A/N alright I know way to long for update shame on me I know, but I have the last chapter finished I am editing it now and should have it up by Sunday night.
CHAPTER 32 War
Naruto along with the rest of the jinchuriki walked down the main road of the camp toward the command tent. Once they reached it and entered they found the Kages siting at a table going over maps and plans.
"Well if we divert our supply lines here…" the Mizukage began but stopped as she saw their new arrivals. "Ah Fox good to see you."
"You as well Mei." Naruto said "so it seems you guys have everything ready." Naruto said looking out the tent door.
"Yes we are getting ready to move on to the battle area in a short while." The Raikage said "But this won't be like any other of our wars seems this will all be decided in one all-out battle."
"Well better than some long drawn out war." Naruto replied
"The problem is we don't know what to expect." Gaara said "We have no idea where this army is to do recon, or anything else they may have up their sleeves."
"Yeah but what we do know is they have those white Zetzus and four tailed beasts." Naruto replied "So we can deal with the tailed beasts if you keep the Zetzus off of us."
"Alright then that will be our plan we will support and cover you while you deal with the tailed beasts." The Raikage said "Tomorrow is the dead line for us to turn you over and that is when the battle is to begin."
"Alright we will rest up for the battle." Naruto said as each of the Jinchuriki went to their own village leaders.
That was when Tsunade walked up to Naruto and said "well I guess I'll go check on the medical teams are coming along. You should come as well I know a little pink medic that has been waiting for you."
"Lead the way." Naruto said with a smirk, as he followed her toward the medical area. Once they reached a large tent with a red cross on it Naruto could hear a familiar voice that made him feel lighter inside. Once he walked in he saw Sakura standing in the middle of the tent with a clipboard telling people where to go and how to set things up, and at her heel was a white fox.
"Hey bring those bags of blood over to the cold storage area at the far end." Sakura called out to someone.
"Where you want me?" Naruto called out with a smirk as she just froze and turned around and her face lit up.
"Naruto-kun!" she cried excitedly as she ran over to him and hugged him "I've missed you so much." She said as she pulled away from the hug.
"Yeah I've missed you as well." Naruto said as he leaned and kissed her.
"Ah come on guys if you're going to do that get a room." Came Kuza's voice in a sickened tone
"Oh leave them alone, they are mated after all, and it is their first time being away from each other for an extended period." Kira replied
"Still have a little self-restraint is all I'm saying." Kuza shrugged
"Well maybe when you finally find and settle down with a vixen. You will understand." Naruto shot back at him as he pulled away from his kiss with Sakura. "but maybe you're done searching?" he said with a smirk glancing over at Kira. Getting Kira to look over at the black fox with a bit of shock
"I have no idea what you're talking about." Kuza stuttered as he turned around and walked out of the tent, as Naruto just chuckled to himself
"Why do you have to tease him so much?" Sakura asked
"Because he did it to me." Naruto replied
"What do you mean by he is done searching?" Kira asked hesitantly.
"Sorry, I may love giving him shit but he is still a friend and I can't talk about his personal stuff with other's." Naruto replied then squatted down to her. "But I will say this, don't look so down." He said with a small smirk and got up and headed out the tent.
"What does that mean?" Kira said confused looking up at Sakura.
"Just that you shouldn't give up." Sakrua said with a smile as she followed after Naruto 'god don't tell me I was that blind?'
"Yes you were." Inner replied shaking her hand
'Retorical.' Sakura shot back at herself. As she caught up with Naruto while on their way to one of the food tents, and sat down.
"Hey can we get some food over here." Naruto called over to the server as he sat down at the bar.
"Yeah of course" Said a girl with brown hair said "oh Fox how are you?"
"Oh hi there Ayame. What you doing here?" Naruto asked
"Making ramen obviously." Ayame replied sarcastically
"Ah right." Naruto smiled at asking a dumb question. "But doesn't your dad need you back in the leaf?"
"Well our shop wasn't hit by the attack and the ninja's here need to eat too." Ayame said "and since there are a lot of villages here maybe we can get some publicity, for our shop."
"Ah so that is the real reason, now can I get five miso porks." Naruto replied
"And I'll take a chicken." Sakura replied as Ayame went off to make their meals. "So how have you been?"
