Chapter 10: The King of Deviluke

"Hmm? Son-kun is absent today?"

Scanning the room, the homeroom teacher of Class 1-A could not find the spiky-haired young man at his usual seat whenever he counted the attendance of his students during the morning homeroom.

"That's right Honnekawa-sensei!" Lala perked up from her seat as she responded to the elderly man's question. "Goku said that he'd be taking a few days off from school to prepare for the World Tournament."

"That is understandable considering that it's only two weeks away from now." He nodded in understanding. "Then I suppose that makes him the only one who's absent today."

With that, several of the boys in class got a shine in their eyes. Devilish smiles appearing on their faces as they began murmuring among themselves.

"Did you hear that?"

"Yeah, that means we have Lala-chan all to ourselves today!"

"Thank you God for giving us the Tenkaichi Budokai! That idiot Goku won't be able to advance his relationship with Lala-chan like this!" Saruyama added while saying thank you over and over with both hands together.

"You do realize that we can hear all of you right? Your whispering is really loud." Risa stated with a deadpan look on her face. She and several of the other girls were not amused by the fact that they were being ignored by the boys in favor of Lala.

Though internally, they all agreed that since most of them were perverts, there wasn't much to miss.

"You boys do remember that Lala-chi and Son-kun live together right? So he has all the time in the world to advance their relationship." Mio added with an amused smile as the boys began looking shocked.

"Who knows? Maybe they already did it!"

"NOOOOOO!"

"M-Mio!" Haruna exclaimed with blush on her face, her mind having imagined what her friend had just said.

"Ahahaha~!" The girl laughed. "No need to take it so seriously boys!"

However, despite Mio's words, the boys continued their sulking.

"No... it can't be true could it?"

"Their's just no way...! There's no way it could be true!"

"Eh? What are they all crying about?" Lala asked as she pointed to the crying boys on the ground, having missed the entire dialogue that had occurred earlier due to her thoughts being preoccupied.

"Just ignore them." Risa replied with an amused smile directed at the Saruyama and company. "Boys will be boys after all."

"Can I begin the lesson now...?" The elderly teacher asked, being ignored as the boys continued sulking.

"Come on Goku! Show me what you've got!"

"Hah!"

In the forests near the vicinity of Sainan, Goku and Pan sparred with one another in preparation for the former's participation in the World Tournament.

*BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST* *BLAST*

Pan began blasting her grandson with a flurry Ki blasts as Goku flew away to dodge, the attacks destroying the Earth below.

Spinning around to look at her, Goku held both hands out forward and laid one on top of the other.

"MASENKO-HA!"

Goku returned the favor with one of his own, consuming the incoming Ki blasts from his Grandmother as it went towards her.

"Well if that's how you want to play it," Pan smirked as she held her own hands.

"MASENKO-HA!"

*BOOM*

The Earth shook as two high energy blasts collided with one another and exploded, Goku skidding across the ground from the explosion.

When the dust cleared, he saw that his Grandmother was floating in the same spot that she fired her own Masenko off, meaning that she wasn't affected by his attack at all.

Giving off a frustrated growl, Goku flew into the air and began exchanging blows with Pan.

'Grandma is toying with me as always...! I need to step up my game!' He noted silently to himself as his Grandmother parried every single one of his punches and kicks.

*BAM*

"Gargh!"

Goku held his stomach after Pan landed a clean punch to his gut.

"You're too distracted Goku, don't let your thoughts be clouded by anything else other than the fight itself." Pan lectured. "If you do, then you'll have an easier time anticipating your opponents moves. I've told you this before didn't I?"

"Duly noted." Goku replied while half-groaning due to his hurting stomach.

He just had decent breakfast, why did his Grandmother hit him there of all places? That was just mean.

"C'mon Bloom, your reaction time is too slow!"

"Kyah!"

*SMASH*

Inside the gravity chamber of Capsule Corp. Vegeta and Bloom were themselves training in preparation of the World Tournament. The gravity of which was set to 150x gravity as usual.

Bloom laid on the ground while holding her bruised shoulder, a look of frustration on her face as she looked up towards her brother.

"You didn't have to hit me that hard you know!"

"Hmph! A fighter never holds back!" Vegeta huffed as he crossed his arms. "Besides, with your speed, if you have to fight either me, Goku, or the twins, you'll never make it past the first round."

