Chapter Fifteen - What's Right?
~ A Teen Wolf fanfiction collaboration between Miss E Charlotte and Sage Londyn.~
Teagan didn't know how long she had been asleep, but when she felt something hit her forehead, she opened her eyes. Seeing that it was now dark and had begun to rain she slowly sat up, looking around the cemetery. She barely remembered driving to it, but yet here she was.
She knew it was probably irresponsible to take off like she did, they still needed to find Deaton in time and save Derek from the alpha pack, the same pack that tore her mother to shreds, but she knew she couldn't hide away. Her friends needed her. She just hoped like hell nothing happened while she was gone.
With that thought in mind, she turned to look at her mother's tombstone one last time. She kissed the tip of her fingers then touched it as she whispered out, 'I love you'.
She stood up from the ground as the skies opened and the rain began to pour down, causing her to run to her car. After sliding in behind the wheel, she pushed her damp hair from her face and took a deep breath, knowing it was time to return to the real world.
Without checking her cell phone, she pulled out into the road and made her way home. She figured she would change into some dry clothes then check in with everyone. She wasn't at the cemetery that long or so she thought. She just needed a few extra minutes to get her head on straight and her emotions in check before she jumped into anything.
Several minutes later, she parked the car, then rushed toward the front door, getting soaked with rain once again. She walked into the house, slamming the door, then rushing toward the stairs to go to her room, ignoring Aspen who came running over toward her.
The white dog followed her up the stairs and into her room. He silently watched her as she kicked off her wet shoes then unbutton her pants. She was in the middle of trying to push the wet denim past her hips, when Aspen began to bark, followed by a hard knock coming from the window.
Teagan saw Aspen leave the room, as she snapped her head to the side, her wet hair sticking to her face. She pushed it aside and lowered her eyebrows in confusion when she saw it was Isaac; a very upset and pissed off Isaac.
She walked over to the window, unlocked it and helped him raise it. She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, he beat her to it.
"Where the hell have you been?" He snapped, as his eyes scanned over her, checking for any injuries.
"I was... I had..." Teagan began to say, as she pointed off to the side, not sure what to say. She laid her hand on the side of her head, as she added, "What are you doing here? I thought you were at the loft in case the alpha pack showed up."
"They did." Isaac said, as a pained look came across his face. "Teagan, they had Avery with them." He added.
"What?" Teagan asked with wide eyes. "Is she-Is she ok?" She questioned, as she laid her hands on her stomach, fearing the worst. She couldn't lose Avery, she couldn't lose her best friend. Her eyes flickered over Isaac, as she added, "Are you ok?"
"No, I'm not!" Isaac snapped, then added, "Damn it, Teagan, where were you? When I saw them bring in Avery, my heart stopped." He paused a moment to take a deep breath, trying get control of his anger, before continuing, "I thought if they gotten to her, they got to you too. Then I tried to call you. I've called you over and over again. Do you have any idea what was going through my head? I thought they killed you too!"
She stared up at him, no emotion on her face, as he yelled at her. She took a deep breath, slowly releasing it, before turning around and walking toward the vanity table in the corner. She picked up the brush sitting on top, absentmindedly brushing her wet hair, as she mumbled, "I'm sorry. I had-I had something to do. I had to see my mom."
"Your mom?" Isaac asked confused, as he took a few steps toward her. He stood behind her, watching her brush her hair as if she was in a daze. "Teagan what the hell are you talking about?" He asked. He looked her over again, noticing she had some dirt on the back of her pants, which had now turned to mud thanks to the rain. He grabbed her shoulders, turning her around to face him, as he said, "You were at the cemetery? This whole time, you were at the cemetery?"
"I had to see my mom." Teagan numbly repeated.
"What?" Isaac breathed out. He ran his hands over his face, before yelling out, "Teagan, do you have any idea what happened tonight? The alpha pack kidnapped Avery, again! They forced Derek to kill..." He paused for a minute, getting choked up. "They killed Boyd. He's-He's gone. He's gone, Teagan."
