A/N: I LOVE YOU ALL FOR FIGHTING BECAUSE I LOVE THIS STORY TOO OKAY
I could go on and on about my personal troubles but I am going to continues this story if it takes the life outta me. Now, that means it's gonna be super fast-paced, okay? Okay.
Frankly, I'm sick and tired of going over all this TVD drama that I'm assuming you all have watched on TV. Who cares about what happened in the past of the show? I'm sure you guys got the basic drill down by now- everything goes on the same, except Elena is disliked widely with everyone and Cara is more of the gorgeous-in-a-unique-way heroine. Right? Anyways, I'm going to skip ahead to the interesting part of this story- where Klaus is. I'm not going to write out all the drama about traking him down or drawing him out of the shadows or whatever, because in my version, he is the one seeking Cara out. There is no violence or aggressiveness involved with her, and Elena is barely within his concern. In case you need a refresher, here's a summary of what went down:
Elena goes and talks to Katherine about her past, keeping it a secret from everyone except Caroline because she knows Stefan would disapprove. With a trade of Elena's blood for information, Katherine reveals that she is running from Klaus because she betrayed him by becoming a vampire, ruining his plans to break his own curse with her now un-usable doppelganger blood. They show the scene where Katherine gives birth to her baby, and how when she was running away it was Rose and Trevor helping her.
Jeremy has a crush on Bonnie but Bonnie is questioning it, only hanging out with him as a friend and to practice her witchy stuff. At some point they kiss and are together? Not really specified yet because they don't know if they're serious or not.
Elena makes a deal with Elijah (who is not dead, like you should've figured out by now) about offering herself to Klaus so that Elijah could get closer to him and kill him. Stefan gets all butt hurt about it because he thinks Elena is making a stupid decision, offering herself over everyone else. It's basically suicide.
Meanwhile Tyler Lockwood finds a little video of his Uncle Mason turning, and freaks out about his first full moon. But Caroline is there to comfort him, even though she knows his bite is fatal, and they get through the night pretty smoothly for the circumstances.
Damon, Cara and Alaric (the lovely three musketeers) get suspicious when one of Mason's friends shows up in town, called Jules. They find out Jules is a werewolf, and in the process Cara pisses her off. So when the full moon comes, Jules shows up at the Salvatore's with intentions of killing the redheaded vamp, but ends up leaving Rose with the fatal bite instead. Cara stays with Rose and puts her out of her misery, and Damon comforts his woman after she's lost yet another friend. Literally the next day, while Cara's in the pissy-est mood possible, Uncle John comes back into town, hearing that Elijah is alive, and tries to team up with Damon, Cara and Ric to kill him. Let's just say that was a painfully hilarious conversation, but it all ended with then agreeing to try and kill the Original.
After all their fighting, and Stefan's main intention of staying with Elena (even though he understands she's a raging bitch most of the time) they go on a romantic weekend getaway and Elena initiates lots of sex because she doesn't want Stefan to leave her, putting her plans on stealing Damon away from Cara on hold.
Damon and Cara attend some tea at the Historical society to talk to Elijah. Let's just say the got the information they wanted, then fucked in the car on the way home. When they get home the attention is brought back to the idea of killing Elijah, and John reveals that he's brought with him a dagger and White Oak ash, saying it will kill Elijah. So the three musketeers throw a dinner party to try and kill Elijah which ends up being only a temporary solution, leaving Elijah knocked out cold in the cellar.
A bunch of random, pointless witch shit is going on with some new guy Jeremy and Bonnie met at school called Luka and his dad. They fight over stupid things and have a dumb witchy war thing that I don't even care to put in here because in all honesty this story doesn't have any focus on witch-like things or Bonnie. Don't worry, her character and Jeremy do come out in this later version. Just writing all this background for you guys is really getting me excited to show you everything I've been planning! :D
Okay back to seriousness. God I hope I'm not writing this for you guys to just scroll past, then read the chapter, and review about how confused you are.
IF YOU ARE SCROLLING PAST THIS YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NOT UNDERSTAND ANY OF THE NEXT CHAPTER. FAIR WARNING! :)
Alright, we're halfway through, I'll try to be quick, I swear.
Elena and Alaric lash out at Isobel's surprise visit, and Jenna gets upset with Elena about her knowing she was alive the whole time. When Alaric comes over to try and explain to Jenna, to which she just cries and runs away (so cowardly- I really expected more from her character there) John tells Alaric it's his fault for not being honest with her in the first place, and Alaric (everyone's true hero here) replies to John with a punch in the face. How AWESOME!