"Great finally got that crazy fox under control." Naruto replied
"I can always change that." Kurama replied
"You can never control the voices." Inner cried out in both their heads.
"Right the mental connection." Naruto replied.
"Oh yeah now I can tell you all the dirty things I've planned for us." Inner said with an evil grin, as Sakura began to blush and shake her head.
"Ah no nothing it's nothing." Sakura stuttered
"Besides we can save that stuff till the victory party." Naruto said with a sultry smirk.
"Fine I guess I can wait little longer." Inner sighed
"I'll be looking forward to it." Naruto smirked getting Sakura to blush.
"Well ah, ah." Sakura stuttered "I still have somethings to get done at the hospital tent but we set up a private tent. Down on the west side of the camp you should be able to find it." Sakura stuttered out as she went beat red and rushed out the food tent back to the medical tent.
"Sakura wait." Kira shouted as she jumped off her stool went after her.
"You just have to always tease your mate like that don't you?" Came Kuza's voice as he walked out of the shadow and on to the stool where Kira had just been sitting.
"Oh but of course, it must be the fox in me." Naruto said with a smirk as his bowl of ramen was put in front of him.
"Ah where did Sakura go?" Ayame asked holding her bowl of noodles.
"She had to run back to the medical tent, can you box that and the rest of my order up and get us two orders of fish rolls." Naruto said with a smile as she went to get a box and the sides.
"Wait why the fish rolls?" Kuza asked as the take out was placed on the counter
Naruto picked up the rest of his order and looked at Kuza "Can you take Sakura's food to her and the fish rolls are for you and Kira to share." He said with a smirk getting.
"Hey…" Kuza began but was cut off
"Just go bring their food to them, I would suggest you eat your dinner with her. But I can't make you." Naruto shot back as we walked toward the west side of the camp, when he got there I got a wiff of a familiar smell as he walked in.
'Wait she said we.' He remembered as he was crushed in a suffocating hug.
"Oh Naruto you're back." Came Kushina's voice as Naruto began to turn blue.
"Can't breath." Naruto choked out begging for air.
"Honey put him down let him breath." Minato said
"No I'm never letting him go again." Kushina said as she tightened her grip "first I died, then I came back my baby was all grown up and has a bride. Then he leaves for some training with that demon I was cursed to carry. So no I'm never letting my baby go again." Just then there was a yellow flash and Naruto was no longer in her arms but standing next to Minato.
"Hey if you will lose me again if you kill me." Naruto replied catching his breath.
"He is right honey." Minato said calming her down.
"Alright fine." Kushina said "But once this war is over we are having some much needed family time." She said in a scolding motherly tone.
"Alright fine." Naruto said holding up his hands in a surrendering tone.
"Good." Kushina said with a smile.
"Now I gotta rack out, it was a long trip and big fight tomorrow." Naruto said with a yawn and stretched, as he headed to one of the cots.
"Wait for me." came Sakura's voice as she walked into the tent. "Dealing with an entire army's medical needs is exhausting."
"I bet." Naruto said as they both made their way to the cot.
"Oh right sorry I forgot to get you guys some food." Sakura said
"It's alright." Minato said "seems Naruto brought enough for us." As he opened one of Naruto's extra boxes of ramen.
"My ramen." Naruto said as tears began to fall, as he watched his parent eat his food.
"Oh get over it." Sakura said as she began to pull him toward the cot "They can't go out and get their own food since everyone thinks their dead."
"Then why are they here if they are trying to stay below the radar?" Naruto asked
"You think we would pass up an opportunity to get back at the bastard who killed us?" Kushina shot at him through a mouth of ramen.
"Well guess that is where I get the attitude from." Naruto smirked as he was pulled on to the cot and felt Sakura curl up to his side with her arm over his chest and leg hiked up around his leg.
After only a few minutes he was passed out.
The next morning Naruto woke up to Sakura curled up at his side as he looked around to see his parents in a cot on the far side of the tent. Naruto then slipped out of Sakura's grip and got up while she still slept. He went over and began to make some coffee when he noticed a third cot with a ball of black fur and a ball of white fur on it, that gave Naruto a mischievous smirk. He then walked over to the black ball of fur and squatted down.
"Hey fuzz ball wake up." Naruto said as he shook his little friend.
