Chapter 8: Troublesome Days 2
That morning, Goku woke up with a strange feeling.
He didn't know what the cause was, but it wasn't the presence of anyone dangerous that caused him to have such a feeling.
The young man went about his usual morning routine of taking a bath and brushing his teeth before heading downstairs for breakfast.
When he arrived at the table, he saw that his Grandmother was already done making breakfast and was just finishing setting up the tableware. She then noticed presence at that point and said.
"Morning sleepyhead. Catch a good night's rest?"
"Yup, though for some reason I have this weird feeling on the back of my mind. Don't know what it is though." Goku replied as he dug in.
"Hmm, it probably has something to do with the fact that a certain someone isn't here with us."
"What are you...?" Goku began before he looked around the room. Mikan had just arrived and sat down at the table, but a certain pinkette wasn't around when usually she was one of the first to sit down during breakfast.
"No wonder I was feeling something off. Where's Lala? I haven't seen her all morning..."
"Lala-san woke up earlier today and said that she had some errands to run. She said that she'd be skipping school." Mikan said as she began eating her meal.
"Skipping school?" Goku was somewhat surprised. Lala was, from the moment she stepped into his classroom dressed in uniform, always the type to get excited in going to school. For her to skip it was strange indeed, a trait out of character from what he knew of her.
'Now that I think about it, aside from what I've seen and what she's already told me, I barely know anything about Lala.'
For a reason unknown the young man he was troubled by this fact. He didn't understand why, but he just didn't like it at all.
'It really has been a while since I walked to school without Lala with me...'
Goku stretched his arms as he let out a relaxed sigh. Today was a fine day to be taking a walk. A not to hot sun shining brightly, a clear sky, and gentle breeze all over. What more could a person ask?
*SMASH*
The young fighter casually avoided being squished by a giant fist. He looked forward to see Yami staring at him with her usually emotionless face.
'Of course this happens.' He thought before speaking to the blonde.
"First time you've attacked me since then. What gives? I thought we were friends?"
"Don't misunderstand. Just because I haven't attacked you all those times you went to school with the princess doesn't mean we are friends."
"Ah, I see." Goku nodded as a smile formed on his face, a smile which caused Yami to flinch due to it resembling a smirk.
"You just don't want Lala to get angry at you, isn't it?"
*SLASH*
He jumped as he avoided one her hair appendages slicing him in half.
"Please don't bring the Princess into this. It's unbecoming if you are a man." The blonde girl said as parts of her hair and body turned into weaponry.
"Yes, yes. I promise I won't." He merrily replied with a cheerful smile, a response that somewhat annoyed the girl as the latter was trying to kill all the while the boy was acting very nonchalant about it.
"Are you looking down on me?" The girl took a stance to ready herself.
"Wait a minute Yami." Goku held out his hand to stop the girl who gave him a surprised look. "Do you think we can settle this some other time?"
"And what time would that be?"
"How about the Tenkaichi Budokai? You've heard about it by now haven't you?" The young fighter asked.
"Yes, I have heard of it." Yami replied as her hands and hair transformed back into normal. "However, there is a 'No Killing' rule that would conflict with my task of ending you. So we cannot settle it there."
"But that's sort of a waste isn't it? I mean, when I fought you, I kinda had a lot of fun." Goku replied as he put both hands on the back of his head. "Besides, it's not like you really want to kill me right?"
Yami stared at the boy with an uncertain expression on her face. He was the first one among her targets to say that fighting her was fun, and not in the way that resembled blood-thirsty battle hungry warriors, but in a way that resembled a child telling another that playing with them was fun and would like to do so again.
Why was it that someone like him who could easily dodge and counter her attacks, as well as destroy small spaceships with ease using an energy blast, think like that? It didn't make any sense to her whatsoever.
However, to the girl, that was a question for another day. She returned her focus onto the boy's question and replied.
"It's not a matter of me not wanting to, just doing it is my duty. I believe I have explained this before."
"Geez... such a stubborn girl you are." Goku sighed as he a determined look appeared on his face, a look that Yami noted was the first time she was seeing.
"Alright then, I guess I have no choice!" He pointed his finger at Yami. "Listen here, if you and I come face-to-face at the tournament and I win, you'll give up on ever killing me, alright?"
For a few moments, Yami contemplated the young man's words.
