Chapter 6: Debut of the Childhood Friend

"Sainan Private Senior High School..."

A young man stood outside the front gate of Sainan High reading aloud the sign of the school.

He was a rather handsome young man with effeminate features. He had white hair and red eyes, and he was also wearing the summer uniform of the school.

'She's here...'

He pulled out a picture from pockets that contained the image of a young boy and girl, the young boy being none other than himself and the girl had distinctive pink hair and wore a white dress that had bat like themes on it. The young girl's smiling face in the picture brought a smile to young man's own.

"Lala Satalin Deviluke... Today we shall finally meet again!"

"Ah, it feels so good to be back in school after a long time!"

Goku and Lala stood inside the room of Class 1-A stretched out her arms, the girl was in a very good mood that morning. All their classmates were also in a lively mood, most likely thanks to their respective Summer Vacations that began after the end of the Summer School.

However, in contrast to their mood, Goku himself was feeling quite tired.

"Ah~ Man... I really shouldn't have stayed up so late last night." He yawned.

"I'm sorry, I promise I won't do it again~!" Lala said to the young man, which only made him sigh.

Late last night the girl had accidentally unleashed several of her machines out into the streets of the city. Goku had to stay up that night to round them all up before each did serious damage or before people would trace those inventions back to his place and blame them for it.

"Say Goku," The pinkette began.

"What is it?"

"I heard from Mikan that you plan on entering this thing called the World Tournament. What is it exactly?"

Goku blinked in surprise, not expecting the question from Lala, but at the same time, felt that he should have known given the girl's curiosity of Earth cultures and events.

"Well, to sum it all up, the World Tournament is a fighting competition where the best of the best come and test their skills. Its official title is the Tenkaichi Budokai; which means the Strongest Under The Heavens Tournament." He explained.

"I see. Have you ever entered before?"

"Once, about six years ago I entered the Junior Division along with a few friends." He began. "You remember Vegeta right? The one with his hair standing up who nearly smashed us in the streets a month ago? I became the Champion after I defeated him in the finals. Our fight actually lasted two hours, you wouldn't believed how tired we were!" Goku began laughing at that last part as he remembered that day fondly.

Lala listened to Goku with awe and curiosity written on her face. Her feelings coming from the fact that she knew that Goku was quite strong for an earthling, easily surpassing the strength of Zastin, and perhaps anyone else she knew for that matter aside from her father. And from what Mikan would sometimes tell her, the young man would often seek out the best fighters in order to face the greatest challenges. That would mean he entered the tournament because there were people as strong as him. She wondered to herself how many people from earth were as strong as Goku.

That said, seeing Goku smile as he fondly remembered the events that happened to him that day sent a smile to her own face.

'Now that I think about it, I think this is the first time Goku has told me anything about his childhood himself.'

On the other hand, the young fighter stopped in the middle of reminiscing as he noticed the pinkette staring at him.

"For me, there isn't anyone who's better than Goku. People can say what they like, but I believe as much."

'Ack! Why did I remember that!?' Goku thought as he shook his head.

Ever since that night, the young man had trouble looking at Lala for a while. He eventually got over it but seeing Lala's smile brought back those memories.

'Geez, I think I'll just sleep it off later, and maybe do some meditations to get mind off it for a while.'

A while later bell run and homeroom began. The elderly teacher of Class 1-A entered the room and stood behind his desk as usual.

"Alright, I know this is sudden given that we're already in the second quarter, but today we'll be having an new transfer student joining us."

At his announcement, the class perked up in excitement and chatter.

As they did so, the teacher looked towards the door and motioned for the person just beyond it to come in.

"This Ren Elise Jewelria. Everyone be nice to him."

The entrance of a handsome young man with white hair caused most of the girls in class to squeal in delight.

"Wow! What a cutie~!"

"A real live bishonen! What are the chances~?"

Goku could only look on in surprise, the chances of having a transfer student during the second quarter was rare. He also noted something strange about the young man as he sensed his aura.

'What's this feeling...? His strength is no different than the average human's, but it has this weird feeling to it.'

