On with the story!
Chapter 5: Seaside Summer School
"Uwah~! The sea is so pretty! The Earth sure has many beautiful places doesn't it Haruna?"
"Earth...?"
"Geez..."
Goku could only sigh to himself as he overhead the two girls talk, noting how Lala continuously referred to the planet itself.
The first years were now on their way towards the location of the Seaside Summer School by bus, and many were quite excited for it to begin, most especially Lala herself seeing as how she was the one who made the day possible thanks to her little stunt a day ago.
'Stopping a typhoon by yelling... Why didn't I ever think of that?'
There were times when Goku wanted to do something but couldn't due to bad weather.
Sometimes he'd tried blasting the sky with his energy to clear it, but that might cause people to wonder just who'd have enough power to perform such an act in the first place, and the probable suspects would've been either him or his grandmother. That was reason enough for him to not go through with whatever he had in mind.
Shouting at a storm was something he did not think of, probably because he was still a kid when he wanted a storm to go away.
'But then again, Lala's more of a child than I ever was...'
As thought about said girl, he looked back towards her and Haruna, the two girls smiling as they conversed with each other.
'I suppose stuff like this isn't so bad. At least she and Haruna are friends already.' He thought as he relaxed into his seat and began dozing off, being that there was still an hour and half before reaching their destination.
"Welcome everyone from Sainan High! We are delighted to have you all here."
The Landlady and several other employees bowed to their new guests.
"Takami-chan! It's been such a long time!"
The principal ran towards the landlady with open arms.
*BAM*
A hard fist met the Principal's face which sent him rolling to the ground with a nosebleed.
'Nice fist.' Goku thought.
Was the older woman a former martial artist or something? The distance she sent the tubby man flying was impressive due to the Principal's weight.
"You're still so cold Takami-chan..." The principal muttered as the Landlady known as Takami began showing the students around the inn.
Within the main reception room, all the first years were gathered as the Principal began speaking.
"Right, as of this minute the Seaside Summer School begins!" He said quite cheerfully. "You guys make sure to make a lot of fun memories while you're all here, and get in touch with nature too! Playing video-games and texting all the time is no good for you, you know!"
"We also have a special guest arriving tomorrow! He's a great martial arts master who's lived a long time. Can any of you guest who it is? All of you be sure to be on your best behavior when he gets here alright?"
Some of the students began murmuring at that, most especially the physically inclined students who had an interest in learning martial arts.
Off to the side, Goku's ears perked up at the principal's words.
'A martial arts master...? I wonder who?'
"Anyway, that's it!" The principal began to leave before stopping. "Oh! Before I almost forget, we have a Dare tonight. Please look forward to it!"
The principal then leapt towards the landlady with open arms once more, and this time his lips puckered up.
"Isn't that right Takami-chan~?"
*BAM*
The principal was once again sent flying with an uppercut to the jaw.
"You get the feeling the old pervert came here because of the Landlady?" Goku deadpanned.
"You're probably right..." Saruyama nodded.
"Are you guys kidding me with this!?"
"Shh! Do you want them to hear you!?"
Inside the male baths, Goku watched as Saruyama and another one of his classmates climb the rock wall that separated the male bath from the female baths.
They had tried goading him into joining them, but Goku refused on the grounds that it would've been inappropriate and that his honor as a fighter forbids him from it as much as the teenage boy in him wanted, especially since Haruna was also on the other side as he could sense her.
"Argh! Forget it, you two are on your own! Don't blame me if you get killed." Goku exclaimed to the two.
He had enough trouble with Lala living him, he didn't need the extra baggage of being tagged as a pervert along with those two.
On the female side of the baths, Lala, Haruna, and the latter's two friends, Risa and Mio, began chatting with one another.
"Lala-chi, you don't what a Dare is?" Mio asked.
"Nope, it's the first time I've heard of it."
"That's right, you were born in a foreign country after all." Mio nodded in response. "Alright, allow me to explain. Dare is simply put, a game where a boy and a girl walk through a path at night to reach a goal."
"Eh? But walking at night is easy?" The pinkette responded.
"True, but in a Dare, there's going to be ghosts who'll try to block your path and-"
"PUT CURSES ON YOU~" Risa finished in a waling manner. "That'll be done by people dressed up as ghosts!"
"I see." Lala nodded.
"Still though, to be playing Dare when we're already in High School... It's kinda lame don't you think?" Risa spoke out her opinion.
"I agree," Mio replied before smiling. "But, you can't make fun it either!"
"What do you mean?"
"They say whichever pair makes it through the entire Dare together will surely become a couple!"
"Eh~? That's so just a rumor!" Risa laughed.
"I'm looking forward to it!" The duo looked towards Lala who had her behind to them as she looked around the baths. "Dare sounds a lot of fun~!"
