Chapter12

The girl sat down at the chair raising her head to look at the three people who were sitting in front of her. There sat Erza and 2 other people she didn't even know who are them. She gulped as she sat straight on the chair as she tried to get rid of her nervousness and tried to get the job fair and good.

"Lucy Heartfilia…?" she heard the first one speaks up as she moved her attention to his side and answered.

"Yes?"

"You studied business and worked in the US as well." She nodded her head slowly as she looked at the man that was talking. "Why did you come back anyway?"

"I had some problems and… I just needed to come back to my hometown." She answered slowly.

"Very well, then… why would someone like you who has worked in business end up working as a secretary?" the woman that sat besides Erza said as she looked at the blonde girl.

"I…" the girl paused as she looked at the woman. "I need this job… even if it's only for now."

So, it's not permanent?"

"… It might be."

The blonde closed the door behind her letting a long sigh squeezing her eyes shut.

"Tell me, did you take the job?" Lucy jumped in surprise as she became startled of the sudden voice that popped so suddenly near her. She opened her eyes to realize that it was Juvia's voice and then she let out a sigh in relief.

"Erza had asked me a lot of question which made me very nervous." She said while trying to balance her breath.

"Yeah, of course she is Erza-san. She has to be 100% fair in this thing, but I'm sure you will get the job. I heard Erza says that you are the only one who continued the business courses." Juvia smiled as she patted her friend's shoulder and grabbing her arm.

"I hope so,"

"Hey Lucy, come on. The lunch break is about to start. Let's go eat like old days." The blonde started walking together with the blue haired girl.

"I needed to ask something." She said while looking at the ground and then looked at the blue haired girl. "Why wouldn't Natsu be there even there when it's his secretary?"

"Well, you see… Natsu trusts Erza in everything. Because of this trust, everybody thinks that one day Natsu might leave the chair of the CEO to Erza and she will never betray his trust." Juvia said as she looked at the blonde in back. Lucy felt that this talk was a little impossible for anyone to believe but in her eyes, she knows Erza so well and how reliable she can be. Natsu's trust for her didn't come from nothing; they had built this trust in so many years they have spent together. They weren't normal friends, they were more than friends. And the biggest prove that she would never betray this trust, she didn't let her friend pass the interview this easily. She kept on asking her so many questions until she couldn't keep talking anymore.

She sighed trying to forget about what happened to her in that room.

Knock

"Enter," the pink haired guy said as he kept looking in his laptop+ not raising his head even to look at the person to have come inside of the room.

"Natsu, I finished." The redhead came in as she smiled at Natsu who was busy working.

"And your choice?"Natsu asked but didn't get an answer. He raised his head to look at the redhead girl who was silent afraid of answering. "It's Lucy isn't it?"

"Natsu, Lucy didn't just study business. She had worked in a very huge company back in there in America." Natsu got taken by what she was talking about and focused a little to it. "She said that she had left the job and came here to Japan,"

Natsu didn't say anything in back and kept staring at her as if she said nothing. Leaving a job in a big huge company didn't concern him as much as it concerned him of why she would return after all these years and if she is really talented, she could have searched for another job not a secretary. Natsu let out a calm sigh and looked back at his work.

"Okay, let her take the job."

"A-Aren't you concerned about why she left her other job?"

Natsu raised his head for a second to look at the redhead. "Why would I care about something like that?" The girl was taken aback by what he said and tried to find herself an exit to run away.

"Y-You might be curious…"

"I'm not curious about people's life, Erza." She lowered her head slowly to look at the ground. Even the mighty Erza can be weak sometimes because of this cold hearted salamander. Natsu has become really cold because of love and because of it his nickname was cold because the beautiful ladies that worked with him never had an effect on him.

"Anyway, thank you." The pink haired guy looked back at the papers and started writing once again. He was a workaholic but it wasn't because he wanted to success in his job, it was just because he wanted to stay away from being dominated by his father who forces him to do everything he wants. Not to mention, he forced him to get married. But after her death he had decided to stay away from everyone that was related to his family and make his own company together with his friends to be a successful person who doesn't need his daddy in anything.

"It's alright; I will go for the lunch break now. Do you need anything?"

"No," he calmly said without removing his eyes. He felt her coming to his desk as she put some file on his desk.

