Phineas's POV

I was frantically pacing around the prison cell, Isabella's screams echoed through the hallways; stopping only a few minutes ago. I groaned out of frustration, I couldn't think of a way out of here, I needed to help her.

"Phineas, you need to calm down." Katie said as she sat on the bed.

"Calm down!? How can I calm down!? Isabella's being tortured and there's nothing I can do about it, and you're telling me to calm down!? You should be just as frustrated as I am, don't you even care about her!?" I exclaimed.

Before I could even react, Katie quickly stood up and grabbed me by my shirt; slamming me against the wall, "Don't you ever dare say that again Flynn, or so help me I will..." She stopped mid-sentence and took a calming breath.

She let me go and said, "Look getting frustrated isn't going to help. We both need to keep a level head if we're going to get through this, and get out of here."

I nodded in return as the cell door opened; Ryan entered and said, "Phineas, I'm afraid you must come with me."

"Where to?"

"Isabella's cell. Raymond would like talk to you, too."

"What did he do to Isabella, where is she?" I asked angrily.

"You heard her screams didn't you? Do I really have to say it out loud?" He asked.

"What did he do to her?" I demanded as I balled my hands and took a step forward.

Ryan drew his pistol and held it at his hip, aiming at us, "This isn't twenty questions Phineas. Now step out of the cell, with your hands on your head."

I gave Katie an uneasy look, and then did as I was ordered. I passed him, and walked out of the cell. I heard him close the door and lock it, "Walk down the hall." He instructed.

"I don't get you Ryan. You claim you want to help us, yet you just stand by and do nothing; while he tortures people. While we're on the subject, what did he do to her?" I demanded.

"He punched, kicked, slapped, and slashed; anything to make her talk. She's a strong girl, though I wonder how much longer she can hold out?"

"You don't know Isabella; she's one of the toughest people I know, she can take anything Raymond throws at her." I stated.

"That may be, Phineas; but every person has a breaking point, sometimes it's not pain that weakens them, it's their feelings."

I stopped and turned around, "What are you talking about?"

"Raymond plans to use you, to get to Isabella."

"I will never betray Isabella or the resistance." I replied.

"He's not going to try to get you to betray her or the resistance; he's going to use your friendship with her against her."

"Huh?"

"How well you know each other is the question now. Raymond has told me, how you care deeply for Isabella. Though, does she know you well enough to care about you? Or are you just some recruit she hardly knows and is willing to sacrifice for the cause? This is what Raymond's going to try and exploit."

I looked away thinking, 'Does she care about me? Does she even like me?'

"Keep walking, Phineas, we're late."

I did as I was told. Soon we came to a cell door with two guards stationed in front. One of the guards opened the door and let us in. There, I saw Raymond standing next to an empty chair, facing Isabella; who was strapped to a chair in the middle of the room.

Normal POV

Raymond spoke, as he looked towards Phineas and Ryan, "Ah, Phineas how pleasant of you to join us." He waved his hand towards the chair he was standing beside and continued, "Come, take a seat."

Ryan holstered his pistol and grabbed Phineas from behind and began to strap him into the chair. Isabella spoke up, as she struggled against her bindings, "You bastards, leave him alone."

"You want me to leave him alone? Then give me what I want." Raymond replied.

"Go to hell." Isabella shouted, right before Raymond slapped her.

"Leave her alone!" Phineas exclaimed as he tried to get up, but Ryan hit him in the gut, knocking him back into the chair.

Raymond laughed as he stepped in front of Phineas and said, "I love that fire, that hatred, Phineas, but what I have noticed is that it comes out when something happens," he pointed towards Isabella, "to her." Isabella and Phineas looked at each other, Phineas thought about how he met Isabella and the days afterwards, if she really cared about him. Isabella thought about those days too, how she always got this butterfly feeling whenever she was around him, though she always shook it off.

Ryan finished restraining him, and stood off to the side of the room.

Raymond stood up and stepped in front of Isabella, "Now that everything is ready, we can begin. So, Isabella I'll ask you again, where are all of your resistance friends hiding? Hmm?" Isabella remained silent as she stared him down.

Raymond frowned, "I guess we'll introduce Phineas to your punishments then." He began throwing a punch but instead of hitting Isabella he turned around and hit Phineas in the face; the force nearly knocking the chair sideways.

Isabella gritted her teeth as Phineas slowly recovered from the attack.

"I find that people who are willing to sacrifice themselves to protect the ones they care about, is not only a strength; but also a weakness. So let's see how willing you are to protect the ones you care about. Will you stay so tight tongued when you are given a chance to end your friend's suffering? Or are you willing to let him die for the sake of others? Let's find out." Raymond finished as he administered punches and kicks Phineas.

The room began to echo with Phineas's grunts, and cries of pain, as he was kicked and punched in the head and gut. Isabella gritted her teeth, "LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

Raymond stopped and looked towards the angered leader, "You want me to stop beating him? Tell me what I want to know and I will." Raymond demanded.

Isabella looked at Phineas, his nose and mouth bleeding, the blood dripping onto his clothes. He weakly lifted his head and looked at her; his left eye was swollen from Raymond's blows. "You think you're so tough?" She asked as she stared at Raymond, "Beating teenagers who can't defend themselves? Why don't you release me, so I can kick your ass, or are you so much of a coward that you're afraid of a little girl?" Isabella threatened as she struggled against her restraints.

Raymond stepped towards her and slapped her across the cheek, he was about to deliver another, when Phineas spoke weakly, "What's the matter Raymond? Letting a couple of kids get on your nerves?" Raymond looked towards Phineas in anger and stepped towards him, and with all of his might, punched Phineas out cold.

Ryan decided to intervene and walked towards Raymond. As Raymond was about to throw another punch at Phineas, Ryan grabbed his wrist and said, "Sir, you're getting carried away again, if you keep it up you'll kill him."

"That's the idea, Lieutenant." Raymond said as he shook Ryan off, and tried to hit Phineas again.

Ryan grabbed his wrist again, "With all due respect Sir, he's worth more to us alive than dead."

Raymond shook off Ryan's hand, took a calming breath and said, "You're right Lieutenant, we shall continue this interrogation tomorrow." He then walked out of the room closing the door behind himself.
