Kurt is listening to Night Vale. I ain't even sorry.
(Short explanation for those who aren't familiar with it: Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast you can listen to online- that's where I found it- and it's the story of a little town in the desert, where super weird and spooky stuff happen. You can google it and find it quite easily. The song "The Bus Is Late" that Kurt's humming is in the second episode, if you're wondering.)
YES! There's a pun in the title and it's a name of a song! I am the champion.
Singing in the Rain
"… the bus in the rain, the rain…"
"Huh?"
Kurt looked up from his notebook, where he's been working on a new outfit for a while, and realized he was humming out loud. "Oh, sorry. Just humming a song."
Blaine nodded and returned to his laptop, returning his focus to his own work.
A few moments later, Kurt began humming again. "Waiting for the bus in the rain, in the rain…"
"Okay, that is the weirdest song," said Blaine, not looking up this time.
"It is," giggled Kurt. "But it's so catchy!"
"Oh no, you're going to make me listen to it."
Kurt put down his notebook and pencil. "C'mon, give me the laptop."
Blaine chuckled, saved the document and handed Kurt the laptop. He found the song easily, and pressed play.
Blaine pursed his lips, trying to hide a grin. In a few seconds, his face was twisted in a familiar expression of trying to choke back laughter. He breathed deeply, as if to calm himself- but then busted out laughing. He slapped a hand over his mouth, his body shaking with uncontrollable giggles. Kurt rolled his eyes at him.
"It's not that funny."
"Oh- oh my god, Kurt." He was wheezing. "That's the weirdest song ever!"
Kurt was giggling as well by the time the song ended. "Isn't it catchy, though?"
Blaine was trying to get himself back together, gasping for air. "Oh my god, Kurt. Where is it from?"
"Night Vale!" said Kurt cheerfully.
"Uh… what?"
Kurt grinned. "Well, it's this podcast about a town called Night Vale and really weird random stuff happen in it and there's Cecil and he's in love with Carlos and-" He stopped himself when he realized he was babbling too much. "Do you wanna listen to the first episode? It's like twenty minutes."
And so twenty minutes later, they were sprawled on the couch, laptop on Kurt's knees, and when Kurt asked, Blaine laughed and said of course he wanted to listen to the next episode.
After all, he had to know what was going to happen with Cecil and Carlos, right?
You guys. Ugh. Stop being so sweet, you're giving me cavities. I swear you're the best readers in the entire world. Love you all so much! :*
