew her answer would only piss Isaac off even more, but she couldn't lie to him. Even if he couldn't hear her heartbeat giving her away, he could see right through her lies, he knew her that well.
"Did something happen? Are you ok?" Scott asked, beginning to worry about her the longer she stayed silent.
"I'm ok." Teagan said, causing them both to breathe a sigh of relief.
"He didn't hurt me or anything, I promise" She added, hoping to ease their minds.
"He who?" Isaac asked, getting angry again.
"Isaac you should calm down." Scott suggested to him.
"He who?" Isaac growled, ignoring Scott.
"I wanted to go warn Danny, about Ethan, but Aiden grabbed me." Teagan begin to explain. Before either boy could lose their cool, she quickly explained that he just wanted to warn her to stay out of things, but left out the threats he had made, she knew Isaac would really be pissed if he knew about that.
"I'm going to kill him. I swear I will kill him." Isaac mumbled, as he balled his hand into a fist and begin to pace the floor.
"No you're not." Teagan said, as she grabbed his hand to stop him and hopefully calm him down.
The two looked over at Scott when they heard him take several deep breaths. He didn't turn his head to look at them, but he could feel their eyes on him, causing him to ask them why they were looking at him.
"Now they're getting to you." Isaac said with a smirk, glad that Scott was on his side, now maybe he would agree to going after the alpha twins.
"You shouldn't let them get to either one of you." Teagan pointed out, as she looked up at Isaac then over at Scott.
"He put his hands on you." Isaac said to her, then added, "Between that and everything else they have done, I'm not letting it go anymore. I'm going to make them pay."
Scott slowly released a breath, trying to calm himself down, as he said,"she's right."
"What?" Isaac asked surprised. Just a minute ago it almost seemed like Scott was on his side, but somehow he calmed himself down and was thinking straight again.
"I know it's hard, after everything they have done, but Teagan is right, we can't let them get to us." Scott explained.
As the bell begin to ring, Scott walked toward the door then added,"look I don't like any of this either, but until we know more, we shouldn't make a move. Promise me you won't do anything."
Teagan looked up at Isaac, seeing that he had his jaw clenched in anger. She knew he would never agree on his own, forcing her to say to Scott, "We promise."
Scott gave them a short nod, thanking them, then walked out of the room, leaving the couple alone.
The two were quiet for a moment, until Isaac looked down at the floor and whispered out, "I'm sorry."
"For what?" Teagan asked, as she looked over at him confused.
"Aiden has been too close to you to many times and I wasn't there for you." Isaac admitted quietly, then he looked up at her, the two locking eyes as he added, "If he would have hurt you... if I ever lost you... I-"
"Hey, it's ok. I'm ok." Teagan interrupted. She walked over to him, wrapping her arms around him and holding him close as she added, "You're never going to lose me, Isaac. It's always you and me, remember?"
Isaac nodded his head in agreement as he kissed the top of her head and held on to her, finally allowing her presence to slowly calm him down.
As the two held each other, Teagan realized Avery was right the day before, they needed Allison to train them. With the alpha pack messing with their loved ones and all the murders, she and Avery needed to be prepared, as much as she dreaded being around her former friend, they needed to learn what she knew. The sooner the better.
~()~
"Avery." Richard said as he stood in the doorway of his daughters room.
"What dad?" She asked not turning around as she rolled the thick paint onto her walls.
"There's someone here to see you." He said.
Laying the paint roller down in the paint tray she turned around and saw Derek standing next to her dad.
Rolling her eyes she said, "I told you, I didn't want to talk to anyone."
"Yeah, well. I want you to talk to someone, and obviously that person isn't going to be me. So I let him in." He said looking around her room before he slapped Derek on the back of his shoulder and said, "Good luck."
Taking a few steps into the room Derek looked around at the freshly painted bright white walls and said, "This is definitely different."
He watched her as she sighed and shook her head, seeming irritated that anyone was even talking to her.
She couldn't believe her dad. She knew for a fact that he'd listened to her and sent both Lydia and Stiles away from the house, saying Avery didn't feel like talking or seeing anyone, that she was still jet lagged and exhausted from her long trip.
And then out of all people he let Derek in to see her, most fathers of teenage daughters would have had a heart attack if their daughter had started dating someone older than them, with such an intimidating appearance.
