Normal POV

"Well this is a peculiar situation we find ourselves in." Ferb said as he peeked over his cover.

"Well if we hadn't followed our supposed new friend here, we wouldn't be in this mess." Buford stated angrily as he looked towards Ryan.

"Hey, I didn't know that a VTOL was going to spontaneously take off as soon as we got here, or that forty men were armed and waiting on the other side of the door." Ryan defended.

"Guys, now is not the time. Right now we need to figure out how to get out of this." Isabella shouted.

"Resistance fighters, you're out manned and out gunned, with no hope of escape. Surrender now, or prepare to die." Raymond commanded.

"What are we going to do?" Adyson asked.

"We have two options, either we surrender and get executed or… we go down fighting." Buford stated.

The team looked at each other, without speaking, each one of them deep in concentration. Ryan looked towards his sister, who was huddled up against the crate. Raymond's voice broke their train of thought.

"O'Neil, you really should convince your friends to surrender or I kill her." Raymond said as he stepped aside. Margaret was then brought forward out of the crowd of soldiers and forced to kneel beside him.

Ryan peeked over the crate, taking a sharp breath and quietly said, "Mom."

Shannon heard this and quickly looked over the crates and shouted, "Mom!"

Margaret looked up, seeing both of her children, she stared at Ryan intently.

"Let her go Raymond!" Ryan shouted.

"I don't think so Ryan, I like your mother where she is, though you can keep her safe if you and the rebels surrender." Raymond replied as he smiled.

Ryan gritted his teeth in anger; Shannon tugged on his shirt, her eyes pleading for him to save their mother. Ryan looked towards her, then back at his mother.

"We can't surrender," Buford began, 'The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.'

Ryan looked towards Buford, worriedly, comprehending what Buford just said.

"You know it's the right choice." Buford replied.

"You want our mother to die? Well to hell with you!" Shannon shouted as she got up.

"Shannon!" Ryan exclaimed as he grabbed his sister and pulled her down.

"Ryan your mother would like to say something to you and your allies."

"Ryan and Shannon O'Neil, look at me." Their mother yelled out, sternly.

Ryan and his sister cautiously peeked over the crates, their mother stood in front of Raymond, looking at them intently for several seconds before she continued, "This is a very tough situation, and there are going to be a lot of tough choices. I love you both, I hope you know that. Everyone else, listen as well"

Ryan's eyes widened slightly, as he heard his mother's words, Shannon still stared intently at her. Everyone else began to look over their cover, as they listened.

Margaret then looked at Raymond, who stared back, before she turned towards her children again, "What I'm about to ask you to do will be very difficult. Ryan I want you to take care of your sister, keep fighting against this pathetic worm, and defeat this tyranny, free this city!" Raymond frowned before rubbing his face in annoyance. He walked beside Margaret, unholstered his pistol and took aim at Margaret's head.

BANG

"NOOOOO!" Shannon screamed in horror, Ryan gritted his teeth in anger; he quickly stood up, took aim at Raymond and fired. A soldier next to Raymond leapt in front of him and took the laser bolt, killing him. Raymond smiled to one side and ordered, "Kill them all."

The soldiers fired at the team and began advancing on them, the team returned fire and the firefight began. The hovering VTOL spun up its Gatling Laser readying it to fire, but instead of firing on the team, it spun around and unleashed a stream of laser bolts at Raymond's troops. Twelve of them were cut down instantly; the others quickly took cover behind crates and parked aircraft.

The base alarms blared as the P.A. system announced, "Attention all troops, attention all troops, members of the Resistance have infiltrated the hanger. Kill them for the Emperor!"

"We need to get out of here before those troops arrive." Ryan exclaimed.

"Got any ideas on how to do that?" Django asked.

"We start by killing these bastards." Ryan answered.

The side door of the VTOL opened; Eugene peeked out with several objects in his hand.

"LIEUTENANT, CATCH" Eugene exclaimed as he tossed the objects one by one.

Ryan, Adyson, and Buford caught the objects, which were octagon in shape, black in color, with a red cap on top.

"What are these?" Buford asked.

"ST grenades." Ryan answered as he turned his body, popped the cap off and pressed the button underneath. The grenade began to beep as he used his left hand as a balance, then threw the grenade towards a group of soldiers hiding behind a crate. Before the soldiers could move, the grenade exploded with a blue blast, killing them all.

"Holy crap." Buford exclaimed.

"Give it a try for yourself. Pop the cap, press the button and throw." Ryan exclaimed.

Adyson and Buford did as instructed. Buford threw his at a group of soldiers hiding near a gas tank while Adyson threw hers at several soldiers taking cover near a parked VTOL. Both grenades exploded simultaneously, not only killing the soldiers, but also causing the gas tank and VTOL to explode.

"Whoa!" Django exclaimed.