"Oh, my God." Teagan breathed out, as tears filled her eyes. "Oh, my God, Isaac, I'm so- I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." She added, as she wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him close.
She felt him shaking in her arms, as the reality of losing his pack mate hit him. She ran a hand up and down his back, trying to comfort him. She knew a pack was like your family and losing a member was like losing a piece of yourself. She knew exactly how that felt, they both did, they have lost too much and it felt like losing a piece of their heart every time.
"He's gone and I thought-" Isaac began to say. He raised his head to look at her, tears streaming down his face as he continued, "I've lost my whole family and now I've lost two pack members, and I thought- I thought I had lost you too." He laid his hands on either side of her face, as he added, "I can't lose you. God damn it, I can't lose you too."
She opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, he pressed his lips against hers for a heated kiss. After watching his pack mate being murdered before his eyes, he needed to feel. He needed her to help him feel something again, needed to feel that she was ok and in front of him. After not reaching her on the phone he had expected the worst.
Teagan groaned out as he bit her bottom lip before attacking her lips again. As he slipped his tongue into her mouth, he laid his hands on her hips, then spun them around and backed her up until her back slammed into the nearest wall, causing her to cry out cause of the bruise on her side, the bruise he knew nothing about.
He ignored her cries, assuming it was cries of passion and began to kiss across her jaw and down the side of her neck. He grabbed on to the wet material of her shirt and pulled it off of her shoulder, then moved his lips over to her bare shoulder, licking away the rain on her skin.
She quickly forgot about the pain in her side and dug her fingers into his shoulders when he bit into her collarbone. He grabbed on to her sides, planning to pick her up, but when his fingers dug into her bruise, she hissed out in pain and laid her hands on his chest, pushing him away from her.
"Teagan?" Isaac questioned with a concerned look on his face, as he watched her walk away from him. He saw her lay her hands on her side, then lift the wet shirt up from her skin as she glanced down checking on the bruise.
Isaac's eye widened when he saw the huge black and blue bruise on her side. The first thing he thought of was the alpha pack, worried they had attacked her just like he feared, causing him to see red.
"Who did this?" Isaac snapped, as he walked over to her. He turned her to the side to get a closer look at it. He lightly ran his fingers over her skin, before adding, "What happened?"
"It's ok. I'm ok." Teagan softly said, hoping the tone of her voice would be enough to calm him down. She pushed his hands aside, then lowered her shirt and turned to face him. "I'm ok." She repeated.
"That's not an answer." Isaac snapped, then asked again, "What the hell happened?"
"I tripped." Teagan answered.
Isaac shot her a disbelieving look, then said, "Seriously? You really expect me to believe that?" He paused for a moment, then continued,"Did you forget my home life? I've used every excuse in the book. Now what really happened?"
"It's the truth. I was running and I tripped." She tried to explain.
"Teagan!" Isaac yelled, his patience running thin. After watching Boyd die, he wasn't in the mood tonight to be lied to.
"I swear!" Teagan said back, then called out, "I'm training!"
"Training? Training for what?" Isaac asked confused. He paused for a moment, then his eyes widen as he realized what she meant. "You're training. Avery is training you?" He guessed.
Teagan shook her head, then said, "Allison. She's training me and Avery."
"And she did this?" Isaac snapped, as he pointed to her side. He remembered when Allison attacked him. He couldn't believe she would team up with Allison after that and let her hurt her.
"No. I was telling the truth before, I did trip while we were running." Teagan explained.
"I can't-" Isaac began to say, as he turned away from her. He took a deep breath as he took a few steps from her, before turning back around and yelling, "You can't do this. You're not supposed to be involved in any of this. Do you remember that? Do you remember the deal we made?" He didn't wait for her to speak as he continued, "I watched Jackson almost kill you, you were lucky to walk away from that. Look at everything that has happened to Avery, I don't want that to happen to you. The only reason we are back together is because you promised to stay out of it!"
