Cat: Here! Chapter 31!
Rena: Sorry that our whole schedule is out of whack and everything is being released so late! Can't say when i'll be able to get back on track but i'll try to make this a priority!
Cat: Anyway, please review, favourite and follow if you haven't already!
Rena: But, most of all, ENJOY! :D
Cat: This story is in Yuzu's POV. Please give me some artistic licence. If i put some stuff that isn't in the anime in here, don't flame. There would be no point in reading, if it was just the anime in words.
Chapter 31- Howling Whirlwind!
"Yuya!" I cheered along with the rousing crowd, as their shouting and hollering became louder and louder as the match got closer and closer to starting. They all wanted to see Yuya's pendulum summoning. I wanted to see Sawatari's butt getting kicked again.
I didn't feel threatened by Sawatari at all anymore. He just gave a vibe of being a pawn in someone else's game which we, unfortunately, were also all tied up in and Shun and Yuto too. But that still didn't mean I had forgotten when Sawatari and his goons had trapped me, Futoshi, Ayu and Tatsuya up a crumbling skyscraper.
To say I wanted revenge sounds really strong and horrible but I never really dished back any pain to the snob. I was going to, but then Yuto duelled him instead and that was not the kind of pain I wanted to inflict any human being with, even if they were Sawatari Sneer-Face. I wanted Yuya to put him in his place.
Then, an unfamiliar tune began playing through the stadium and someone wearing a feudal-era cosplay walked into the arena. He even had the wicker hat and everything.
"The cards are calling to me!" he announced, in an annoyingly familiar voice. "They are telling me to draw! Another star has risen to the heavens! Behold! Duelling's greatest star!"
I would take this moment to say that Yuya's face was a picture, if I wasn't making one myself. We could take the pictures of every person in the stadium and sell them as artwork and make a fortune.
The Swordsman sniggered. "Do you know who I am?"
Yuya blinked and fixed him a look of 'really? Seriously unimpressed over here!' "Sawatari, right?"
"Wrong!" he announced, tearing off the cloak to reveal that he was in fact… Sawatari…
"I am Neo New Sawatari!" he grinned, as if he was any different from before.
"Neo New?" I groaned, realising that Sawatari may claim to be different but was still exactly the same. Because everyone knew that 'Neo' and 'New' meant exactly the same thing. Even Yuya knew it and he pointed it out, not that Sawatari was paying him any attention.
"Sakaki Yuya! I have quite a few grudges against you!" Sawatari shouted. "First: You stole my Pendulum cards and defeated me with them! How disgraceful!"
"You stole them in the first place, remember?" Yuya yelled.
"Second: You had an XYZ doppelganger injure me!"
"But that wasn't me! Besides, I heard you weren't actually injured!"
"Third: You attacked and injured my dear father! There is no greater disgrace!"
"That wasn't me either…"
"Mark my words, Sakaki Yuya. You will lose this duel and face the greatest disgrace ever! Pendulum summoning may have lead you to victory up till now but today, it will be your path to defeat."
"I'll lose to Pendulum summoning?" Yuya demanded, looking taken aback.
"There are rumours that Leo Corporation is independently developing Pendulum cards."
"I'm going to get my hands on those…" Sawatari pointed at Yuya. "And defeat you!"
I had forgotten about that whole conversation, it felt like such a long time ago. The memory popped into my mind and I ground my teeth together. Sawatari had something up his sleeve.
"Field magic on! Field magic: Ruined Castle of the Sunset activated!" Nico shouted, snapping his fingers. The Action Cards scattered over the field and vanished. The duel had begun.
"I'll let you go first!" Sawatari called.
"My turn!" Yuya snapped, not letting Sawatari change his mind. "When neither of us control any monsters, I can normal summon this card from my hand by reducing its level by one! I summon Entermate Drumming Kong! I set one card and end my turn!"
"Now, Sawatari Shingo, your legendary Revenge Duel has just begun!" he whispered to himself, even though we could hear him through the amplification. Perhaps his duel with Yuto had given him more damage than we thought? He was acting so weird and it was only his first turn! "My turn! Draw! I activate the Continuous Magic: Youkai Shrine of Trials! Whenever a Yousenjuu monster is summoned or special summoned, I can light up one Yousen counter!"