He then noticed the white haired boy looking around the classroom before settling his eyes on something and quickly made his way towards it.

The it in question being none other than Lala herself.

"I finally found you... my beloved Lala!"

With that, the entire class gasped in surprise.

"I recognized you right away! Not even being surrounded in a crowd of plebeians is enough to mask the beauty you've had since we were but small children, you are indeed a Goddess!" Ren said in overly dramatic tone.

"What is he on? This guy read Shakespeare or something?" Goku muttered to himself as he watched in incredulity as the young man known as Ren speak towards Lala. Not even that guy Motemitsu spoke in such a fancy way towards her.

'Whatever the case, he knows Lala which means he's alien too. That would explain his weird aura...' He noted. 'Though it doesn't look like he's a Devilukean since he lacks a tail like Lala's. Another species maybe...?'

As Ren spoke, Lala gave him blank look.

"Um... Who are you!?"

*BAM*

Ren face faulted towards the floor so hard that it shook.

'That's gonna hurt.' Goku thought

"You... don't remember me? Even though you and I played together a lot when we were young...?" He sulked quietly to himself as fell to the floor, tears in his eyes. "No, I won't get discouraged by this."

He wiped away his tears and stood up, a smirk on his face.

"Because I am a man!"

'Okay, this guy is officially a weirdo.'

"Lala-chan, I heard that you've been deceived by an evil man." Ren said as the girl tilted her head in confusion.

"Evil?" Goku felt a little insulted, he knew for a fact that he had been referring to him. Whoever said that he was evil, he'd like to give them a piece of his mind.

"That's right! It's none other than you, Son Goku!"

Ren pointed his finger towards the eldest person in the room.

"Huh? My name is Honekawa." The elderly teacher said.

"My apologies." Ren then directed his attention towards another. "I mean you!"

"The name's Saruyama pal." Goku's friend replied.

"My mistake. Then it's you!"

"Are you an idiot?" Goku spoke out, finally having enough of him just randomly picking out people.

"What!? No, I won't fall for you tricks." Ren smirked as he pulled out a photo. "Allow me to tell you of my relationship with Lala, take a look!"

Goku took the photo, looked at it, and blinked twice before bursting out laughing.

"Ahahaha! What is this!? Why the heck are you in a dress!? Hahaha!"

"Don't laugh at me!"

As Goku laughed, Lala went up and decided to take a close look.

"Hey, that's me when I was little!"

"Haha, I knew it." The young fighter's laughter came to a stop, though he couldn't keep down the smile on his face. "Seriously though, what's with the dress and ribbons?"

"Wait, now I remember!" Lala cried out as she pointed a finger at Ren. "You're Crybaby Ren-chan!"

"Thank you for finally remembering me, Lala-chan." Ren said. "Yes, it was indeed as you remember it. You would often tease me and dress me up in frilly outfits because you thought I looked like a girl, you'd even use me as a test subject for your inventions. Truly, you were such a naughty little angel."

'Wait, what? Well that explains the dress...'

Goku also couldn't help but notice the way Ren said those things sounded as though he was listing off the reasons why he should have hated Lala. Then again, with the pinkette's personality, it was hard to stay mad at her for long.

As he thought this, Ren continued on with his rant.

"However, one day you promised me that, when I become manly, you would marry me!"

At that, everyone's eyes widened in surprise, especially Goku's.

"Wow! A love rival appears, isn't that right Risa?" Mio quipped.

"It sure is! The childhood friend arrives and turns the relationship between the Son-kun and Lala-chi into a love triangle! It's like something out of a soap opera!" Risa squealed in delight like a child who found out Christmas had arrived earlier.

"You two just say whatever's on your minds don't you?" Goku commented.

Back towards Lala, the girl began thinking deeply on the matter regarding what Ren had said.

"Er, did you say such a thing Lala-sama...?" Peke whispered to her master.

"Um... I don't remember."

"It's alright. I don't need you to remember right away..." Ren began. "After all, first I want you to realize how manly I have become over the years."

He looked towards Goku, a determined look on his face.

"And to do that, I will surpass you, Son Goku, as a man!"

