"What are you doing here, cadet?" Raymond asked, as he looked towards Avery.
"She was acting under my orders, Colonel; she has nothing to do with this." Ryan quickly said, hoping to fool Raymond.
"Cadet, you are restricted to quarters, I will talk to you later." Raymond ordered.
"Yes, Sir." Avery said fearfully, as she stood up and walked out of the cell.
"I'm ashamed of you Lieutenant; I would have thought you learned your lesson the first time. Yet, here I find you helping these rebels." The Colonel stated as he shook his head.
"I would rather die for them than continue to serve under you, Colonel. They help the people of this city, while you hurt them for that coward in the tower." Ryan stated, with hatred, as he stood up.
Isabella seemed surprised by Ryan's confession as she weakly got to her feet.
"You better change your tone boy, or I'll change it for you." Raymond threatened.
"Are you actually going to do it, or are going to send your lackeys? You never fight anyone in a one on one." Ryan challenged.
The two men stepped forward; Raymond put his arms in front of them and said, "No, he's mine."
"Come on then, old man." Ryan taunted as he took up a fighting stance.
"You forget who taught you to fight, boy." Raymond replied as he cracked his knuckles.
"Except he taught me better, he was always better than you. He could at least face an opponent without stabbing him in the back; like a coward."
Raymond gritted his teeth in anger, before he charged forward in an attempt to hit Ryan with his right hand. Ryan blocked it with his left arm, before hitting Raymond in the gut with his right and then kicking him back. Raymond grabbed his gut in pain as he took several steps back; he then smiled and said, "You've learned well boy, let's see what you've got."
Raymond charged him again. Each attacking and defending from the other. Isabella and the guards watched, with anticipation, who would win; but Raymond, being more experienced was gaining the upper hand.
Ryan threw a punch with his left, but missed. Raymond punched him in the face, knocking him against the wall, beside Isabella. Ryan rubbed his head as he pushed himself back up, quickly recovering and charging the Colonel.
As Ryan attacked Raymond, Raymond taunted him as he blocked his attacks, "What's the matter boy, can't beat an old man; or you just too weak to hurt me?" Ryan's anger began to boil as he threw another punch, Raymond dodged it and continued, "Maybe we should have the family here, I'm sure your mother would be so proud." Raymond taunted.
"SHUT UP!" Ryan yelled as he continued his attack.
"What about your sister? How did she take the news, has she forgiven you yet?" Raymond continued.
Ryan's anger began to take control, and Raymond saw an opening. He grabbed Ryan's left hand with his right, then hit Ryan in the gut several times. Ryan grunted with each punch delivered. Raymond then hit him in the gut one last time before he interlocked his hands together and hit Ryan down to the ground.
Ryan groaned as he tried to get up, when he got up on his hands and knees, Raymond kicked him in the stomach knocking him flat on his back.
Raymond then stepped on Ryan's neck and said, "The price for treason is death, but I have something special for you." Raymond then looked towards the guards and said, "Take this traitor to Room 3." The guards rushed in and dragged Ryan out of the cell.
Raymond then looked towards Isabella and said, "It seems his stupidity has saved you, for another day. Now I must figure out a suitable… punishment for him." He then exited the room, locking the door behind him.
Normal POV, Interrogation Room 3, Several Hours Later.
Ryan sat, strapped in a chair; his uniform tattered, breathing heavily. Just as Isabella was shown to the room he was in, Raymond tortured him; not for information but for punishment. The Colonel had grown tired and left the room some time ago. Ryan was deep in thought about his family, particularly Shannon after he had drugged Phineas and Katie,
Flashback, Ryan's POV
As Katie passed out from the drugs, I sighed as I stood up.
"Ryan, what have you done?" Shannon yelled as she rushed towards Phineas and Katie.
"Shannon, I told you to stay in your room and not to come out until I got you." I replied angrily.
She knelt beside Katie and tried to shake her awake before she went to Phineas and tried again. She then looked towards me and asked again, "What did you do to them?"
"I slipped them some heavy drugs. Don't worry, they're only sleeping." I answered as I picked up a phone.
"What are you doing?" Shannon asked as she stood up, a look of fear on her face.