"Yousen counter?"
"And now I summon Yousenjuu Kamaitachi from my hand! When Kamaitachi is special summoned, I can summon another Yousenjuu besides Kamaitachi from my hand! Come! Kamanitachi!"
"Furthermore, when Kamanitachi is special summoned, I can summon another Yousenjuu besides Kamanitachi from my hand! Appear, Kamamitachi!" Sawatari sniggered. "Being able to summon multiple monsters at one isn't unique to Pendulum summoning! I've summoned three Yousenjuu monsters!" Three candles on the shrine behind Yuya's opponent lit up.
"Th-That's kinda creepy…" Ayu muttered.
"That deck might be pretty strong!" Tatsuya said.
And that was an annoying factor about Sawatari. He was one of the richest kids in the city so, no big surprise he had a whole new deck for this match. But the problem was, Yuya knew nothing to expect but Sawatari knew Yuya's deck quite well.
"I activate Kamaitachi's effect! When I control another Yousenjuu monster, I can return one of my opponent's cards on the field to his hand.
"What!?" Yuya squeaked, as he picked up the card and placed it back in his hand, leaving his field wide open, which my dad pointed out loudly.
"If he gets attacked now-!" Tatsuya cried.
"Let's go! Battle phase! I attack directly with Kamaitachi!" Sawatari screamed triumphantly, as if he had won already.
"Yuya!" I screamed, as he took off sprinting.
"Continuous trap! Entermate Pinch Helper! This card negates an opponent's direct attack when activated! And it also allows me to special summon from my deck an Entermate with 800 or less attack points with its effects negated! I special summon Entermate Kaleidoscorpion in defence position!"
"Fine then, I'll just activate Kamanitachi's effect!" Sawatari gloated as Yuya told him that Kaleidoscorpion had much higher defence points than Kamanitachi or Kamamitachi. "This card can wage a direct attack by cutting its attack in half!"
"Then that means he'll just pass through the defending monster like it was nothing!" I cried, as Yuya began running again.
"I won't let you use an Action Card!" Sawatari leered. "Battle! I attack directly with Kamanitachi!"
Yuya couldn't have been in a worse place to receive the blow; having just jumped onto the moving draw bridge, he flew off and landed on his shoulders with a sickening thump into the unfilled moat.
"Too bad…" Sawatari looked down on him. "Next up, I activate Kamamitachi's effect! When another Yousenjuu deals damage I am allowed to add one Yousenjuu monster aside from Kamamitachi from my deck to my hand. I add Yousenjuu Ooyamabiko to my hand! And, after that, the Shrine of Trial's effect activates!"
"What? But I thought it only gained counters when monsters were summoned to the field…" Ayu muttered.
"It's a different effect," Sora replied simply. "One that requires the counters he's gained."
"Once per turn I can use three Yousenjuu tokens to add a Yousenjuu monster from my deck to my hand!" he claimed, as he pulled another card out from his deck. "I add Mayousenjuu Daibakaze to my hand! It wouldn't be fun if I ended this so soon, so I place one card and end my turn. Then, the three Kamaitachi brothers are returned to my hand at the end of the turn they are summoned!"
"What? He's leaving himself completely wide open for an attack!" my dad cried.
It's a trap. It's a trap and he knows it. But what's he supposed to do?
"Let's go! My turn! Draw!" Yuya announced. "I, using the scale 1 Magician of Astromancy and the scale 8 Magician of Chronomancy set the Pendulum Scale!"
And then, the crowd went ballistic. This was what they were here to see. It must have hit them now, if Pendulum summon wasn't real and was against the rules, it wouldn't be appearing in the JYC ran by LDS. Pendulum summoning was the real deal. Yuya was the real deal. And, in my mind, Sawatari losing was already a done deal.