"Fine by me. However, if I win. You shall buy me all the Taiyaki I want." Yami replied.
...
"Wait, what? I thought you were going to kill me?" Goku did not expect her reply in any way at all.
"I never said when I would kill you, have I?"
"Well, no... But-"
Before anything else could be said between the two, Yami had taken off into the sky, leaving behind a bewildered Goku.
"I don't think I'll ever understand that girl. She says she wants to kill me, but decides when she'll kill me? She must like Taiyaki a lot."
Goku continued on his way to school, his thoughts drifting from time to time about the blonde-haired assassin known as Yami.
"Eh? Goku?"
The young man stopped in his tracks when he saw Haruna standing in front of him with a surprised expression on her face.
"Morning." Goku waved with a smile as he walked over to the girl.
"Lala-san is not with you this morning?" She asked as they began walking to school together.
"Nope. She told Mikan that she had some errands to do. Don't know what it is though."
"I see."
During that short conversation, Goku and Haruna were not the only students that were walking to school in the same street as there were also a few boys around.
"What!? Lala-chan is absent today!?"
"No way!"
"Son Goku! What did you do to her!?"
The two quickened their pace towards school, not wanting to deal with them and their complaints. Goku also shot them an annoyed glare for good measure and sure enough, the boys stood in fright and bowed in apology as he and Haruna walked away.
It was at that moment that Goku noticed the paper bag the girl held in one of her hands.
"What's that...?"
"Ah! This is..." Haruna trailed off, unsure of what to say.
"SON GOKU!"
Both turned around and saw that a student was dashing towards them while kicking up quite a dust cloud.
That person was none other than Ren Elise Jewelria. This was the first time in a while that Goku saw the young man.
"I HEARD THAT LALA-CHAN IS ABSENT TODAY! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?"
*THWACK*
"Ack!"
"Kya!"
Ren ran right into Goku and the trio fell in tumbled heap.
"You little... get off!"
He pushed the white-haired boy off him and tried to stand up.
"Ah...!"
However, as Goku did so, his hand felt something soft. When he looked to see what it was, a mortified look appeared on the young man's face.
His hand was currently resting upon Haruna's chest as he tried to get up, a heavy blush on the girl's face as she looked at him.
"H-H-H-H-Haruna-chan...! S-Sorry! I swear on my great ancestor's name that I didn't mean it!" He bowed and bowed to the blue-haired girl who merely had an unidentifiable expression on her face. He couldn't tell if she was angry, embarrassed or both.
However, accidental or not, a part of Goku felt very lucky. A fighter he may be, but he was as much a teenager as any other boy his age.
'No! Bad Goku! Saruyama's been influencing me more than I thought!'
Before anything else could be said between the two, Haruna ran off. Leaving the young fighter currently in shock at her action. He now believed that she believed that he might've done that on purpose and so she ran. That, or she was angry at him. Either way he was screwed.
"Now answer me Son Goku! What has happened to Lala-chan!?"
Ren was back in action and quickly turned his attention to the still shocked boy, shaking him by the shoulders.
"Read the damn mood..." Goku began as he gritted his teeth.
"Huh?"
"MASENKO-HA!"
"Gagh!"
The white-haired young man was blasted into the sky by Goku, the latter with a face of pure annoyed rage.
Those who witnessed this event could only pity both boys, the latter for what had happened between him and the girl, the former for getting a Ki blast to the face. Though some would say that the former deserved it since it was his fault in the first place.
"So, what was it that you wanted to talk about?"
The day went by quickly and classes had ended. Goku and Haruna stood alone in the corridors after the former helped the latter clean up the classroom as was their assigned duties that day.
He had caught up with Haruna earlier after reaching school to apologize. The girl accepted it much to the young man's relief but she later told him that she wanted to talk to him later after school. She didn't say why, but he went along with it anyway.
"Here."
She extended her hands together, both of which held the same paper bag that she brought to school with her.
"This is...?" He took it and opened its contents. Inside, it revealed a...
"A watering can...?" Goku looked at her somewhat surprised and confused.
"I saw it at the mall one day and I thought about you." She replied with a smile on her face. "I remember you telling me once that when you were little you used to play around in flower fields, and that you help your grandmother care for the garden you have at your home. So, I thought..."
"Thanks, I think it's great." Goku smiled in gratitude. He didn't expect Haruna to remember that little tidbit about himself. It's not that he was embarrassed about being something of a gardener, it was more of surprise at the girl giving him such a gift.