Goku gave a sigh as he was starting to get tired from the day's events.

Ever since his introduction at the start of the week, Ren had been trying to outdo him in everything. From being the first to answer the teacher's questions, being the fastest at eating lunch, even trying to outdo by reaching the bathroom first!

He honestly couldn't care less about the first two, but the last had definitely weirded him out. Who goes and tries to make a competition out of going to the bathroom first!?

'Is every alien I meet a weirdo or is it just the ones I know?' He thought. Lala invented crazy machines, Zastin and his boys now worked as assistants under his father, and now there's Ren who tried to outdo him in everything!

"Son Goku! Today I shall surpass you in P.E.!" Ren declared beside him, surprising Goku because he had not felt Ren approach him at all. The boy would probably make a fine ninja if he tried.

Was it also mentioned that the current period was now Physical Education? The boys were getting ready for the 100 meter dash.

"Jewelria, you're up first since you're the new kid." The PE teacher called out, and Ren nodded in took a running position. "On your mark! Ready... set... GO!"

*BANG*

Ren quickly made a dash towards the finish line, surpassing the speed that normal humans could achieve. When he crossed it, the teacher spoke.

"Ren Jewelria, 12 seconds!"

"Hey, the new kid is not bad." One of the students commented.

"But, when you try comparing him to Goku on the other hand..." Another said as the young man in question took position after having his name called out by the teacher.

"Try as you like, but you cannot beat me!"

'Okay, now it's just getting annoying.' The young fighter thought before a smile appeared on his face. 'This might seem a little petty, but what the heck! I'll go for it!'

"On your mark! Ready... set... GO!"

*BANG*

*WHOOSH*

Goku quickly moved and stood at the end of the track, a smirk on his face as he noticed Ren's bewildered expression. He directed a V-Sign at him together with the traditional Son grin.

"W-Wha...!?"

"Son Goku, 1.5 seconds!" The coach declared.

"As expected of the Champ."

"He's in a league of his own. Not even the guys from the Olympics can beat him."

Ren looked towards the two students that spoke, a shocked expression on his face.

"W-W-What was that just now...? You guys just accept that!? That's not normal!"

Most of the boys gave him blank stare, and Ren felt himself shrink from their gaze.

"What are you talking about man? It is Son Goku after all, don't you know anything?"

"Hah?" Ren gaped at their questions, not believing that they just casually accepted Goku's feat.

Saruyama decided to step in at that moment and he pulled out his phone.

"Here buddy, I think this will explain everything."

He showed him a video of Goku's performance with Master Roshi that he had recorded that day, the young man's eyes widening ever so slowly as he watched Goku perform rather incredible feats of physical ability. And most of all performing the move known as the Kamehameha, an attack that would easily put to shame most of the galaxy's greatest positron cannons!

"No way... is he even human?" He inquired, which was somewhat hypocritical since he wasn't human himself. He had come to this planet expecting that Son Goku was a weak earthling as he had researched before his arrival, but clearly he did not do enough!

How could he beat him as a man like this? With Goku's abilities, there was practically no way of defeating him! Intellectually perhaps, but in physical ability he was completely outmatched.

"Lala-sama, what do you plan on doing with Ren-dono?" Peke spoke up towards her master.

Lala stood by herself on the roof, watching the surroundings as it helped her relax at times.

"Hmm? What about him?"

"It just seems that he intends to stay on Earth until you give him your attention as he stated it."

"But I already said that I'm marrying Goku..."

"But Lala-sama, I'm not so sure of your decision to marry Goku-dono just yet." Peke replied. "I mean, yes he is powerful and a good person. But other qualities are also needed in order to fulfill the role that your father assumes. Your view has been narrowed because it's your first love."

"What are you trying to say Peke?"

"I'm just saying that perhaps there other people more suited to becoming your husband than Goku-dono. Perhaps someone more like your father in terms of intellect since we'll need someone to run the government after all."

Lala contemplated Peke's words before shrugging them off.

"No, I think I know what I'm doing. Besides, all Papa ever did was conquer and unite the galaxy. After that he just began playing around the castle and left Mama with everything else."

