I only own my OC's
Isabella's POV, NCC
As we were escorted out of the Control Center, I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched. Sure the Normbots were watching us, but this felt… different. I looked around and for what little sunshine shone through the clouds, I could see a glint of light being reflected from one of the buildings at the edge of the debris field.
As I stared at the glint, I saw a flash of red and knew what was coming. I immediately ducked and lay down on the ground.
One of the Normbots demanded, "Get up or be-," before it could finish a laser bolt struck its head. Before its body hit the ground a second bolt hit the Normbot behind it. The Normbots began to react to the shots, but were slowly picked off, one by one. One Normbot nearly fell on top of me, as I looked up, at its back; I saw the key to our shackles. I quickly grabbed it and shouted, "RUN!"
"Where?" Buford questioned.
"Anywhere but here." I replied as I began to run.
We all hurried to the intact buildings and tried to hide. I could still hear Normbots crashing to the ground as we ran, some of them tried to shoot us, but missed. We entered an alleyway, and then took a moment to catch our breaths. I unlocked my shackles and passed the key around.
When everyone was unlocked, Ginger muttered, "That was close."
"Too close, good thing Candace sent backup." Adyson commented.
"Candace couldn't have sent them." Ferb stated.
"What makes you say that?" Buford asked.
"How would she have known that we were in trouble?" Ferb explained.
"Well whoever they were, we owe them our lives or we would be in a prison or worse." I commented.
"We still have a problem though; the bots took our equipment we can't detonate the charges." Buford complained.
BOOM
The ground shook as we heard an explosion.
"How?" Buford asked.
"I put one of my charges on a timer, just in case we got caught." Ferb answered.
"You're prepared for every situation, aren't you?" I commented.
He shrugged his shoulders in response before we all started to smile and high fived each other on a job well done. With the Normbots disabled, we were closer to ending this war and we could focus our attention to capturing Doofenshmirtz.
Normal POV
As everyone began to make their way back to base, they came upon two disabled Normbots in the street. Though as they passed them, the Normbots suddenly turned back on, rose up and were about to fire when they were both shot from behind, and crashed to the ground.
As the team looked behind the bots they saw two people lowering their sniper rifles. Both were wearing ghillie suits and had their faces covered.
"Who are you?" Isabella asked.
"Friends, we'll talk later right now we need to get someplace safe." The girl said.
"How do we know we can trust you?" Adyson asked.
"Besides the fact that we saved your butts at the Normbot Control Station, and just now; I think you can." The boy said.
"Hold on, you saved us at the Control Center?" Adyson asked.
"Yes, look we'll play twenty questions later when we get someplace safe. Follow us." The boy replied as he and the girl began to run.
Isabella looked at the team and shared an unsure look with them before running after their saviors; but they kept their guard up just in case something went wrong. As the team followed the boy and girl through the alleys of the city, avoiding the Normbots that were out looking for them, they came to a run-down warehouse and quickly entered.
As they entered, the boy quickly looked outside to make sure they weren't followed; before closing the door and locking it. The girl walked to the middle of the building. There were four cots, with footlockers at the head of each one, against the wall opposite the door. In the middle of the building, there was a table with seven chairs, along with papers scattered on top and a laptop.
"Welcome to our base." The girl said as she sat down on one of the cots. She removed her helmet and face mask, she revealed blond hair with brown eyes. She took off her ghillie suit, and was wearing a gray t-shirt and black pants with diamond patches covering her kneecaps with an equipment belt around her waist.
The boy, who was sitting on the cot beside her, had already removed his helmet and face mask. He had shaggy brown hair with blue eyes. Isabella and the team smiled as they recognized him.
"Django? I thought your voice sounded familiar under that mask." Adyson said as she smiled at him.
Django smiled in return and said, "It's good to see you all again. Sorry for being in rush to get you guys here, we just wanted to get out of the open before the bots came in force."
"Good thing you came when you did." Isabella said, she then turned towards the girl and asked, "Who are you, I don't recognize you."
"My name is Michelle Engel; I was just recently recruited by Django and Jenny." Michelle replied as she extended her hand towards Isabella, though she seemed nervous as Isabella looked at her.
Isabella smiled as she shook Michelle's hand and said, "I'm Isabella, this is Ferb, Adyson, Buford and Ginger."
"So you're the famous Isabella that Jenny speaks highly of." Michelle said
"Speaking of Jenny, where is she and also… where's Irving?" Isabella questioned.