"Also, there's something else."
"What is it?"
"Look inside the watering can." Haruna's voice became somewhat quieter, even more than usual.
Goku did as he was told and looked inside. There, he found a red cloth that looked somewhat aged though at the same time clean.
A flash of brilliance went throughout his mind as he realized what it was.
"Wait... this is my old bandanna." He muttered in amazement as he looked at the girl. "Where did you get this? The last time I saw this was around-"
"Four years ago...?" Haruna finished as she looked up at him with a light blush on her face.
"Yeah, that's right. How did you...?"
His mind clicked and Goku quickly made the connection. He now understood why his old accessory was in the hands of the blue-haired girl.
"You were that girl from back then...!"
A memory came to him from around four years ago when he encountered a few bullies picking on a girl and Goku stepped in to help the latter out. Now that he remembered it clearly, that girl and Haruna were one in the same.
"Yes, it looks like you finally remembered." Haruna replied with a nod.
Goku stared at her somewhat amazed at the realization that he had already met Haruna before they first became classmates.
"So... why didn't you say anything?" He asked.
"I tried to tell you once, when we first met." A pout appeared on Haruna's face which Goku noted made her look adorable. "But you completely forgot about me by that time, so I couldn't really say anything. It was sort of frustrating you know! You even promised to help me out... but you completely forgot about me even though it was only two days later that you transferred into our class in middle school and we became classmates."
"Ahahaha... Sorry about that." Goku laughed, somewhat embarrassed. His sister would sometimes call him out on his forgetfulness. Now he understood what she meant by what she had said.
"It's alright." Haruna replied as the smile on her face returned. "As long as you don't forget about me from now on, I'll forgive you."
"Yeah," Goku nodded as the Son grin appeared on his face "...I promise I won't."
'Geez, just lost a perfectly good chance to confess...'
Goku walked home somewhat sulking at his failure but at the same time happy.
After all, receiving a gift from his crush was something any person would find delightful. He would make sure to take care of her gift to him.
He was also happy to be able to see his old bandanna again. Although merely an accessory, he considered it to be a good luck charm and often wore it during his training or during fights. Since it was in his possession again, Goku would start wearing the old thing once more.
'Still... I never thought Haruna would be that same girl.'
He had seen this type of thing happen before on TV. Boy saves girl then leaves, girl remembers boy but boy doesn't, they become friends and soon start both develop feelings for each other, girl reveals past, both start dating.
'I think I should lay off the soap operas from now on.' Goku chuckled to himself. It was his grandmother's influence no doubt. What was it about such shows that dragged people into watching them? Was it the drama of the story or the actors themselves? Or perhaps a bit of both?
Shaking his head free of such thoughts, he hurried home and soon found himself at the door to the Son home.
"I'm home!" He said as he entered the house.
"Surprise~!"
Goku stepped back in surprise when he saw Lala, Mikan, his grandmother, his father, and Zastin together at the entrance with smiles on their faces.
"Happy birthday Goku~!" Lala exclaimed happily.
He blinked as she said that, looking towards the calendar of the near the entrance and seeing that it was October 16; the boy's birthday to be precise.
"You completely forgot about it didn't you?" Mikan smirked at her older brother.
"Uh..."
"Hahaha! How lame of you my son!" Saiba laughed as he patted the boy on the back.
'Wait, does that mean that Haruna knew about it?' Goku thought.
"Something the matter?" Lala asked as she noticed the boy spacing out.
"It's nothing, thanks for remembering you guys." He smiled at all of them before looking at Lala. "By the way, where were you all day?"
"I went out to get a present for you~!" The girl cheered as she dragged him along with her.
"A present?" He muttered when Lala opened the sliding screen door to the outside.
"Huh? What the...!?"
Something pulled him by the leg and quickly the boy found himself hanging upside down. He looked to the source and saw a rather gigantic sunflower rooted in the backyard. A mouth with spiky teeth in its center, it was obviously alien in origin.
"What the heck!?"
"How do you like it Goku~? I found this on the Planet Plantas, it's a very rare breed of flower!"
"I was against it at first, but seeing as how friendly it is, I decided to let it slide." Pan mentioned as she stepped outside with them, the giant flower directing one of its vines to her in order for it touch her. "By the way, Mikan decided that her name should be Celine."