"What do you want?" Kuza asked not lifting his head or opening his eyes
"Oh just wondering why you and Kira are sharing a rack if you don't have any feelings toward each other?" Naruto asked
"Only one left she gets the head of the bed I get the foot of the bed." Kuza replied "So get your mind out of the gutter."
"Now you see I would." Naruto said with a pause "if that was your positions on the rack, but you are both in the middle of it."
"What are you…?" Kuza began as he opened his eyes to see a ball of white fur right in front of himself with their noises nearly touching. At seeing this he jumps straight up and out of the bed sending it sliding into the tent wall, waking Kira up.
"What's going on? Are we under attack?" Kira ask as she and everyone else woke up to the commotion.
"No just Kuza having a nightmare." Naruto grined taking a sip of coffee. "Sometimes you wake up like that when it is a bad one."
'Oh poor thing.' Kira thought as she looked at Kuza who had his hair on end ready for a fight.
'I really do hate you sometimes.' Kuza thought about his old friend. 'but thanks for the cover story.' He sighed to himself as he calmed down
"Well now that everyone is awake I made coffee." Naruto said as he went to the small card table that was set up in the center of the tent.
A few hours later Naruto along with the rest of the Jinchuriki stood in the middle of a large open plain, staring down a man in a swirling orange mask.
"So all gathered up to be collected." Tobi said
"Nah we came here to kick your ass." Naruto replied "or your face which ever you prefer to go by."
"Very well then I will have to take you by force." Tobi said as the large nine eyed statue rose from the ground. "and let's skip the warm up shall we?" he said as the one, three four and five tailed beasts where released from the statues mouth.
"Not a problem on our side." Naruto shrugged as the other jinchuriki activated the power of their tailed beasts, and each turned into their sealed partners. "time to take of the kid gloves." He said as he was enveloped in orange chakra and he took on his sage form, and charged Tobi while the rest of the Jinchuriki took on the captured tailed beasts.
"Oh no I am not your opponent." Tobi said as he made a few hand seals and the massive statue stood up. "I have someone else to deal with." He said as he swirled away.
"Damn't he got away." Naruto said looking to were the ring leader had been. Then looked up at his new opponent. "Well time to go all out." He said as he released the fox's chakra and a flaming form of a the nine tailed fox made up of orange chakra appeared with Naruto inside the forehead. "Let's do this." He said as the giant fox lunged at the statue and their locked hands.
Meanwhile on the far side of the battlefield Sakura stood with Kira and Kuza on either side of her awaiting to start tending to the wounded, while the white Zetzus moved toward them.
"Kuza why are you here and not with Naruto kun?" Sakura asked
"Well he wanted to be sure you were safe and seeing how she doesn't have any real combat experience he asked me to stay by your side." Kuza said gesturing toward Kira who tried to protest but was cut off by a massive surge of chakra coming from Naruto's location and they saw all the massive tailed beasts in their true forms. "And I wouldn't stand a chance in that fight." As they saw a massive nine tailed fox appear in the distance the Zetzu's made their attack and the cries for a medic erupted below.
Sakura ran around the battlefield tending to the wounded and sending them back to the rear. Just then she saw a sight that made her blood run cold. down on the ground was Neji holding a large gash across his stomach.
"Help me." Neji called out as Sakura ran to him and began to inspect the wound.
"What happened?" Sakura asked, as she looked closer at the wound
"Out of nowhere." Neji began.
"Sakura no!" Kira yelled as she tackled Sakura just before a Kunia came slashing up cutting across her side staining her white fur in red.
"What the hell Neji." Sakura said as Neji got up and started to move toward her
"It's not Neji." Kira said wincing in pain as Neji began to turn in to one of the white Zetzu's as he stalked toward them. "He smelled like one of them."
"Then I'll deal with him…" Sakrua began as she got up but stopped as she saw a black spike sticking through his chest. She looked past the Zetzu to see Kuza shaking in rage and his eyes glowing red.
"Don't ever touch my vixen." Kuza stammered in rage. "Let the darkness consume you and be gone from my sight!" he howled as he was consumed in black chakra and grew twice his normal size and two more tails erupted from his back.