As went back to what she was doing, Risa and Mio went closer to one another and began muttering.
"Say... Lala-chi's tail... don't you think it's growing directly from her butt?"
"No way... probably some sort of sophisticated accessory from overseas."
Off to the side, Haruna sat quietly as she listened to her friends conversation. Not once speaking up to voice her own opinion on the matter as the young girl had a troubled expression on her face.
'Dare huh...?'
A part of her was looking forward to it, as there was a chance that both she and Goku might end up as a pair. And if what Mio said about the Dare was true, then there was even a chance of their pairing becoming even more than just that.
However, another part of her was hesitant, due to no small part of her...
"Hey Haruna~" Risa snuck behind her friend and began touching her in places that would not be mentioned. "Why are you spacing out for~?"
"KYAAAAAAAH!"
"! That was Haruna's voice!"
Goku stood up in the water in alarm, he looked up at the rock wall and saw that Saruyama and his companion were still at it. In fact, the two were already at the top.
"You little bastards...!"
That was so not okay! Not when both Lala and Haruna were in there!
Although he had reservations using his powers against normal humans, he'd make an exception this time around.
The young man clenched his fists and took a stance. A light push would do the trick.
*WHOOSH*
"What the... !? Gah!"
Goku threw his fist upwards, a shock wave burst forth and blasted the two into the air.
*BAM* *SPLASH*
They bounced off the roof and later crashed back into the water, both out cold.
"That's what the two of you get for being perverts!"
"Huh, I'm number 13."
That night, the lottery for the pairings of the Dare had commenced.
"Should I be worried that I got an unlucky number?" He wondered aloud.
He had been hoping to get number 5 since Haruna had drew number 5 as well. However, life wasn't always fair he told himself.
"Goku! You got a number 13? Yay! Me too~!"
"Of course you did."
Lala latched onto the young man's arm as many boys looked at him in envy. He sighed to himself as her action would've brought unwanted attention to him, but at the same time he was somewhat grateful being paired with someone he knew. He was also grateful that it was Lala since this way he would be able to keep an eye on her in case the girl got any strange ideas during the Dare.
He looked to the side and saw Saruyama and Haruna being paired together. As the former looked towards him, Goku gave him an inquisitive look that said:
'Anything happens to her and I'll hit you.'
'Yes sir, I understand.' Saruyama mentally saluted.
'Good boy.'
"Wah, it's sure is dark tonight!"
"They said that the goal for tonight was the shrine at the top of this hill, which is 500 meters ahead of this path." Goku said.
He then noticed several figures coming towards them, all of which were his fellow classmates and the ones who went before him and Lala.
"Wow, is it that scary?" He noted to himself.
Having faced and defeated a Demon Lord at the age of 9 and trained by one of the best fighters in the world, nothing really scared him at that point.
"Lala, don't wander off to far or...!? Lala!"
The pinkette disappeared from his sights the moment he took it off her.
"RUN AWAY!"
Goku looked to the front and saw Saruyama running past him with a terrified expression on his face. He noted that Haruna wasn't with him, meaning that most likely the coward had left her behind.
"Geez... no helping it!"
With Lala already gone, he had to find her quick along with Haruna. If she had been scared and ran, she would've already come back through the path by now but he didn't see any trace of her. That meant that the girl was still in the forest by herself.
Using his abilities, he began searching area...
"Wahahaha! What a funny face~!"
Lala cheerfully walked through the path as many of the ghosts, employees of the inn, tried scaring her.
One in particular appeared right in front of her to try and surprise her, but to no avail.
"Heh? You... don't think I'm scary?" The man asked behind his monster mask. He had a put a lot of effort into making it look as realistically scary as possible!
"Nope, not at all. I think it's funny!"
"F-Funny...!?"
An aura of depression formed around the man's body as he fell to the ground with both arms outstretched to the dirt.
Lala on the other hand continued on her way while speaking to Peke.
"Playing the ghost part seems like a lot of fun~! I want to try it."
"Well it does seem more natural for you to scare people, Lala-sama." Peke commented, remembering the times Lala had dismantled an entire warship as a prank when she was a child, much to the shock and disbelief of Zastin and several dozen of Deviluke's best engineers and mechanics.
Haruna sat on the ground underneath a tree, alone inside the darkness.
Was it mentioned before that she was afraid of ghosts... more specifically, all things supernatural?
That was the reason why she did not move from her spot less she spot another ghost and for it to terrify her. She knew that it was all just part of a game, but she could not help it! She was scared of ghosts!
However, she also remained as calm as possible, having remembered a time from four years ago
"Well well, what do we have here?"
Haruna Sairenji, 12 years old, walked home back from school by herself that afternoon.