"Celine? It's a girl?" Goku muttered in amazement as he looked at the giant flower. It was like something out of that one Godzilla movie he watched together with Puck a few years back.
"She's not gonna eat me is she?" He asked as Celine nudged her mouth towards him, as though how a cat or dog would do when around people they liked.
"No she won't. She can eat anything, but doesn't really like meat." Lala replied. "She does eat instant noodles though!"
"A giant, sentient, alien flower that can eat instant noodles? Weirdest thing I've ever seen, heard, and said." He commented before smiling somewhat. "Still, as long as she behaves herself, she can stay."
With that, Celine began spinning Goku around somewhat happily, if one could interpret it that way, much to the young man's chagrin as he started to get dizzy.
"Looks like she's taken a liking to you Goku." Mikan said before smirking. "Good luck taking care of it."
The young man's life became somewhat more exotic than what it was already. Now he had a giant alien flower in his backyard to take care of in addition to looking out for the pink-haired alien princess that brought him the flower in the first place.
'Things cannot get any weirder than this.'
The next day...
Goku woke up with a strange feeling on his left side. When he looked to see what it was...
"Gah!"
He quickly backed up against the wall when he saw that it was none other than Lala who once again snuck into his bed while he was asleep, the girl was naked as usual.
"Lala! Why are in my bed!? I though you said you'd be sleeping in that lab of yours from now on!"
When the girl awoke, she looked at him sleepily before widening her eyes as a deep blush formed on her face.
"Kyaah!"
She ran out of the room covering herself in his bed sheets, leaving a bewildered Goku alone as he questioned the very un-Lala like behavior that she just exhibited.
"Uh... okay, I stand corrected."
"Uh... Lala, you okay?"
Goku asked the girl as she walked in front of him on their way to school. Something was definitely strange about her, especially the way she behaved since she had awoken that morning.
She was far more... reserved to say the least. The Lala he knew was an active and cheerful girl, the way she was behaving was more in line with someone like Haruna.
"Of course I am... Why do you ask?"
"Uh, Well... ever since this morning..."
A blush quickly formed on the girl's face.
"Um... could we please not talk about it?" She asked, in a somewhat quiet tone. "It's kinda embarrassing."
'Okay, this is starting to weird me out.'
The duo arrived at the school gates, and their they were greeted by the trio of Haruna and her two friends; Risa and Mio.
"Yo, Lala-chii~" Risa spoke out with a smile. "Good morning."
"Good morning, Goku and Lala-san." Haruna greeted.
"Morning." Goku merely waved back.
"Good morning to you as well. Haruna-san, Risa-san, and Mio-san." Lala greeted with a smile. "Shall we move on and head to class?"
They, along with Goku, blinked in surprise at the girl's formal choice of words to greet them. Before they could ask anything regarding the matter, Lala had already moved on and went towards their classroom.
"Uh... is something wrong with Lala-chii?"
"Didn't she seem so... formal?"
"Goku?" Haruna looked to her old friend who merely shrugged his shoulders.
"Beats me."
"Ah, Lala-chan!"
Ren Elise Jewelria arrived that morning with a smile on his face as he greeted Lala within the hallways of the school, the girl somewhat bewildered by his sudden presence.
"You're as beautiful as always! Truly, you are a masterpiece crafted by the hands of God himself!"
"Do aliens even believe in God?"
Off to the side, Goku watched them with a curious look on his face. Lala had behaved strangely all day, he wondered how she'd react to the white-haired boy's presence now that he was here.
Before he knew it, Lala had hid herself behind his back as Ren complimented her. When he noticed this, the boy stood in shock.
"Lala-chan...?"
"Um... Please stop it." She spoke, her tone once again that of a quiet girl. "It's embarrassing!"
'...! She doesn't like my complimenting her!?'
"I'M SO SORRY!" The boy ran away while crying tears as Goku looked at Lala with bewildered look once more.
"Did you want to talk to me about something Goku?"
Later that day, the young man brought the pinkette onto the rooftop with him to have a talk about the latter's behavior that entire day.
"Say Lala. The way you've been acting lately is..."
*WHOOSH*
A strong wind quickly had put a halt on any words the boy was going to say when Lala's skirt was pushed up due to the breeze. Lala quickly covered skirt with her hands as she looked at Goku with a flustered expression on her face.