"Pendulum Summon! Come my monsters! Entermate Drumming Kong! And with its radiant duel-coloured eyes, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
"If Yuya-niichan attacks directly with Odd-Eyes and Drumming Kong, he'll win!" Tatsuya cheered. I blinked, wishing it would be that easy for Yuya. But this was Sawatari Shingo. He wouldn't make such a careless mistake without case… Right?
"It looks like a trap, no matter how you look at it," Sora smiled, crushing the younger boy's spirits while liking his lollipop.
"Let's go! Battle!" Yuya shouted, jumping onto Odd-Eye's back. "I attack directly with Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!"
"I activate the effect of Yousenjuu Ooyamabiko from my hand!" Sawatari held up the card. "When my opponent declares a direct attack, I can discard one Yousenjuu card from my hand and summon this card!"
"I knew it…" I muttered, as the monster appeared on the field, with… '?' attack points!?
"An unknown attack?" Yuya asked, as he stared up at the colossal monster.
"Ooyamabiko's attack is the same as the original attack of the monster it battles!" Sawatari smiled, as the numbers changed to 2500, to mirror Odd-Eye's attack of the same numbers. "Since I have successfully summoned a Yousenjuu monster, I can light one counter!"
"I'm not done yet," Yuya snapped, as Sawatari continued to taunt him. "I activate Drumming Kong's effect! Once, during the battle phase, it can increase the attack points of one of my monsters by 600! Go, Odd-Eyes!"
My heart soared as I saw Sawatari's irritated expression. He didn't have a counter in his well-schemed plan and his monster toppled immediately.
"Due to Odd-Eyes' effect, battle damage dealt to a monster of level 5 of higher is doubled!" Yuya told Sawatari, (though, as if he needed reminding from the last time they duelled) and he was sent for a tumble, rolling and rolling after losing 1200 points of damage.
"I activate Ooyamabiko's effect! When this card is destroyed by battle, I can add another Ooyamabiko to my hand!" Sawatari roared, pulling out another card and revealing it to be a duplicate monster.
Yuya scowled. "I end my turn."
Sawatari smirked, as Yuya began to run again. "Sakaki Yuya! Now, you will come to fear the power of Pendulum Summoning!"
"Fear the power of Pendulum?" I asked, leaning back in my seat. How was he going to do that!?
"I summon Yousenjuu Kamaitachi from my hand!" Sawatari declared, as the monster appeared for the second time. And, sparing the details of all the different effects, the other two brothers were re-summoned, Kamamitachi and Kamanitachi. "And also, I activate Shrine of Trial's effect! With three more Yousenjuu monsters I can light three more tokens!"
"This is exactly the same as his last turn!" Ayu cried.
"I attack directly by halving Kamanitacji's attack points!" Sawatari announced.
"Huh? He's not using Kamaitachi's effect?" I asked, wondering how much brain the duellist contained in his head. Perhaps it roasted under the cosplay hat he'd been wearing earlier?
"Seems there's a reason for that…" Sora's eyes narrowed.
Yuya shot up into the air, holding desperately onto a pole that protruded from the large Action-field-produced building, swinging around to gain momentum. Squinting, I could just make out an Action card hidden in the cracks. However, Yuya was seconds too late and he was once again blown away and landed painfully, the Action card blowing away in the wind.
"And now Kamamitachi's effect! When another Yousenjuu monster deals damage to my opponent, I can add a Yousenjuu monster from my deck to my hand. I add the Pendulum monster Yousenjuu Sarenshinchuu to my hand!"
"Pendulum monster!?" I squeaked.
"There are rumours that Leo Corporation is independently developing Pendulum cards. I'm going to get my hands on those and defeat you!"
"I activate Shrine of Trial's effect! By using three Yousenjuu counters I can add one Yousenjuu monster to my hand! I add the Pendulum monster Yousenjuu Urenshinchuu to my hand!" Sawatari told us all. "Sakaki Yuya, just like I told you, Pendulum Summoning will be the path to your defeat! I using the scale 3 Yousenjuu Sarenshinchuu and scale 5 Yousenjuu Urenshinchuu set the Pendulum Scale!"
"I activate Urenshinchuu's effect! When there is another Yousenjuu monster in the other Pendulum zone, its scale raises to 11! With this I am able to summon monsters between level 4 and level 10 simultaneously!"