She was a good girl who always did as she was told and was polite to others. Therefore, she didn't really encounter any problems at school and was thus unfamiliar with the situation presented to her.
A group of older looking boys approached her, smirks on their faces as they began picking on her. She didn't know what she had done to deserve such a thing, she was minding her own business when they had appeared.
They pushed her to the ground, the young girl scratching her knee in the process.
"Hey! What do you think you're doing!?"
A young boy around her age appeared wearing a blue martial arts gi and a red bandanna around his head. He had a very distinctive black spiky hairstyle, one that would not leave the young Haruna's mind anytime soon.
"Boss! It's that kid from before!"
"I can see that stupid!" Their leader retorted as he looked towards the young boy. "Beat it kid, unless you want to get your ass kicked."
"Last time I checked, you were the one who got beat by me."
"That was because you cheated! There's just no way someone as small as you could beat me!"
"Then why don't we find out for sure this time? I'll take on all four of you at the same time!"
Shortly after that declaration, the older boys tried ganging up on the younger boy but the latter proved to be far more skilled in combat and quickly made short work of all four. Haruna blinked in amazement at the action, seeing someone as young as her defeating the older boys so easily was quite a feat.
Their group quickly ran away in fright after the young boy suggested they go for a round two since he was barely phased by their earlier fight. They ran away quite pathetically too.
"Sorry about that, they probably started picking on you because their leader got beaten by me in a sparring match." The young boy said as he noticed her scratched knee.
"Here, let me help with that."
The young boy used his bandanna to cover up the wound, and later helped Haruna stand.
"Are alright?"
"Hmm." Young Haruna nodded. "It doesn't hurt all that much."
"That's good to hear. My grandma would've skinned me alive if she heard a girl got hurt because of me!" He joked, causing Haruna herself to giggle slightly.
"I've got to go now! I still have to pick up my little sister from school today, see ya!"
The young boy began running in the opposite direction, and Haruna reached out to him.
"Ah, wait! You still haven't told me your name!"
"It's Goku!" He looked back at her and grinned in such a way that it would engrave itself in her mind. "Son Goku Jr.! If you're ever in trouble you can rely on me, I'll help you out!"
With that, the young boy disappeared into the streets, leaving Haruna once more by herself.
"Son Goku..."
Haruna kept that memory close to her since then, she even kept the same bandanna that Goku had used to cover the scratch on her leg back then inside of her room. She had been meaning to give back to him for some time now, but always failed to bring up the matter whenever they met.
That said, that memory was the reason why she wasn't panicking. For she knew that as long as he was around, she had nothing to fear.
After all, Goku did say to rely on him if she was ever in trouble, did he not?
"Hey there, I thought I'd find you here."
As if on cue, the young man appeared in front of her with a hand extended towards her in gentle manner. Haruna took it and stood, a smile on her face.
"Are you alright?"
"Of course I am, you're here after all."
Goku blushed at that, not expecting such words to come from Haruna. He shook his head and changed the topic.
"Geez, that Saruyama. That guy's a jerk for you leaving you alone." He said. "When I find him I'm hitting him."
"How about Lala-san? She ran out on you as well?"
"Nope, she went on ahead. That girl's probably finding this entire thing to be fun rather than scary."
Haruna giggled slightly at that.
"You sure know Lala-san well, don't you?"
"Hmm? I do?"
He never gave a thought regarding the matter as he and Haruna were interrupted.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Both stood stiff as they saw numerous people dressed up as ghosts for the Dare run past them.
"Ah! There you two are~!"
Lala Satalin Deviluke came into view wearing Peke as a white burial kimono that was commonly associated with ghosts.
Behind her were several ghosts, and not those that were people who were dressed up as ghosts, but actual ethereal beings floating midair!
"Lala, what are you doing?" Goku asked with a dry stare directed towards the pinkette. "And what are those things behind you?"
"Ah, you noticed! These are ghosts I projected using this." She moved aside to reveal a device floating behind her.
"What do you think, pretty neat huh?"
"Maybe, but first-? Hmm? What's wrong Haruna-chan?"
Unlike boy beside her who was unaffected by the holograms, the young girl was frozen stiff... She didn't even hear the conversation that ensued between the two.
Yes, Goku was here beside her, but right in front of her were transparent ghosts floating midair.
And so, Haruna reacted by grabbing into Goku...
"Huh...? Waargh!"
...And she threw him right at them.
*SMASH*
Goku collided with Lala's machine, breaking it as he landed on the ground.
"Ah! My Deru-Deru Vision-Kun!" Lala cried out.
"Ugh... Damn, almost forgot about Haruna's fear of ghosts."
He held his head as a headache came on. The girl didn't look like she could do it but she threw him hard!
