AN: Finally been able to gather enough free time to write this down! Now I have a three month vacation before College starts again, meaning I have all the time in the world to catch up on lost time regarding the story.
This chapter is mostly a meet and greet with the actual tournament starting at the end. All submitted OCs appear in this chapter one way or another, named or not named.
I also took down both author's note since they no longer have any use.
On with the story!
Chapter 11: The 67th Tenkaichi Budokai
"You like that?"
That morning, Goku had been doing his usual chore of watering Celine, who seemed very happy at the action while she was eating a giant bowl of instant noodles. He kept wondering again and again on how, by the law of the universe, a giant plant can eat instant noodles on a daily basis.
Then again, she was an alien plant, so maybe logic didn't really apply?
The first year of school was now over, and a week had passed since Lala's father had visited and left the Earth. Although he was relieved that everything went smooth enough, he was still wondering on who was the person that Gid wanted him to fight against in the World Tournament.
'I wonder how strong this guy is? If Lala's dad thinks I might be able to beat him, then are we an even match?'
The only people that Goku knew could defeat him in a straight up fight would've been his grandmother, Piccolo, judging from his power, and probably the elder members of the Majin Clan. He heard that they were long lived, so perhaps one of them knew his ancestor as well?
Aside from them, the only other person who could rival Goku in pure power would've been Vegeta since among both of their relatives, they were the only ones who had managed to achieve the Super Saiyan transformation after all. Though, if he was right, then maybe he should add Beat and Note to that list as he remembered their words about having mastered the "ultimate technique" the other day.
'Well, even if I can't beat this guy, at least Piccolo will be around to take care of things...' He felt reassured that at least someone as powerful as the Namekian warrior would be able to handle Lala's father.
'Still, as a man, I have to solve this myself. I can't let other people solve my problems for me!' Goku thought, resolving to defeat the alien fighter that was going to participate in the tournament himself.
"Goku! It's time to leave!" He heard his sister calling out to him.
"Huh? Oh right!"
Speaking of the tournament, it was finally here!
"Wow~! There are so many people here!"
Walking amidst a crowd was the group of Goku, Lala, Pan, Mikan, Saiba, and Zastin. The group having taken a plane to arrive at Papaya island, the birthplace of the Tenkaichi Budokai. And like every tournament before it, a great many people came in attendance to witness the upcoming spectacular event where fighters would test their skill upon one another to see who would stand above all.
"Indeed. I know that tournaments such as these are popular on other worlds, but I never expected so many people to have gathered." Zastin noted.
"That's because you've never seen a good old-fashion throw down the way we earthlings do it!" Saiba laughed at his manga apprentice. "You should've seen the one from two years ago. Now that was a gathering!"
"Speaking of which," Goku spoke out. "I didn't think you'd find the time to be able to watch the tournament. I thought you'd had that deadline you had to submit in the next three days?"
"Yeah well I still have two days to spare." Saiba replied. "And Zastin's boys offered to take care of things while the two us go on and watch."
As the two spoke with each other, Lala herself was busy moving about her surroundings.
"Lala-sama, I'm detecting quite a few dozen powerful energy signatures." Peke said. "Most of them even surpass Zastin-dono's power level. It seems that Earth is a sort of breeding place for powerful warriors."
"You think?" Lala asked. "Well there is Goku, then there's Granny Pan-Whoa! Who are they~?"
Hearing the pinkette's cry of curiosity, Mikan turned her head to see what she was looking at. There stood about three people putting on a show for the attendees that day.
Only these three were not human at all. Having tentacle like appendages on their heads and pink skin, their limbs and body being extended and twisted in a way that showed off their elasticity.
"Ah, they're part of the Majin clan."
"Majin? I think I've heard something about that before." Lala quipped as she applauded the three Majin that were performing. "Are they alien? I don't think I've encountered anything like them before."
"I think so... but who knows?" Mikan replied. "As far as I remember, the Majin Clan lived on Earth for over a century now. We don't really know where they came from, but during an invasion a few years back, they helped us defend the Earth and that was enough for most people to consider them as earthlings."
"An invasion...?" Hearing this, Zastin quickly went towards the two. "This is the first time I'm hearing about any this regarding Earth. Do tell."
"Now now, that's enough of that dreary talk." Pan spoke up from behind the trio. "There'll be enough time to talk about old stories after the tournament. Right now, Goku needs to sign up if he even wants to enter the championship."
"Well it's not like we're in a hurry or anything right? We still have until this afternoon before registration ends." Goku quipped with a laid back expression on his face. "But then again I suppose you're right. Wouldn't want to miss out on the action after all."
"Ah! Goku, over here!"
Hearing a familiar voice cry out, the young man turned his head who it was that was calling out to him, and he smiled when recognized the person and her companions beside her.
"Haruna-chan! I'm glad you guys made it." Goku said as he went over to the blue-haired girl. Beside her were none other than Risa, Mio, and Saruyama.
"Of course, we wouldn't miss this for anything!" Saruyama exclaimed as he and Goku did a high-five.
"Look at all the people here. I never expected a martial arts competition to get so much attention." Risa commented as she looked around.
"Well do try to put on a show for the people after all." Goku responded to her comment as he eyed both her and Mio. "That said, I didn't think you'd two would come along."
"Hmm? What's the matter Son-kun? Are you annoyed that we decided to play third and fourth wheel to your moment with Haruna-chi?"
"W-What!?" Both he and Haruna blushed lightly at that, though the boy failed to notice the latter's reaction. "N-No! I just thought people like you would have better things to do than just watching people fight each other."
"Oh, is that what it is?" Risa pulled out a sheet of paper from out of nowhere. On it, were a list of names.
"Uh... is that a-?"
"Yep! It's a list of names for the people from our school who'll be betting on you to win against those who think you'll lose. I'm here with Mio as official witnesses to your matches." Risa smiled cheekily. "So try not to lose alright? A lot of people are placing their allowances on you in hopes that you'll win."
Goku face faulted to the ground at that. He didn't need pressure like that on the back of his mind!
"Well, well, the fights haven't even started yet and already you're kissing the dirt."
Goku flinched at that. There was only one person he knew that had a voice filled with arrogance like that.