"And I was! But, Isaac-"
"No buts." Isaac interrupted. "I gotta- I gotta get out of here." He mumbled, as he turned away from her and made his way toward the window.
"Isaac!" Teagan yelled out, as she followed along behind him, but he ignored her, as he climbed out the window and jumped down to the ground.
Teagan leaned out the window, watching him run across the backyard and out of sight. She turned around with a whimper, then fell down to her knees as the nights events hit her.
She discovered the truth about her mother, Boyd was murdered and now Isaac ran from her. Would he come back to her? He was right before, they were only back together because she agreed to stay out of it, but now that she was getting involved again where did that leave them?
She pulled her knees up to her chest, resting her chin on her knees as tears rained down her face. She was so out of it, she never knew Aspen had walked back into her bedroom until she felt him bump his nose against her hand.
Teagan lifted her head, looking at the dog through her tears, then wrapped her arms around him, burying her face in his coat, which is where she stayed for the rest of the night.
~()~
Early the next morning, Isaac made his way toward Avery's house in a blind rage. He knew it wasn't really Avery's fault, but he needed someone to yell at or at least someone to talk him down before he made the situation worse.
He had already yelled at Teagan and left her in tears the night before, and that was after watching his pack mate being murdered in front of his eyes. Could things actually get worse? In a way, yes.
Once her house came into view, he began to walk toward the porch, his eyes on the front door. He already had his hands balled into fists, ready to beat on the door, not caring what time it was, until he heard a noise that made him pause.
He glanced off at the side, where the detached garage was, he heard music playing followed by the sounds of grunting and punching noises. He lowered his eyebrows in confusion and walked over toward it. He saw the side door open and peeked inside, seeing Avery pummel a punching bag over and over again.
He walked further into the room, as he called out, "What the hell are you doing?"
Avery spun around in surprise, her fist up, ready to fight whoever entered the room. She lowered her hands and switched off the music when she saw it was Isaac standing there.
"Baking cookies." Avery said back sarcastically, then added, "What do you think I'm doing?"
She didn't mean to snap at him, but after witnessing Boyd's death, she wasn't in the mood for his attitude. She knew he was hurting, losing a pack member, but she was hurting too. Boyd, along with Erica and Cora, were a huge part of her life over the summer, and now two of those three were gone.
She knew she now needed to step up her training to prepare for the next fight that was coming, which is what she was trying to do until a pissy werewolf interrupted her.
She looked at Isaac for a moment with raised eyebrows, waiting to see if he was going to say anything back, but when he didn't, she turned around and removed the gloves and wrap from her hands.
"Is Teagan doing this too?" Isaac asked, laying his hand on the punching bag hanging from the ceiling.
"So that's why you're here." Avery stated, as she turned back around to face him. She grabbed a bottle of water and took a swallow, before adding, "she told you about training."
"She had to. I saw the bruise." Isaac said, as he narrowed his eyes.
"Why are you looking at me like I kicked her ass or something? She tripped while running, Isaac." Avery explained, then added, "I hate that she got hurt just as bad as you do. but she's ok. She is strong, she will survive. That is all that matters."
"It's not ok. She shouldn't be involved with this. We had a deal." Isaac said stubbornly.
"She's not made of glass, Isaac." Avery pointed out.
"I know she's not!" Isaac snapped, then added, "I've never thought that about her, I know how strong she is, but I also know how many close calls she has had." He folded his arms across his chest and nodded his head toward her, as he continued, "and how many you have had."
"I am definitely not made of glass." Avery mumbled, as she sat the bottle of water back down.
"But you can break." Isaac pointed out. He paused for a moment, then added, "Avery, we just got you back. You shouldn't be involved in any of this either. Both of you need to stay away from this pack."
"I became involved when they kidnapped me and held me prisoner all summer." Avery snapped, then added, "I became involved when they killed Erica and Boyd, and tried to kill Derek and the rest of you. I know I'm not as strong as you or the other werewolves, but I'm not just going to sit around and take it anymore. I need to be ready and I'm sorry to tell you this, but Teagan needs to be ready too."