Katherine ends up getting out of the tomb with the strength Elena's blood gave her from their little trade earlier in the season. Isobel arrives at her new house along with her little sidekick Frank, and Katherine is also there. Isobel tells her that she's been busy by talking with Klaus to spare Katherine, and that makes Katherine a lot calmer. She also tells Katherine that she didn't find Klaus, but she found one of his warlocks, Maddox. So they use this warlock when Isobel goes to fake apologize to Alaric and then Maddox knocks him out with magic. When Elena accepts her reward, Isobel bites John to create distraction so that Katherine could kidnap Elena. Then Stefan follows "Elena" to the parking lot, where she stabs him and throws him into the bushes.
Now for an update on one of my favorite characters: Matt. So he told Liz that a vampire killed his sister Vicki. Then, he goes to see Caroline at her house and gets really angry and demands her to tell him what happened to Vicki and everything about her. After Caroline has told him everything, he tells her that he doesn't want to remember any of it because he doesn't want to look at her and see what she really is. Caroline compels him to forget, but it is later revealed that it was a setup by Sheriff Forbes to find out everything about the vampires. Matt had already secretly drank some vervain before he went to Caroline's house, so when Matt told Caroline to compel him, her compulsion didn't work.
A few other things go on concerning the new witches and Bonnie, so Damon and Cara decide to go figure out what was going on. Thee was some anger with Bonnie and it ended up with her revealing to the two vampires that she had her powers back. Damon and Cara shared this with Stefan, so now they consider Bonnie a new secret weapon.
Other unimportant things go on with Katherine, and in the last scene of episode 17, Katherine awakens in some house. She sees Maddox doing some spell on Alaric so she freaks out and tries to escape. Then it's revealed that Alaric is now possessed by Alaric.
With Klaus finally showing up in Mystic Falls, he hangs around Cara as much as possible- treating her extremely kindly and full of admiration and curiosity. Cara just takes this as her friend Alaric extending his grace, when in reality it's Klaus. Damon notices the odd behaviour in Alaric and ends up pulling him aside to ask what his deal was with being so interested in Cara. You could say a hint of jealousy showed in Damon, but 'Alaric' simply brushed it off and said they were close friends.
Elena starts getting really disturbing messages from Klaus, and they're extended toward the idea of getting Elena and Cara alone together. Stefan wanted to sign over the boarding house to Elena, making it a safe house for her. Cara was completely against the idea but even Damon agreed it would be safer- for Cara especially. Damon wanted to keep Cara as far away from this Klaus guy as possible- he'd even tried to get Cara to fly away to Peru with him and go into hiding. Although tempted by the offer, since they'd never been to that part of South America before, Cara declined his offer and decided she wanted to face this head on. The gap in her mind where Klaus apparently stood haunted her and she needed to figure out where he fit in. So much to Damon's protest, they went as chaperones to the 1960s Decade Dance where they all expected Klaus to be.
Bonnie claims she can use her new-found power to kill Klaus at the dance, but everyone is concerned because there is a high possibility it would kill her. Damon agrees with Bonnie, letting her sacrifice herself, so Bonnie puts a protection spell on herself. They go up against Klaus, and Bonnie puts up a great fight but ends up dead. Elena and Jeremy are heartbroken, and Cara feeling extremely guilty and selfish, but then Damon reveals to Stefan that Bonnie is fine because of the protection spell. Stefan gets mad, but then Damon says Klaus needed to believe the death and claims he would've told both Elena and Cara, and that he wouldn't care, and practically hoped that Elena would hate him for it. He needed to protect Cara and he was okay being the one making life and death decisions.
Cara takes the final step in figuring out what the hell is going on with her. Why she's having odd and mixed feelings about the Klaus guy- everyone hates him and Damon feels the need to protect her from him. Why does she feel no fear towards the man? Cara goes to the cellar and yanks the dagger out of Elijah. She gets him to go and sit down with her, Damon, Stefan, and Elena (ugh, Stefan insisted she would be kept in the loop.)
Now, after accidentally exploiting Jenna to the world of the supernatural (ha ha to my other readers cough cough supernatural cough) Elijah is explaining the whole situation before Klaus can get to the scene.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything from The Vampire Diaries. I do own my character Cara and all the story changes aligned with her.
Cara's POV
"So, you're telling me there's a whole family of you Originals?" Elena says. I roll my eyes.
"The man clearly just stated they were all related," I tell her. My curious mind turns me back to Elijah. "But... what does Klaus want with me? That's the real question here; why do we have to go into all the talk about you guys being family and Klaus being an outsider, for which you've yet to explain?"
Elijah visibly readies himself for what he's about to say. "Trust me. Let me explain and I'm sure you'll come to sense with your connections."
I nod and Damon takes my hand, pulling it into his lap and squeezing feverishly. Is he seriously so worked up about a little Original history? I squeeze his hand back and turn my attention to Elijah.
"So, as I was saying," Elijah starts. "Nothing can kill an Original, besides a dagger made from the wood of a tree that's been burnt down centuries ago."
