Chapter 10: Sleep
Alice sighed as she leaned against the door, letting her head fall back. Who knew that rocking the Twins to sleep would be so hard? Alice sluggishly walked back to Blood and her room. When she opened to the door she was surprised to see Blood up, and reading a letter.
"Blood? You were up?" Alice asked, walking over to her husband. Blood merely nodded; not bothering to glance up. Alice frowned. Since when was he so intent on work? Alice walked to Blood's side, and tried to read the letter when Blood snapped it shut. Alice flinched back and glanced at Blood, who was giving her a dull expression. "No." He said simply. Alice's teal eyes widened before they narrowed. She walked towards her closet and threw it open, grabbing her day clothes and slipping off her nightgown and slipping her day clothes on.
"You could've at least helped getting the Twins to sleep." She said as she walked out, already hearing the cries of her children. She slammed the door behind her. Alice was fuming inside. He was up and he wasn't helping her. Alice rubbed her tired eyes. A week. Or maybe a bit less than a week. That's how much time she's gone without sleep.
Alice slipped Phoenix and Ebony into day clothes and slipped them into their stroller. Quickly filling a baby-purse with their stuff, she put it on her shoulders and pushed them out of the room, only nodding to workers.
Alice walked past Blood's office and she didn't glance at it, keeping her gaze forward and steady.
Soon Alice was on the way to the Clock Tower, when she started to feel dizzy. Alice paused for a minute, gripping her head that was pounding. Her vision started to blur, and it was all Alice could do from falling on the floor.
Alice squeezed her eyes shut as another round of pain made her fall to her knees.
"Alice?!" She heard a voice say. Alice opened her mouth, and that was the last she could remember when her world turned cold and dark.
"Alice?!" Wilfred yelled, running towards the collapsed Alice. He got there and knelt, gently touching her neck. He sighed in relief. He could feel her pulse. Wilfred quickly picked Alice up, and looked down at the stroller. He frowned a bit, before coming up with something.
He gently put Alice down, and moved Phoenix next to Ebony on the bottom seat. He then- very carefully- opened the small compactible roof that blocked the sun and placed Alice on it, with her head towards Wilfred.
"I'm so smart." Wilfred said with a proud smile.
He quickly started to push the stroller to the nearest territory- Clock Tower.
"JULIUS! GRAY! NIGHTERMARES!" Wilfred yelled as he managed to open the door with some difficulty.
"I NEED YOU!" He yelled, as he quickly removed Alice and settled her on the couch.
"I hope you don't mean in a sexual way…" he heard someone say. Wilfred laughed. "Nah. It's Alice though." Wilfred said, turning around to face all three men.
Julius's eyes widened as he saw Alice asleep on the couch. Nightmare's eyes were instantly drawn to the children.
"What happened?" Gray asked, staring at the foreigner he had never met before and the crying Twins.
