A/N: I deeply apologize for having not completed this story in nearly four years. I knew not how the story would have come to an end, and I put it on hiatus. Four years later, I had forgotten all about it until I recently received a review from an anonymous reviewer, thus reminding me that I never finished this story. After brainstorming, I finally came up with a climax, and have written and added it. I will soon follow up with the epilogue.
Smile and Say Cydra Chapter 7: Punting with the Punks
The loud, painful scream echoed through the woods, and caught the attention of the six chipmunks that had gone in hunt of a ritual taking place, in hopes they could find the missing Cydra.
"Did you hear that?" Simon asked.
"How could we not?" Brittany asked, her ears ringing from the sudden burst of noise.
"What was that?" Theodore asked, as he trembled in fear.
"You don't suppose that may have something to do with Cydra, do you?" Alvin asked.
"There's only one way to find out," Simon said, "come on!"
The group took off in the direction they heard the sound coming from. Back at the bonfire, Cydra slowly opened her eyes and found that she had not yet been impaled. Kyle was still scaring her before doing so, and her deafening screams were like music to his ears. Cydra was positioned atop the wooden stake, and she breathed yet another sigh of relief.
"I'm willing to give you one last chance to talk," Kyle said, "you really should take me up on that offer, it will certainly spare your life."
"I'm not sure I have much to live for anyway." Cydra said.
As the chipmunks and chipettes scurried through the woods, they could see a faint glow in the distance, and the smell of smoke was filling the air.
"I have a feeling we're about to find just what we've been looking for." Simon said.
Just on the other side of a thicket of shrubery, the gang discovered the ritual, but were overwhelmed at the sight appearing before them: they could see that Cydra was about to be sacrified, but they could also see they were terribly outnumbered by those who were attending.
"So what's your plan now, genius?" Alvin asked.
"Um, well, actually..." Simon began, nervously, "I... I really didn't think this one through this time..."
"What?!" The others shrieked, catching Cydra's attention as she saw her friends behind the bushes.
"Guys!" She called out to them, drawing attention from the others at the ritual. "You shouldn't have come! It's me they want!"
"They've seen too much!" Kyle yelled, in a demonic voice. "After them!"
"Oh crap." Alvin said.
"Understatement of the year, Alvin." Brittany remarked.
Kyle's minions and friends levitated off the ground and flew over towards the chipmunks, as they screamed and took off in a flash. Kyle then lowered Cydra down the side of the wooden stake, and conjured up ropes to tie her to it.
"I'll deal with you later," he said, clamping her cheeks, "right now, I'm going to make sure these vermin won't be a bother to us anymore."
With that, Kyle disappeared, while Cydra whimpered in dispair. As the chipmunks and chipettes were running, Simon was being met with criticism.
"How could you not think this one through?!" Brittany demanded to know.
"What's the matter?" Alvin asked. "You took a level in dumbass or something?"
"I'm sorry!" Simon pleaded, "but I had no way of knowing the sheer number of vampires we would be dealing with! My thoughts were mainly on how to rescue Cydra!"
"Incoming!" Eleanor screamed.
One of Kyle's minions was swooping in, so the group stopped in their tracks, allowing the minion to miss and swoop by. That was one part of the problem. From behind, they could see other vampires heading their way.
"What are we going to do?" Jeanette cried.
"Uh... split up!" Simon suggested.
"What?" The others shrieked again.
"Maybe if we can split up, we could disorient them and hold them off long enough to lose them!" Simon said.
Just as a band of minions was closing in on the group, they each took off in different directions, causing a crash of clumsy vampires in an opening in the woods. Brittany and Eleanor retreated in the previous direction, figuring that the vampires wouldn't expect them to double back, and in doing so, they found they had returned to the bon fire to find Cydra tied to the stake. The two ran over to their follow frightened chipette and proceeded to untie her.
"Cydra, are you alright?" Eleanor asked.
