Like I promised here's a new chapter, the next one is almost done now that Letters in finished although the epilogue isn't completely written ^^

Chapter 38

"Where do you want to go?" Logan asked Veronica when they got into his car, he did not want to push her and decide for her.

"Jake's house, I want to find what Weevil was looking for last night."

"How do you think you're going to do that ? I don't think there will some big flashing red narrow pointing to a thing in particular in Lilly's room."

"Thank you Captain Obvious, I may be blond but I'm not your average blond as you know it. When I want to find something I usually do and believe me I'm not giving up until I find it and if I have to trash the room I'll do it."

"Are you okay?" he suddenly asked her. It was not like her to talk like that.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be okay? I bet on her and lost time now time to move on." She said, as if it was nothing. "Logan believe me I'm okay, A part of me of me knew it wouldn't work, she didn't want to become sober. I didn't really think she would change like that especially after wat shed id, that woman isn't my mother, not the mother I remember. She used to be great and loving mom now she's an alcoholic who lies and cheats in the hopes of gaining something. She almost destroyed my dad's life as well as Jake's life with her lies." She said in a detached voice, as if she was talking about someone else's mother.

"You aren't going to make me believe you aren't hurt."

"I'm hurt, but not as much as I could have been if I had thought she would complete her program at the rehab center. Logan my mother isn't like yours, Lynn fought to become sober whereas mine didn't care enough to fight, that's the way things are. I'm not going to cry because she didn't care about me enough to change. It's her loss, not mine, I have a great life and I don't need her in my life."

"Okay, but if you ever need to talk about it, I'm here."

"I know, aren't you the perfect boyfriend?" she asked with a little smile as she played with the hair at the the bottom of his head.

"I hope so." He replied with a smirk, parking in the Kanes' driveway. "I love you Veronica and no matter what happens, you're my other half."

"I love you too, but you're starting to sound like a girl, you need to do something manly."

"So where do we look first?" Logan asked Veronica, putting away the cushions so he could sit on the chair.

"I don't know, I guess pretty much everywhere, you look in her closet while I look into her drawers and desk." She answered already looking into a drawer, her mind is set on finding something, anything that could help them.

Two hours later, they were still looking in Lilly's room, finding nothing, sighing, Logan stopped what he was doing to look at Veronica who was still searching.

« Veronica, why don't you take a break, we've been searching for nothing for the last two hours."

"Who cares about how long we've been searching for…." She started to say, before suddenly stopping. Logan worried about her, walked towards her, looking over her shoulder he only saw a pen, Lilly's secret pen, the one she used to use to spy on Celeste or pass to Veronica with pre recorded messages on it. "That's what Weevil was looking for, it's been right under my nose since the beginning, but I hadn't realized it until now."

"Okay, but why would he want that pen?"

"That's the one million dollar question and the only one who can answer to it is Weevil."

"How do you think you're going to get an answer to that question, he's in jail in case you forgot."

"I know but remember who's my father, Lamb will let me do pretty much everything so as not to piss off daddy dearest."

"So you're going to see Weevil."

"Yes." She said in a tone that meant only one thing, she would do it no matter what, the stubborn mode was on.

"I'm coming with you then, I'm not letting you meet Navarro without me being present."

"I don't need to be protected!"

"I know that, but I'm going to do it whatever you want it or not."

"Okay, but you let me do the talking."

"Twice in a day? What have I done to deserve that?" Lamb said, seeing Veronica talking to Sacks along with Logan.

"I want to talk to Eli Navarro."

"Why?" Lamb asked, looking at her and then at Logan.

"Because I want to, do you want me to call daddy, I mean Jake Kane sorry." She said in a sweetly fake voice.

"Now that you're a Kane you think you've got some kind of carte blanche, a right to poke your nose in other people's business."

"I never needed his permission to do that now can I talk with him or not ? Do I have to call my father?" she asked pulling her cell out of her bag.

"No need to get on your high horses." He told her, "Sacks take them to the holding cells."

Sacks opened the door and let Veronica in the room, reminding them of the rules before leaving them alone.

"I want to know what was written on the paper which was in this pen, the same one you were looking for last night and found the only thing missing is the paper you found and took. You see there was always a piece of paper in that pen, either blank or with a message on it. I want you to tell me where it's." Veronica said as soon as they were alone.

"Wow you really should write novels with such an imagination."

"Cut the crap Weevil! I want to know why you were in Lilly's room looking for the pen."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

"What about your tattoo." Logan said talking for the first time since they had walked into the holding cells.

"I've got many tattoos."

"The one with Lilly's name, the one you try to hide every time you aren't wearing your jaket."

"My little sister's name."

"Really, because I don't recall your grandmother ever mentioning a granddaughter called Lilly, but she did mention her Weevil seeing a nice girl. Lilly told me she was dating someone before she died and even if I can't understand how you two could date, I know for sure you're the one she was seeing before her death. »

"And what if I was?" Weevil said, leaning against the bars to look at Veronica.

"Then you'd have the answers to some of my questions."

"What questions?"

"The ones about the man harassing Lilly and yes I knew about it. Who is he?"

"Ask Ritchie Rich then." Weevil said looking at Logan. Veronica turned around and looked at a puzzled Logan.

"Wait a minute, I didn't do anything, what does it have to do with me, I didn't even know there was someone harassing her until you told me. Ronnie, I swear I don't know anything or even did anything, you've got to believe me."