"My god." Kira said in shock "Run get everyone out of here now!" she yelled at Sakura
"What?" Sakura asked
"No time to explain, just get everyone out of here." Kira yelled
"Everyone fall back!" Sakura yelled to the rest of the ninjas "Get away from him!" she yelled as she scooped up Kira and began to run followed by the rest of the ninjas. But as she was running a dark shadow appeared under her and she began to see the shadow grabbing ahold of the other ninjas and before they were pulled into the darkness they turned into Zetzus and vanished forever.
Once they were a good distance away Sakura set Kira down and began healing her. She asked the question "the hell was that?"
"He just jumped two tails." Kira replied "When a fox gains another tail his power grows by however many number of tails he has. So before he had six and I have five he was six times stronger than me. so when he gained his seventh tail he was seven times stronger than what he was, then eight times stronger than that when he gained his eighth. Our bodies can handle the change from one tail to another because we have conditioned our bodies for the next one but he just jumped two." Kira explained
"So his body won't be able to handle it?" Sakura asked
"I've heard of this happening a few times before." Kira said lowering her head "None have survived. They go into a fit of rage from the rush of chakra rushing into their system. Not making the distinction between friend o foe."
"But he did." Sakura said remembering seeing the ninja turn into a Zetzu before being pulled under "He only targeted Zetzus and one disguised as ninja. So deep down he still has his mind but I don't know for how long."
"You mean he is still in there?" Kira asked looking at the black eight tailed fox raging in the distance.
"Yes and I think you are the only one who can bring him back." Sakura said as Kira looked up at her in confusion.
"Why me?" Kira asked as Sakura gave her a smile
"Didn't you hear him 'don't ever touch my vixen'" Sakura said "He loves you now go down there and tell him the truth of your feelings, before he is lost forever." She said as she finished healing her.
"Right." Kira said as she stood up and ran off toward Kuza, and Sakura turned toward the rest of the wounded
Kira made her way over the dark shadow Kuza had stretched out through most of the battlefield consuming all the enemies it touched. Kira walked up behind the now massive Kuza, and called out to him. "Kuza calm down. Please." She begged as he turned toward her his eyes glowing red, and bared teeth. Just then she started to sink into the darkness as well. "No please snap out of it, this isn't you." She cried as she was pulled further down. "No don't do this, I know you are in there. Down deep the fox I love is in there." She cried as she was enveloped by the darkness after a moment in the darkness there was a blast of white blinding light. "And I will not let either of us be consumed by this darkness." She snapped as she grew twice her size and a sixth tail began to emerge from her back.
She then tackled him and they wrestled on the ground biting and scratching each other. Kuza then threw her off of him him as she rolled across the ground and she struggled to get up as he stalked toward her. "No I won't let it end like this." She launched a beam of white light from her mouth that was met by a black beam of energy and it exploded as they met and she was sent flying across the ground, as she rolled to a stop she shrunk back to her normal size. She looked up to see Kuza standing over her at his normal size and his eyes no longer glowing.
"When did you ever think a six could take on an eight?" Kuza asked
"Didn't need to beat you only knock some sense into you." Kira replied
"Such a fool." Kuza said as he shook his head with a smile and fell down.
"Well I guess we are both fools." Kira said as she crawled over to him and nuzzled her head under his.
Over with Naruto and the rest of the jinchuriki were locked in an epic battle that was smashing the landscape making it unrecognizable. Naruto and Kurama were battling the massive statue.
"Damn't we need to take this thing down if we want to free the rest our brothers." Naruto said as a massive ball of sand fired at them and they had to dodge as the two tails attacked the one getting him off his back for a moment.
"Even with the others help they are still getting in our way." Kurama said "We need to cut them off from the statue somehow."
Just then Naruto noticed a black rod sticking out of the back of the one tails neck. "There that rod has got to be how he is controlling them like pain was controlling the dead bodies." Naruto said "If we can remove that we should be able to free him."
"Even if we do that he may just become crazy and attack us any way, because he is free and doesn't know what is happening." Kurama said
"Maybe if we seal him somehow." Naruto said
"I may be able to help with that." Came a new voice as they looked over to see Gaara floating on a cloud of sand.
"Gaara what are you doing here?" Naruto asked
"Whether I like it or not Shikoku and I are connected, if you can seal him in me I can take him out of play." Gaara explained.