"Grr... no wonder you don't have a girlfriend yet." Bloom smirked as she saw her older brother's face falter slightly. "With that attitude, I can't imagine any girl being attracted to a guy like Nii-san."

"This and that are two completely different things!" Vegeta exclaimed in annoyance before noticing that Bloom had disappeared from his sights.

*BOOM*

"Argh!"

He cried out in pain as he felt a burning sensation on his back and he was thrown to the floor. Looking up behind him, there floated none other than his little sister with a cheeky smile on her face as her hand was extended in his direction.

"Basic rule in a fight. If your opponent has a flaw, or in this case a short temper, exploit it."

"Heh, mock me will you?" Vegeta smirked back at his sister whose own expression began faltering when she noticed her brother's eyes turning emerald, with his hair and aura flickering gold.

"Wha-!? That's not fair Nii-san! You know I haven't achieved that yet!"

"Sorry, but you know that I'm not the type of person who holds back in a fight!"

*BOOM*

Inside the Dojo of the New Turtle Hermit School within Satan City, two teens stood across from each other in the middle of ring where spars usually took place.

Those two teens were none other than both Beat and Note, wearing their usual Gi that this time had a turtle hermit insignia on the back.

"Ready Beat?" Note asked.

"I was born ready!" Beat exclaimed.

With that, the two siblings dashed towards each other and traded blows, the other students of the school looking on in awe at their ability.

Amid the crowd of students stood none other than the head of the Dojo himself, Master Roshi. A smile on his face as he watched Beat and Note spar with one another.

'These two definitely inherited good old Goku's will and spirit to fight just like their cousin.' He noted. 'I wonder if one of them will be able to defeat Goku Jr. if they put their minds to it.'

He briefly imagined the scenario before shaking his head, remembering the amount of power and experience Goku Jr. had in comparison to his two cousins.

'Still, ever since they achieved "that", there's still a possibility of them doing it.' Roshi thought to himself. 'Well in any case, with Piccolo and the Majins competing, this year's tournament is going to be one to remember.'

"KAMEHAMEHA!"

*BOOM*

"Hey! Don't do that in here or you'll wreck the whole building!" Roshi yelled but was ignored as the two siblings tried to overpower one another, the force of their blasts knocking everyone who wasn't near their level down onto the floor.

All-in-all, it was your everyday session at the New Turtle Hermit School.

Later that day...

"So this is Earth...?"

A young boy spoke to himself as he gazed upon the surrounding of Sainan City on a rooftop. He was wearing a black jacket complete with black shorts. He was also wearing earrings which was unusual for a boy looking no older than five to six to wear. He also had spiky hair that stood up.

However, in truth, the young boy was not actually a boy for he had spoken with a deep mature voice.

"Hmm... it's not so much a backwater planet than I thought." He noted some of the flying cars and strange contraptions that he could see throughout the city. "I'll have to remember to have someone update our data about this place."

A smirk appeared on his face, showing off the jagged teeth that he had.

"Now then, off to the school that Lala goes to. I wonder if that Goku kid is there with her today too."

In the middle of his training with his Grandmother, Goku quickly widened his eyes as he looked towards the direction of the city.

"Something the matter Goku?" Pan asked as she floated towards her grandson, noticing the

"I have a feeling that something is wrong." Goku replied. "For a brief moment, I felt an incredibly powerful Ki coming from the..."

"From your school right?" Pan inquired as the boy looked at her and nodded. "I felt it too. Go ahead, I'll be around should anything happen."

"Thanks Grandma!"

With that, the young man quickly flew off in the direction of Sainan High.

"Hmm? This power is...?"

Meditating inside the temple known as Kami's Lookout, Piccolo opened his eyes and walked outside. There stood the caretaker of the lookout Mr. Popo.

"Oh? Is something the matter Piccolo?"

"I sense a powerful Ki coming from the city where Pan lives together with her grandchildren."

"Are you sure it's not just them?"

"Positive. This sensation is different from I've sensed from Pan. And it can't be Goku, the power I'm sensing is about equal to Cell when he absorbed Android 17 or perhaps even higher. No matter the amount of training Goku did during the past six months, he wouldn't have gotten that strong within half-a-year. He'd need to train in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to pull something like that off in that amount of time."

Piccolo then turned to look at Popo.

"Tell Dende that I'm going to check this out. I'll be back later."

"Very well, if that is what you wish."

And with that, the Namekian Warrior flew off and headed towards the powerful signature located in Sainan City.

"Ah, finally we can go home."