When he looked towards Haruna, she had already fainted from the terror. Looks like he'd have to carry her from that point on.
A crackling sound of electricity snapped him out of his thoughts as he looked behind him to see Lala's device emitting smoke.
"...? Ah, crap!"
*BOOM*
Goku quickly made a grab towards both Lala and Haruna and jumped far from the device as it exploded. The trio landed not too far from ground zero.
"Goku, you're amazing! How'd you know it was going to explode?"
"Lucky guess..." Goku muttered, having remembered at that moment that some, if not all, of Lala's inventions tended to go south.
*CLAP* *CLAP*
The two still currently awake looked in front of them and saw that when Goku had jumped earlier, he had landed right in front of the shrine that was used as the goal of the Dare. The Principal stood there looking on joyously together with the Landlady and several of her associates.
"Congratulations! You're the only group this year to make it through the entire Dare!"
"Huh?"
Goku muttered somewhat stunned with both Lala and Haruna, the latter still unconscious, in his arms.
The next day...
"Hohoho! Looks like the Seaside Summer School is already underway!"
A figure watched the beach from afar as he saw the students playing around with a pair of binoculars. He was especially distracted by the dozen beautiful teenage girls that were running about in their swimsuits.
"Hehehe~! How I wish I was young again." He whistled.
"What do you think Master? Do you think you'll be able to find some new students here?"
Right beside him was a brown sea turtle that spoke, quite an unusual sight but not enough that people would question why the turtle could speak in the first place. After all, with the world of today, a talking sea turtle was the least thing a person could be interested in.
"I don't see why not. After all, Martial Arts has been popular with the young people these days, all thanks to Gohan and the rest. I've already gathered twenty people this week alone, a few more and wouldn't hurt" The elder man said. "Besides, finding more students means more money for me! And our bills won't pay themselves you know!"
"I guess you're right." The turtle replied as he headed back into the water. "Well I guess I'll be seeing you then!"
"Thanks for the ride Turtle. I'll see you again soon!"
"Is this a Summer School or a Vacation?"
Goku mused to himself as he watched his fellow school mates play around in the water and on the beach.
"Goku! Come over here and play!"
Lala called out to him and he looked to see both her and Haruna in the water with their swimsuits on.
'I know I said what I said to Saruyama that day, but...'
He couldn't take his eyes off Haruna, a warm feeling rising to his cheeks as he did so.
'Nope, I can't help it! I can't look at her, she looks too cute in that swimsuit of hers!'
A young martial artist of great power and alien heritage he might be, but he was still a hormonal teenage boy. Being near the girl he likes while she was wearing that was just too stimulating for his mind to handle!
He also though the same regarding Lala, but ever since she started living with him and his family, he'd had gotten use to the girl's presence already. Enough so that he wasn't as affected by her despite how good the swimsuit that Peke projected for her.
'Still... she it does suit her-Wait! What am I thinking!? I've become Saruyama!'
Goku furiously began tearing at his hair as he shook his head free of any inappropriate thoughts.
"Kyaah! Get away from me you old creep!"
A girlish scream caught his attention when he looked towards the snack bar.
"Oh come now, I was only joking-Wait! What are you doing with that tab-No, don't...!"
*BAM*
Goku winced as he saw an old man get smashed in the face with a table. The girl that he was talking to leaving in a huff as the old man got back up.
He paused for a moment when noticed that the old man was bald, had a white beard, and was wearing a pair of red framed sunglasses. He also had a turtle shell strapped upon his back and used a wooden staff to help himself walk about.
"Wait, is that...?"
"Ugh... Kids these days have no respect for the elderly!"
"That depends on whether or not the elderly in question is a dirty old man."
"What you'd say!? Why I ought to-!?"
The old man paused in surprise as he looked behind him to see who it was that spoke.
There stood a young man with spiky black hair wearing blue swim trunks. He had a lean but somewhat muscular figure for his young age, but it was his face that had the look of honesty on it that surprised him. It was a face that was shared long ago by one of his best students after all.
"Hahaha! Why if it isn't little old Goku Jr.!" The elderly man laughed. "How have you been my boy?"
"I've been doing well Master Roshi, it's been too long." Goku bowed in respect to the old master.
Master Roshi, one of the most respected Martial Artists in history together with his great ancestor and Mr. Satan. It was from under his tutelage that Goku Sr. was able to truly begin his career as one of the world's greatest fighters. By now, he was already over 300 years old, way older than any human currently alive.
He was also the head of the New Turtle School of Martial Arts, the revived version of his old school that was founded by one of his students and his ancestor's best friend, Krillin. It was currently the schools with the largest amount of students.