Isaac sighed as he leaned back against a table she had set up off the side, he ran his hands over his face in frustration. He knew she was right, deep down he knew Teagan needed to be trained. He knew things were just going to keep getting worse, but he was scared. He was scared the more she got involved the bigger of a target would be on her back.
"All it takes is one bad guy to see how much you love her, which is a very easy thing to see, and they will go after her." Avery said, as if she read his mind. "If that ever happened, and I pray to God it never does, I would rather her be able to protect herself and fight for her life, then have to bury my best friend." She pointed out.
"I know, I know." Isaac said with a sigh, as he rested his hands on top of his head. He dropped his arms in defeat, as he softly said, "I just don't want to lose her, Avery."
"I know." Avery said back. She gave him a small smile, as she added, "But for what's it worth, your girlfriend is a total badass. She's not going anywhere."
Isaac smiled at her words, he already knew his girlfriend was a badass. She was a lot tougher than anyone probably knew, but that still didn't make it easy. He was still scared for her, but too selfish to let her go and walk away.
He looked over at Avery, the words she spoke also describing herself. "You're a badass too, A, and you're not going anywhere ever again."
Avery softly smiled as she looked down, wishing his words were true. She didn't want to leave her family and friends, but if it meant sparing their lives, she would do it without hesitation.
Isaac lowered his eyebrows in confusion when he heard her heart rate pick up. Something was bothering her and he opened his mouth to question her, but before he could, they heard her cell phone beep, letting her know she had a new text message.
She grabbed her cell phone from the table and quickly read the message, a frown appearing on her face.
"What's wrong?" Isaac asked.
"I'm not sure yet." Avery answered, then added, "It's from Stiles asking me to come to the loft."
"Need some company?" Isaac questioned.
"No it's ok." Avery answered, as she grabbed the bottle of water and a towel. She laid the towel around her shoulders, wiping off some of the sweat from her face, then added, "besides you need to go talk to Teagan. Make up with her."
"How did you-" He began to ask, wondering how she knew they argued.
"Teagan told you about training, then you come to me picking a fight, it's not hard to figure out what happened." Avery pointed out. She shot him a look, then added, "not to mention you have 'guilty' written all over your face."
"I was a dick to her." Isaac admitted with a sigh, the guilt setting in and eating him alive.
"Well stop being a dick and give her-" She began to say, until he shot her a look, causing her to laugh out loud. She held up her hands, then said, "trust me, I was not going to say dick. I was going to say give her an apology. She loves you, she'll forgive you."
"Thanks, Avery." Isaac said sincerely, then added, "I'm still not happy about her being involved, but you're right, about everything. I guess I just needed someone to point that out."
"It's what I do." Avery said. "Apparently." She quietly thought to herself, feeling like the packs personal mentor or something.
"I'll see you later." Isaac said, as he gave her a wave and left the garage with one mission on his mind. Talking to his girlfriend.
Avery waved back, then grabbed the rest of her stuff before making her way over to the house, planning to shower before going to the loft to see what Stiles wanted.

After a long sleepless night, Teagan dragged herself out of bed and changed into a pair of loose shorts and a t-shirt. She called out for Aspen, as she walked out the front door and began to jog down the sidewalk.
She took her usual route, the one she took every morning, as her mind began to wander. She couldn't stop thinking about her mother's final moments. Ever since Ethan told her the truth, she replayed the death in her head over and over again. Then, when her mother wasn't on her mind, Boyd was.
She couldn't help but feel guilty for checking out the day before. Realistically, she knew there was nothing she could have done to save him, but she still should have been there. She should have been there for Avery, when she was taken again by the alphas, she should have been there for Isaac, who had to watch his pack mate be murdered.
Things were quickly spiraling out of control and she was having a hard time keeping up. All she knew was things were going to get worse, way worse.
She skid to a stop, placing her hands on her head as she took in several deep breaths and glanced around, seeing that she was in the middle of the woods. Since the alpha pack showed up she had stayed away from the woods when she jogged alone, but figured she must have went into them without realizing it while deep in thought.