"I-I suppose." Her argument shot down the moment Lala had pointed out her father's flaws.

"Also, when you think about it, both Papa and Goku are more alike than you realize Peke."

"Alike?"

"Hehe, you'll understand." Lala replied with a smile on her face.

A while later, Ren sat by himself on a bench before he felt someone standing near him. He looked up to see that it was none other than Goku himself with bottles of water in his hands.

"Drink?"

Goku sat down beside him, and Ren eyed him carefully.

Now that he noticed it, his classmate had a more muscular build compared to most people their age. He felt another blow to his pride as man as he noted this fact that Goku once again surpassed in another aspect.

"What's wrong?"

"It's nothing, but... are here to mock me?"

"Nope, just thought you could use a friend."

Ren looked at him surprised, not expecting the answer.

"So, you still hung up on the manly thing?"

"Of course I am, until I prove to Lala-chan that I am a man, I will never give up!"

"Yeah about that, I asked her earlier if she thought that you were manlier now and she said she didn't know." Goku added, causing Ren to face fault into the dirt.

"That... that can't be...!" Ren propped himself on the ground with his two hands, an aura of depression coming over him.

He then turned his attention towards Goku, grabbing the teen by the shoulders and shaking him while asking desperately right in his face:

"Please! I beg you, teach me what it means to be a man! I know that I said I would surpass you, but I cannot do it without someone to guide me!"

Goku didn't know how to reply to that. On one hand, Ren was begging him to help, to which the good guy in him wanted to do so. On the other hand, his earlier arrogance annoyed him to no end, and thus his mind told him to ignore the other's pleas.

"Listen bud, I know that you care about Lala and I respect that."

"You do?"

"Of course. I've come across a few of Lala's other suitors and let me tell you, you're the only one who hasn't tried to force her into a marriage."

Over the course of the summer, Goku had encountered at least three different aliens that tried taking Lala away from Earth, the first of which was Ghi Bree.

The second one he found inside his father's house one time. A very tiny alien, so tiny that he barely felt any power coming from him. He noted that he probably snuck inside his father's apartment while he was there. Lala sent him away using the duck toilet teleportation machine of hers much like Ghi Bree.

The third one in particular was a guy wearing a silver spandex costume with a rocket strapped onto his back. He tried flying away with her, but Lala herself dealt with him by making his jetpack explode. He later returned but Goku had kicked so hard that it sent him back into space.

"But when you think about it, do you seriously think being a man is enough to get Lala's attention?"

"That's..." Ren began before he hung his head in defeat. "...No, it probably won't. She's not really that kind of girl."

"You see? It's basically pointless." Goku pointed out before laid a hand on Ren's shoulder. "I understand how you feel, believe me. I got someone I like to, but even I don't know how tell it to her."

"Is it Lala-chan?"

"Yes-Wait, no!" He yelled before catching himself. "Well... I like Lala. She's pretty and all, and a good person too. But I have someone else I liked for a long time before her."

"Then why haven't you tried telling her that?"

"Yeah... well, it's kinda complicated. But let's just say the Earth will be blown up if I don't meet the expectations of Lala's father." Goku replied. "Besides, I don't really mind letting Lala stay at my place. For all the trouble she brings, she's a fun person to be around."

"Ah, I see." Ren nodded in understanding. "Then that means you love her as well don't you?"

"Wait, what? Haven't you been listening to what I've been saying?"

"I have. The way you've talked about Lala just now confirmed it to me. You've fallen for her!"

Goku looked at him incredulously.

"It's possible to love someone and fall in love with another at the same time." Ren explained before clenching his fists. "As I thought! You, Son Goku, are an evil man! Toying with the hearts of two maidens... how despicable!"

"How the heck did you come to that conclusion!?"

"Hear me now for I will say it only once!" He began. "Even though you are far stronger than me now, one day I will surpass you as a man and win over Lala-chan's heart! That's a promise!"

"You're an idiot." Goku simply stated.

However, a part of the young fighter's mind knew that there was some semblance of truth on what Ren had said. He hadn't realized it until now, but he was already starting to see Lala more than just a friend...