"Vegeta, as always you're jokes need a little work." The young man said as he stood up, looking to see Vegeta, Bloom, and their mother Bulma standing in front of him. "You ready for the big time?"
"Oh I'm ready. Ready to win that is." Vegeta smirked, as did Goku before the latter's expression turned into one of confusion as the former held up a hand.
"Just so you know you still owe me a few zenni for letting you train at our place."
"Seriously!?"
"Nii-san." The former quickly retracted said hand when he felt a sinister aura directed at the center of his very being.
"Hello Goku-san." Bloom waved with a smile.
"Hey there Bloom, Leigh-san." He bowed in respect to the latter causing the blue-haired woman to giggle slightly.
"Come on now Goku. I've told you before to just call me Bulma remember? You've become too formal these days." She smiled at him before directing a smirk at her own son who noticed this.
"Well, at least when compared to Vegeta, you still have some manners. Maybe you can teach him a thing or two about being polite." Bulma said, causing Vegeta to merely huff in response towards his mother's words and turned away.
"Hmph. I can be polite when I want to."
"And when was the last time you were ever polite?" Bloom asked, causing Vegeta's expression to fault slightly. The Son and Leigh group got good laugh from this, and it was at that moment that the young girl noticed Goku's companions. She recognized Mikan, Saiba, and Pan, nodding in acknowledgement to their presence, but she didn't recognize the other people he was with, especially the pink-haired beauty who... had a tail growing from her behind?
"Um... I take it you're Goku-san's friends?"
Haruna was the first to respond to the girl's question as she went up and bowed in respect.
"Hello there, I'm Sairenji Haruna. I'm a classmate of Goku, it's nice to meet you." She then gestured to her two female companions. "This Risa and the one with glasses is Mio."
"Hi, I'm Bloom Leigh. It's nice to " Bloom did the same and bowed in respect, remembering proper courtesy. She noted that the three girls before her along with that pink-haired girl were all quite attractive. Just what kind of school did Goku go to?
Before she could think any further, a voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Hi there! The name's Saruyama!" The male friend of Goku quickly went up towards the blue-haired girl who as taken aback by the suddenness of the action.
Goku could only lay a hand on his head and sighed. This wasn't going to end well for Saruyama considering who was here together with Bloom.
"Your kinda cute! Wanna be my friend? Maybe you and I can go on a date? After that we should start calling each other honey and dar-"
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING TO MY SISTER!?"
*BAM*
"Guargh!" Saruyama was quickly sent flying into a tree by a punch from Vegeta. He didn't even stop there, as there was another tree behind the first one. Then another, and then another, so on and so forth.
At the end of the day, Vegeta sent Saruyama flying through 30 palm trees. Though no one from the group looked that concerned for him.
"Geez that guy," Goku sighed once more. "I keep telling him that trying to flirt with a girl in the presence of her older brother would result in him getting hit. It's basically already become a guy rule."
"Hmph! It'll be a cold day in hell before I let an idiot like that touch my sister." Vegeta crossed his arms and turned away.
The rest laughed merely laughed at this, while Bloom looked somewhat bemused by what had happened. It really wasn't the first time a boy tried asking her out on a date or as forward with her as the one Vegeta had punched. More like it was the fact that she lost count on how many boys had did so and were sent flying as a result by her brother.
It was at that moment that she noticed a certain pinkette approaching her.
"Hello! I'm Lala, I'm living with Goku at his house right now!" The pinkette quickly went up towards Bloom and shook both of her hands together.
"Ah! So you're the person that Mikan's been telling me about." Bloom replied in surprise. When she heard an alien was staying over at her friend's house, she expected her to look a little more different. She didn't realize that the only thing that made her out to be an alien was the tail swinging about on Lala's behind.
'Wait a minute... then does that mean the thing about the fiancee thing is real then!?'
"Hey, I heard you like to experiment with machines. Is it true?" Lala asked with stars in her eyes, causing to flinch back at the suddenness of the action.
"Eh? Well, it's more like a hobby really..." Bloom replied, her thoughts still centered around the fiancee bit regarding Lala.
"Hobby nothing. I still remember that one time you transformed the limousine engine into what was basically a rocket engine. Mr. Clarence was puking in a bucket as he stepped out. Now that was hilarious." Vegeta smirked at his sister who merely glared back at him annoyed.
"I was only a little kid back then! I didn't know that it was going to be that bad!"
"Say, do you think after this is all over you and I can trade ideas and help each other out with experiments~?" Lala asked, ignoring the exchange of words between siblings. Seeing the confused look on Bloom's face, Goku stepped in and explained.
"Lala likes to invent and mess around with machines a lot. She's basically like you, only she's from outer space." He quipped.
"Ah, I see." Bloom nodded in response and smiled at Lala. "Well if you want, then I'm sure we could do that."
"Really!? Thanks~!" Lala cheered happily. It wasn't every day that she'd encountered someone with similar hobbies to her own. This would be a good experience for her to better familiarize herself with Earth Technology with Bloom doing the same with Devilukean Tech.
Goku smiled as he watched Lala and Bloom getting along. It was good thing since they both liked tech.
"Hey Goku!"
Hearing a rather familiar voice call out to him, Goku smiled as he turned around saw a rather plump older looking boy waving at him.
"Puck!" He quickly went over to his old friend. "It's been a while, how have you been!"
"Pretty good my friend, pretty good." Puck replied as he and Goku shook hands pulled each other into a brief man-hug. "I figured that you'd be entering the tournament this year. Looks like I was right." He said as he looked over his friend wearing his martial arts Gi.
"I'll say. I've been waiting forever for this tournament to start! Can't wait for the preliminaries to begin." Goku replied with a fist pumped up.
"Hah! Look at you. Feels like it was only yesterday that you were a crybaby who didn't like to fight and now you're one of the most badass guys around." Puck noted while chuckling slightly. "I also see you haven't cut that spiky hairdo of yours."
"Hey, it's style. Who else but me has hair like this?" The other boy replied before smirking as he gave a brief tap to his friend's stomach. "Well I can see that you've been exercising... Coach Zang still giving you the heat?"