"Think it will work?" Naruto asked
"Maybe if he seals him, that will free up Matatabi to cover us while we take down this statue, and the others keep the others occupied." Kurama said
"Right it's a plan." Naruto said
"Alright I'll hold off the statue, Gaara you remove the control rod and Naruto will seal Shukaku inside you." Kurama said
"Right." Gaara said as he formed a sand claw and gripped the control rod and pulled it out of Shukaku. That was when Naruto went through some hand signs and placed his hand on Gaara's back.
"This is going to sting a bit." Naruto said chains ripped out of his hand and forearm, and tore through Gaara's back as he let out a scream and the chains slammed into Shukaku and began to draw him into Gaara. "ok a bit more than a sting." He said as he drew the tailed beast into the red head.
Once it was done Gaara dropped to a knee on his sand cloud gasping for breath.
"Can you make it to a safe place?" Naruto asked
"Yes I think so." Gaara said as he drifted away.
"Alright let's finish this." Naruto said as he turned toward the statue and they went full force on the statue beginning to smash and crack it with no interference from the other tailed beasts.
Kurama pinned the statue to the ground and charged a bijuu dama and released it right in its face destroying it while also destroying the control rods in the other tailed beasts freeing them and knocking them out at the same time.
"Alright we did it" Fu cried out in joy as they all reverted back to their human forms.
"It's not over yet we still need to take care of the ring leader." Naruto said as he looked out on the rest of the battlefield.
Kakashi cut down yet another Zetzu clone. He had just watched a pair of foxes fight it out to the western flank while the tailed beasts fought to their north.
'This is just mind boggling.' Kakashi thought to himself as a man warped from out of no where wearing a swirling mask. Kakashi jumped away at the last second just missing the man's slash.
"Still as quick as ever." Tobi said from behind his mask
"Have we met before?" Kakashi asked
"Yes in another life." Tobi said as he warped away and appeared at Kakashi's side but missed again. "Ah that was a close one wasn't it, but your senses won't be able to save you every time."
'It's almost like I can see where he was going to attack right as he attacks.' Kakashi thought to himself as he dodged all the attacks trying to figure out why. 'His warping is similar to my Mangekyo Sharingan, there must be some connection.' He thought and then it hit him. "how do you know me?" he demanded.
"Oh I think you have finally figured it out." Tobi said as he began to remove his mask "I swore revenge for breaking the promise you made to protect her." Once he removed the mask Kakashi was frozen at seeing his long dead team mate Obito staring back at him.
"How are you still alive?" Kakashi asked in shock
"The real Madara Uchiha helped me after I was passing on to the next life. He brought me back and trained me in preparations for resurrecting him." Obito explained "But that was dashed when the Fox brat, defeated Pain. Now I can't even use Orchimaru or his technique since he also killed everyone who knew the resurrection technique."
"Yeah he tends to through wrenches in plans." Kakashi said.
"The only thing I asked in return was to help protect the women I loved, but you not only failed to protect her, but killed her before I was strong enough to do it." Obito spat as Kakashi lowered his head in shame. This gave Obito the opening he was looking for and he warped away. As he came out of his warp he was about to strike but out of nowhere black flames split them apart as Obito jumped back looking over to see Sasuke standing there with his Mangekyo Sharingan activated.
"Damn't Kakashi sensei I thought you were better than that leaving such a wide opening to an opponent." Sasuke said
"Oh Sasuke." Obito said in a bit of confusion "didn't think you would want to help the leaf after what they put your brother through."
"I had a long talk with him about that, and he convinced me that he wanted to protect the village no matter what and to honor him I will continue his dream." Sasuke replied
"Ah so then you brother is gone then?" Obito replied
"Yes the over exertion of the Mangekyo finally caught up with him but he gave me the gift of his eye so it won't happen to me." Sasuke smirked "So I can go all out on you, for the hell you put him through."
"No." Kakashi broke in "this fight is mine." He then gave a look to Sasuke that demanded he not be argued with.
"Very well this one is yours" Sasuke said nodding his head in understanding.
"Good go help them deal with the Zetzus." Kakashi replied as Sasuke and his team jumped off to do what was asked of them.
"Oh going to take me on alone?" Obito asked "You can't keep up I will get a hit in when you are weak enough."
"Then let's finish this together." Came a new voice as two hooded figured landed next to Kakashi. At hearing this voice Kakashi's eyes bulged in shock.
"I heard Pain resurrected you, Sensei" Obito said "It is a shame you don't join me to make this a perfect world."