"My job." I replied as I put the phone to my ear.
"Is it done?" Raymond asked on the other end.
"Yes, they're both knocked out; you can come and pick them up."
"Good work Lieutenant; you've done the right thing." Raymond replied as he hung up the phone.
I then hung up the phone and walked towards Shannon.
"You're turning them in?" Shannon asked.
"Shannon you don't understand, I have to turn them in."
"No! I can't believe you did this Ryan, I can't believe you lied to them, to me. Why?" She interrupted me.
"Shannon you have to understand…" I said as I put my hands on her shoulders.
"Understand what!?" She replied as she swiped my hands away and continued, "You're turning in the people who give this city hope, what's there to understand!?"
"Shannon, I…"
"I don't care! I can't believe you right now." She said as she began to cry, "Don't talk to me, don't come near me, I never want to see you again. I wished that he had killed you." She then ran towards her room and slammed the door behind her.
I looked down in shame and muttered to myself, "If only you understood."
End Flashback.
Normal POV
After explaining what happened to his mother, Ryan promised her that he would get them out. Though now he found himself here, ready for the next session with the Colonel, as well as being executed.
Raymond opened the door and entered, closing the door behind himself.
Raymond sighed as he approached Ryan; he then knelt in front of him and lifted Ryan's head with his finger and said, "I'm ashamed of you Lieutenant, after everything I did for you; this is how you repay me."
"Don't call me that anymore Raymond, I never did like it, and as for my "debt" to you, I was just playing you the entire time."
"It's Colonel Raymond to you boy, show some respect or I'll…" Raymond replied.
"You'll what?" Ryan interrupted, "Torture me some more? How's that working so far?"
"No, I think it's time for a family reunion." Raymond replied as he stood up.
As Ryan's eyes went wide in realization, the door opened again; a guard struggling with a girl came in.
"Get your hands off of me!" Shannon screamed as she was dragged in.
"You son of a bitch! Leave her out of this; she has nothing to do with this." Ryan exclaimed as he struggled against his bindings.
"Quite the contrary boy, you knew what would happen if you betrayed me. Now I am forced to honor my end of the deal." Raymond replied as he grabbed Shannon and put a pistol to her head. Shannon struggled against him, but to no avail; she stared at her brother, tears in her eyes.
"Don't do it please, please I beg of you, she's just a child." Ryan said as he began to panic.
"You should have thought about that before you decided to betray me." Raymond replied as he powered up the pistol.
"WAIT!" Ryan exclaimed, "Wait, please… can, can I please just have a moment with her, please?"
Raymond looked down at the girl in his arms and replied, "I supposed I can grant some time to talk; and a final goodbye." He let her go and walked out of the room with the guard, closing the door behind them.
Shannon rushed over to Ryan and untied his hands. Ryan grunted in pain as she removed the bindings which had dug into his wrists. As he brought his hands in front of himself, he looked down unable to look at his sister.
"Shannon, I…" before he could start Shannon wrapped him in a tight hug. Tears streaming from her eyes; not wanting to let go of him. Ryan's eyes began to water as he embraced her, "I thought you hated me?"
"Mom explained to me why you did what you did. I'm so sorry for saying all of those mean things." She replied as she cried.
"You don't need to apologize, I deserved it." He replied.
"No you didn't, you were just trying to protect us." she replied as she broke the hug.
"Now, all I did was get you two killed, I should be the only one dying."
She hugged him again and said, "No Ryan, family sticks together no matter what."
Ryan couldn't help but give a slight smile as he replied, "Yes, yes they do." He broke the hug, asking her, "Where's Mom? Was she brought here with you?"
"Yes, but, I don't know where she is. She was dragged off somewhere else, as I was being dragged here." She replied.
The door opened again, a guard with a pistol entered, "Lieutenant Ryan O'Neil you have been found guilty of crimes against Emperor Doofenshmirtz. You and your conspirator are sentenced to death."
Ryan weakly stood up and stepped in front of his sister, to shield her, then asked, "Where's the Colonel? I thought he'd do it himself."
"Something else required his attention." The guard replied as he powered up the pistol and took aim at them, his finger beginning to squeeze the trigger.