But not her dad, for some reason. Despite all of the arrests, murder charges, imposing appearance and age difference… her dad had always liked him.
"Why are you painting your room white?" he questioned, finally.
Sighing again she said, "If I wanted to talk, I'd go see a therapist."
"Okay, we don't have to talk then, we'll paint in silence." He said as he pulled off his jacket and dropped it on her bed that was pulled out into the middle of the large, open room.
Her eyes drifted over him, his muscles rippled under the thin fabric of his gray t-shirt, as he effortlessly moved her heavy dresser away from the only wall that hadn't been covered in white paint.
Hearing her heart start to beat a little faster he looked over just in time to see her quickly look away, trying to pretend she hadn't been watching him.
A smile toyed at the corner of his lips, as he picked up another paint tray and walked over to the wall and started to silently paint.
After watching him for a few moments she went back to painting as well. But after about 10 minutes the silence was more than she could take and she sighed in defeat, "I picked white because…"
He glanced over at her, their eyes meeting for a few seconds before she focused back on the wall and admitted, "It's just… maybe I'll start to feel safe again if it's harder for someone to sneak up on me. With all the dark colors I had in here, there was just… so many places, so many shadows someone could hide."
Unable to find words, he turned and watched as she painted the new bright white color that almost seemed to illuminate the walls itself.
"It's okay." She said her voice barely over a whisper, "You don't have to understand, I guess I'm kind of trying to just drive out the darkness."
"I do understand." He assured her.
They remained silent until they'd completely painted over the formerly dark hued walls. Looking around she said, "Thanks for the help."
As she gathered up the supplies, he finally asked, "When you say less places for someone to hide, are you talking about the alphas… or are you talking about…"
She cut him off, "I had dealt with it, okay? I dealt with what she did to me, but then at the airport. I was getting my luggage out of the car and before I even knew what was happening I'd been grabbed, tied up and thrown into a van. And… all I could think was that it was happening all over again, that Kate had somehow came back."
His eyes searched her face, a pained look on his own face, but she could also see something else in his eyes.
"I know what you're thinking… a pack of werewolves held me captive and my biggest fear is someone who is dead and can't hurt me… but they gave me one meal a day and locked me away, she tortured me."
"I don't think you ever did deal with what happened." He admitted, knowing she wasn't going to like the honesty.
"I dealt with it." She snapped, then shot him an apologetic frown, "I just don't know who I am anymore, I don't know who I should be…"
Tears burnt her eyes and she turned to start towards the bathroom, not wanting to break down in front of him, but also aware that the waterworks were coming whether she liked it or not.
Gently grabbing her arm he brought her to a stop, and spun her around to face him.
"Derek, don't…" she pleaded as she laid her hands flat against his chest trying to push him back, but he kept his hold on her. Ever since the summer in the bank, she'd been pushing people away, even physically away from her.
"When you think about Kate Argent or the alpha pack… anyone who has ever hurt you; you need to remember something, and that's that you're here right, now. Avery, you've survived so much and you don't give yourself nearly enough credit for how strong you are." His gruff tone contrasted the comforting words as he watched tears roll down her make up free face.
Her chin quivered, and she took in a body quaking breath as she turned her face away from him.
But he kept talking despite her struggle to break free, "You may not see it, but I do."
Letting go of the way he'd had her pinned he, he held onto the sides of her face, making her look at him as he quietly admitted, "I should have known something was wrong this summer, and found you. I'm sorry." His quiet tone only made her chin quiver more, that was the tone he'd use even when they were alone to signify what he was saying was for her ears only.
This was the side of Derek Hale that only she truly got to see.
Slowly she nodded her head and took a few steps forward, her shaky fingers curling onto his shirt, as she buried her face against his chest.
Breathing in the subtle notes of his cologne she closed her eyes, remembering that scent and how safe he made her feel. As his arms folded around her, he almost seemed to read her mind as he quietly breathed out, "You're safe now, it's okay."
A/N- Thank you all for reading! Wow, I didn't realize this was such a longer chapter until I read back over it. Lol Do we have any Avery/Derek fans left out there?
I've been trying to update regularly, and hopefully will be able to stick to updating every Monday, maybe even sometimes more than just once a week.