Saki Tenjouin sighed in relaxation as she, Rin, and Aya, walked out of the school building.

"I, myself, cannot wait to take a hot bath." The blonde said before turning to Rin. "What about you Rin? Will you be training for the tournament as always?"

"That is my plan Saki-sama, though if you have something you wish to ask of me I will do it before anything else."

"No no, there's no need for that." Saki smiled in Rin's direction. "I know that you've been looking forward to this tournament for the past six months. So you must prepare if you are to win right? Then make sure you do and bring pride to your name as a bodyguard of the Tenjouin!"

"Understood Saki-sama." Rin bowed, in both respect and gratitude towards the blonde.

"With that settled, we should... Huh?"

The trio stopped in their tracks when the Blonde noticed a young boy right in front of her. He was wearing a black jacket with matching shorts.

"A lost kid?"

"It seem that way Saki-sama." Rin commented. However, a part of her felt wary for some reason. Perhaps it was the delinquent like look the boy had to him? That must be it. There would be no other explanation for her feelings right now.

"Carry me pretty lady!"

'P-Pretty?' She thought as the vanity switch inside her mind activated.

"I guess I have no choice do I?" She smiled mirthfully as she knelt down to the child's level. "Alright, get on my back."

"That's our Saki-sama, how kind of you to do so!" Aya commented.

"Hehe, call me the Queen of Kindness." Saki smirked.

Before anything else could be said, the child quickly climbed onto the blonde's back, but did not grab onto her shoulders.

"Kyah!"

The child's hands had suddenly grabbed Saki by her breasts.

"Wha...!?" The trio looked aghast as the boy quickly got off and put some distance between himself and them.

"Wahahaha! You fell for it!" He laughed.

"S-Stop right there!" Aya exclaimed.

"You little brat! How dare you touch Saki-sama's chest!" Rin added as she and Aya tried grabbing onto the boy.

*WHOOSH*

Both girls froze when the boy suddenly closed the distance between them and flipped their skirts, their panties being in full view.

"Kyaaah!" The two quickly covered their modesty as the boy ran off.

"What is it Zastin? Why did you want to meet with me so suddenly?"

That afternoon, both Lala and the Commander of the Devilukean Royal Guard stood on the rooftop of the Sainan High.

"If this is about my spending money, then I still have a lot to use."

"No, it's nothing of that sort Lala-sama." Zastin replied. "It's just a matter of importance that I speak with you today."

"Something important...?"

Unknown to the two, the important thing that Zastin wanted to speak about had already made his way into the school grounds.

"But really, to think that both Lala-chi and Son-kun were aliens... That's real bombshell don't you think?"

Haruna, Risa, and Mio sat together on a bench as they took a break from their Tennis Club session.

"Yeah, but when you think about it, it was kinda obvious when you look at the hints." Mio replied as she began listing off the number of reasons with her fingers.

"I mean, first of all would be Lala-chi's super strength and speed. She told us that she doesn't do martial arts right? So that's the only explanation. That and the way her tail moved always made me suspicious. She also has a great sense of style, which makes sense if she's an alien."

"Uh... what does being an alien have to do with style?" Haruna muttered quietly to herself as the two continued to converse.

"And then there's Son-kun." Mio began. "He grew like a weed last year right? Or was it two years ago? I can't really remember. That, and the fact he more or less defeats anyone in a fight could be the effect of his alien strength."

"The first one I agree with, but the second one I don't know." Risa commented. "Son-kun is mostly human remember? He told us that his great ancestor was the only pure alien in his family line."

"Yeah, I suppose your right." Mio shrugged in response.

*CRACKLE*

A loud burst caught their attention and the trio looked up to see none other than Goku flying in the sky before landing on the ground. The boy wasn't wearing his uniform, but a blue martial arts gi.

"Now, where's that signature coming from...?" He said before taking notice of Haruna and the rest. "Oh, hey there you three."

"What's the matter?" Haruna asked as she went closer to the boy. "Lala-san said that you would be taking a few days off from school. What happened?"

"Something came up. I felt a-"

"Kyah!" They all turned to look at the tennis court where the other members were playing.

There, they saw the girls having their skirts lifted by a young looking boy, he was probably around kindergarten age.

"I've discovered paradise~!" He cried out. "Earth sure has some fine looking ladies~!"

Hearing that last part, Goku narrowed his eyes at the boy and raised his senses. His body began sweating when took note of the boy's power.