"But you guy can walk in the sun," Stefan says warily. "Why would Klaus want to break the Sun and Moon curse?"
"The Sun and Moon curse was simply a lie, a ploy to his actual plan." Elijah says this as if it was the most obvious thing. Elijah takes a breath and continues. "Klaus does need Cara and the doppelgänger. He created the myth in order to have every member of two warring species on the look-out for them. But the true curse is on Klaus."
"What's the curse?" Damon asks.
"To answer is a whole other story."
"I'm done with the fucking stories," Damon grunts. He stands up and... starts yelling! "I just want to know why this Klaus dude wants my wife- my Cara, so bad! Just tell me what we have to do to get her out of this, however she fits in this curse-braking. Just tell me!"
Elijah steps up pushing him back on the lounge gently. "I will. You just need to get all the puzzle pieces before you can see the picture."
Damon settles down and Elijah goes on.
"My mother, Esther, had an affair when we were just children, before Klaus was born. My father apparently knew, or sensed it, because he spent his days beating her." We all hold in our breaths as Elijah went on. "Then she... got pregnant. And they were sure it was from the other man. So my father went out and beat him, beat him so hard it started a war between the families. Turns out it was the family of the first wolves- werewolves."
"And that's why you have the whole enemy thing," I clarify. Elijah nods.
"And you'd think my mother would've stopped the affair with the Alpha. But no, because six years later, she had another baby. Mikael never knew- nor did the father of the child. This time she knew early along- she had time to plan. She hid this pregnancy for six months until she gave birth to a premature baby girl. Yet what she didn't know is that five-year-old Klaus noticed everything, and he hid when he watched his mother deliver the baby out in the woods. He watched as she..."
"She what?" Elena interrupts. "God, you're so suspenseful."
"Esther lost the baby," Elijah states. That shuts Elena up effectively. "So he watched as she lay in the woods, bloodied and distraught, burying the body of her baby girl. So she does the only thing a witch mother would do- she enchants her. Esther put a spell on her soul- a special reincarnation spell that would allow the baby to be brought to life again, yet born from another woman in an entirely different place. Each life of hers, she would grow in the same body and same mind, yet when she died, had no recollection of her past life. Esther thought that this would protect her, knowing she would live on away from the wars going on in her village."
"But she was Klaus's sister," Stefan says. "And you're only his half-brother, right?"
"Correct. Actually, that was what I was going to say next. Klaus figured that out himself when out father, Mikael, treated him so horribly. But Klaus was the only one to know about his sister- the other child from the werewolf alpha. He became fixated on finding her, one of her reincarnated selves. After our mother created us as Originals, he finally stood up to her, demanding to know where his one true sibling was and that she become an Original vampire as well."
"You're avoiding the question," Damon says sharply. "Why does Klaus want Cara to break the curse you've yet to eplain?"
"And me," Elena comments, whining. Damon waves her off and we turn our attention to Elijah still.
"Since Klaus and his sister were born with a werewolf father, they were both hybrids. Anyways, the curse was that the witches made Klaus's werewolf side dormant The curse was put on the baby as well, Esther made sure of it as soon as she was born. Klaus, while demanding to know where his sister is, also wanted to ignite it. The curse can be broken during a full moon when he's in transition, which is also when he's the weakest and can be killed."
"Still, not getting to the poooiiint," Damon sang threat-fully.
Elijah turns to me, looking deep into my eyes. "Cara, who turned you?"
"I don't know," I tell him. "All I know is that is was in 1463 in Ireland and I'd just turned twenty and found out my husband was killed. Then I met some guy and he brought me back to his place, we had tea, he turned me and then left. Don't remember his name, or even what he looked like." Damon drew small circles on my hand with his thumb as I spoke, it kept me steady.
"Right. You were born there, correct?" Elijah asks. I nod.
"So what I'm about to say," Elijah starts. "Will change your life forever."
He paused for my okay, which Damon replied with, "Ready and waiting."
Elijah takes a breath. "After Klaus found out he had a sister, he revolved his life around trying to catch up to wherever she was. This took him almost six hundred years, since after every lifetime she had she'd be in a different place. Finally he caught up to her, and spent a night revealing the whole entire truth to her. Then he used a powerful witch and turned her with the Original's spell and the one piece of White Oak he kept for the occasion.
Then he sent her off to live her life. He wanted to wait until he had the doppelganger and break the curse on the both of them, and he didn't know how long it could take. So my brother compelled his sister to forget him until she'd see his face again and their curse would be broken."
"So you're saying that once he breaks this curse, both him and the sister will be Original Hybrids?" Stefan asks, interrupting.
"Yes," replies Elijah. "Now Cara," he starts.
I deepen my stare with him dramatically. "Yes, Elijah?"
"Klaus... he found you there, in the field in Ireland. You are his sister, you are the other Original Hybrid."
