Chapter 2: OMG (feat. will. ) by Usher.
Yeah that's right… I have some Usher on my iPod. Got a problem with that? Let's fight then! Please don't hurt me… I have a wife and two kids. There name's are Luke and Leia. And I may or may not have strangled my wife before she went into labor which caused her to die after giving birth. What? No I'm not explaining what happens at the end of Star Wars Episode III. This a true story… completely. Oh shit I have people to thank. I would like to thank ExplosiveDiarrhea, TechnoNerdDefeat, Sirzapertin, The Crossover Guardian, DGL-30 and HYBRID BATTLESHIP INFINITY210 for favoriting/following this story. It is now quite literally my most liked story for whatever reason. I hope I can continue to deliver.
"... What do you mean? You're 23 years old?" She asked him. The stallion shook his head.
"I am actually 21 years old", he stated. Twilight's look of confusion grew.
"Then what did you mean that you're 23?" She asked.
"I am #23", he repeated. He didn't mind repeating himself though, he was used to it.
"Your name is Twenty-Three?" She asked. He was about to correct her, but then he remembered that Princess Celestia had told him that everypony in Equestria had real names given to them by their parents. He started wondering if he had ever had parents and a real name, but that thought quickly disappeared.
"Yes. My name is Twenty-Three", he said, performing a small bow which was well practiced. Twilight didn't seem to know how to react to the bow, so he quickly got up.
"So… Twenty-Three… could you help me understand this letter?" She asked.
"Yes", he said. He then blinked as he realized that he had automatically responded. It had been a while since he had done that. He'd have to keep himself in check.
"So according to this letter, you're moving to Ponyville, right?" She asked. He paused before answering.
"Yes I am. After we're done here, I will have to speak to the mayor about my living arrangements", he said.
"Well where are you moving from?" Twilight asked him. Twenty-Three thought for a bit.
"You Equestrian's just pronounce it Prance right?" He asked. He noticed Twilight's expression change from confused to surprise.
"Prance? But you speak perfect Equestrian and even your accent… did you live here before there and decided to move back?" She asked him. He shook his head.
"No, I've lived in Prance for…" he paused. "As long as I can remember."
"Then where did you learn to speak Equestrian?" She asked.
"I taught myself", he said. Twilight seemed even more surprised by this.
"Why did you teach yourself to speak Equestrian?" She asked.
"Because it benefited my job to know how to be fluent in Equestrian", Twenty-Three replied.
"So do you still speak French?" She asked.
"Bien sûr, Maîtresse", he replied. He then realized his error again as he didn't mean to add that last part. He looked at Twilight Sparkle… she didn't look like her though. He then remembered that Twilight had been talking to him. "I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I was just rather impressed that you learned Equestrian all by yourself", she said. Twenty-Three recalled Celestia saying something like that. "And then… there's the last thing in this letter that confuses me a little."
"What is it?" He asked. He didn't actually know what was written in the letter.
"Well… it says that I'm supposed to teach you magic", she told him. He stared at her for a bit before putting a hoof to his chin. He had never actually considered learning magic, but it could definitely come in handy if he was going try to start over.
"Alright", he said. "What are you confused about?"
"Well, why me?" She asked him. He shrugged.
"If there's anyone to learn magic from, I'd assume it'd be from the Element of Magic", he said.
"You know I'm an Element of Harmony?" She asked, he noted that her tone seemed to have shifted to one of suspicion.
"Of course. I am on fairly good terms with Princess Celestia and she talks a lot about you", he replied, ignoring the change of tone.
"You're friends with Celestia?" She asked, going back to surprise. Twenty-Three thought it was a little disrespectful that she didn't address her by her title, but maybe they were closer than he thought.
"More or less", he said.
"Oh my gosh… are you a new student of hers?" She asked. He noticed that she seemed worried for whatever reason.
"No. I'm just a stallion who's looking to change", he replied.
"How did you meet?" She asked. Twenty-Three questioned how active her mind must be to be able to switch around so quickly. It was probably from the studious life she had lived. He was about to tell her but then he remembered that he still had things to do.
"I'll tell you the next time we meet", he said, turning around and leaving. "I still have stuff to do."
"Huh?" She asked, not expecting the sudden departure. She ran after him but by the time she got out of her room, he was already walking out the front door. She sighed in slight frustration before turning to Spike. "Hey Spike, can I ask you something?"
"Of course Twilight. What is it?" Spike answered.
"Did you notice that throughout our conversation, that his fa-"
"Face never changed?" Spike finished for her. She nodded her head.
"Okay, so it wasn't just me…" She said. Spike's face lit up as an idea came to him.
"What if he's a cyborg Twilight?" He asked her. She stared at him for a bit.
"Those 'half pony, half machine' things that are in those sci-fi books that you read?" She asked, emphasizing how ridiculous it sounded.
"They are not in all sci-fi books. But come on Twi, the face and the voice. What else could be the reason?" Spike countered.