"Y-You saw it... didn't you?"
"Huh? Ah! Wait, I, that's...!"
'I can't tell her I saw white!'
"Goku, you're a pervert."
*BAM*
Goku face faulted to the ground with a hard crash, enough to break the tiles of the rooftop floor. He quickly stood back up as he stared at Lala with an incredulous look on his face. The girl was covering her own face with her hands, seemingly embarrassed by what had occurred earlier.
'Just what the heck is going on!? Lala's definitely acting weird today...!' He thought before an idea came to his mind. 'Wait, she couldn't be an impostor could she!? If she is, then that might explain why she's acting so strangely!'
Using his ability to sense energy, he directed it towards the pinkette in front of him.
"Hmm?"
Lala's energy was different from how it was today. Normally, it was something that felt quite lively and cheerful, as the girl herself was. And also resembled a giant bonfire when compared to normal humans. Now though, it was wavering rather erratically.
He quickly went up to the girl and held a hand to her forehead.
"You... have a fever don't you?" He asked as he felt her warmer than usual. "Why didn't you say anything earlier?"
"Now that you mention it, Lala-sama's body temperature is higher than usual." Peke spoke up.
"So it really is a fever." He nodded to himself as he crossed his arms looking at the girl. "But why is she not acting like she's being affected at all?"
"It seems that the young princess of Deviluke has caught the Korotto-flu."
A voice made Goku turn his attention back to see someone coming up onto the rooftop. It was a woman with short red hair and voluptuous figure. She was wearing a white coat over the pink and black outfit she wore underneath.
The woman was none other than the school nurse; Ryoko Mikado.
"Mikado-sensei!" Goku spoke out in surprise before something came to mind. "Wait... what did you just say?"
"I said that it seems that the young princess has caught the Korotto-flu."
"Y-You know who Lala is...!? Then does that mean that you're an alien too?"
Goku questioned as he used his ability to sense energy to confirm his thoughts. Indeed, her energy was somewhat different than humans but was very similar when compared to one.
"Yes I am, and her tail is a dead giveaway to her race don't you think?" Mikado asked with a sly smile that unnerved Goku for some reason. "And I also know for a fact that you're no ordinary person yourself, aren't you? My young Saiyan friend?"
The young man flinched in surprised when he heard that word coming the nurse's mouth. How had she known and for how long?
"Don't be so surprised. The school holds an annual health inspection every year doesn't it? That provided me ample time to collect samples from you."
'Dang, I let my guard down on that one...'
"Do not worry. I have no intention of using your identity against you. Your family, myself, and that princess, aren't the only aliens that live on this planet after all." Mikado replied as she looked around the view of the city from the rooftop. "My job here is to heal them, not to put them in any harm's way."
"I see." Goku nodded in reply before remembering the situation on hand. "Wait, you said something about Lala getting some kind of flu?"
"The Korotto-flu. It's a very rare disease that once caught, it will change a person's personality in reverse and give them a slight fever. Like for example: a serious person becomes a cheerful person." She explained. "It can only be caught on very specific locations throughout the galaxy, but not here on Earth."
'So that explains it. Lala did go off planet to find a present for me yesterday.'
"This should help cure the Princess." Mikado handed Goku a small vial that contained a red liquid. "It's flu medicine that I have had in stock for a while now."
"You're not going to charge us anything are you...?"
Goku could not help but ask that. Mikado's demeanor reminded him of the seductive temptresses that he saw often on TV. That also did not help the fact that for all of his skills, he could not get a read on her true motives... Meaning that Ryoko Mikado was a complete unknown to him.
"Don't be silly." The woman smiled at him. "Though normally I charge for this kind of thing, I can't charge my cute students."
She then turned around and took her leave.
"Take care you two, try not to get into any trouble."
That night...
"So... you mean to tell me that there are aliens all around us hiding throughout the city?" Mikan questioned as she read a magazine. "Somehow I'm not surprised considering what we are."
"Same here." Goku added before looking towards Peke who floated in her white robot form. "Why didn't you notice that Lala was sick?"
"I was careless. Lala-sama had never gotten sick her entire life, so I let my guard down." The costume robot replied.
"I guess that makes sense." Mikan commented as a smile formed on her face. "At least Lala-san's back to normal anyway."
As if on cue, the pinkette walked inside the living room completely naked, her body dripping wet from having just come out of the bath.