"No, I'm not alright!" Cydra said. "I was almost impaled, and you guys took way too much of a risk coming out here! You've got all of Kyle's army after you!"
"Kyle? Who's Kyle?" Brittany asked.
"No time to explain, let's just get out of here!" Cydra said.
"I don't think they're following us," Eleanor said, "let's try to get you back home to your parents, they're worried sick about you."
"Suppose they do start following us again?" Cydra asked.
"Just keep moving!" Eleanor insisted as the three took off again.
Elsewhere in the woods, a small number of minions were trailing behind Alvin, however, he had an idea of his own. Thinking ahead, he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a sizable flask of which contained some holy water that he had. Stopping in another clearing, Alvin waited for just the right moment.
"Come and get me, fellahs!" Alvin gloated.
Alvin quickly untwisted the cap of the flask behind his back, and just as the vampires were within a few yards of him, he quickly splashed the holy water onto them, causing them to screech in agony as they dropped to the ground and began dissolving into a pile of steaming pulp. Jeanette, meanwhile, continued running through a different part of the woods, until an exposed tree root tripped her, causing her to fall face forward. Another small handful of minion vampires had been pursuing her, and seeing a new opportunity before then, they levitated her off the ground.
"Let us help you up!" One vampire joked.
"But don't forget," another added, "what goes up must come down!"
Jeanette was slammed back down to the ground, the force of her body hitting the hard ground bruised her ribs. Once more levitated her off the ground, as tears escaped her eyes from the pain she sustained to her ribs.
"What are we going to do with her?" Another minion asked.
"Sacrifice her, of course!" The vampire clutching her by her throat said.
Her nerves firing up, Jeanette began having a nervous reaction. Acid churning in her stomach came bubbling up and spraying out of her mouth as she threw up on her captors. They didn't react at first, not being bothered at all at the sight of seeing someone spil their guts, however, they soon found themselves in agony and dissolving much like the others did when Alvin splashed holy water on them. As Jeanette fell to the ground again and watched the vampires dissolve into steaming piles of pulp, she struggled to make sense of what just happened, until she remembered something that she realized may have saved her life.
"I guess it was a good thing I had garlic knots with my pizza tonight." Jeanette said in relief, but laying back on the ground in stress.
Simon realized he wasn't shaking the other vampires pursuing him, which included Kyle's partner in crime, Elias. Much like Alvin, Simon had a weapon of his own tucked away with him. It wasn't enough to take on the entire clan, but perhaps it would just be enough to take out the ones following him. Once Simon came to a clearing himself, he pulled what appeared to be a water pistol from his belt, and aimed at those who were pursuing him.
"If I were you, I wouldn't come any closer!" Simon yelled.
The vampires laughed as they landed around Simon.
"You think a little toy is going to stop us?" Elias asked. "Face it, kid, you're no match for us!"
Without hesitation, Simon pulled the trigger and sprayed in the faces of those surrounding him. Likewise, they too began shrieking in agony, fell to the ground, and dissolved into steaming piles of pulp. Simon's water pistol contained not holy water, but the syrum he had previously used to restore Cydra and the chipettes back to their original state of mind and body, thus reversing the curse they were under. However, as Elias and the others were true vampires, all the syrum could do was reverse them completely.
Back in the suburbs, Brittany and Eleanor ran Cydra all the way to her home. They frantically rang the doorbell and knocked on the door, hoping to wake Cydra's parents from their slumber, which they did and were overjoyed to see their adopted daughter home again. They immediately scooped her off the ground and embraced her tightly, thankful she was home. They were soon to flood her with countless questions as to what happened to her, where had she been, if she was alright, where he clothes were, to all of which she simply said she had no time to explain any of it. She was then asked if she was in any kind of trouble.
