Breathe Me In
He'll be here any minute.
Any minute now.
The flight landed half an hours ago, he reminded himself. He didn't know if that made him more nervous or not.
The old woman who was waiting next to him smiled at him, understanding.
He talked to her earlier about his brave husband, coming back home after months and months of being away, fighting a war that wasn't his- but he felt like it was. And he felt like it was his duty to fight. So he fought.
A running figure appeared at the wide, distant doors.
Kurt didn't have to see the uniform, let alone the man's unshaven face, to know that the first person exiting the doors would be the one he's been waiting for. His hand clenched tighter onto the flowers he held.
The figure grew bigger and bigger as it ran forward, carrying a rattling suitcase. Kurt could see him looking around frantically, and called out, "Blaine!"
His head turned immediately, and a smile bloomed on his face like the first flowers of a spring after a long, hard winter. He started running faster, looking all but silly with his suitcase swaying behind him and just his free arm spread out, but Kurt didn't care; he ran and far as he was allowed to go, spread his arms out as well and caught Blaine between them, squishing the flowers to hold on as tight as he possibly could.
Blaine clang to him like a drowning man hanging onto a lifesaver, not even kissing him yet, just holding and gripping and not letting go even when people shouted around them words of both dismay and content, even when people started flowing from the doors and surrounded them.
They stayed in each other's arms for what seemed like forever, an island of peace in the middle of the hectic airport, just breathing each other in.