"Mikan-chan! There are no towels left!"
"Here!" Goku threw the girl a towel, having suspected something like this may happen, as he averted his gaze while continuing. "Cover yourself up already! I already told you not to walk around naked didn't I?"
'If this is what it means to be normal, I think I'd prefer sick Lala more than anything.'
His memories of that day surfaced in his mind, a light blush appeared on his face.
'Still... she was pretty cute.'
"Hmm? What's the matter Goku~?"
"Ack! Not so close!"
That day after that...
"And here I though I've seen everything..."
Goku muttered aloud as he and his little sister stepped inside Lala's laboratory, the same one she began building all the way back before summer began. The girl having finished it a while ago, things were still quite pristine.
"How did you build all this inside my tiny closet?"
"Oh that was simple. I used the specially made spatial-distortion system that one of my relatives gave me for a birthday present a while back." The girl replied.
"Spatial Distortion...?" Goku muttered.
"In other words, it's alien science." Mikan added.
"With this and the stuff I had delivered from Deviluke, I can finally get down to building my large scale inventions that I've been planning on building for sometime now. Look forward to it, alright Goku~?" She winked at him.
'That does not reassure my in anyway.' He noted mentally as he remembered that last few inventions of Lala that did not go according to plan, or blew up in general. If what the girl said was true, then those were just the small time machines she built. He was somewhat afraid of what the girl could build if she went big on her ideas.
He looked around and saw many unique looking devices inside the lab. Indeed, alien technology was far different to what Earth used not just in utility but also appearance. But perhaps it might just the result of Lala's personal tastes that her inventions appeared so weird. Zastin's armor being a hint that Lala had her own unique tastes as the former once told him it was standard issue for commanders of Deviluke to wear such things.
Goku also knew better than to touch anything. He didn't know what would happen if he were to touch something and activate it by accident, and he wasn't about to find out.
"Lala-san, have you always been doing stuff like this? Building inventions?" Mikan asked.
"That's right. Ever since I was little I would make machines to play with. Life in the palace was pretty boring." She replied.
"The number of things you've made here... Bloom would probably get along great with you." Goku commented.
"Bloom? Who's that?"
"Remember Vegeta? She's his little sister." He answered. "She likes to tinker around with machines, or anything in particular, and upgrade them with her own designs when she's not sparring or training."
Goku remembered that one time about five years ago when he and his family visited the Leigh's at Capsule Corp., he walked in on her tinkering with one of her family's limousines and outfitting the engine with something that gave it the horsepower equivalent to that of a rocket ship to space as a prank.
The driver of the limousine who drove the vehicle after her "enhancements" quit the following day and Bloom received quite the scolding. Although he did remember that she also received quite a number of toys afterwards as well.
"Now that I think about it, Bloom-chan hasn't payed a visit to us in a while." Mikan noted.
"She's probably training for the World Tournament... Which I should be doing too since it's only about five months from now and I haven't exactly been training much... See ya later!"
Goku quickly left the room, leaving a bewildered Lala and an unsurprised Mikan.
"Say, Mikan-chan,"
"What is it?"
"This Bloom, and her brother Vegeta... Are they strong?"
Lala knew for a fact that Goku was quite powerful, but that didn't mean the same to the people he would probably be facing off against in the Tournament.
"I'm not really into martial arts, so I don't really know. But what I do know is that both Vegeta-san and Bloom-chan are one of the few people Goku sees as tough opponents other than our cousins. Everyone else loses quickly against him." Mikan replied.
The pinkette nodded, somewhat understanding. If Goku thought they would be a tough fight, then it had to be true.
At the main Capsule Corporation building in Capsule City...
"Vegeta! Please let me train inside your Gravity Chamber!"
"Ten-thousand zenni an hour then." Vegeta replied with crossed arms. "And an extra five-thousand for every ten g's that you take it up to."
"Ack! That's just highway robbery damn it!" Goku exclaimed. "You damn cheapskate! I thought we were friends!"
"This and that are two completely different things. Are you going to pay or not?"
Goku began bargaining with Vegeta and the two eventually came to an agreement at five-thousand zenni an a hour and two-thousand for every ten g's.
Let it be known that Vegeta Leigh was a cheapskate who liked to mess with his friends when presented the opportunity, especially his rival Goku.