"Seriously, did Sawatari buy all these cards and made their effects up!" I exploded. "He's re-written every rule! He's cheating!"
"Yuzu-neechan…" Ayu whispered, passing me a large drink of soft drink that she had bought earlier but hadn't drunk. "That's what everyone was saying about Yuya-niichan before… It's not fair if we say that about Sawatari…"
"Well, Sawatari doesn't play fair, so why should I be fair to him!?" I snapped, sipping on the juice and sinking down in my seat, fuming.
"Pendulum summon! Come forth, Mayousenjuu Daibakaze!" Sawatari roared, a humungeous beast looming behind him. I nearly spat my drink out as I saw the 3000 attack point mark.
"Shrine of Trails gains one counter!" Sawatari tried to say over the crowd, who were drowning him out.
"We knew this would happen someday but for someone to learn it this soon!" My dad moaned.
"And not only that! That monster is level 10!" Tatsuya wailed.
"That's it! Scream! Cheer more! The fun has just begun!" Sawatari screamed, drunk off the crowds cheers.
"That's Yuya-oniichan's line!" Ayu screamed, as we all felt our blood boiling to new temperatures. I had never, ever, ever wanted to smack someone over the back of the head more with my fan. Yeah, even more than Hochun-fortune telling girl.
"And I don't just have Pendulum summoning in my arsenal! I am going to go beyond it! I activate Daibakaze's effect! When this card is normal or special summoned, I can return two target cards from my opponent's field to their hand! I return your Magician of Astromancy and Magician of Chromancy back to your hand!"
"Now Yuya-niichan can't Pendulum summon anymore!" Futoshi wailed, as the two majestic mages disappeared.
"I'm not done yet! With Daibakaze on the field, I can activate the Continuous trap Dizzying Winds of the Yousen Realm! Any non-Yousenjuu monsters that have been returned to the hand are now sent back to the deck!"
This isn't looking good…
"And on top of that, I pay 800 life points to activate the continuous spell: Yousen Tornado! I end my turn! But my turn doesn't simply end! Let me show you the Sawatari Legend Combo!"
I cringed at the name of his new 'combo'.
"Yousen Tornado's effect is when a Yosuenjuu monster is returned to my hand I can return one card on my opponent's field and back to their hand! And the Dizzying Winds of the Yousen Realm effect means that they will be sent back to the deck!"
That is one nasty combo with one nasty name.
"The three Kamaitachi brother's return to my hand during the end phase! With this, Yousen Tornado's effect returns three cards to your hand and then back to your deck!"
"More and more cards are being wiped off Yuya's field!" I wailed.
"Only Odd-Eyes remains!" Gongenzaka gasped.
"Daibakaze effect activates! At the end of the turn, this card is returned to my hand! Bye-bye Odd-Eyes!" Sawatari said, as the combo hit Yuya's monster like… well, a tornado and sent it back to the deck.
"I am Neo New Sawatari! The man who will give birth to a legend!" Sawatari screamed.
What!? You can't give birth! You're a guy! That was probably the most awkward word choice out of him yet, even though I did get where he was going at.
"Finally, Urenshinchuu's scale setting returns to normal," Sawatari ended.
Yuya had no monsters on his field and only one card in his hand. And it looked like he had already given up…
"Wait! Yuya… is smiling!" I told them, as they stared at me as if I had gone as senile as Sawatari.
Well, if I had gone crazy, the Yuya had gone completely bonkers. He was smiling like a little child at Christmas as he drew. "I set two cards and end my turn!"
"Huh? That's it?" I asked.
"If I don't have any cards… I'll just have to look for more!" Yuya announced, as he precariously jumped his way up the poles sticking out from the sides of the walls and arrived on higher ground.
"Huh?" Sawatari stared.
"Yuya!" I shouted.
"Don't worry! His eyes are full of strength!" Gongenzaka cut me off.
"The fun has just begun!" Yuya announced to the whole crowd, which set them off cheering again, as he sprinted further in-field.
Cat: Sorry if there's any mistakes in anything...