'He's the one I sensed earlier...! There's no doubt about it!' He thought. 'But what's with this power...!? I think he's suppressing most of it... but it's more than what I've ever sensed before in my life!'

"Hey you there!" Goku snapped out of his thoughts when the boy in question pointed a finger at him.

"M-Me?" The young man asked as he pointed a finger towards himself.

"Yeah! Play a game with me!" It was then at that moment that Goku noticed the tennis racket and ball in the boy's hands. Deciding to play it safe for now, Goku nodded and asked for a racket from one of the members.

'What am I doing...?'

Both Goku and the boy stood on the opposite sides of the court, the boy readying himself to throw the ball.

Off to the side, Haruna, Risa, Mio, along with the rest of the tennis club watched

"Son-kun vs a little kid? He'll probably hold back don't you think?" Risa asked her two friends.

"Probably, but then again, he might be the type who doesn't hold back even against a kid." Mio replied.

"No. He won't..." The girls looked at Haruna in surprise when she spoke.

"What makes you say that Haruna?" The blonde of the trio asked.

"It's just that... Goku's eyes look different. Like he's worried about something."

"Worried?" The two looked towards the young man in question, and sure enough, they did notice that Goku's eyes looked sharper than usual. What was he thinking about? Did something happen to him?

Back to the two players at the court, the boy smiled at Goku as he spoke.

"Are ready?"

"Bring it!" Goku readied himself.

A devilish smile appeared on the boy's face as he threw ball into the air, and it was at that moment that Goku felt a huge spike in his energy.

*SMACK*

At an impossibly fast speed, the ball was served and flew towards Goku much to the shock of members present.

"So fast!" Risa exclaimed in shock.

"Goku look out!" Haruna yelled.

On the other hand, the boy merely raised his aura and as he readied himself.

"I don't think so!"

*SMACK*

The boy widened his eyes when Goku returned his serve and sent it flying back to him.

"Wow, you're not half-bad." The smile on his face widened. "Then that means I shouldn't hold back!"

*SMACK*

The boy returned with a swing that had an even greater amount of force than his previous. So much that Goku barely had time to react when he swung back.

*SMACK*

"Take this!"

*SMACK*

"Hah!"

*SMACK*

"Try again!"

*SMACK*

Back and forth, the members of the tennis club as a cycle of super powered swings were exchanged between the two, dust was kicking up from the sheer force and it even looked like the net itself was starting to fall apart as well as their nearby surroundings themselves.

'W-What's with this killing zone...!?' They all simultaneously thought. It would be suicide to get in between these two!

*CRASH*

They looked to see a crater forming just near Goku's spot, the young man having a shocked looked on his face.

'Damn, I actually missed it!' He looked back towards the boy who was directing a V-sign at him.

"Hahaha! Be grateful I didn't hit you with that!" He laughed cheerfully. "But still, you impressed by keeping up! You're pretty good."

"Uh... thanks I guess?"

Off to the side, the tennis club members watched with their mouths open in shock. Goku, the strongest athlete in their school, had just been beaten by a little kid!

Sure, his forte was Martial Arts, but the boy also easily grasped most sports taught to him. So seeing him being evenly matched and lose to a young kid was quite a shocker to say the least.

"Now then, I have something that I want to talk to you about. So why don't we head up to that roof over there?" The boy suggested as he began walking, motioning for Goku to follow him.

"Yeah, sure... whatever you say." Despite the boy being somewhat behaved now, Goku was still very wary of his presence as he followed him up to the rooftop of the school.

As they walked off, Haruna could not help but feel worried for Goku. She only hoped that he wouldn't get himself into trouble.

"Huh? Goku!"

"What the...? Lala? And Zastin too?"

Once Goku and the boy reached their destination, the young man was surprised to see both the pinkette and her bodyguard on the rooftop.

"Yo Lala!" Goku looked at the boy incredulously when he spoke with a deep voice, like for some reason puberty had hit at that moment.

And for some reason, he felt like he had heard that voice before.

"Eh?! Papa...!"

"Huh!? Did you just say Papa...!?" Goku demanded as his head swung back and forth looking between the two. "But he looks just like a kid...!"

"Not exactly Goku-dono." Zastin said as he knelt on the ground in front of the boy who was supposedly Lala's father. "His appearance maybe similar to that of a young child's, but he is without a doubt the King of the Galaxy; Gid Lucion Deviluke."