"Hey!" Goku snickered at Puck's expense. At that moment, Lala and the rest went over towards them.
"Hey Goku, introduce why don't you?" She said with curiosity in her eyes, it seemed like this boy and Goku knew each other.
"Huh? Oh right!" Goku quickly nodded as he slung an arm over Puck's shoulder. "This here is Puck. He and I were friends since we were kids."
"Is that right~? Then allow me to introduce myself. I'm Lala, I'm living at Goku's house right now!" She smiled at the older boy.
Puck himself however was taken aback by how pretty Lala was and the fact that someone like her was living together with Goku.
"Wait, since when did you start living together with a hot babe like this?" He quietly asked his friend as he pulled him close. "You been holding out on me or something or are you just that popular?"
"Wait, what? No! It's not like that!" Goku retorted. "To sum it all up..."
It took Goku a full minute to explain his situation to his old friend who began to understand everything.
"Ah, I see." Puck nodded to himself. "An alien princess... why am I not surprised?"
"Maybe because you and I went up against that witch lady from before when we went looking for my Grandpa Goku's Dragon Ball?"
"Nah, doesn't count. She was a witch lady, not an alien. Completely different things."
"Point taken." The young fighter nodded.
"Come on Goku! I thought you wanted to enter the tournament?"
Hearing his grandmother's voice calling out to him, Goku and Puck saw that their group had already started to move on without them, causing the two boys to quicken their pace in order to catch up.
"Huh? Ah! Goku-nii!"
After reaching the registration area with the rest of his companions, Goku saw three familiar faces waiting for them at said spot with one of them calling out to him.
"Hey there Note! Glad you two made it!" He called out to his two cousins. They were accompanied by none other than Master Roshi himself. The elder man gave a warm greeting of his own at familiar faces, as well giving lecherous passes at both Risa and Mio, both of whom responded with fists to the elder man's face.
"Hey! If it isn't good old Puck!" Beat smiled as he went over to Goku and Puck.
"Beat, my man!" The latter said as the two boys shook hands. "Ready for your big debut on the world stage?"
"Ready, willing, and able." The former replied. "Watch out Goku-nii, because I won't be making it easy on you when we fight!"
"Glad to hear it." Goku smiled in response.
On the girls side...
"Note-chan! It's been a while~!" Bloom went up to her friend and both held hands.
"Um! It has. I was expecting that you'd be entering the tournament this year just like us." Note replied with a smile before turning into a teasing smirk. "Just so you know, I don't plan on losing to a tech geek like you!"
"Ohoho?" Bloom's eyebrows twitched and an annoyed smile appeared on her face. "We'll see who wins. Brawns aren't the only thing needed to win a battle you know. You'd need Brains too, not that I'd expect that from a gorilla girl like you. Ehehe~"
A collective whisper of awe came from the group as they looked back and forth between Note and Bloom. One could see various vein marks appearing on the former girl's head as she was called a "gorilla girl" by the latter.
*SNAP*
"Who are you calling a brainless gorilla girl you tech geek!?"
"Who do you think!? And stop calling me a tech geek!"
"Oh? Are you insulted by that name your flatness~?"
"Your flatness!? We're about the same size!"
"No were not! I've gone up a cup this past year!"
"What!? You're lying!"
Sparks of lightning emanated from their eyes as they glared at each other. It would have been suicide to enter the fray at that moment.
Off to the side, the others were merely laughing at this scene. Vegeta on the other hand face palmed while Goku, Beat, and Puck looked on with raised eyebrows.
"Chick fight." The latter of the trio said. "Wanna bet who wins?"
"Nah, chick fights between these two never end when they get going." Beat replied.
"They really are close friends aren't they?" Goku cheerfully noted. "You can really tell by the smile on their faces as they argue."
"That aside, how did an insult about brains and brawn turn into a pissing match about who's got the bigger rack?" Vegeta mumbled, clearly embarrassed by his younger sister's bout of immaturity.
'It's not like you or Goku are any different...' Mikan mentally noted. One could see that both Bloom and Vegeta were indeed related by way of the fact that they like to insult people they view as good rivals and friends. Though this time it was started by her cousin Note.
With Haruna, Risa and Mio...
"Is it always so lively with these guys?" Risa stated, but was smiling as she watched Bloom and Note argue.
"With Goku, I think it is." Haruna replied. Though for some reason, she felt very distant from Goku. Most likely it was because other than the person she became friends with at school, she didn't really know this side of his life other than what he had told her in the past.
Ironically, Lala told her that she must've known Goku quite well. When compared to Lala's length time knowing the young fighter, then there was truth in those words. But now though...
"Haruna?" Mio looked at her friend curiously when she saw that she was spacing out.
"Eh? Ah! I-It's nothing." The bluenette quickly replied.
"Master Roshi!"
It was at that moment that two people came forward wearing the turtle school uniform. One of them was a white Majin who looked rather skinny and fat at the same time. The other one however...
"Ren-chan!?" Lala exclaimed in surprise, clearly not expecting to see Ren at the tournament, specifically not expecting to see him at the tournament wearing a martial arts Gi.
"Ah, Lala-chan~" The boy quickly knelt in front of her. "As always your beauty is radiant that it nearly blinds me."
"Then wear sunglasses you dope." Goku deadpanned as the rest snickered while Ren glared at him. "Since when were you a student of the Turtle Hermit School?"
"Hmph!" Ren crossed his arms, smirking. "Ever since our first battle with each other over six months ago!"
"Is that right?" Goku cringed as he remembered a certain event that he wished he could forget completely. "Wait, you're not planning on entering the tournament are you?"
"Of course I do! Who do you think I am? Do you think that I, Ren Elise Jewelria, would not participate in such a manly event as this one? Are you afraid that you would lose and so hoped that I wouldn't enter?" He boasted, doing rather dramatic and flamboyant posing in the process.
"Can I punch him? Please tell me I can punch him." Vegeta asked Goku while eyeing Ren with a raised eyebrow. Normally he'd just punch anyone who annoyed the heck out of him, but since the annoyance was being directed towards his rival, he wasn't really sure if he should do so or let Goku have the honor.