"She went to meet Irving just before Michelle and I left; he's currently leaking intel to us from a facility outside the city. Apparently what he came across couldn't wait for the regular meeting and needed to meet with Jenny ASAP. She won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. If it wasn't for Irving being on the inside, we wouldn't have known about the plan to capture you." Django replied.
"You guys have been busy since you left the resistance." Isabella stated.
"Why didn't you warn us that there was going to be an ambush?" Buford asked angrily.
"We only found out found out a few hours ago, by the time we could have gotten in contact with Candace you would have already been executed." Django replied
"How did the bots even know we were in the building? We got in without alerting any of them and the alarm wasn't raised." Ginger questioned as she and the team sat down in the chairs around the table.
Django sat in front of the computer and Michelle sat down on the table next to it. Django turned on a hologram imager built into the computer and motioned for the team to gather around, as they did, he pulled up two pictures.
"The picture on the right is Doofenshmirtz's new hound; Colonel Raymond Shepard. Raymond oversees the new army, mostly made up of people, whether they volunteered or were drafted is still unknown." Django explained.
The team recognized Raymond, Buford said, "He was at the Charging station just before we destroyed it and wasn't he was also the one who ordered the Normbots to fire at the executions."
"Correct and according to Irving he has a reputation of being ruthless and calculating; his own men fear him. One soldier told Irving of how the Colonel personally executed two Privates a couple of months ago for uniform violations, made the entire base watch. Hell, Raymond even looked them in the eye when he shot them." Django explained as he looked towards the team.
"Perfect commander for Doofenshmirtz, ruthless and keeps people in line by making them fear him." Adyson said as she looked at the photo of him.
"Exactly, also from what I heard from Irving, he's seen his share of war, and he's learned his lessons." Django replied.
"How long has Irving been on the inside?" Ferb asked.
"About a month, but since he's only a Private, his access is restricted. He managed to hack into their database without being caught; he searches for anything that could give us an edge in this war." Django explained.
"Who's the other photo of?" Ginger asked, as she pointed to it.
"Lieutenant Ryan O'Neil, Raymond's second in command. Weird thing, Irving found out was that Ryan was promoted to Sergeant shortly after he arrived at the base, then two weeks later promoted, again, to Lieutenant. It gets more interesting; Ryan and Raymond argue with each other about what to do on certain issues, and Ryan has even spoken out against Doofenshmirtz. Though Irving found out that the Colonel had Ryan's left arm burned and scared to put him in his place, the Colonel even personally did it."
"Jesus." Ferb muttered.
"You said it." Adyson replied.
"If he's a Lieutenant, then he deserves to know what it means to be in pain." Isabella said as she crossed her arms.
"Ryan's not bad; he hates the Colonel and Doofenshmirtz. He wants to defect but can't; so he does anything to defy the Colonel." Michelle said sadly as she stared at the picture.
"How do you know that?" Isabella asked.
Michelle took a deep breath before closing her eyes and hesitantly answering, "I'm… a defector from the army; I was under Ryan's command before he became a Lieutenant. I actually owe him my life."
"What do you mean?" Buford asked.
"Ryan was supposed to kill me, since I had spoken out against Doofenshmirtz, but he arranged for me to escape at night and get to the nerby woods. Though before I made it to the forest Ryan and a squad caught me, at first I thought he betrayed me. He told me to get on my knees; then shot me in the back. I woke up a few minutes later and realized that he faked my death so that I could live." Michelle explained as she looked to the team.
"So then, how did you get here?" Ginger asked.
"That's when Jenny and I found her wandering through the alleyways in the city, after a shouting contest and pointing weapons at each other, we convinced her to join us." Django finished. He then turned towards the team and asked, "How's everyone else at base, it's been a while since we talked."
The team looked away, or down as Adyson said, "Django… we lost Katie and Phineas a week ago."
"What?" Django questioned in disbelief.
Adyson nodded in response. Django put a hand on his forehead and sighed sadly before saying, "Damn, I'm sorry."
"Who are Phineas and Katie?" Michelle asked.
"Very close friends." Django answered as he stood up.
"Django, do you mind if the team and I stay here for the night, to rest. The bots are going to be searching for us and I don't want to stir up a hornets nest if a patrol sees us." Isabella asked.
"Yeah we've got plenty of space and a few extra pillows and blankets." Django answered.
As the team started to fall asleep, they couldn't help but worry about the next retaliation by Doofenshmirtz; or how the war was no closer to being over.