Seeing Zastin kneel was all it took for Goku to accept it as a fact, though he was still processing the King's appearance since he was expecting someone at least his size or taller and somewhat older looking.

"C'mon boy, can't you tell by my appearance that I'm an alien?" A tail similar to Lala's appeared from underneath his jacket, though it was shaped like a trident compared to the heart like shape that Lala's had.

"Wow... you really are an alien." Goku spoke. "You being Lala's dad explains all that power you showed earlier, I could barely keep up!"

"Hah! Be glad I was holding back! I could've destroyed you by accident you know!" Gid laughed at the young man in front of him.

'Somehow I don't doubt that...' Their little bout earlier was all it took to confirm to Goku that he was still no where near the level needed to stand up against Lala's father in a fair fight. He'd need to train at least for a few more years before that would happen.

"At any rate, I suspect you already know why I'm here don't you Lala?" Gid began. "My successor, in other words your husband-to-be has been formally decided."

Both Goku and Lala's eyes widened at that, the former most especially since Gid had told him about this upcoming event six months back.

"I've decided that I'm going to allow you to have Son Goku as your husband."

"H-Huh!? B-But why me...?" Goku asked. "I don't really know anything about ruling, so..."

"Well there have been some worries about letting an Earthling become my successor, but I've read reports of some of your actions and I have to say I was impressed with your performance earlier too. Not even my best soldiers can keep up with me while holding back. I think I can see why Lala likes you."

Goku flinched, unsure of what to say to Lala's father when he said that, and took a step back.

"And because of that, I was able to make my decision and honor Lala's wishes."

"My wishes?" Lala on the other hand had an uncertain look on her face while gazing at Goku momentarily before looking back to his father.

"Yeah! Aren't I a great father?" Gid laughed before looking back at Goku. "Good luck my successor! I'm counting on you."

"B-But that's so sudden..."

"Hmm? What's with that look on your face?" Gid asked as he eyed Goku while a frown appeared on his face as he noticed his troubled expression. "Don't tell me you're having second thoughts about the marriage?"

"I-It's not that...!" Goku began. He really liked Lala a lot, and the idea of marrying someone like her was quite enjoyable on its own.

'But right now...' He still had feelings for Haruna. He didn't exactly know how to deal with such feelings.

*CRACKLE*

Goku shielded himself with his arms when all of a sudden a burst of energy came from Gid as he was surrounded by an electrical aura.

"Just so you know, I'm holding back quite a bit of my power as we speak." Gid spoke in a low menacing tone. "If I wanted to, I could blow up this planet before you can even blink! I told you that if you fail to meet my expectations that I'd do it wouldn't I?"

The pinkette blinked at that before she widened her eyes in realization.

"D-Destroy the Earth...?" Lala began. "Papa! Would you actually do such a thing to Goku!? Were you blackmailing him!?"

"Tch!" Goku gritted his teeth. It looked like negotiations were about to break down. "I'd like to see you try!"

*CRACKLE*

Energy began surrounding Goku's form as well, and soon the school began trembling from their respective auras.

"Hoh? That's some impressive power you have right there." Gid commented as he watched Goku's aura flare. "But you're not even showing me your full power aren't you? Don't try to mock me, I could tell during our little bout. You're hiding a tremendous amount of power for someone your age... so show it to me!"

"Wha...?" Goku looked at Gid surprised. He could sense energy? He always thought that people on Earth were the only ones capable of doing such a thing. He shook his head from such thoughts and looked back at the King of the Galaxy.

"Papa! Goku! Would the two of you stop this!" Lala pleaded. She didn't want to see her father and Goku duke it out, especially here at the school of all places.

"Stay out of this Lala! Don't interfere with the two of us right now, I want to see this!" Gid exclaimed to his daughter, causing her to flinch. "The same goes to you too Zastin! Interfere, and you can kiss your job goodbye!"

"Y-Yes your majesty!" Zastin bowed and immediately distanced himself from his King, taking Lala with him as he did so.

Satisfied, the King turned back to Goku with a somewhat maniacal grin on his face.

"Now then Son Goku, I want you to show me your full power."

"If that's what you want...!" Goku's aura began bursting with even more energy. "Then that's what you'll get!"

Rubble and dirt from the floor tiles of the rooftop began rising up due to Goku's aura, the trembling from earlier becoming even more intense as Goku's aura began flickering like a golden flame.

Down below, several of the students that were still on campus began quivering in fear of the apparent earthquake.