"He must've hit his head or something when he was born." Bloom deadpanned, with both Beat and Note nodding in agreement. Even they couldn't take Ren seriously, and they were supposed to be the younger brats who are far more confident in their strength compared to Goku and Vegeta.
Goku on the other hand merely looked towards Master Roshi for confirmation regarding Ren's entry.
"It's his choice. Personally, I think he's still way behind on his training. But he became so adamant on entering the moment he heard that you were going to yourself." Roshi explained. "So try taking it easy on the boy. Or just beat the crap out of him. Either way works for me since he'll realize how outclassed he is."
"Oh alright." Goku sighed before turning to look at the white Majin who had accompanied Ren. "So who's this?"
"That's Abra. He's one of the Majin Students that signed up with me a few months back." Roshi replied. "Remember your manners Abra and introduce yourself."
"Yo!" Abra exclaimed, a youthful voice filled with vigor and energy. "I'm Abra! I'm going home with that championship belt around my waist when this is all said and done!"
"Aw, isn't he adorable~?" Lala and the Sainan girls cried out. Abra merely fidgeted from the attention and turned away, causing the girls to giggle.
Goku chuckled at that, before realizing something about the boy's words. "Wait, you're fighting too? How old are you?"
"Age doesn't matter when it comes to the Majin." The Turtle Hermit once again explained as the others looked at him. "They age differently compared to humans, with some maturing faster than others while some take years to grow up. Because of that, the Majin are allowed to compete at any age."
"Really? I guess you learn something new every once in a while after all." Goku nodded his head before looking at Abra. "If we fight, let's have a good match alright?"
"Yeah!" The young Majin nodded, who, oddly enough, had a certain shine in his eyes.
"Achoo!"
*POOF*
"Ah geez..." Goku scratched the back of his head at the familiar sound of Ren sneezing. Ever since it was revealed, Lala would sometimes sprinkle pepper or dust on the boy's nose to see his female counterpart, Run.
"Whoa! He really did turn into a girl!" He could hear Risa and Mio's voices exclaim. When he looked, he saw that Run was now standing there slightly annoyed at Lala for calling her out to demonstrate her ability to change genders to Haruna and the others.
It looked like even Vegeta and the rest were quite surprised by this judging from their expressions. Not that he could blame them, even he was quite shocked when he discovered that Ren could change genders on a whim and even have their own separate personas.
"Goku-kun~!"
"Hey there, Run." He merely replied as the girl tried tackled him with a hug. Being prepared for it due to past encounters since their first meeting, as well as being somewhat used to Lala's own tackles, Goku stood his ground as the green haired beauty latched onto him.
"It's been a while hasn't it~?"
"Uh... yeah. Is your brother seriously planning on entering the tournament?" The young fighter asked. "I mean, it's his choice, but come on."
"Ugh... I've been telling stupid Ren the same thing over and over again." Run sighed. "But he's been so stubborn about it for a while now that I can't do anything about it."
Goku internally groaned. Ever since he found out that Ren was actually two persons in one body, he became somewhat hesitant to hit him like he always did when the white haired boy became quite annoying nowadays due to the fact that if he hits Ren then he'd be hitting Run as well.
"Anyway~" Run began in a somewhat flirtatious tone. "How about we go get something to eat later after you finish signing up? We still have some time before the preliminaries begin."
"Sure, why not?" Goku replied before calling out to the others. "Hey everyone! Run suggested that we get something to eat after we signed up, you all in?"
"Yeah!" The group exclaimed as Run sighed in disappointment. Truly, the boy was somewhat dense.
Off to the side, Puck and Beat watched the two with blank stares on their faces.
'When the heck did Goku become so lucky with girls? Life isn't fair.'
'First Lala-san and now this person? I've got to know Goku-nii's secret.'
"Hmm? Oh! Well if it isn't Son-kun!"
"Huh? Tenjouin-san?"
When he and the others reached the cafeteria, they quickly saw that one part of said area was, to say the least, privatized by the group of Saki Tenjouin and her two companions, Rin Kujou and Ayako Fujisaki.
"Hey there~! If it isn't Saki!" Lala greeted.
"Good day to you Lala-san." The blonde smiled in response. "We haven't seen each other all that much since the Christmas Party remember?"
"Yeah, that was a lot of fun! Let's have a get together like that again soon wouldn't you say?"
"Indeed. It seems that the two of you have quite an entourage with you today." Saki noted the presence of the people surrounding Goku and Lala as they entered the cafeteria. It was at that moment that she noticed a particular person, one that wore a skeletal themed armor.
"Y-You are...!" A light blush appeared on the girl's face as she looked at Zastin.
At that, Goku looked back and forth between the two in slight confusion. They knew each other?
"Hmm?" Zastin looked at Saki, thinking for a few moments before remembering her. "Ah, you're that girl whose car got stuck in a ditch the other day right? My apologies for not recognizing you right away. Anyway, I wanted to cheer on Goku-dono during the tournament, which is why I am here."
At that moment Goku was pulled by Saki close to her so they could have a private chat.
"Son-kun, you know that person?" She asked. "Who is he? Where did he come from? What are his favorite things to do? Does he have someone in mind?"
"Whoa whoa whoa! Slow down a bit." The boy responded as the blonde settled down somewhat. "You know Lala's an alien from space right?"
"Yes of course, everyone in school knows it." She replied as she let her grip on the boy go.
Lala being an alien wasn't really much of a secret anymore thanks to Risa and Mio spreading the news a day after Haruna's birthday. Goku was completely taken back by how casually everyone in school accepted this little fact. Perhaps it had something to do with Lala being a good person and being beautiful? People were rather simple minded like that though he wasn't one to judge.
"Well to put it simply, Lala's an alien princess and Zastin is her bodyguard here."
"Oh, now that explains a lot." Saki nodded in understanding. "No wonder someone as magnificent as that person is here on Earth."
"Magnificent?" Exaggeration wasn't enough to describe the way Saki had described Zastin. Especially so since he already knew what the man was like personally.
"Anyway, it looks like you and Fujisaki-san are here to cheer on Kujou-san." He looked at Rin who merely greeted him with a smile and nod, one that the young fighter returned.
