A/N: I noticed that a lot of you guys were really hating on Bella from the last chapter. I find that understandable, but Bella is still young, she's 18. She wants to live her life and spend it not having to be a vampire. Granted, they still live in a world where Shadows still take over humans, but she's so headstrong and stubborn enough to try to defeat the odds. :)
Anyway, that's all I had to say about that. Carry on!

I turned to him, my hands glowing red and blue, saying, "I don't want to lose you either, but if there was an option for you, I wouldn't want to change who you are. Because that's who you are!"
I let go and left the room.

I sighed in frustration and ran after Bella. She gasped when I stopped in front of her, but her frown went right back to her face. I held back a smile at her stubbornness.
"Bella, would you rather be dead than have a chance to stay with me?" I asked.
"Yes! I mean, no. I mean," she said, flustered. "I don't know! I just don't see why becoming like you has to be the end for me."
"It doesn't have to be. We could end this fight together."
"Vampires have to have special gifts, right? Aside from being a Caster, I don't have any. I'm not strong, I can't fight, I barely made it out alive in my own house when the Shadows attacked, and that's because my powers saved me. I won't hold any more contribution to your family. I'll just be dead space." Tears filled her eyes, and she looked down. Her strong demeanor fell then. "I'd rather be dead then do that to you and your amazing family."
I took her in, holding her tightly.