"I don't know, but he's not a cyborg. Cyborgs aren't even realistic. Ponies and machinery don't go together. Ponies and bionics do however", Twilight explained. Spike crossed his arms and huffed, a little smoke coming out as he did.
"I still say he's a cyborg."
(With Twenty-Three)
Twenty-Three looked around him. Many ponies were out right now, going about on their daily routines. Some took notice of him standing in front of the library but most ignored him. He was faced with another dilemma as he didn't know where town hall was. He'd have to find a town map somewhere.
He sighed as he started wandering again; looking for a building that looked like it could be a town hall. He walked for a good 15 minutes before he somehow arrived at a secluded building. It didn't look anything like a town hall would be, but if a library could be a tree than maybe this could be town hall. This was proven wrong though as when he walked up, he saw a sign. It read 'The Carousel Boutique'. This actually got his interest so he walked in. When he did, a little chime sounded. He heard hoofsteps and looked around where he was. This confused him though as he couldn't figure out if this was a home or a shop. He was thinking about how ridiculous this was, until he remembered that Twilight both lived and worked in the library.
'Maybe Equestrian's live where they work? But wait, what about co-workers? Would they live togeth-' His thoughts were interrupted as a mare walked in. She was a white unicorn, who had a purple mane and tail. He noted that her mane and tail were curled by hoof, not naturally. She also wore make-up and fake eyelashes. She oddly reminded him of home. She was wearing red designer glasses though.
"Sorry sir, but I'm currently closed for the next couple of days. I will open after Nightmare Night though, if that works for you", she told him
"Do you live here?" Twenty-Three asked her, ignoring what she had just said.
"Uh… yes, yes I do", she said. She looked a little taken back by his question.
"Interesting. And that room that you just came from, is that where you work?" He asked, curious as to what she did.
"Yes, that is where I work", she said, turning around to glance at the room. But when she looked back, the stallion had disappeared. She started wondering if she had been working for too long again, until she heard hoofsteps behind her. She turned around and saw the stallion entering her workshop. She was confused as to how she had missed him walking by her. She shook her head and ran after him, saying, "Excuse me sir!"
He was doing a simple walk through, eyeing all of her dresses that weren't quite complete yet. He stated, "You seem quite busy."
"Yes, I am very busy", she replied, hoping he would take the hint and leave. He didn't, and kept looking around. She sighed in frustration but found herself studying the stallion. She found herself quickly drawn to his eyes. They scanned her dresses, each and every detail being captured, but never showed a change of expression.
"This is good", he stated at the final dress, then he started working his way back, giving his opinion on all the dresses as he went. "This is good. Good, good, good. This doesn't pop enough; use a brighter accent of red. Good, good. Switch the sapphires with amethysts on this one. This one's too contrasting. Good, good and good… except that you're going for a 'mysterious night' feeling but I'm getting more of a 'wonders of the deep' kind of vibe. Try to use more purple instead of blue."
And with that, he left, leaving Rarity in a jaw-dropped state. She had never had that happened to her. Nopony just walks in on another pony's workplace, critiques all of their work and then leave!
"Who does that stallion think he is?" She asked Opal, who gave a 'meow' in reply. "Exactly, it's rude and disgraceful."
However, the designer in Rarity couldn't help but look at her dresses in a new light. She gasped in a mixture of shock, realization and horror. All that the stallion had said… was true. Rarity didn't know what to feel. She looked out the door to see the stallion disappearing from sight.
"Who… was that?" She asked out loud, only to be given no answer.
(With Twenty-Three)
Twenty-Three wandered with some sense of urgency. He was kicking himself because he had forgotten to ask for directions. He made another mental note to find a town map as soon as possible. It took him another ten minutes to find a building with 'Town Hall' on it. He walked in and walked up to the secretary. She was typing on a typewriter and continued as he stared her. She eventually stopped and looked at him as he stared back at her. They stared at each other before the secretary cleared her throat.
"Is… there something you need?" She asked him. He nodded.
"I need to see the mayor", Twenty-Three told her. She went back to her typewriter.
"I'm sorry, but the mayor is currently busy and you need to schedule an appointment beforehoof if you want to see her", she replied monotonously. He stared at her for a bit before remembering his fix-all solution. He rummaged through his bag before pulling out the letter given to him by Princess Celestia.
"I have this letter from Princess Celestia", he told her. Her hooves slammed onto the typewriter and she swore, looking over the now jumbled line she had made of odd letters. She looked to him at first with anger, but then saw the letter in his hoof. She snatched it from him and unrolled it. She looked towards the bottom to see the seal. Her eyes lit up with realization with what he assumed to be realizing that he actually had a letter from Princess Celestia. She frantically went to a thing with a button on it and pressed the button.
"Ms. Mare, there's someone here to see you", she spoke nervously into some kind of microphone. There was a rustle as if someone suddenly jerked.