Goku Jr. had been introduced to him when he was younger by his Grandmother Pan, who asked the old master to teach Goku a few basic techniques in fighting as she felt it would've been a good experience for the young man to be trained by the same person who trained his ancestor.
"So tell me, how have your sister and grandmother been doing these days? You people hardly ever call!"
"They're both doing fine as well. Grandma is like you; old but as healthy as ever."
"I see. That's good to hear then." Roshi nodded in acceptance as he began sensing the boy's strength. "I can see that you haven't slacked upon your training either."
"I haven't, I can't let Vegeta get ahead of me after all!"
"Ah, good old Vegeta. You and that boy remind me of your ancestors you know that?"
"Haha, I do. Grandma always reminds me after all."
They were interrupted when they saw two girls approach them, both of which were quite familiar with Goku.
"Goku! Who's this?"
"Well what do we have here?" Roshi whistled in delight as he took Lala's appearance. "Impressed by this old man's physique Young Lady? Or did you come to get an autograph from the great Master Roshi~?"
That little declaration some people's attention, most of which were members of sports clubs, ones who had the above average human power level as noted by Goku.
"Nope, never heard of you."
Roshi face faulted onto the sand at Lala's reply.
"He's the same person that taught my ancestor Goku, the one I got my name from, on how to fight." Goku said to the two.
"Eh!? B-But wouldn't that make him over two hundred years old then!?" Haruna questioned.
"What!? Is that true!?" Lala turned towards the Turtle Hermit.
She knew of many different species that could live rather long lifespans, but this was the first time she ever heard of a human living for more than two centuries!
"Technically speaking, I'm already past 400 years old." Roshi replied.
"Wah~! How is that you lived for so long?" Lala asked in wonder.
"The Fountain of Youth. Don't let it's name fool you, it won't make you young again, just immortal." The elderly man explained. "And if you're thinking about finding it, then too bad! I destroyed the old thing after I didn't become young again from drinking it."
As they spoke with each other, one of the students got the bright idea of picking up a stone and throwing it directly at the old man's head.
*BAM*
"Ow! Who did that...!?"
"Aha! There's no way you could be Master Roshi!" The student cried out. "The real one would've been able to dodge that rock with ease!"
"Anyone one would be hit by a rock if they got attacked from behind the head you fool!" Roshi yelled right back at the guilty student, causing him to fall right on his rear in shock of the old man's voice. "And if you're looking for some identification, then look here!"
The old man produced a driver's license, making it a fact that he was indeed the real thing much to the shock and surprise of many.
Goku found this situation too amusing, it wasn't an exaggeration to say that thanks to his old appearance and perverted ways, people doubted that Master Roshi truly was the one spoke about in rumors and legends.
"Oh, Master Roshi! It's been a while!"
The Principal of Sainan appeared on the beach and quickly went over to the old Turtle Hermit.
"Principal, it has been indeed."
They shook hands, and the Principal turned his attention towards the gathered crowd of students.
"Alright all of you, allow me to introduce to you Master Roshi of the New Turtle School of Martial Arts."
"What up? Peace to you all!" Roshi gave the students a V-sign.
The students that were all gathered around and formed a circle around Master Roshi as he began speaking with a microphone on hand.
"Now then, before we begin, do any you have any actual interest in martial arts?"
Over 20 students raised their hands, and Goku was surprised by the number of them, thinking that they would lower since not many martial artists lived in Sainan.
"Hohoho! It's good to see that martial arts isn't dead to some of you." Roshi laughed. "At any rate I'll be performing a demonstration of what a person can do when trained as a martial artist. Goku, help me out with this one!"
"Huh? Me?"
The young fighter flinched as the attention of the students turned towards him.
"Come on Goku, you can do it~!" Lala cheered him from beside him. Haruna also gave Goku a supportive look, one that made him decide to go for it.
'I can't believe I'm doing this...'
Roshi pulled Goku with him and began whispering a few things in his ear, the young man nodded in response and Roshi praised him for being a good boy.
"First up!"
"Imagine you're driving alongside the mountain path with your family and friends. And then, suddenly a rock slide happens and you're all right beneath it! What are you going to do?"
Goku walked in on Roshi as he spoke, placing a giant boulder right next where the elder man stood much to the surprise of the ease the young fighter did so.
"The answer? Punch it!"
*BAM*
The young man punched the boulder so hard that it exploded from impact, causing the interested students clap in applause while the remaining students gaped in awe.
"Next up, imagine you're being attacked by a criminal and then he tries shooting you!"
With that, Roshi drew a handgun from his shell.
"EH!?"
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
The students watched in shock, Lala and Haruna most of all, as the Turtle Hermit shot Goku four times.
But that was not what they shocked about, rather, it was the fact the young man made a series of motions and later revealed that he had caught all four bullets in the palm of his hand!