The soldiers stood their ground; soon the team was pinned under heavy fire. Then Richard, and five defecting soldiers, hit the loyal soldiers from the side, taking them by surprise. The loyal soldiers found themselves caught in the crossfire from the defecting soldiers and the Resistance team. They began to shout, "fall back," and retreated. As the last of the soldiers ran out of the hanger, Richard ordered his men to take up defensive positions and prepare for another attack.

He looked back towards the team and said, "Lieutenant get on board the VTOL, we'll provide security and cover, then fall back."

Betty maneuvered the VTOL and landed in the middle of the hanger, Eugene stepped off and said, "Okay, everyone on board we need to get out of here, now." As the team boarded the aircraft. Shannon looked over to her mother's body and quickly rushed over to her.

She knelt beside her mother and tried to shake her awake, Ryan stopped beside her, he put his hand on her shoulder, "Shannon,"

"Get you hand off of me! Because of you, she died. If you would've just surrendered she would still be alive." She exclaimed.

Ryan knelt in front of her and tried to explain, "Shannon it's not that simple."

"I wish you never existed and then you wouldn't have dragged us into this. You're no better than Raymond. I HATE YOU!" She screamed.

Ryan was surprised at her outburst, and looked away. Shannon then headed towards the VTOL and boarded it. Ryan looked towards his mother and said quietly to himself, "I'm sorry mom, I couldn't protect you."

Eugene rushed up to Ryan and said, "Lieutenant, we need to go."

Ryan clinched his rifle, and stood up, staring at Eugene with sadness. A laser bolt went past them as more loyal troops came into the hanger. They quickly took cover behind a loader as Richard's men held their ground and returned fire, Richard rushed back to them and said, "You two get to the VTOL, and get out of here. We'll buy you time!"

"We're not leaving you and your men to die, Richard." Ryan exclaimed as he fired at the loyal soldiers. One of Richard's men was hit and fell onto his back, Richard looked at him then back to Ryan and Eugene, "Leave, both of you. Let us make up for our mistakes, let us do our jobs."

Ryan and Eugene stared at him before nodding to each other, "You're first Eugene." Ryan yelled.

"Give me the detonator." Richard asked.

"Yes, Sir." Eugene said as he reached into his pocket and handed Richard the device. He ran to the VTOL in a zigzag pattern to avoid getting shot, another of Richard's men was hit as he was about to fire his rifle. Richard turned to Ryan and said, "Go, Sir."

"I won't leave you and your men to die." Ryan exclaimed.

"You've given us a chance to fight for good, and make up for our sins, now please Sir, GO!"

Ryan nodded then put his hand on Richard's shoulder and said, "You're a good man Richard, you've more than made up for your mistakes." As Ryan ran to the VTOL, Richard said to himself, "Thank you, Sir."

Richard then turned towards the fight; they continued to stand their ground, as the loyal soldiers now poured into the hanger.

Ryan got on the VTOL, shutting the door behind him, shouting, "Betty get us out of here." Betty powered up the engines and began to take off.

"What about your men? You can't leave them behind." Isabella exclaimed angrily.

Ryan turned towards her and said, "Private Richard and his men are doing a soldier's duty, sacrificing themselves for the lives of others."

Isabella gave a look of surprise, before looking down and nodding.

The VTOL lined up with the outside door, Betty pushed the throttle to full speed.

Richard stood to fire, when a laser bolt hit his side; he fell down on his back, before quickly leaning up against the loader, he looked to see his comrades lying around him, the last two soldiers fell, with slight smiles on their faces. Richard also smiled slightly as he extended the detonator's antenna in his hand and pushed the button.

As the VTOL flew out of the hanger, several explosions started destroying the parked aircraft that set off a chain reaction of secondary explosions. The soldiers in the hanger quickly ran trying to escape. The other charges detonated in the armory and vehicle depot, fire and smoke rose from the facility.

The explosions could be heard inside the VTOL, though there was a dead silence. Ryan stared at a bulkhead. Katie looked towards Shannon, who was near the back, silently crying to herself. She got up, and went over to Shannon sitting down next to her and putting an arm around her. Shannon then leaned on Katie and continued to cry. The team stared at them with sadness, while Eugene went up to Ryan and put a hand on his shoulder, Avery was tending to Phineas. Arron just sat in silence

"Where to, Ryan?" Betty asked from the cockpit.

"Isabella?" Ryan asked out loud without looking at her.

Isabella walked towards the cockpit and sat in the copilot's seat and gave Betty the coordinates. Eugene stared at Ryan, who was fighting the tears forming in his eyes.

Facility, Normal POV

Raymond stood by the burning building, as the fire crew tried to extinguish the blaze. A soldier approached Raymond and said, "Sir, Emperor Doofenshmirtz is demanding that you meet with him."

Raymond growled in anger and replied, "Tell him I shall arrive within the hour."

The soldier saluted and walked away.

As Raymond stared at the blaze, and began, "Enjoy your victory while it lasts rebels, you'll soon be knocking on the devil's door." He finished as he walked away from the burning building.