That afternoon... Bloom Leigh was walking around her home with bored expression her face.
She had passed the day creating new upgrades for her family's inventions and training for the Tenkaichi Budokai. Though not as brilliant a fighter as her brother or Goku, she was someone who enjoyed the thrill of it in general.
'I wonder what I should be doing today...?' She thought. 'Should I go mess with Nii-san? No, he's probably training. He'd get mad if I interrupted him.'
As if on cue, the subject of her thoughts was there walking down the hallway with what looked to be a wad of cash in his hands?
"Nii-san?"
"Huh? Oh, it's you Bloom." Vegeta noted his sister's presence.
"Uh, what's with the money? Are you planning on spending it somewhere?"
"No, just the result of a business transaction I had with a mutual friend of ours. And that's all I'm going to say about it." He replied and walked off while smirking.
"A business transaction with a mutual friend...?" She wondered who could it be when she heard footsteps coming from the direction of the Gravity Chamber. The same direction that her brother had come from.
"What kind of friend asks payment for asking to have place to train? That's the last time I'll invite him to a party." Goku walked through the hallways of Capsule Corp in his training gear with his other clothes stuffed into the bag he was carrying.
"G-Goku-san...?" Bloom muttered in bewilderment at the boy's presence as light blush appeared on her face.
The boy was shirtless which showed off his slim but impressive build. Combined with his sweat and rather handsome face, it was the sort of eye candy girls her age liked to see. Not to mention the fact that Bloom had something of a crush on him.
"Huh? Ah, Bloom! Good to see you. How have you been?"
"E-Eh? Ah! I'm doing fine." She waved to him as she averted her gaze from his body to look at him directly. His honest eyes cleansing her mind of anything other than the conversation she was having with the boy.
"What brings you here so suddenly?" Bloom asked. "I don't remember any word of you planning on visiting us today."
"Yeah, sorry about that. I know it was sudden, but I asked your brother if I can train inside your Gravity Chamber for the next few months before the Tournament begins. I haven't had much time to train thanks to school, so the fastest way to train my power would be here." Goku explained.
"I see, then that explains the wad of cash that Nii-san had..." She growled annoyed, knowing that her brother would sometimes ask for ridiculous things of Goku just to mess with him whenever the latter asked for a favor. She'd have talk to him about that later...
"So uh..." Bloom began. "...Do you plan on staying for dinner tonight?"
"Sorry, I can't. I'm about to head home since I'm in charge of buying groceries for dinner tonight."
"Oh, then that's too bad then." She said rather disappointed. She always liked having him over, and it wasn't just because she liked him, but also because she found it rather funny whenever he and her brother would sometimes have an eating contest to see who could last longer with the former being the winner all the time.
"By the way, you're entering the tournament aren't you?"
"Huh? Yes, I am."
"Then let's both meet in the ring. A promise right?"
Goku extended his hand forward and the girl smiled, taking it in her own before replying.
"Of course, who do you think I am?"
She was the younger sister of Vegeta Leigh; Runner-Up of the 64th Tenkaichi Budokai Junior Division. A scientist in the making she may be, but a fighter she was as well. In her veins ran the blood of the former Saiyan Prince himself according to Goku's grandmother. A part of her felt that it was her duty as his descendant to prove herself in the World Tournament just as he, her ancestors, and her brother did before.
Later that night at Capsule Corp...
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME GOKU-SAN WAS HERE EARLIER VEGETA NII-SAN?!" Bloom demanded. "AND WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT MESSING WITH HIM!?"
"GAH! I ALREADY SAID I'M SORRY!"
The fury of a female Saiyan was not something to take lightly... Something that Vegeta found out the hard way.
END
Author's Notes:
Based on chapters 27, 28, and 30 of the manga.
As you can see at the end, Bloom has two different personas. The first is what she shows to Vegeta: a teasing and somewhat mature little sister similar to Mikan, but more easy to annoy given the right circumstances (The blood of both Bulma and Vegeta Sr. runs in her veins after all.)
The second is what she shows to Goku: Friendly and somewhat shy around him due to her crush on him.
I hope that I manage to portray what I just said about her given she has only appeared in two chapters: this and ch.4. If not, I'll make up for it in future chapters.
Next chapter, Run makes her appearance as and some secrets are revealed. After that, Gid Lucion Deviluke finally makes his appearance.
Signing Off!