'Geez... when did this happen? I've liked and known Haruna longer than I have her... when did I feel so conflicted over things like this? I really should do some more meditations.' He thought.

"Man~The two of you are so ardent! I guess that would you'd expect from two hot-blooded males."

From behind a corner appeared both Risa and Mio, the two friends of Haruna.

"You two? Why do I get the feeling I should leave now before something weird happens?"

"How cruel Son-kun, and this is after we've come up with a solution for the two of you to settle your differences with each other once and for all."

"A solution?" Both asked.

"Yup!" Mio answered. "The quickest way for the two of you to settle this little love triangle. We've come up with it."

Goku felt some sweat run down the back of his neck, he just knew this would go somewhere crazy.

"The first one of you two to kiss Lala-chi on the lips today wins! It's that simple!"

'I knew they'd come up with something crazy!'

"No way! Lala's not some sort of prize, I'm not doing this stupid contest!"

"Fine with me!" Ren, on the other hand, was quite fine with that outcome.

"You really are an idiot aren't you!?" Goku demanded.

"I guess that settles it then! The four of us, Haruna and Lala-chi included, are going to go Karaoke later, so the two of you better get your game on tonight~!" Risa declared.

"Son Goku! I'm going to defeat you!" Ren stated as he pumped a fist.

'Why do I always get caught up in crazy situations like this!?'

A while later, the group of Goku, Lala, Haruna, Ren, Risa, and Mio, headed towards the Karaoke bar the two would occasionally go to. They were currently riding the subway transit system to get there quickly.

'Damn it, how the heck did I get roped into this?' Goku thought as he silently glared at Haruna's friends. 'How they ever became friends is beyond me. And as for that idiot...'

He saw Ren subtly making his way towards Lala as the train moved, which in some cases would cause the former to fall due to the train being in motion if not for the fact he was intentionally trying to make such a scene, likely as way to kiss Lala.

'I don't really give a damn about this stupid contest, but I'd be a dead man if I let an idiot like that take advantage of Lala!'

At that moment, the train shook greatly enough that Haruna fell into Goku's chest.

"I-I'm sorry!" The girl said.

"It's alright." He was surprised by the event, and somewhat elated as he was able to-

'Wait, wait, now is not the time for that! Right now that idiot is probably...'

The train once again shook, but not as much as earlier. Goku could already tell how much he was faking it as he fell towards Lala.

*BAM*

Ren hit his head on one the metal poles inside the train.

"Ow!"

"Are you alright Ren-chan?"

"Y-Yeah. I felt like I tripped on something..." He then gave a silent glare towards Goku and the two began mentally communicating.

Ren knew for a fact that the young fighter had something to do with his head being hit. Given the speed Goku had shown during the 100 meter dash, he wouldn't have been surprised by such a thing.

'Stay out of my way! You're going against the rules!'

'Not a chance you idiot! Besides, what rules? They said that one wins when one kisses Lala before the night ends, nobody said we couldn't interfere with each other! I'm not about to let you force yourself on Lala!'

'You little...!'

Their small group later arrived at the Karaoke bar known as "Kuro Neko".

As soon as they arrived, Lala had quickly dragged Goku into singing along with her.

'I think this was a song from that anime based on Dragon Sword...? Sung by Hironubu Kageyama.' Goku hadn't watched much TV recently so he didn't know for sure.

He glanced at Lala as she sang, the girl was something of a natural. It made him a little embarrassed to sing with someone so good, especially since he didn't really sing at all for that matter. Goku wouldn't have been surprised if she was scouted out by some talent agency.

That said, he couldn't help but be reminded that Lala was a very attractive person. He then found himself contemplating Risa and Mio solution to prevent that idiot Ren from coming after Lala.

'No! No! Not happening! I can't kiss her for a reason like that! Haruna's here too, so there's no way I can do it!' He shook his head.

Off to the side, Risa and Mio could only smile in delight at Goku's movement. The young man was obviously conflicted on what to do.

"Son-kun is so pathetic don't you think?"

"Eh?" Haruna looked at Risa confused.

"It's nothing Haruna, just something between friends." Mio explained.