"With the proper training, you'll not only catch bullets, but you won't even feel them! How does that suit you~?"
"Lastly, and my most favorite demonstration of all, the Kamehameha!" Roshi declared as the students began whispering.
"The Kamehameha?" Lala questioned.
"I heard about it. It's a technique that Master Roshi developed a long time ago. They say it's really powerful!" She explained, having read about martial arts after she met and gained an interest in Goku.
"Goku my boy! Show them the hot stuff!"
Goku nodded as he took a stance and directed his attention to the ocean.
"Lala-sama, Goku-dono's power level is rising just like that time, only higher!" Peke muttered.
"Eh? Higher?"
Remembering the basic steps, he first outstretched both of his arms in the same direction.
"Ka..."
He then pulled both back, cupping them as he did so.
"Me..."
A ball of light appeared within his hands much to the amazement of everyone present. Although they have seen such a thing on TV during world tournament fights, seeing it in person was another thing entirely.
"Ha..."
The light in his hands began to sizzle as it grew bigger and bigger, Goku decided to put on a show since he was on it.
"Me..."
The light had now full formed, ready to burst. Goku then pushed both hands forward.
"...HA!"
*BLAST*
A large wave of energy burst forth from Goku, the technique blowing away everything in its path. The ocean itself was parted due to the sheer force of the young fighter's Kamehameha and continued on for miles and miles, a feat that amazed everyone gathered at the beach.
As the dust settled, Roshi looked towards everyone who were still left utterly gobsmacked by Goku's performance.
"Now then, who wants to apply?"
That afternoon...
"Hohoho! I can't believe that I'm getting so many applications from this bunch!"
After the performance, many of the students began applying for the New Turtle School. When earlier it was merely 20 students, now they were around 50, almost all the students that came on the trip in general.
Goku decided to help Roshi sort out the applications, an action the elderly man was grateful for.
"Are you going to take them all on?"
"I'll probably not. Some of these people may not have what it takes or the proper attitude for the training I'd give them." Roshi said. "But I won't find out until I sort out the good ones from the bad ones."
"You know best Master Roshi, you can do it."
"That I do." Roshi replied as he looked towards Goku. "Speaking of which..."
Roshi pointed and Goku looked to see that it was Lala, who was eating some barbecue along with Haruna, Risa, and Mio.
"What's your relationship with that girl? You know, the one with the tail."
"To keep it simple? An alien princess I helped out and later got engaged to."
"What!? You two are engaged!?" Roshi fell back in surprise before quickly standing back up with a smile on his face. "Well color me astounded! Your Grandpa Goku got himself engaged to a Princess back in the day, and she became his wife! Hahaha, looks like history repeats!"
"Please don't put it like that." Goku didn't know how to feel about the fact that he and his ancestor were now in similar circumstances.
Later that night...
"What are you two doing...?"
Goku stood at the door to Lala's room, which according to her, she shared with Haruna, as well as the latter's two friends, Risa and Mio. He arrived there because he wanted to return something to Lala which he had borrowed earlier that day.
Once he was there, he saw both Saruyama and one of his roommates sneaking around, and were about to knock on the door of the girl's room.
"Isn't it obvious!? We're going to see the girls!"
"You do realize it's about half-an-hour before the lights to go out, right?"
"I could ask you the same thing! Why are you here!? Don't tell me you planned on stealing a move ahead of us so that you could play around with the girls by yourself!?"
"Don't put me in the same league as you, idiot." Goku deadpanned as he showed them a pen with a design reminiscent of Peke. "I asked Lala to lend me this earlier so that I can help Master Roshi, I'm just here to return it."
And at that instant, one of the teachers came by and saw the three in the hallway.
"Oi! Are those boys I see!? What do you think you're all doing here close to the girls rooms!? It's almost time to go to sleep!"
"Shit! Run away!" Saruyama and the other boy ran in the opposite direction of the teacher. Goku himself was about to make a dash for it, but something pulled him from behind.
"What the...!?"
By the time he got a bearing of his surroundings, Goku looked up to see Haruna kneeling beside him. They were inside the room the girl shared with Lala and the others.
"H-Haruna-chan...!?"
"Shh! The teacher will hear you!" She opened the door to look around and saw the teacher in question chasing after Saruyama and his companion at the end of the hallway.
"Thanks for the save, I owe you one." Goku said as pulled out the pen. "I'm here to return this to Lala, she lent it to me earlier while I helped Master Roshi."
"Ah, I'll be sure to give to her then." Haruna nodded as she took it.
The young man then noticed that the they were alone in the room, prompting him to question...
"Where are the others anyway? I'd thought Lala would be here for sure."
"They're in the lobby buying drinks." She explained.