"Huh? Wha? But I told you I'm in the middle of something important", a mare's voice replied back from… somewhere.
"He… he was sent by Princess Celestia", the secretary said. There was a pause before more sudden rustling noises.
"Wh-What? Send him in immediately!" The mare almost yelled. The secretary handed him the letter back and pointed him in the direction of the mayor's office. He thanked her and walked towards the mayor's office. When he walked in, he was confused as to why she was just sitting there, smiling at him. She looked like she hadn't been doing anything important. That was when he saw it… her nameplate on her desk. It read 'Mayor Mayor Mare'. He stared at it, trying to figure it out. It stared back at him, mocking him and tormenting him. He was so lost onto the nameplate that he didn't hear her try to get his attention the first few times. He shifted his focus to her.
"Is something the matter?" She asked him. He glanced back to her nameplate before shaking his head.
"No. Everything is completely normal", he told her. She probably didn't even know the terror that was sitting on her desk right now.
"So, what could I help you with?" She asked him. He again, briefly glanced at her nameplate.
"I was told that I have residence in Ponyville now, assigned to me by the Princess", he said handing her the letter… which meant getting closer to that monster. She briefly skimmed the letter and smiled.
"Alright, you're a little earlier than expected but we do have the house just for you Mister…" She said, seeming to remember that she didn't know my name.
"Twenty-Three. My name is Twenty-Three", he told her.
"... Well it's nice to meet you Twenty-Three, my name is Mayor Mare", she replied. He stared at her. He nodded slowly.
"So where is my new home?" He asked her.
"It's house number 529 on 23rd Street", she answered, pulling out a key and hoofing it to him. He stared at her further.
"Oh… could you show me on a map how to get there from here? I still don't know this town well", he asked of her.
"Of course I can", she pulled out a map from somewhere and a quill with ink. She marked town hall with her quill. "We are here right now. So what you're going to do is go this way and that way followed by a turn here and then we go along this way before going this way and there we are."
He was thankful that he had her show him visually because that explanation almost killed him. She had marked the entire way to his house on what was the quickest route. He thanked her, quickly snatched the map and made his way out of her office. She watched him go with a questioning look on her face.
"I hope he realizes that he needs to turn the map around", she says.
(Back with Twenty-Three)
He shut the door behind him as he left Town Hall. He wiped his non-sweaty brow and sighed. That was a dangerous place. He glanced at the map and tried to get his bearings right. He then satisfied himself that he knew where he was going and headed on his way to his new home.
It took him about 5 minutes to reach his new home. It looked similar to all the other houses but it was more than he had ever owned. He walked up to the door and pulled his key out to open the door but a voice interrupted him.
"Um, excuse me", he heard behind him. It was definitely a mare and she sounded almost foreign. He turned around to see a light gray mare with a dark gray mane and tail, also having purple eyes. She was carrying some sort of case on her back to what appeared like a cello.
"Yes?" He replied.
"What are you doing at my house?" She asked him. He stared at her before looking towards the house and then back to her. Mayor Mare Mayor Mare… however it went, hadn't told him that he'd have someone else living at his house.
"This is my new home. I assumed you would have been informed", he told her. She stared at him.
"I don't remember ever hearing nor agreeing to such a thing. Are you sure you're at the right house?" She asked him. He nodded and brought up the map.
"I followed the directions that… the mayor gave me on this map", he explained. She looked over the map before looking at him.
"You do know that this map is upside down, right?" She asked him. He looked at the map. He turned it around in a 180 and stared at it.
"The map was in fact upside down", he told her, probably reassuring her. She just stared at him before smiling a bit.
"Well I do hope you find your actual house soon", she said to him. He nodded and began walking away. "My name is Octavia, by the way. What's yours?"
He stopped in his tracks and looked back at her with his blank face.
"Twenty-Three", he said before continuing on his way.
It took him about 10 minutes to find his new home. This time, he was not impeded as he unlocked the door and entered his new place of residence. He walked around a bit, giving himself a tour before setting his bag down in the bedroom. He looked outside and noticed that it was the afternoon, still plenty of time left in the day. He wondered what he could do before noticing a book on the nightstand next to his bed. He picked it up and read the title.
"How to move past traumatic events", he read before opening to the cover page. There was a little note that read 'Hope this helps- Princess Celestia'. He stared at the book before sighing and opening to the first page.
"Trauma est mieux décrit comme des expériences ou des situations qui sont émotionnellement douloureux et pénible, et la capacité de qui accablent les gens à faire face, les laissant impuissants", he began reading, translating the Equestrian into French to make him feel a little more comfortable.
Well that was quite a fun chapter. I hope y'all enjoyed it. I even took the time to post it during my finals week. But my two math finals were today so fuck everything else then. I am pretty much completely turned off from high school. And then I got to go to college. Attending California State University East Bay if any of you were wondering. I've also been considering joining a recreational soccer team this summer before I leave and possibly getting an internship with the Sounders. I can dream can't I!