"I don't know what your plans are but they must not be good if you are going about it this way." Minato said as he pulled his hood down.
At seeing this Kakashi turned to the other figure "Rin?" Kakashi asked in a hopeful tone as a tear began to fall from his eye.
The figure turned to him "I'm sorry little Kakashi but no." She said as she pulled the hood away revealing the red hair of Kushina.
"Right of course not." Kakashi sighed disheartened
"Kakashi this is no time to start feeling sorry for yourself." Minato said to his pupil.
"Right." Kakashi said as he stood up and looked at Obito "You are a threat and a traitor to your village, I'm sorry but you must be eliminated."
"Well then let's see if you have what it takes to kill me like you did Rin." Obito spat as he charged and vanished.
"Minato sensei left side." Kakashi called out as Minato dodged at the last second.
"How can you see my attacks?" Obito demanded
"My eye is your eye they are connected, I can see your attack as you do it." Kakashi replied
"Well I guess surpise attacks won't work then." Obito shrugged as he charged at Kushina.
Kushina then went through hand signs and launched her chains at him but they passed through him. At that moment Minato vanished and appeared above Obito as he was bringing down a rasengan but it passed through him as well. In that instant Kakashi activated his Mangekyo on the rasengan and it exploded launching Obito into the ground. He then vanished and appeared again across from Kakashi
"How did that hit me?" Obito demanded as he was holding his side, but Kakashi had already activated his chidori and was charging at him. "That won't work!" Obito yelled as Kakashi's hand passed through him but then he spat out blood and Kakashi pulled his hand out of him, as he fell to the ground. "But how?"
"Since you gave me your eye when you died I realized they were connected and I sent the attacks to the dimension you vanish to just before it hit so it would hit you in there while you were trying to avoid it." Kakashi explained.
"Damn't in my rage I was blind to not see the connection you did." Obito coughed as his life faded for the last time.
"Good bye old friend." Kakashi said as he just broke down and fell to his knees and cried.
On another battlefield Kiba and Hinata was fighting off hordes of white Zetzus.
"Damn't there is no end to them." Kiba said as he tore through another one and Akamaru barked after killing one as well.
"Oh stop whining and just kill them." Hinata shot at him as she used her gentle fist to finish them off. Just then there was a flash, and a number of the Zetzus fell down dead. They looked over to see Sasuke standing there with his sword drawn.
"Pathetic." Sasuke said as she shethed his sword.
"Sasuke behind you." Karin yelled as a Zetzu in disguise jumped at him and was killed by Hinata.
"Always having to save your ass Uchiha." Hinata scoffed.
"Whatever." Sasuke shrugged waving her off.
"Oh why that." Karin began to fume but was cut off as another disguised Zetzu jumped up and attacked her but was torn apart and Kiba was standing in front of her where the enemy had been.
"You really need to stop letting your guard down because of him." Kiba said.
"Oh what do you know?" Karin scoffed as she began to walk away
"I know you will never be with him." Kiba replied
"What do you mean?" Karin asked as her eyes shadowed over as she gave him a death glare.
"He doesn't care about other's feelings no matter how much you throw yourself at him." Kiba said "He had that when he was in the village, girls tossing themselves at him and stepped over them. He only cares about power and statues. If you weren't so blind you could see it as well." Kiba spat at her
"Why you." Karin began but was cut off.
"Karin can you sense the original?" Sasuke asked, knocking her out of her thoughts.
"Oh ah yes two miles north of here." Karin said.
"Good Kiba Hinata, you can tell the difference between them and regular people, follow me we are taking this thing down for good." Sasuke said
"Whatever." Kiba scoffed
"Only because you need me to cover your ass like always." Hinata sighed as they followed him Karin and Jugo to a large tree where they saw a tree with a single Zetzu in the middle of the trunk of it.
"Alright let's finish this." Sasuke said as hundreds of Zetzus crawled out of the ground "Keep them off me while I destroy this one."
"Ahhhhahh." Jugo yelled as he went into his cursed form and started tearing through the enemy
"Like I said covering your ass." Hinata said as she used her gentle fist and Byakugan to cover him.
Kiba and Akamaru used their fang over fang and ripped through the enemy around them as the tree erupted into black flames. Slowly the Zetzus began to weaken and die as the tree was consumed in the flames.