"W-What's going on...!?" Risa and Mio cried out.

Haruna on the other hand, was somewhere between calm and frightened. The latter because of the shaking... but the former was because she felt as though she knew who was causing the trembling, but she had no idea what the cause behind the trembling itself was exactly.

"Goku...?"

Outside, a short distance away from the school, the Tenjouin group felt the ground shake as well.

"Waah! An earthquake!?" Both Saki and Aya held each other while the trembling went on.

"T-This is...!" Rin on the other hand was looking in the direction of the school.

"W-What's wrong Rin?" Saki inquired, noticing her bodyguard's expression. It was as though she had seen a ghost.

"This trembling... all of it's from Son-san's power!"

"W-What!? Why is he doing this then and how...!?" The blonde demanded.

"I don't know... but I suspect something is going on at the school." Rin replied, wanting to check things out at the school, but with the level of power being released by the young man, it was beyond her league.

"So he's transforming into a Super Saiyan is he?"

Pan spoke to herself as she drank some tea from atop the Son home's rooftop, watching the golden light being emitted from Goku's school.

She was slightly worried for her Grandson as all grandmothers would for the safety of their grandchildren, but worrying about it never brought any good. That, and she wanted Goku Jr. to solve his own problems rather than rely on others to help him solve it.

"Good luck, but get yourself hurt and I'll hit you on the head."

"HAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

Goku's aura exploded with a golden light blinding all but Gid who watched the event before him with surprise. He had not expected this at all, from an Earthling no less.

When Lala and Zastin opened their eyes, they both looked at the direction of the boy and widened their eyes in shock as they saw his new form.

The young man's hair was golden in color same as his aura, and his eyes were a pure emerald. He eyes also looked sharper than usual, as though he was a seasoned warrior who fought in many battles.

"W-What is this...!?" Zastin watched in awe of the scene. He knew the young man was powerful, being able to tangle with Golden Darkness rather easily. But this was something beyond even his own expectations of the young man.

"Is that... Goku?" Lala inquired, being in awe as well of what had just occurred.

Gid on other hand looked somewhere being shocked and being ecstatic. The former because he recognized this form from somewhere. He remembered it vaguely being similar to a legend spoken by his grandfather long ago, about an extinct race from over a century ago. The latter because standing in front of him was a very powerful young man. Not as powerful as him, but still more than compared to most beings in the galaxy these days.

"Well then, are you happy? I'll admit that it took longer than what I'm used to since I haven't transformed in a while because I focused on training my normal form." Goku spoke, and those present noted that his tone of speech also became somewhat different. It had a more aggressive feel to it.

"Quite so actually." Gid smirked. "I do have a question for you. Are you really human?"

"Yes and no. I'm mostly human, but I have alien blood running in my veins." Goku replied.

"Right, and your alien race is...?"

"I'm a Saiyan." Goku replied once more, and that was all that was needed for Gid to confirm his thoughts.

"Hahahaha! What a day!" He laughed to himself. "To think I found myself choosing a Saiyan of all things as my successor! And you're even a Super Saiyan to boot!"

"You know about Super Saiyans?" Goku asked curiously.

"It's a legend that my grandpa told me when I was a kid. Not many people talk about it these days since Saiyans are extinct after all." Gid replied as a smirk grew on his face once more. "Still, the fact that you're one changes a lot of what I think about you right now, Son Goku..."

"So... what happens now? Do we fight and you destroy the Earth after you kill me? Or do we just stare each other down until one of us blinks?" The Saiyan fighter asked as he and Gid continued with the latter.

"Hmm? You don't seem like you intend to win. Why is that?" Gid asked.

"I maybe an idiot when it comes to school, but I know when I'm beat. Right now, I wouldn't stand a chance against you... even after going Super Saiyan."

"Yet you're still willing to fight?"

"That's right. Even if I do get killed, at least I'll go out swinging."

Gid took in Goku's words, and kept noting the young Saiyan's power level. Given enough time, he could probably surpass him within a few short years, perhaps even less.

"Well, I suppose we should end this little farce." He said, his aura dropping much to Goku, Lala, and Zastin's surprise.

"W-What are you doing? Weren't you going to destroy the Earth?"

"And how exactly do you expect me to do that when he's up there watching us?" Gid replied while pointing his finger upwards.