"But of course! As my bodyguard and friend, I have the duty to cheer on for her." She said before a smirk developed on her face. "Well, not like she needs it. Rin will win the day after all. Ohohoho!"
"We'll see about that." The young fighter merely chuckled the blonde's laugh. "Good luck to us both, wouldn't you say Kujou-san?"
"Indeed. May the two of us face each other in the finals." Rin replied as she sipped on some tea. As Goku went to sit together with his family and friends.
"Hmm? Wait, is that the Leigh family I see with you?" The blonde said, as she recognized the three members of said family who already had taken seats at a table.
"I was wondering when you'd notice us." Bulma replied. "I didn't expect to see you here today Saki."
"The same to you Bulma-san. Good day to you, and to you as well Bloom-san." The girl replied.
"It's been a while since I last saw you Saki-san. How are things with the Tenjouin?"
"Oh, this and that. Father invests in a lot of projects as usual trying to one-up Capsule Corp in terms of sheer fortune." She smiled embarrassed at mentioning her father's name, as did Bulma and Bloom.
Ryugen Tenjouin was something of a competitive sort when it came to anything. When he entered the world of business and enterprising, the first thing he did was raise the Tenjouin Family's already vast fortune into even greater heights. It came to the point that the Tenjouin's were now the third richest family in the world, right behind the Leigh and Son families, though it wouldn't be long until they surpassed the latter.
"Well at any rate, give your father my regards when you see him again." Bulma began. "I haven't seen him in a while since he didn't attend that New Year's party that I threw. I even sent him an invitation."
"Ah, he actually apologizes for that. He had business to attend to that day so he couldn't attend any parties."
It was at that moment that Vegeta actually noticed Saki's presence after having returned to the table with a tray of food already filled for both him, his sister, and mother, having offered to get the food while they sat.
"Huh? Ringlet Girl? What are you doing here?"
"Ah? Well if isn't Vegeta-san." Saki noted with a sour tone.
"What's someone like you doing here? Came to cheer on your bodyguard? Being a cheerleader doesn't really suit a blonde twit like you."
Need it be said that the two did not get along very well in contrast to the relationship Saki had with Bulma and Bloom? It did not.
Naturally, when an arrogant boy and a haughty girl clashed, a fight would ensue. And that fight was about to begin in 3, 2, 1...
*SNAP*
"How rude! As expected from a brute like you!" Saki huffed, offended at the nickname Vegeta called her by. "I still can't see how someone like yourself is related to the likes of Bulma-san and Bloom-san. It goes against the universe's laws!"
And like that, the blonde went on a rant against the young saiyan fighter. Said young fighter didn't even look fazed at all by her insults.
"Don't you know? Some rules are meant to be broken." The boy smirked in reply. "At any rate you can blame genetics on me not resembling my relatives all that much. Either way I happen to like the way I look."
At that, Saki smirked quite with an evil glint in her eyes.
"Hoh? Does that include being a midget?"
A low blow to be sure as the others winced. Compared to Goku who was pushing at least 5'9 at the age of 17, Vegeta was only a 5'4 at best.
"Hmph! My height does nothing to lessen my strength as a fighter! In fact it makes me harder to hit!"
"Vegeta, that fake smirk on your face isn't really helping your case." Goku deadpanned.
"You stay out of this!"
"Alright you two, that's enough. People are watching." Bulma spoke up.
True enough, several people within the cafeteria looked at the group with curious eyes.
"Hmph. Fine, so long as this blonde twit agrees."
"Wha...!?" The blonde looked liked she was about to go into another tirade.
"Saki-sama please calm down!" Aya attempted to calm her friend.
"Indeed, he is not even worth your time!" Rin joined in, while looking annoyed at Vegeta., pointing her wooden sword at him in the process. "Apologize to Saki-sama for your insult you fiend!"
"Alright fine. As long as she doesn't bother me anymore then I'm sorry." The young saiyan warrior replied half-heartedly.
"Hmph! I suppose that would do. Rin, Aya, we are leaving. I cannot bear to be in the same room as this man." Saki said as she and her two companions left the area.
After they did so, Risa stated.
"Anybody else felt that sexual tension?"
Everyone in the room could only look at her incredulously as the girl laughed, especially so when she saw the look on Vegeta's face.
"What did I miss...?" A black-eyed Saruyama walked into the cafeteria rather groggily.
"Hmm? Hey there Saruyama, didn't think you'd wake up so soon." Goku greeted.
Later that day...
The group stood at the entrance of the World Martial Art's Stadium, though there was something different about it...
When they entered, they saw that it was no longer the same dinky ring that it once was when he and Vegeta last competed over 6 years ago. It was now a large formation of rocks and platforms surrounded by water. The stands were about five times larger and spread out to cover a larger amount of attendees.
"Uwah~! It's so huge!" Lala cried out in surprise.
"I saw it on our way here but I didn't think they built it to this extent." Goku commented.
"Yeah, it's huge." Beat added. "You have to wonder how many people would be able to attend today to watch."
"Impressive isn't it? It's actually has bigger arenas down below." Bloom added as the others sans her relatives looked at her in surprise. "You guys didn't know? Capsule Corp had a hand in creating this new stadium for the Ultimate Fighting Division. The old stadium was moved elsewhere for the regular tournaments."
"Well that explains a lot." Goku noted. "If it even has arenas down below, then you have to wonder how this new division is going to go down."
"Nervous?" Puck asked.
"That, and I'm a little excited." Goku smiled back in response.
"You guys really do live in another world. This is so over the top." Risa stated as Mio and Haruna nodded in agreement. An arena like this must've cost a fortune, yet it seems as though the Leigh family wasn't all that bothered by the expenditures.
"Son Goku."
*SLASH*
"Good to see you too Yami, I was wondering when I'd see you here." Goku quickly stopped the blade arm headed towards him with two fingers, not at all bothered by the rather blatant attack on him.
"I can see that you've maintained your skills since our last encounter." She said as her arm transformed back to normal.
"Who's this? Another alien?" Haruna asked, having noted Yami's ability.
"Oh right, you haven't actually met her before now." Lala said as she came up beside Goku. "This is Yami-chan. Like me, she's from outer space."