Back in the woods, Theodore cowered in a den he had found at the base of a very large tree. He curled up like a little butter ball, shedding tears of fear, and wishing none of this was happening. Unfortunately for him, Kyle knew exactly where he was. While the minions went after the group, Kyle was up above, witnessing everything that was unfolding. Everything, that is, except for Brittany and Eleanor freeing and making off with Cydra. Had he known that was happening, he would have gone after them himself. But instead, he was witnessing his army chasing after the others. He lamented the loss of his minions to Alvin's holy water, Jeanette's garlic-saturated stomach acid, and Simon's syrum. He knew that he could always form a new army of minions, but for now, he knew that he had the upper hand. Alvin, Simon, and Jeanette no longer had any means of defense, and certainly Theodore didn't. They would be powerless against him now. With that, Kyle dropped to the ground, and closed in on Theodore in the den. Theodore could see the figure approaching his den, to which he began to panic.
"No! Go away! Go away!" He pleaded.
"Sorry, that's not about to happen." Kyle said, as he extended his hand, and used a force to drag a kicking and screaming Theodore out from his hiding place. A scream his brothers recognized.
"Theodore!" Both Alvin and Simon exclaimed from different parts of the woods, as they ran towards the sounds of his brother's distress, eventually meeting up with each other in the process.
"I managed to defeat a number of them with some holy water!" Alvin informed Simon, as they ran.
"Yes, well, I shot a few of them with the syrum I had made as well!" Simon said.
The two ran to the aid of their brother, where they saw Kyle was levitating him off the ground, and laughing demonically.
"Leave our brother alone!" Alvin yelled, as he and Simon closed in on them.
Kyle immediately put out his free hand and caught Alvin and Simon in his force, levitating them off the ground as well.
"Welcome to the party boys!" Kyle said. "Now, don't tell me, let me guess... you're the ones who took Cydra's gift away from her."
"And what gift would that be?" Simon asked.
"The special gift of immortality." Kyle said.
"I take it you're the one who originally curse her then?" Simon asked.
Kyle laughed. "Cursed. Even she didn't know a good thing when she had it."
"She told us all about the things you did to her!" Alvin said.
"Yeah, and they were really scary too," Theodore said, "just like you."
"Of course I'm scary," Kyle said, "and you boys should learn not to mess with me... now... which one of you is the one who discovered this syrum that reverse the gift I gave to Cydra?"
Both Alvin and Theodore were quick to point to Simon and say that it was him.
"Thank you for throwing me under the bus." Simon sarcastically remarked.
"You have got alot of explaining to do," Kyle said, "and afterwards, none of you will live to spread this information any further.
"What do you mean?" Theodore asked.
Kyle then used his power to drain the boys of their energy to the point that they blacked out. At that moment, he was preparing to teleport them back to his torture chamber, but before he had time to do anything, a strange thing happened. A silver arrow struck him through the heart from behind. In agony, he dropped the boys and doubled over. The boys struggled to regain conscienceness, but they could see that Kyle was on his hands and knees with a silver arrow sticking through him. Being more powerful than that of his minions and partner, the silver arrow merely wounded him, rather than kill him. Kyle struggled to stand, but once he was upright again, something else that was equally mysterious happened. A bright light broke through the darkness of the night, literally cooking Kyle to his death. Finally out of Kyle's power, the boys were able to fully regain coherency, and were amazed at what they just witnessed, as the light came closer and closer.
"This must be it," Theodore said, "this must be the end. We're heading toward the light. On our way to heaven."
Alvin began sobbing like a baby. "I was in my prime! I had a full head of hair! My fans will be crazy with grief!"
"Wait a second!" Simon said as he heard a motor approaching them.
Seconds later, a pick up truck drove up next to the boys, with a now clothed Cydra and the chipettes sitting in the bed, with a large, generated sunlamp with them. Inside the truck were Cydra's parents.
"You boys alright?" Cydra's father, Richard, called out.
"Yes, but, how... how did you..." Simon began to ask.
"Hop in, we'll explain everything when we get home." Richard said.
