Disclaimer: I don't own The Vampire Diaries. I do own my story.
I pour my self a shot of tequila, leaning against the bar as everyone waits for my response. "So, is he coming here tonight?"
"Well," Elijah starts. "He said he'd be here in twenty minutes. So more like today."
Shot number two. "Great, that means I get to find out who I really am withing the hour."
Damon comes next to me at the bar, pouring himself a bourbon while resting one hand on my hip. "It's gonna be fine, baby. You'll be the same person, just with some... new memories."
"Memories that can determine whether I go all dark side on you all," I sigh. "What if I instantly turn into a bad guy or something? I mean from the things I hear about my brother, I could be the next evil spawn." Shot number three.
"You'd never turn evil, Care." Stefan coos. But I hear Elena mutter "You never know..."
I go to pour another shot but Damon stops me. "Why don't you go for a walk or something? I'll come with if you want," he offers.
"No, thanks though. I think..." I pause, then look down at what I'm wearing. "Do you think I should change?"
"You look fine Ca-"
"Yes," Elena intrudes. "Unless you want the first time you meet your brother to be in sweatpants and a tank top where you can totally see your nipples, by the way."
For once, I consider what Elena's saying. I quickly pour and drink my fourth shot then hop off the bar. "I'll be right back."
I jog upstairs into my bedroom, looking at the closet curiously. Formal? Casual? Eh. I forget the circumstance and just dress normal, with some blue jeans and and a soft green, long-sleeve blouse that falls off my shoulders. I kick off my slippers and pull on my high-top Chuck Taylors, ready to go back downstairs.
"Better," says Elena. Oooh, a compliment? Sounds so odd, coming from her mouth. I pull the front part of my curls into a little bun behind my head.
"Yeah, thanks."
Elijah stands. "We need to prepare if things go wrong," he says. "Damon, you're going to need to create a mental barrier if Cara's memories do affect her personality. You can't let it get in the way if we need to get serious and/or physical."
Damon scoffs. "You're looking too far into this. Nothing like that is gonna happen."
"Day, it's pretty possible..." I say, touching his arm. He sighs and is about to retort when there's a knock at the door. Showtime.
"I think it's better if you turn away at first, Cara," Elijah says, walking towards the door. I nod and walk down into the parlour, facing the wall feeling Damon stand protectively at my back. Elijah opens the door and I sense another strong presence in my home.
"Brother," Elijah greets wearily. "We need to discuss terms before-"
"Cara Ann, turn around and let yourself be reminded of who you are. Who I am," Klaus calls to me. I stay quiet.
Damon steps back so I can feel my head rest between his shoulders. "Not before you tell us what you want," he says.
My body stiffens when I hear and sense KLaus step closer. "My sister back. That's all I'm asking for. You'll see, I have no intention of bringing harm upon any of you."
Biting my lip, I speak directed to Elijah. "Can I turn around now?" But before Elijah answers Damon and Stefan step facing me. Damon pulls me to his chest tightly before kissing me hard and whispering an 'I love you.' Then Stefan takes me in his warm embrace and runs his fingers through my hair before whispering in my ear.
"Just because you're getting another brother doesn't mean you're losing one." He kisses my head and I have to hold back tears. This shouldn't be a goodbye.
"Elijah?"
"Yes Cara," he replies. "Meet Klaus."
I take in a breath and turn around. I'm met with bright blue eyes, light freckles, dimples and a strong jaw lined with blonde hair... Nik! I run to him smiling widely and he he picks me up. We're both in tears. My brother is back! I'm back! It feels so good, my family, my history, everything... it's all coming back! He sets me down and I see his eyes line with red liquid.
"Cara," he breathes. "I've missed you so much, sister."
I smile but look at his eyes in confusion. "I missed you too, Nik. But.. why are your tears red?"
Klaus lifts his hand to my face, wiping my cheek with his thumb and showing me the red liquid. "It's blood. We're crying blood."
Damon jumps at that in confusion. "What the hell? Why?"
I turn around to face my love. "I think.. I think it's a bond we have." I look to my brother for confirmation. "Right, Klaus? Didn't you teach me that when the connection is deep enough you switch from salt tears to tears of blood?"
"Yes, that's true." He says. "But I'e never experienced this myself..."
"How come this hasn't happened between us, Cara?" Damon asks, almost sadly with a bit of jealousy. I shrug and kiss his cheek before turning back to wrap my arms around Klaus again.
"Thank you for coming back," I mutter to him. He pulls away and steps back nodding to the other people in the room, lingering on Damon.
"Of course I came back. Now please, your mate looks weary and confused. Comfort him."
"My..." I shake off his comments and walk towards Damon, placing my hands on his shoulders, up to his neck.
"I don't know if you're you right now," he mutters. "The only things I've heard about your brother over there is that he's an evil minded savage..."
"Day-" he almost cringes hearing me use a nick name. Oh my, "I'm still me. Klaus has only done those horrible things to find me -which I will scold him for later. But please, I still love you and we're still the same us we've always been." I pull him in and stand on my tip=toes hugging him tightly. He's hesitant at first, but soon pulls me close and lifts me to his height.
"I'm so relieved," he sighs in my hair. "I love you too fucking much to see you any other way that how you are now."
I grip his neck tight before letting go, and I run to my other brother.
"Stefan," I hug him tightly. He smiles and lets me go. I see Elena, sitting quietly on the couch on her cell phone with an annoyed look on her face. Memories of what Katerina has done to betray Klaus and I flood back and my dislike for her turns almost to hatred. I ignore her and stride over to Damon, motioning the others to join us.
"Stef, I think it's time you say your goodbyes to Elena." I say. "IN order for Nik and I to break our curse, we're gonna have to..."
"Um, I'm right here!" Elena jumps up and yells.
"I'm fine with that," Damon says. "I'd rather her die and you guys be happy that keep her around. Let's be honest, that was none of our real concern around this situation. Bonnie and Caroling can deal without her, we could adopt Jeremy and I'm sure Stefan will find someone more suitable."
"Tell us how you really feel, babe," I laugh. "Sounds like a plan. Stefan? You game?"
Before he can answer, I look at his confused face and remember another detail about his life. "Wait! Before you say anything, you should know, you were once in love with my half-sister Rebekah. You were actually at the point of asking her to marry you. But we all went our separate ways and she compelled you to forget about her. But I promise, once she comes back into town, you could have that again! She's so much better than Elena!"
Klaus and Elijah both nod and Elijah happily agrees. "She's been pining over you for almost sixty years, Stefan. Rebekah needs you, she loves you. Take the chance."
Stefan doesn't even glance at Elena when he processes. "Well, she did treat me like crap, went after my brother, brought way too much unnecessary drama, looks like Katherine, and frankly the sex wasn't even very good... I was gonna dump her soon anyway-"
Suddenly, completely enraged, Elena smashes the bottle of tequila on the table. She runs up to Damon (of course) and slices into his arm, then sucks at his wound. What the hell? Before we know it, she pulls away, slits her throat killing herself and drops to the floor.
Well it looks like it wont be too easy to kill her, now.
A/N: Uh oh. Vampire Elena coming your way. Also, this story is coming to an end. Leave your reviews telling me what you liked, hated, want more of... sequel?