Looking up, Goku widened his eyes in surprise when he saw another figure floating above them. From what he could make out, the figure had a male appearance and wore white cape with large pauldrons over a purple martial arts Gi tied with a blue sash. He also had a matching turban to his outfit. What was most striking about his appearance was the fact that he had green skin and pointed ears.

'Who's that...!?' Goku didn't even feel his presence, but now that he did, the person above them had a power far above Lala's father.

"I didn't think you'd notice me." The figure asked when he landed on the ground close to the group.

"Please, with your power level, you're basically a bonfire compared to a candle like me and a match stick like him.

'A match stick...!?' Goku thought incredulously. Weaker than him or not, that was just insulting.

"So tell me... What's a Namekian doing here on Earth of all places? Especially one as strong as you?"

"The name's Piccolo, and the Earth happens to be my home." He stated with his arms crossed. "And I don't take kindly to those who threaten to destroy it or hurt its people. Especially when they threaten the child of a family friend."

"Family friend..." Goku began thinking before a flash of brilliance crossed his mind. "Wait, you're the guy my Grandma was talking about, wasn't she?"

"Nice to finally meet you kid. You resemble your ancestors in more ways than you think, and that's not counting the face or hair." Piccolo stated while directing a smile at Goku, causing the young man to flinch at the suddenness.

"Uh... thanks I think." The young man nodded in respect, somewhat at a loss of words.

"A Namekian who's family friends with a Saiyan family." Gid mused. "What are the chances?"

"So Gid Lucion Deviluke... what shall we do next?" Piccolo asked as he stood his ground against the King of the Galaxy.

"That depends on the boy." Gid spoke. "But like him, I'm not stupid enough to pick a fight with someone far stronger than I am. If I'm forced, I'll probably go out swinging too."

Goku blinked in surprise at Gid's statement, his Super Saiyan form dissipating as he did so. He was not expecting him to be admit to such a thing, perhaps he judged him too soon because of his threat?

"Papa!"

The trio looked over to Lala who began walking towards Goku and stood beside him.

"If you really are trying to force Goku into the marriage..." She paused for a moment. "Then I won't marry him!"

"What!? But I thought he had your favor! I even went out of my way to respect your wishes too!" Gid exclaimed.

"No you don't. You just want Goku to succeed you because you want to play around right?"

"Ack!" Gid flinched at that, and Goku's image of a tyrannical King disappeared and was completely replaced with the image of a lazy but powerful king. In hindsight, given Lala's personality, he probably should've expected something similar given his experience with her.

"Even if Goku does agree to marry me, if it's because we forced him to then it won't make me happy!"

"Lala..." The young man was somewhat touched by her words and the consideration of his own feelings.

"Goku, even if I tell you how much I like you, I know that your real feelings aren't for me." Goku flinched at that as he saw Gid glaring rather maniacally at him.

"You what!? Have you been leading my daughter on!?"

"No! It's not like that...!"

An irresponsible father Gid Lucion Deviluke was most of the time, but a father he was through and through. And he cared for, in his own way, for his wife and daughters.

"But even so, I want to make you be able to look at me the same way I look at you." Lala smiled at Goku, causing the young man to blush slightly at her action.

"So please Papa... I want to hold off the wedding a little longer."

Gid looked at his daughter silently for a few moments, before giving off a tired sigh.

"Fine. I'll give you what you want." Lala looked genuinely surprised, not expecting her father to comply with her wishes. "Besides, if I don't do it your mother won't let me hear the end of it."

Gid then turned back to look at Goku while pointing a finger at him.

"You hear that boy? The wedding's going to be held off for a while longer." He said. "You've caught yourself a lucky break today."

"Thank you." Goku tried showing some respect by bowing to him. "For at least not blowing up the Earth right away anyway!"

Gid rolled his eyes at that. For all the boy's power, he still had the decency to be respectful and polite. He didn't know if he should be praising Goku or hitting him on the head for acting in such a way.

It was at that moment that another thought came to him.

"Now that I think about it, there is one task I would want you to do Son Goku." Gid began as the young man looked at him in curiosity as did the others.

"W-What is it...? You're not going to make me kill a hundred people to satisfy your expectations of me are you?" Goku asked, shivering at the last part.

"Wait, what? No! I'm the King of a Galaxy, doing that would be barbaric unless they shoot first." Gid huffed. "No, the task I want you to do is far different from that. I just want you to fight against someone who's coming here to participate in that World Tournament of yours."

"The Tournament? Who is it then?"