"Greetings. It's a pleasure to meet you all." Yami bowed respectfully.
"You're so pretty!" Mio said as she came up beside the blonde in black together with Risa.
"And you can transform your hand into weapons? Does that mean you can transform any part of your body?"
"Yes I can."
"Heh~" Risa smiled slyly before grabbing Yami's breasts, an action quite appreciated by the males of the group until they were all smacked on the head by Bloom and Note.
"W-What are you...!?" The blonde cried out in embarrassment.
"R-Risa!" Haruna exclaimed.
"You have such smooth skin and silky hair. Your chest is soft too as small as they are. Is that a product of your transformation or just your natural self?" Risa asked as she ever so gently groped Yami from head to toe.
"Alright, that's enough you pervy woman!"
*THWACK*
"Ow!" Risa felt Goku lightly chopping the back of her head, causing her to release Yami. "How cruel, hitting a girl without warning..."
"You're not a girl, you're a pervy woman. At any rate show some restraint, there are guys here you know." Goku deadpanned as he pointed a thumb to the others.
"Oh don't mind us. Just continue on what you were girls were doing~!" Roshi said, tissues in nostrils.
"Yeah! I can use this as material for my manga!" Saiba cheered. Both of the man's children sighed at this. If only their mother were here... Only then would their father show some proper restraint.
"Get a hold of yourselves you fools!" Pan scolded as she held both men by the ear.
Well, at least their grandma was around. That accounted for something at least.
"Son Goku." The young man heard Yami calling out to him. "Thank you for the assistance. However, this does not change things between us."
"I know, I know." Goku replied. "That aside, do you think you're ready for the tournament?"
"Please do not underestimate me." The girl responded. "I did not waste the past few months doing nothing. I have studied how you earthlings fight, and I also know of your special technique that you displayed to Gid Lucion Deviluke."
"Wait, you saw that?"
"Of course I did. Anyone within a mile of the city would have seen it." Yami said. "Thus, I implore that you do not hold back during our fight. For I will not show the same mercy to you."
"True, I can sense that your power is a lot stronger than it was back then." The young fighter noted before extending his hand and smiling. "At any rate let's have a good match shall we?"
Yami stared at his hand for a few moments before turning away.
"Do not forget. You will buy me Taiyaki after this if I win."
"Hmm? Oh yeah, I did promise that didn't I?" Goku said, having forgotten about the promise he made with Yami. The blonde assassin on the other hand looked mildly annoyed at his forgetfulness.
Off to the side, the others, specifically the girls, watched on with interest.
"Just what is it with that girl?" Run asked irritably. "Buying Taiyaki for her... Does that mean she asked Goku to go on a date with her if she wins!?"
"Eh!?" Haruna and Bloom cried out at the green-haired girl's assumption.
"Hmm... Goku-nii did always have a thing for strong girls, he just doesn't know it yet." Note commented as the girls looked at her. "That girl Yami doesn't seem like she'd be a pushover either."
'Goku likes strong girls...?' Haruna thought fretfully. 'Well it would make sense. He is a martial artist after all... What should I do? Should I start taking lessons in Martial Arts to make him notice me? But I don't really like fighting...'
At that moment, an image of her being a martial arts student and apprenticed to none other than Goku himself appeared in her mind. It quickly became a racy thought as her face flushed red and she began to space out.
'Tch. Another rival...? It's bad enough with Lala-san and Run-san, but now her? Just how much of a chick magnet are you Goku-san!?'
Bloom herself was acting up in frustration, wanting hit her head on something just to vent out her thoughts.
"It's good that they're getting along, isn't it Peke?" Lala on the other hand didn't notice their reactions, and in fact, wasn't bothered by Run's assumption.
"Are they I wonder..." The costume robot muttered as she watched the duo of Goku and Yami.
"Announcement." The PA system of the arena rang and a voice came out. "All fighters participating in the Ultimate Fighting Division please gather at the center of the arena. The tournament shall be starting within the next 45 minutes. I repeat..."
"Center of the arena, does that mean the platforms?" Beat wondered.
"Probably. Come on you all, it's show time." Vegeta said as he began walking towards the center where bridges connecting to the audience stands appeared, allowing most of the fighters to cross over with ease while some merely flew over.
"Do your best you guys~! I'll be cheering you all on~!" Lala exclaimed as she and the others waved at their participating friends. Run pulled out some pepper, quickly spraying it over her nose causing her to sneeze back into Ren, who quickly ran to catch up with the others.
"Goku! Make sure you win this because I have a lot of money riding on you!"
"Wait, you too!?"
"Whoa, how many guys are competing?"
Goku noted that the amount of fighters went pass the expected 120. At least more than that expected number of fighters were coming out and headed towards the platforms.
"Does it really matter? The only real challengers here would be us." Vegeta said while smirking.
"Don't be so sure about that Vegeta."
The young man cried out in surprise when he felt someone behind him. That someone was none other than Piccolo, who smirking at the young fighter's reaction.
"W-Who the heck are you!? And how do you know my name!?" Vegeta took a fighting stance. He didn't even sense him at all!
"Well you are the heir to earth's most influential family." Piccolo stated. "That and you're a dead ringer for you ancestor, Vegeta Sr."
"Wait, what?" How did this person know about his ancestor?
"Relax Vegeta." Goku came in between them as he gestured to Piccolo. "This is Piccolo. He's a good friend of Grandma's, and apparently he knew both our ancestor's quite well."
"I-Is that right?" The other young man relaxed, though still somewhat tense as he felt Piccolo's power level. It was beyond anything he had ever sense before!
"Anyway Piccolo-san, what took you so long?"
"I had to pick up two of my students. I was late because the two of them forgot that today was the day of the tournament."
"Alright, alright, we forgot! We've already said that we were sorry!"
"Yeah, you didn't have to hit us so hard!"
Two young female Majin came out from behind Piccolo. The first one wore a purple outfit that had a cape with bells attached to its ends. The other wore a similar outfit with a cape, but one that looked more suited to battle. Both had pink skin and blue eyes.
"Quiet! I've already told you that from the moment you both wanted to become my students, that you'd be doing things my way. Am I wrong!?"