"SPARKING~!"

As soon as Lala finished the last line, both Risa and Mio began clapping.

"Lala-chi, we didn't know you could sing so well!" The former said.

"It was like listening to an idol singing!" The latter added.

As they complimented the pinkette, Ren looked at Goku with a smirk.

'Heh, you're a fool Son Goku. You let your chance slip away...' He thought as he stood up. 'However, I will not make the same mistake!'

"Oh, Ren-chan. Are you going to see next? Here." Lala handed Ren the microphone.

"Thank you Lala-chan." Ren said before quickly throwing it in to the wall, damaging it. "Whoops! My hand slip!"

Everyone looked at him incredulously, most especially Goku. It was obvious from the get go that he threw it on purpose.

"How clumsy of me! It seems that the mike is now broken." He said before smiling at Lala. "No other choice, let us sing together using the same mike Lala-chan!"

'Fufufu... With this, I can win!'

"I can't. I only knew one song!"

Ren fell to the ground depressed, his plan failing from the start... No, before that.

"You do know that you're going to have to pay for that right?" Goku whispered to him with a smirk on his face as he pointed to the broken microphone. He could only laugh quietly to himself at Ren due to his failure.

"I'm going to the bathroom now~" Lala said as she left the room. The girls began picking out a new song before Mio had noticed something off.

"Hmm? Where did Son-kun go?" Ren and the others looked around and saw that the young man had disappeared from the room.

'H-He wouldn't...!'

Goku finished his business in the male latrine, quickly washing his hands and drying them in the process.

He had decided to follow and keep an eye on Lala to make sure Ren didn't have a chance sneak one by him.

'What am I doing...?' He thought as he began walking back towards their booth.

The reason he had come here in the first place was because of Ren's idiocy. But in spite of all that, the young man sincerely cared for Lala. He might've seen this competition as way to ensure his future with her, but all in all, at it was because he loved her that he did so.

If it wasn't for that, Goku was sure he might've let Ren be with Lala.

However part of him wasn't satisfied with that ending even if the white haired boy did so.

'Damn it... Have I really started falling for Lala?'

Now that he thought about it, if Lala were to fall for Ren, then that would mean that she would leave the Earth. That would also mean that her father would most likely blow up the planet if she did. However, Goku wasn't as bothered by the latter as he was with the former.

He also felt quite conflicted. He was still quite sure that he held feelings for Haruna, but now he felt as though he was starting to have the same type for Lala.

"Geez... It's like what mom always said: Being a teenager is going to be the most complicated part of your life, so be ready for it Goku! You never know when you'll start developing weird feelings!" He spoke in a high pitched voice. "I guess she was right."

"Argh! I really wish I had something to punch right now!" Goku exclaimed in a frustrated voice as he pulled at his hair. Fighting and training were quite simpler than this!

"Goku? Are you alright?"

He froze when he felt and heard Lala standing behind him. He looked to see a curious look on the girl's face.

He sighed for a moment before replying to her question.

"No, it's nothing. I'm just excited for the World Tournament is all."

"Oh, I see." The girl smiled. "Do you think you're going to win it Goku?"

"Honestly? I don't know." Goku replied as his mind was taken off the subject of Lala and Haruna.

"I mean, the last time I fought in the tournament was in the Junior Division and that was over six years ago. And the only people I've really had a decent fight against is Grandma, Vegeta and his sister, and two of my cousins. I've heard from my Grandma that there's going to be a lot of strong competition in the tournament this year."

"But you don't sound worried at all, why is that?"

"Because I'm excited!" Goku replied with a smile on his face that surprised Lala. "Fighting against new opponents is something I've wanted to do for a while now. I'm sure that even Vegeta wants that too. And if my Grandma says that the competition is going to be strong, then that means it has to be true!"

Lala curiously noted the signs of great happiness on Goku's face, a look that she had seen somewhere before on someone else she knew.

"You really like fighting don't you?"

"Huh? I guess so." Goku placed both hands on the back of his head. "Though back when I was a kid, I wasn't that much a brave guy if you know what I mean. When other kids would bully me or tried to pick a fight with me, I'd either let them or just run away. I was really pathetic."