"Oh, I see." Goku nodded before heading towards the window and opening it. "Well, I'll be going now. Don't want to get caught now do I?"
He waved goodbye before jumping out of the window, which was located on the second floor of the building.
Haruna sighed to herself as she was once again left by herself in the room.
'Aw... I missed my chance.' She noted to herself as she missed a chance to have a talk with Goku.
'What the heck am I doing!? I can't believe I missed my chance like that!'
Goku cursed himself as he sat on the ground below the window of Haruna's room. He thought for a moment that it was the perfect opportunity to confess, but at the same time they were inside a room, alone, and at night. Anyone might misunderstand if he performed such an action at that time.
The young man sat there for quite a while in frustration, not knowing if he should go back the way he came and confess, or call it a night and try again another day. He sighed once more and decided to go with the latter.
'Well maybe it's for the best...'
It was at that moment that he heard voices coming from the room, and Goku could hear Lala's among them.
"Say, Haruna. Do you have someone you like?"
Caught off guard by the question, the blue-haired girl stuttered in response.
"W-Why are you asking me that all of sudden Mio?"
"Heh~? Your reaction just now makes me suspicious!" Mio smiled slyly as she remembered something regarding her blue-haired friend. "Could it be... that you like Son-kun just like Lala-chi?"
"...! T-That's...!"
"Eh? Is that true Haruna?" Lala questioned curiously.
"Kyahaha! It's just a joke!" Mio laughed as Haruna calmed herself down. "I know the two of you are old friends, so that made him the first suspect!"
"But seriously though Lala-chi, why do you like Son-kun?" Risa couldn't help but ask. "I mean, sure he's good looking, a nice guy, and a great fighter, but other than that, nothing. He's not as smart as some guys in our class are, and he's sort of a martial arts freak when you think about it."
"That's true! He doesn't really talk to others much too, and he's even friends with that pervert Saruyama. Makes you wonder what kind of things go through that guy's mind." Mio added to the conversation.
Unknown to the girls Goku had listened in on the conversation thanks to his superior hearing that he had earned through training his senses, various tick marks appearing on his head as he listened to both Risa and Mio speak.
'Damn those two, saying whatever they like...' He grumbled to himself in annoyance. 'I may not get the best grades in school but I can least pass it!'
"I'm not looking down on him, I just think someone like you could probably do better than Son-kun."
"That's not true!"
All three girls were quite surprised when Lala spoke out as a smile formed on her face.
"For me, there isn't anyone who's better than Goku." She said, in a tone full of confidence in the young man."People can say what they like, but I believe as much."
The room was filled with silence as the pinkette spoke. Outside, Goku himself was stunned from Lala's words.
"In truth, I've actually caused some trouble for Goku." Lala admitted to their surprise, especially Haruna's. "But despite that, he didn't hesitate to help me out. And because of that, I believe that Goku is the most dependable person there is!"
"Wow~! How cool!" Both Risa and Mio cried out in delight at the girl's answer, finding it to be quite a mature take on things regarding her first love.
"Lala-san..." Haruna muttered quietly to herself.
'Lala...'
Goku sat on the ground unsure on how to feel regarding the young woman's belief in him. It wasn't the same as when his Grandmother Pan and Mikan would cheer him on during his training or his matches with his opponents in local tournaments or anything like that. It was feeling that was similar but completely different.
'Geez... I should just go.'
The young man started walking back towards his room, unaware of the growing blush on his face as he did so.
The next morning, the students were now ready to leave the inn after finishing breakfast bidding farewell to the staff, thanking them for their hospitality.
As the students began getting on their respective buses, Goku decided to speak with Roshi, who had stayed the night at the inn.
"So Master Roshi, where do you live these days? Do you still live on that small island?"
"Oh heaven's no, I moved my place near the mountains of Satan City a while back. That's where most of the aspiring martial artists live after all. It'd only make sense that I begin living there since I am the master of the Turtle School. I just live there during my summer vacations, that's all."
"I see. Then I'll see you later then Master Roshi, I might be able to visit your dojo one day." Goku bowed in respect as he turned to leave.
"Goku!" He stopped in his tracks as the turtle hermit called out to him.
"What is it?"
"I though you might want to know that it was only recently announced that the 67th Tenkaichi Budokai is going to be held at least six months from now." Roshi revealed much to Goku's delight.
"No way! You really mean it? I though the tournament was supposed to be held off until another two years?"
"They decided to hold it early this year. With the amount of people getting excited for it, stalling it anymore won't do any good at all!" Roshi explained. "So you better get your butt in gear and start working! I heard from Vegeta that he's competing this year."
"Really? You spoke with Vegeta?"