"This is Lucy's CV, if you are curious to read." She quickly walked away and closed the door after getting out. And inside the room, Natsu looked at the file for a moment. He didn't know what was all this about. It wasn't as big deal. She is just going to be a secretary not his wife and everyone was just watching him from faraway waiting him to get to the point when she comes to the work and see how he is going to treat her. Is he going to return to his old love or he is just going to take a revenge on her and kick her out.

People were just bothering themselves about his private life like they were a part of it and was going to get hurt when he gets hurt. Natsu has decided in so many decision that he thought of it being the best for him and for his child but people kept their noses inside of his life and telling him that he's going to regret it. He thought that he would get a better life if all these people had just left him alone because he is the only one that is going to carry the result of what he decided. It's not a very hard thing to do your business away from him.

Natsu grabbed Lucy's file and kept looking inside of it and started scanning it. It was a very helpful CV and was actually showing how good this woman is. Actually Lucy wasn't normal thing in the society, she is a part of a huge group in America like Erza said and very good at business back then in the college. She was a great help in so many things she had done until now but, that really started to get Natsu's concern and started to ask why she would leave all this and come to here. If is it about love? No, in his opinion Lucy would never do something like that. You ask why? Because Natsu knows Lucy more than anyone else. That's true they haven't spent their rest of life together but, he knows exactly her inside.

He closed the file and tossed it to somewhere on the desk backing again to his work.

"You were really harsh on Lucy, Erza-san." The blue haired girl said as she looked at the redhead who was standing before her and next to her the blonde Lucy.

"Forgive me Lucy; I couldn't help myself when I saw your CV." Erza said as she looked at her friend. "But anyway, you got the job."

"You are awesome Lucy!" Juvia said happily.

Lucy didn't seem really happy because of that but was actually thankful for them because she needed a job since she was unemployed and in the moment she is going to accept whatever comes to her.

"But there was something that was actually bothering me. Why would you work as a secretary?" the redhead asked as she carried the tray and walked along with her friends to their seats. "It's weird."

"Would you believe me if I told you that I want to be with you guys?" the blonde Lucy smiled softly as she looked down at the wooden table that was in front of her. "Being all alone in a country without any person with you is a terrible thing."

Silence spread in the place as both the women looked at her kinda becoming happy of what she said. After all, she is still their friend who they knew all along and didn't change at all. Erza smiled as she stretched her arm out to grasp her shoulder.

"You should be happy, Natsu had already approved for your job." She stated slowly surprising the woman at what she said.

"Erza, you hid it all along?!" the blonde girl looked at the other woman who was smirking and laughing.

"Well, I just wanted to see that reaction after all." She said as she laughed.

"You're mean Erza-san," Juvia said looking at her.

"Thanks God, I felt like I'm going to fail because of your questions." Lucy thanked god and felt relieved at what she just heard. They had sat in the cafeteria for minutes already and the redhead kept that and didn't tell her anything. She was wondering how she was able to hold it.

"Well," the woman's face changed as she stared at her face. "I want to know that Natsu had accepted your job and I want to know that if he wasn't convinced with it… he wouldn't have accepted it." She continued as the other women's face changed.

Lucy's face turned into a frown as she started seeing Natsu's image in her mind. She realized it now; she realized that if he didn't like it he would have disapproved after all. But when you think about it, you will find out that Natsu is way too different from the one she had known all along. He is different from that kind person who would do whatever she wants and whatever she asks for. So he knew that she is going to be a big help in their company and nothing else.

"I… know that Erza," she said slowly looking down at the wooden table.

"…"

"I know that if Natsu didn't think that I'm capable to it, he wouldn't have let me… work in here." She stated slowly as she squeezed her hands together. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly as she felt like her heart tightened.

"Do you know why I asked you to work as his secretary?" she snapped her head towards the redhead as she was surprised by that question. All she knew that Erza knew that she needed the work and all nothing else. Was there another reason?

"W-Why?"

"I…" Erza started as she looked at the other direction trying to pull the words out. "I believe that you'll be the one to protect Natsu and get him out from what he got himself into." Silence spread in the place as Erza said that. She moved her head to look at the woman once again.

"I believe that you'll be the one to melt Natsu's frozen heart."
