I don't own MR

Max

I sprinted through the halls with Iggy and Tanner right behind me, looking for ER 3. Adrenaline pumped through my veins as my feet bounded quietly against the white tile floors and I glanced from left to right, my vision greeted by gray walls that seemed to close in on me. "Max, are you sure we're going the right way?" Tanner asked, huffing and puffing as he struggled to stay up with Iggy and me. I couldn't blame him for being tired already as much as I wanted to, we had been running for a long time and whereas Iggy and I were pure adrenaline on legs, he was nothing more than a guy trying to keep up.

Tanner had no drive, no passion, no vengeance pumping through him with every heartbeat, but Iggy and I? Well let's just say it wouldn't be a smart idea to get in our way. "Of course she's sure. Nudge gave us the exact coordinates along with a detailed description on how to get to those coordinates," Iggy explained sharply, answering for me. He seemed to blame Tanner for holding us back a lot more than I did.

"Are we sure we can trust this Nudge character?" Tanner asked, and I almost stopped, letting out a chuckle and waiting for Iggy to respond to that and defend his foster sister, although he didn't. He couldn't without shoving his fist down Tanner' throat.

"Positive. One thing about Nudge is she talks a lot, which means she's great at giving us the details we need to make our way through confusing places." I told him, making a sharp left down a hallway that looked exactly like the one we were just in. Same gray walls, same white tiles, same fluorescent lights hanging from the ceiling.

Just as I suspected, the scenery began to change. Instead of just plain gray walls, metal doors began to pop out every few feet. Each with an ER on it followed by a number. We were currently at ER 24 and we needed to be at ER 3. There we would find Fang, and then head next door to ER 2 for Lupo, then during our escape we would get Ari and head out. It was the perfect plan, thoroughly thought out. Although with me, nothing ever goes perfect, so I had my guard up.

ER 20... ER 19... ER 18...

The closer we got, the faster my heart raced. I couldn't wait to see Fang again after being apart from him for so long. I already could see myself running into the room, and snapping anybody's neck who got in my way. Then I would unchain Fang and give him a nice, long kiss and we could live happily ever after for the next few days before somebody else started chasing us.

ER 5... ER 4...

And then we were in front of the metal door that led into Fang's Experimentation Room. For a moment I just stared at the heavy door, attempting to mentally prepare myself for a long, hard battle, before nodding once at Tanner.

"Bust it open," He looked at me for a moment, before taking a few steps away. I watched in fascination as he ran up to the door and side-kicked it so hard it flew off its hinges. Funny. I'd only ever known one person to that, and that was...

"Fang!" I cried out, all thoughts disintegrating as I looked into the room only to find my boyfriend sitting on a metal table, unchained and casually talking to a woman in a white lab coat. Fang's head snapped towards me and a certain caution that was laced into his eyes vanished instantly. He lit up like a Christmas tree as he took me in, and I did the same.

His black hair was longer and scraggly, in major need of a scrub with his kid's shampoo, and his skin was covered in scars and bruises. But he was alive, and he was all in one piece, and for that I was eternally grateful. "Max!" He exclaimed, hopping off the table and running towards me. I met him halfway and we collided against each other, hugging so tight I thought both of us would die from lack of breath.

I crashed my lips against his in that very moment, feeling his chapped lips against mine. For a second I felt whole again, but only for a second. Because as we kissed I heard that woman clear her throat, and I was forced to turn to her, still holding Fang close, but no longer lost in our special reunion.

She looked familiar. Too familiar. The lady had long black hair tied up in a tight ponytail and dark brown eyes that held all her emotions. I turned to Fang to ask who this person was, when I realized a possibility like a slap in the face. Those dark brown eyes, that midnight black hair. A small gasp left my lips and my jaw hung limply as I turned to this woman who could possibly be Fang's mother, and all I felt was hatred.

"What did you do to him?" I snarled, stepping out of Fang's arms and forcing myself to regain some composure, I needed to be focused when I punched her lights out for experimenting on her own son.

"Nothing too painful," The woman said, her face a stone slab, pristine and chipped to perfection. I was about to change that.

"Listen lady, I'll give you a five second head start to beg for mercy. Nobody- especially not you- hurts my man and gets away with it," I growled, storming up to her. Fang didn't say anything, which gave me all the permission I needed when I threw the first punch. Fang's mother spun around, landing on her knees and spitting up blood. She tried to rise but I was two kicks to the stomach too fast for her. She collapsed and I dropped down ,ready to full-on end this woman who thought she could hurt Fang without consequence.

"Max stop!" Fang finally spoke up, letting me know he didn't want me to kill her. Or hurt her anymore. But I couldn't help it now. I was an angry pregnant lady who was only seeing a red fog where my vision normally kicked in. I didn't even register I was throwing punches and screaming profanities until Fang pulled me off and threw me- yes threw me- against the wall. I landed against it with a thud, and looked over at Fang, my vision clearing. He looked angrier than I felt.

"Whoa Fang! What the hell? You could hurt Max!" Iggy yelled, walking up and shoving Fang hard.

"Stay out of this, Iggy, or you'll be next," Fang growled, shoving Iggy so hard he fell to the floor. Something flashed through Fang's eyes in that moment and he stumbled a little before looking over at me.

"What, what's going on?" He asked dumbly, and I blinked.

"You just threw me against a wall and you're asking me what's going on?" I shrieked, storming up to him about ready to throw a nice jab to break his nose, when I saw something. He was confused. He had no clue what he had just done. None whatsoever.

"What are you talking about?" Fang asked, and I stared at him for a moment in fear. He had no clue that he had just thrown me halfway across the room or tossed Iggy to the ground. Maybe it was better if he didn't...

"Nothing. Come on, we have to get out of here." I mumbled and tugged on his hand. Fang glanced at his mother once, and I saw surge of anger flicker in his eyes, but he must have stomped it down because he looked back at me and nodded.

"Do you know where Ari and Lupo are?" Fang asked and I nodded.

"Lupo's across the hall and Ari is-"

"Right here." I spun around to find Ari walking through the door, looking absolutely horrible and had blood spewing out the side of his head.

"Ari!" I grinned brightly and ran up to him, hugging me tightly.

"Hey little sis, how's it going?" Ari still found it in him to smile a little and I was happy for that, because it meant that he had been through a lot, and was still managing to see the positive.

"Great." I lied easily. "Now let's go get Lupo and get out of here,"

"I second that!" Iggy stated, already out the door. We all followed him, and I held Fang's tight as I led him out, making sure he was happy and not about to go all Hulk again.

And then something hit me hard. A dream I had had a long time ago when Fang first joined us. I didn't give him something he wanted, and he hurt me. Bad. Was this dream a vision? I really hoped not, and squeezed his hand a little harder. Fang kissed my temple. "Hey, we're almost out," He whispered and I nodded, little did I know we were far from ever escaping the madness of the School.

Okay guys hope you liked. Alright so I forgot to say this last chapter but the first person to tell me what kind of animal Fang is (minus you, M and Random) will get a sneak peak at part 3 of Fugitives. If you need a hint it's in the last chapter. And please give me lots of reviews because they fuel me to write faster!

Soar on