She heard Aspen bark, causing her to spin around, as her eyes scanned the woods, making sure no one was trying to sneak up on her, until she realized he was just barking at her, trying to get her attention.
Teagan looked over at her dog, a small smile on her face, as she nodded her head to the side, telling him to follow her. She turned around then lowered her eyes in confusion as the sun hit something on the ground, causing it to light up.
She walked over to the object and softly gasped when she saw it was a bracelet. She kneeled down and carefully picked it up, feeling her heart race, as she recognized it. It was a rose gold infinity bracelet. She would recognize the bracelet anywhere, she even had a matching one at home, but this one wasn't hers, this one belonged to her mother.
The two were given the matching bracelets a couple of Christmases ago from her father. Her mother wore hers every day, even when she jogged, but the police never found it near where her body was. Teagan thought she would never see it again, until now.
She quickly stood up as she took several deep breaths, feeling anger over take her. It wasn't enough that the alpha pack murdered her mother, now they were rubbing it in her face.
Teagan wrapped her hand around the bracelet before she began to run again. She raced through the woods, Aspen running along behind her, as she ran toward her house. She wasn't sure what she was going to do, but she knew she had to do something. After what happened to her mother and now Boyd, on top of all the other things the pack had done, they could not get away with it any longer.
She threw the front door open, then slammed it shut, as she made her way toward the stairs, the only thing she had on her mind was making it to her bedroom. She would figure out the rest later. She placed one foot on the step, when she heard someone call out her name, it was her father.
"Dad!" Teagan called out, as she spun around and placed a hand on her heart, surprised to see him sitting in the living room. "Wh-What are you- What are you doing here?" She asked, knowing he should have been at work.
"We need to talk." Paul said, as he stood up from the couch.
"Ok, later, but first I gotta- I gotta do something." Teagan said, too tired and too stressed to think up a lie. She turned to walk up the stairs again, until he spoke up, raising his voice as he yelled out, "No! Now!"
"Ok." Teagan mumbled, as she turned back around and slowly walked into the living room with a confused look on her face. Her father didn't yell at her often and she couldn't figure out why he was now. "Is um, is everything ok?"
"No, it's not." Paul said. He looked at his daughter for a moment, wondering where to start, then opened his mouth to say, "I've been wanting to talk to you. For a while now, but you're always coming and going. That needs to stop now though cause I know, Teagan. I know everything."
"Know everything- what uh, what do you mean?" Teagan asked nervously.
"I know what's running around this town. I know about your friends, I know about Isaac." Paul said, then added, "I know he's a werewolf."
"Wh-how?" Teagan breathed out, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe her dad knew everything now. She realized that changed everything. She couldn't have him involved with anything, she wasn't strong enough to protect him and she can't lose him, like she lost her mom.
"Does it really matter?" Paul questioned, then continued, "All that matters is that I do know and you're not alone now. I can help you, Sweet Tea."
"Dad, you can't-"
"I can help you get out of it." Paul said, interrupting her, his comment causing her to look over at him with a surprised look.
"Get out of it?" Teagan asked, then added, "what do you mean?"
"You don't have to be in the middle of all of this. If your friends are pressuring you to be involved- if Isaac is pressuring you, I can help you." Paul said, thinking she was in over her head and had no way out. He didn't realize she was involved by her own choice. "You don't have to be scared of him. As soon as I tell the police what he is, they'll take care of him." He added.
"What? No!" Teagan yelled out. She ran her hands through her hair, pulling on her hair out of frustration, as she added, "dad, you cannot do this! Isaac, my friends, they are not the problem with this town. They are the ones saving this town."
"Your mother was right." Paul mumbled, as he rubbed his forehead, squeezing his eyes shut. He felt like he was losing his daughter to the monsters, he feared they were pulling her in like they did his wife many years ago when she was once involved in all this mess cause of her friend, but after she lost her best friend, she was scared. Scared she would be next, which was why she jumped at the chance to move when a job opportunity opened up for him. She wanted to be as far from Beacon Hills as she could, but the monsters still found her. In the end, he still lost her, but he wasn't going to lose Teagan. He wasn't going to lose his baby girl.