"But you grew up to become strong didn't you?" Lala asked with a smile. "You sort of remind me of my Papa."

Goku gave her a surprised look. What had she meant by that? Before he could ask, someone yelled.

"Lala-chan! Don't be deceived by him! I'm the only one for you!"

Ren came running down the corridor from behind Lala. He was running at full speed, however thanks to that he tripped on his own two feet and fell forward.

"Ren-chan? Ah!"

Lala moved out of the way as Ren fell.

"Huh?"

Both Goku and Ren could only stare blankly into space as their faces came closer to each other.

The following program contains scenes unsuitable for younger audiences. Please wait a moment before as this scene comes to an end.

"Why didn't they just cut it out?" Mikan stated as she laid on the sofa.

"Who knows? Some people just don't think anymore." Pan replied as she was knitting.

"Argh...!"

Both Goku and Ren groaned as they wiped their mouths.

"Wah! I didn't know the two of you became such good friends already!" Lala smiled at the two.

Behind the corner, the other three stood there watching the scene as it played out.

"I guess this match ends in a draw." Risa said.

"Yup." Mio added.

"...?" Haruna blinked in confusion.

A few days later, on the beaches of Sainan during the night...

"Hah!"

"Too slow!"

Lala watched in amazement as the elderly Son Pan parried every single one of her grandson's attacks. Their fists being nothing but blurs to her.

This wasn't the first time she had seen the two spar, she had seen them do so every so often during the summer break. But seeing it always amazed her since the two were only sparring, but were putting on an amazing show that would've put to shame any warrior from Deviluke aside from her father.

"Grr!"

*SMASH*

Goku's fist landed on vacant ground as Pan disappeared and reappeared above him.

"Crap!"

"Watch your language young man." The old woman smiled at him before unleashing a kicking him in the head.

*BAM*

Pan then kneed her grandson in the gut.

*SMACK*

She sent a light jab to his face before elbowing him in the gut, and kicked him into the air.

*BAM* *SMACK* *BAM*

Pan floated right next to her grandson as he came to a stop in the sky. Goku flinched in terror when he noticed this.

*SMACK* *BAM* *BAM* *SMACK* *SMASH*

"Guogh!"

Goku felt himself get hit four times to the chest and was blown back by his grandmother. Despite it being only a sparring match, and the fact that the young man was somewhat going all out at 50%, his grandmother was still toying with him. She was treating this thing like it was a game!

Now that he thought about it, every time they sparred with each other, his grandmother had not once transformed into a Super Saiyan despite having the form to use as she pleased. Either that meant she was so strong that she didn't need to use it against him, or it was because her elderly body could no longer sustain it for long. Goku thought it was probably a bit of both.

"Hah, take this!"

*BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST*

Goku sent numerous Ki blasts at her. However, Pan merely smiled in response as she put both hands together in front of her.

"MASENKO-HA!"

"What the!? A Masenko at this range!? That's overkill... Guargh!"

*BOOM*

Goku laid inside a crater after his grandmother's attack. He slowly sat up as he held his head.

"Ow... That's gonna leave a mark."

"That's what you get for taking me on squirt! You still have a long way to go before you can take me on!" Pan directed a V-Sign at him, the traditional Son grin on her face.

"Hope I don't become as old as you before that happens..." Goku muttered as he stood up.

Lala went up right next to the two with a big smile on.

"That's was amazing! The way you two fight reminds me of my Papa!"

"Is that so? Perhaps your father should compete in the World Tournament then? He might be able to judge how good a fiancee Goku Jr. is for you if they fight each other."

Goku looked at his grandmother with a shocked look on his face. Had his grandmother lost her mind!?

"Wait, Grandma, are you joking!? That's...!"

"That's a great idea!" Lala nodded in agreement. "Papa always did like a good fight, perhaps he'll like Goku after seeing how strong he is~!"

The young fighter felt his jaw drop at that. Had judgement day come early? If he failed to impress Lala's father, then that could mean the end of Earth!