Both girls flinched at his voice. Even the others were quite take aback it as well, Yami herself included.
"N-No..."
"Good. At least your memories aren't that bad." Piccolo stated as he crossed his arms. "Which reminds me. Remember your manners and introduce yourselves."
"I'm Vivio!" The one in purple stated.
"And I'm Juubi!" The second one stated.
"Pleased to meet you all!" They finished together and bowed respectfully.
"Yeah, same here." Goku replied but flinched back in surprise when all of a sudden the former was standing in front of him. "Uh... something I can help you with?"
"Say, you smell familiar~" Vivio stated while sniffing him out. "And you look familiar too. Have we met somewhere before?"
"Doesn't he look like that statue over there?" Juubi pointed out as she directed a finger at the statue of Son Goku Sr., one of the two visual landmarks that were preserved during the construction of the new arena.
Goku was glad that it wasn't moved. It gave him something of a confidence boost knowing that his ancestor might be watching him in a sense.
"Wow, no wonder you looked familiar." Vivio commented before stars appeared in her eyes."You're Son Goku Jr. right?"
"Uh, yeah?" He had a bad feeling regarding what was happening.
"Um! I thought so!" At that, she latched onto Goku much to the latter's shock as well as the others.
"W-Wait a minute! What are the two of you doing!?" Bloom cried out in a jealous fit. "Don't go hugging him all of a sudden!"
"That's just part of their nature." Piccolo began as the others looked at him confused.
"Let me teach you all a little history lesson. Over a century ago, Majin Buu, the founder of the Majin Clan didn't have any friends because people thought that he was a monster. That was until he met Mr. Satan, who was the first person to actually befriend him. Because of that single act of kindness, Majin Buu treated Mr. Satan as the most important thing in his world."
"That same fondness now extends throughout Majin Buu's descendants and is now directed towards Mr. Satan's own descendants. I think you can all make the connection." Piccolo finished.
"Being Hercule Satan's descendant, the Majin have fondness for Son Goku as well correct?" Yami stated, having brushed up on Earth history during her stay on the planet. She was mildly surprised when she found out that the boy she was targeting belonged to a very wealthy family despite not appearing so.
"Ah, I get it." Ren noted. "Then does that mean the same applies to you Abra?"
Abra merely turned away, though one could see a light blush of embarrassment on his face. That was all the confirmation Ren and the others needed.
"Most Majin are able to handle themselves better while some cannot resist being overly affectionate with Mr. Satan's descendants, particularly the young ones. You can blame youthfulness for that." Piccolo added.
"That still doesn't make it right!" Bloom exclaimed as she pointed a finger at Vivio. "Hey you! Get away from him already!"
"Make me. Bleh~!" Vivio stuck her tongue out at the bluenette.
"Why you...!"
"Alright that's enough you two. Save it for when the actual tournament begins." A voice interrupted, and Goku saw that it was none other than a tan-skinned elderly man wearing a turtle hermit uniform. Not only that, the old man seemed very familiar to Goku.
"Commissioner Podovisky?" The young fighter said, having realized that the man who stood before him was none other than the current police chief of Satan City itself.
"It's been three years Goku. I can see that you grew like a weed." The man chuckled.
"This is a surprise. I never expected that you'd be entering the tournament."
"I like to keep my skills sharp, and the tournament is a perfect place for that." Podovisky replied as he scanned the group Goku came with. "I can see that your cousins are competing too."
"Hey there Commissioner!" Note waved as did Beat.
"Same here," The man said before looking at Beat. "Just so you know Beat, you're still not off the hook about what happened last week."
"Oh come on! That was an accident!" The boy cried out.
"I told you to stick to the plan didn't I?" Note scolded.
At that moment, two new fighters joined the fray.
"It's been years Goku." One of them said, a male, judging from the voice, wearing what looked like... samurai armor? He even had a matching sword strapped to his waist. The other was an attractive raven haired beauty whom Goku noted to have quite the developed body. She too had a sword strapped to her waist and wore modern clothing compared to her companion.
"Uh... do I know you?" The samurai faulted to the ground.
"How rude! You already forgot me when you and I fought during the Junior Division six years ago!?"
"Fufufu~" His female companion giggled. "That's what you get for wearing that silly outfit."
"Shigure!" The other exclaimed. "You're supposed to be backing me up here!"
"Wait, Kaito that you?"
The samurai armored male huffed as he spoke once more.
"Of course! Who else could it be!?"
"Uh, who knows? I can't exactly tell when wear that helmet over your face." Goku said. "That aside, what's up with the armor?"
"Hmm? I just like samurai, why?"
"Uh, no reason." The young man waved off. "Good job on that speech you made few months back. Because of you and the Kikoukenjutsu School, we got ourselves a new arena and division."
Kaito looked smug at the praise, chuckling ever so slightly. Meanwhile Shigure giggled once more at her friend's act.
"Just so you know Goku, I've gotten a heck of a lot stronger than I was six years ago." Kaito began. "Just fair warning so that you don't underestimate me."
"Hmph. Like it matters." Vegeta smirked before turning to Goku. "Hey Goku, why don't we make things a little more interesting?"
"Hmm?"
"How about we see how long any of us can last without transforming? That would give these guys a fair shot at least."
Goku thought about it for a minute before smiling in response.
"Alright, I'll take you up on that offer." He said before looking at Beat and Note. "You heard that you two? You in or out?"
"We're in! We'll show you how strong we even without transforming, isn't that right Note?"
"Right!"
"Ugh, I feel so left out..." Bloom groaned somewhat annoyed, being the only one among the group with Saiyan blood to have not yet achieved Super Saiyan.
"Don't worry about it Bloom. You'll be able to do it yourself one day, just be patient." The bluenette merely smiled at Goku's words of encouragement.
As they kept waiting for the tournament to start, Piccolo felt something off as he watched the fighters gather on the platform.
'Hmm? This sensation... it feels very familiar.'
"What's wrong Piccolo-san? You look kinda tense." Goku asked as he looked up at the Namekian warrior.
"Can't you feel it?" He stated. "A power level about as powerful as your own and Vegeta's just arrived."
"What?" Goku exclaimed quietly before sharpening his senses.