"Yup, and the reason he's competing? Because he knows for a fact that you'd get on in the action once you found out!" The Turtle Hermit exclaimed as he smiled when he saw Goku's aura flare up in excitement, startling those around him.
"You better believe I will! I can't wait for the tournament to begin!"
"Goku~! What are you doing? Hurry it up!"
He was silenced when he felt Lala run up to him and give him a hug from behind.
"L-Lala!? Didn't I tell you before not so close!?" He blushed at the contact, even more so when he remembered the pinkette's words from last night.
"Hehehe~! It looks like you're quite friendly with your Fiancee aren't you Goku?" Roshi chuckled as he remembered how Chi-Chi had acted after Goku Sr. decided to keep the promise or marriage he made to her long ago when they were children. "Go on then, be with your lover. Make sure to invite me to the wedding!"
"No! It's not like that!" Goku cried out as he was pulled by Lala into the bus.
As the first years left, Roshi sighed to himself.
"Hah... How much that boy has grown. It wasn't too long ago that he was a crybaby like Gohan!" He laughed slightly.
"Yes, this generation is going to become quite the interesting bunch. Wouldn't you agree, Piccolo?"
A tall figure appeared beside him, he had green skin and pointed ears. He wore a white cape and turban, and what he wore underneath was a purple martial arts gi tied with a red sash and he had a pair of pointed boots on.
"How long did you notice me?"
"That depends, how long have you been here?"
"I was in the area when Goku fired off his Kamehameha." Piccolo explained.
"So, what do you think? How much do you think young Goku has grown these past few years along with Vegeta?"
"What do I think? He and Vegeta Jr. are already a match for Frieza when we fought him back on Namek. If the two of them had been around, they might've been able to defeat Frieza without even going Super Saiyan. Not to mention that they've achieved the state at such a young age. Gohan, Goten and Trunks had the advantage of growing up surrounded by powerful fighters, which helped improved their strength, but not these two. Their skill is amazing, especially in these times of peace. However..."
"However...?"
"They both lack experience. Those two boys are so used to fighting each other and overwhelming other fighters with their superior abilities that they lack new opponents to test their skills upon. If they went up against Cell or the Androids, they'd be dead." Piccolo explained. "A simple flaw that prevents them from growing as fighters."
"And how do you think that can be fixed?"
Piccolo smirked at Roshi's question, which the latter already knew the answer to but asked anyway.
"Simple, I'll be entering the tournament. I've even considered taking on a few students from the Majin Clan for them to face. Those two boys haven't even fought against members of that particular race yet, which should provide some good experience for them."
Roshi nodded in a sagely manner.
"I see. Then in that case, the next tournament really is going to be one to remember after all."

Author's Notes:
Master Roshi makes a surprise appearance! He was always a favorite of mine, a wise yet perverted mentor. And also Piccolo makes an appearance near the end to reveal that he'll be making a guest appearance along with some members of the Majin Clan in the World Tournament! How do you like that?
The World Tournament won't be shown until I figure out a proper way to write it, any suggestions regarding the matter will be most welcome. I'll also be having Golden Darkness and Rin, Saki's kendo wielding bodyguard and friend, participate in the fighting too.
Also, in regards to power levels, both Goku Jr. and Vegeta Jr. are equal to Frieza in his final form at 100%, and may have a chance at defeating him even without going Super Saiyan. However, they'd get killed in a fight against Imperfect Cell or the Androids.
Personal Opinion regarding Frieza's Power:
Abo and Kado from the OVA special are said to be equal to Frieza by Tarble, but he was actually referring to his first form since Frieza himself stated that nobody aside from his own family had ever seen him in his true final form. That would make both Goten and Trunks as kids are far stronger than Frieza in his first form, and if they went Super Saiyan, could probably give him a good fight in his final form. However, the latter has more experience and and natural strength, meaning that Frieza (Namek Saga) would most likely be able to take them on given the right circumstances.
When Goku fought Frieza, the latter had already wasted energy fighting against Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, and Piccolo. No matter how little the power he used during those fights, Frieza had been fighting them for quite a while before Goku arrived. Then he had a Spirit Bomb dropped on him by Goku himself when he realized he couldn't defeat Frieza through conventional means, affecting Frieza's ability to perform in 100%.
If Frieza had fought Goku in complete 100% (Without any injuries or battle fatigue) I think there's a good chance that he would've won on Namek even if the latter went Super Saiyan. I mean, even Beerus, the God of Destruction, was shocked when he heard that someone defeated Frieza. Especially when you consider that Goku had also defeated Majin Buu (With Help), who makes Frieza's power at the time look like a joke.
Wow, I'm on a Frieza roll today, must have something to do with the "Revival of F" movie. I can't wait for it! :)
Also, please review! It helps stimulate my brain into writing better.