He didn't know how strong the King of Deviluke was, but if Lala had the potential to blow away a storm with just the sound of her voice yelling, then most likely he was as strong as his title implied as the conqueror of the galaxy.

However, he felt a reassuring grip on his shoulder as he looked to see his grandmother standing beside him.

"It'll be alright Goku. Should anything happen, I know someone who'll be able to protect the Earth."

"Who's that...?"

"I think you'll meet him at the tournament." Pan replied. "For now, just think of him as a family friend."

A family friend? Most people who were close to his family aside from Vegeta's family were normal people. Was it Master Roshi? No, despite his age and experience, Roshi was far weaker than Goku in terms of power. It was his wisdom and knowledge as an old sage that granted him greatness.

'I wonder who it could be...?'

As he thought about this, Lala developed a curious look on her face before speaking out.

"I know I ask this before but," She began before pausing. "Are you all really humans? It's just that, I've seen how some of the other earthlings fight, but the way you two do it just seems on a whole other level than that."

Goku didn't know how to respond to that. He looked towards his grandmother and saw her nod to him and went before Lala.

"Well, I suppose you have the right to know since you're living with us." Pan said as they decided to sit down on a nearby bench.

"Listen well Lala... Myself, Goku and Mikan are descended from the race of aliens known as Saiyans."

"S-SAIYANS...!?" Peke exclaimed.

"Peke? What's wrong...?"

"N-Nothing Lala-sama! I think I just misheard what Pan-san said."

"Nope, you heard right Peke." Pan spoke up. "Every member that is from my side of the family are members of the Saiyan race."

"Wait... I think I heard about this before!" Lala spoke up. "You're the ones who turned into giant monsters at full moons right?"

"That's right. Though we Saiyans would need a tail to pull that trick off, and in case you haven't noticed until we don't have them anymore. We have our tails cut off permanently to prevent something like that from happening."

"I see." Lala nodded in understanding. "Why did you freak out so suddenly Peke?"

"W-Well you see Lala-sama... The Saiyan race were renowned for being a notoriously brutal species that would go off into space and conquer other planets and wipe out any lifeforms there in order to sell them to the highest bidder. However, due to an incident, the Saiyans were ironically wiped out when their own home planet was destroyed."

"That's too bad..." The pinkette gave a sad look to the two people before her. "I'm sorry to hear that your species is extinct."

"Don't worry about it too much. We're as much Human as we are Saiyans, that's what my father and grandpa used to say to me when I was young. We've lived on the Earth for more than a century now, this is our home!" Pan said with a grin on her face.

"Hmm! Home is where the heart is after all!"

"Speaking of home, we better get back now. Mikan's probably getting annoyed at how long we're taking here." Goku said as the trio began their back to the Son home.

The next day...

Goku sighed in relief as he and Lala managed to get by the gate as it closed.

The former had woken up quite late thanks to his midnight training session, and because this, the usually early Goku and Lala were nearly late in their arrival.

"This is what happens when you don't pay attention to things~!" The pinkette said in a sing-song voice.

"I don't want to hear that coming from you!"

Unknown to the young man, someone, specifically a girl from the second floor, was watching Goku with a smile on her face. Her red eyes being similar to a certain person.

Author's Notes:

Ren finally makes his debut, with Run making a small cameo at the end! I know I said that I'd write Run's appearance together with Ren's, but I found it too hard to do and decided to stick with the original script with my own flavor.

Also, Lala finds out that Goku and his family are descended from Saiyans! Though only Peke is really surprised by it as the one with more common sense than her master. Lala is more sad to hear that the Saiyans are extinct rather than anything else. I mean, who would wish genocide on an entire species, regardless of what they've done?

Next up, either I'll go ahead and show Golden Darkness like said before, or I'll go introduce Saki and her posse before her. As much as I like Yami, the three stooges of Tenjouin already know who Goku is and are casual acquaintances since Rin is a student of the Kikoukenjutsu school, making her one of out of the few To Love-Ru cast members who I'll be writing that can use Ki much like Goku and the others.

Then again, I might just combine both introductions into one with Yami's being more dominant since I like her more.

Signing off!