"Whoa, you're right..." It was at that moment that realization struck his brain. "Do you think it's the guy that Lala's father wants me to fight?"
Before he could get his answer though...
"You are... Son Goku Jr. correct?"
Suddenly, a white haired young man about Goku's height stood before him and Piccolo much to the former's surprise.
'What the...!? This strength is... it's him!'
The young man wore a smile on his face as he looked at Goku, ever so slightly changing his gaze between him and Vegeta, who himself noticed the former's stares.
He was wearing what looked liked armor, similar to the ones Vegeta would sometimes wear when training. Though his looked like something of a mix between that and a purple coat. He had both arms behind his back, but Goku couldn't help but feel had something up his sleeve that he was dying to show.
"Yeah, I am." Goku responded calmly. "And you are?"
"Just call me Froze. I'm just here to say that I look forward to facing both you and Vegeta Leigh in the Tournament." With that, the young man left as quick as he came. It was at that moment that Vegeta came up to Goku with a cautious look on his face.
"And who the hell was that? He wasn't human, that's for sure. He was too powerful." He stated. "You know him?"
"No. But I think I have an idea. Either way, we'll end up facing each other in this tournament. That I'm sure of."
Piccolo on the other hand merely crossed his arms as he began thinking.
'Froze huh? A name that sounds familiar to another person I know... They even have similar energy signatures, but his appearance was human. A disguise then? What's his motivation for being here...?'
As the young man walked away, another person watched him with keen eyes.
"So... the information was right. Froze really did come to Earth to partake in this tournament." He said before a troubled look appeared on his face. "Still, I didn't think that Golden Darkness would be here to participate in the tournament herself. Is she working for him? Did he caught wind of my arrival?"
Either way, this little setback wouldn't stop him. Should Yami prove to be a nuisance, he'd just have to treat her as his enemy.
For his revenge, he'd do anything!
"Ladies and Gentlemen! Thank you all for coming here today and welcome to the 67th Tenkaichi Budokai!"
The white haired sunglasses wearing announcer declared at the top of the platform arena. Despite the hairdo, he was actually still quite young.
"I apologize on behalf of the World Tournament Committee for holding up the Tournament for so long. Allow me to welcome you all to the Ultimate Fighting Division!"
With a snap of his fingers, a giant floating screen appeared.
"I shall be explaining the rules now." He began before pausing. "Well, to be precise, there are no rules! In this division, any type of weapon is allowed except for projectile weapons. Fighters who use performance enhancing drugs are allowed to compete too, so it's good news for you roid monkeys out there!"
The crowd and the participating fighters laughed at that.
"At any rate, the preliminary round is simply a Battle Royal. Where all participants are going to beat the living daylights out of each other until 16 fighters are left standing in the ring." He paused for a moment before continuing. "Now, I know what you're thinking folks. Isn't this a little dangerous for the participants? That's what some of the committee thought too."
"However, according to the words of the headmaster of the Kikoukenjutsu School, Ryu Hayabusa, he stated that:"
"In life, there are no certainties. We must use what we can in order to survive. That has always been the way that we humans have been able to live for so many centuries. To limit a fighter due to unfairness is wrong. The fighter with the disadvantage must be able overcome the hurdle of any challenge before him, less he will never truly be great. And overcoming hurdles is what makes us strong."
"With those words in mind, the committee accepted and thus this new division is born!" The announcer declared. "That aside, who'd bring a gun or bow to a martial arts competition? We already have guys who can blast things pure energy. That would be redundant."
The audience and fighters once more laughed together at that.
"Such a lively place this planet is." Yami noted.
"Is it like this during every tournament?" Ren asked.
"More or less." Goku replied.
"Now, without further delay...!"
Suddenly, the platforms began shifting and the fighters standing on them were divided into different locations. Goku noted that it must've been done so that the fighters wouldn't be reduced to simply brawling it out among each other when they were so close to one another.
"Like I said, this is a Battle Royal. If a fighter falls into the water or is knocked out, then they're out! KO! Scram! Pack your bags and get lost!"
"Wow, Mr. Akira is really getting into this." Bloom commented as she saw that each of her friends were now standing on different platforms aside from Note herself, whom was standing on the same platform as her.
"Team Ups are okay too! Just remember that you'll eventually might be facing the person you teamed up with in the first round!" Akira stated as the fighters began looking among themselves. "The Battle Royal will go on until 16 fighters are left standing. Are you all ready~?"
Drums began to beat loudly and started off with a slow rhythm.
Goku began smiling as it picked up its pace. It really was a fitting theme for whenever the martial arts tournament would begin.
"Goku! Good luck~!"
He heard Lala calling out to him from the stands, he looked back to where she was and waved, seeing her along with Haruna and everyone else cheering him and the others on. At the same time, the drums became a rapid pace before suddenly coming to a halt.
*DONG*
"BEGIN!"
END
Author's Note:
Finally! The World Tournament has begun! Like to make it a point now that I actually have trouble writing fight scenes. So the next few chapters may come out weeks apart because I want to ensure quality. Also, the OCs that you all have submitted have appeared! I changed my mind regarding them being just reduced to cameos and referenced every now and then after the tournament. They'll appear more, but not so much since the focus is on the Goku Jr. and the rest.
Bloom and Note view each other as rivals and friends. What do you guys think? I took cues from how Chi-Chi and Bulma would act whenever both women would start arguing with each other. Genes are strong don't you think? :)
Ren reappears and as a student of the Turtle Hermit School. Just because he's a student doesn't mean he'd be a badass like Goku anytime soon. He'd need years, and I mean years, to catch up.
The Majin being fond of Mr. Satan's descendants came to mind because I thought it would be a little funny and sweet at the same time. Mostly the latter because no matter how many years pass, the Majin would never forget the kindness and friendship that he showed to their founder, and being clones of Buu in a sense, they all share this sentiment and also direct that same fondness towards Hercule's descendants.
That aside, should I just skim the battle royal (in a sense that everyone of the 16 chosen fighters will curb-stomp the other fighters and be awesome) or skip it entirely and head straight for the 1st Round match ups?
If some of you have questions then I'll either PM you or I'll reply to them via the reply page I put up.