"What?" Teagan asked confused.
"After-After Aleine died in that fire, your mother feared this town. She knew how evil it was and feared it would destroy us all. She begged me for years to move. To pack up everything and leave, but I thought she was crazy, just being paranoid after losing her best friend." Paul explained. "To me this town was perfect, it's our home. It's where we grew up, where we fell in love, made a family. I couldn't understand why she didn't feel the same way, then one night she told me." He said, then added, "werewolves."
Teagan watched as he turned his head, looking at the nothing in particular, as he continued, "She told me everything, but I-I didn't believe her. Maybe if I had..." His voice trailed off, thinking of the 'what ifs'. What if he would have believed her and left town sooner, what if he would have protected her more?
He cleared his throat, choking back the tears, as he continued, "I thought she was just trying to scare me. Make up some weird story, like an urban legend, so I'd agree to leave. I never imagined it could be true. I never imagined I would lose her to those monsters." He paused for a moment, turning his head to look at Teagan, as he added angrily, "I never imagined my baby girl would get tangled up with those same monsters."
Teagan scoffed, feeling the need to protect her friends and boyfriend, she spoke up and said, "Not every werewolf is a monster, Dad."
As he shook his head to disagree with her, she continued, "You said you know everything now, but do you really? Cause if you really knew what all I have been through in the last year, how many close calls I've had and how it was my friends who stepped in to save me, then you would know how wrong you are."
She took a step toward him, as she continued, "And if you really knew Isaac, you would know how much he loves me. You would know how many times he has been there for me. How many times he has saved me. He would do anything for me. He would give his life to protect me."
"If that's really true, then he'll let you go." Paul pointed out.
Teagan felt tears fill her eyes, as she nodded her head, then said, "You're right. He would do that. If it kept me safe, he would walk away from me in a heartbeat." She paused for a moment, raising her head high, as she continued, "But I would never let him go. I will be by his side, step by step, until my last breath. I love him, Dad, I love him with all my heart and no matter what I will never stop fighting for him."
She thought about the fight she and Isaac had the night before, she didn't know where they stood right now, but she did know she was not giving up. She meant what she said, she would never stop fighting to be with him. He was her life, he was future and all she needed.
"It's not real, Teagan. It's not real and you'll see that in time. You need to stay away from him, and the rest of your friends, or-"
"Or what?" Teagan interrupted, as she narrowed her eyes at her father. Before he could say another word, she held up her hand, then said, "On second thought, don't answer that. Cause no matter what you say, I don't care, I would never abandon Isaac or my friends."
"This is not up for discuss!" Paul yelled out, then added, "if I have to move you from this town again, I will! I am your father, you will do as I say!"
Teagan looked at her father with a stunned expression. He had never spoken to her this way before. He was always protective sure, but was more laid-back and understanding. He always trusted her to make the right decision, and in her opinion she was, she was standing by her friends, they needed her just as much as she needed them, they were a pack.
Without a word, she shook her head, then turned around and headed for the front door. He father followed after her, as he called out, "Where are you going? Don't you dare walk out that door!"
"Watch me!" Teagan snapped, as she grabbed her keys, which were on the table by the door. She called out for Aspen, who came trotting over toward her. He stood still for a moment, looking at Teagan as she walked out the door, then looked over at Paul for moment, before following along behind Teagan.
Paul watched the two get into the car before Teagan backed out of the drive-way, then turned onto the street. He watched her car disappear, causing him to sigh, as he slammed the front door shut, another regret running through his mind. He should have never brought her back to this town, he should have believed his wife. Believing her now did him no good, not after he brought Teagan back to the very town Lisa wanted to flee from. He admitted to himself that he probably could have handled that better, but what's done is done, now he needed to find a way to get his daughter back before it was too late.