"You'll find out soon. Once you get a good look at him that is. He'll be the one you'll face if you make it to the finals." Gid smirked as he turned back and began walking.

"He's that strong?"

"I'd say he's just above you in strength, but not much." The King replied without facing him. "But like you, he's a prodigy. He'll give you one hell of a fight if you don't watch it. If your fight with him impresses me enough, then I'll reconsider my words about blowing up the Earth."

"Really Papa? You'll really promise that you won't do it?" Lala asked.

"Yeah yeah, so quit giving me that face!" He faced his daughter. "Like I said, I make you cry, your mother gives me hell."

'What kind of person is Lala's mother...?' Goku wondered to himself.

"Now then, I'll be taking my leave."

"Allow me to escort you back to Deviluke my King." Zastin spoke and quickly went towards Gid. Soon, a beam enveloped them both and they shot up into the sky.

Goku gave a sigh of relief, the current situation was averted for now.

"Heh, looks like you managed to impress him enough to give you a second chance." Piccolo stated as the young man turned to look at him.

"Uh... Piccolo right?" Goku began. "How long have you known my Grandma?"

"Ever since she was a baby." The Namekian replied. "I used to be enemies with your great ancestor Goku before I ended up becoming a mentor to his first son, Gohan, when two aliens came to invade the Earth a century back. After that debacle, we fought beside each other against more foes before I eventually considered him and his son my closest friends."

"Oh, I see." Goku nodded. So Piccolo had lived that long huh? He wondered to himself how many more people who knew his great ancestor still lived.

"If you don't mind, I'll be taking my leave." Piccolo said as he turned his back on Goku, but not before directing one last look at the boy.

"I'll be seeing you at the tournament. If we end up fighting, then give me everything you've got."

It took a few moments for his mind to register what Piccolo had said, before nodding vigorously.

"I will! You can count on it!"

Smirking, Piccolo took off, leaving both Goku and Lala by themselves.

An awkward silence passed by for a moment between the two, the events from earlier still fresh in their minds.

"Lala..."

"Y-Yes...?" The girl stuttered in surprise.

"Let's head home. I bet Grandma is making her special stew!" He extended his hand towards her.

Smiling at that, Lala grabbed onto Goku's arm as cheerfully always.

"Yeah! Let's~!"

It was the end of a very troublesome day...

Inside the bridge of a spaceship, both Froze and Breis watched the Earth as they hovered over its orbit.

"I see. So even Gid Lucion Deviluke was impressed by him was he?"

"Yes Sire, does that trouble you?"

"No, in fact it pleases me." Froze smirked. "If he managed to impress even the King of Deviluke, then that would mean that his power is indeed tremendous. Perhaps it even surpasses my own. And the same could probably be also said about Vegeta. His name alone tells me everything I need to know."

"I don't see how that's possible Sire, you're a born prodigy! None could possibly stand against you!"

"Perhaps... But the same could be said about my ancestor, and he was defeated by the same Saiyan twice." Froze replied, and that caused Breis to go silent. "There will always be other prodigies like myself in this universe Breis. It's just a matter of how many of us are still around in this age of peace."

"Besides, taking on this Goku and Vegeta are chances I simply cannot pass up." He said. "The two of them are descended from the two Saiyans that humiliated my ancestor whose strength was supposedly the strongest in the universe other than Majin Buu and the God of Destruction himself at the time. Their strength would provide quite the satisfying entertainment for me once I get there."

When he began laughing, Breis felt a drop of sweat run down his face.

"Are you truly serious in entering this earthling tournament Sire?" Breis asked. "I am not questioning your desire, I only worry for your safety as your servant."

"Of course. What better way to test my strength than against these two?" Froze replied once more.

At that point, a somewhat wicked smile formed on his face.

"After all, it's not every day that you get to fight against a Super Saiyan."

Author's Note:

Finally done with Gid's entry! From what you've all read, Gid is more reasonable compared to his manga counterpart, mostly because he was impressed with Goku's power and wants to see how far he'll go. That, and we've only seen him at least twice in person in the manga and that's not counting flashbacks. So I decided to fill out his character more.

Also, Goku goes Super Saiyan for the first time in the story! And Piccolo makes his second appearance with Master Roshi making a short appearance too! And Froze being a Blood Knight!

Next time, the World Tournament shall finally be underway. New characters are introduced as the fighters shall compete against each other in earning the ultimate title of "Strongest under the Heavens"

Signing off!
