Yeah so I totally forgot to wish all my Jewish brothers and sisters and non-binary siblings a happy Hanukkah yesterday?
Also since it was the first evening of Hanukka I really didn't feel like writing a Hanukkah drabble.

I did eat a whole bunch of doughnuts though :D

So, yeah, happy Hanukkah to all!

And, of course, happy Thanksgiving to all you American peeps!

(Also sorry but I ain't sorry for the title)

Best of Both Worlds

Apparently, on Thanksgiving evening, it was the second day of Hanukkah.

The loft has seen many weird things, but that night was better than anything those walls have ever silently watched.

On the table there were potato latkes and a roasted turkey; by the window stood a lit Menorah and some jelly doughnuts and an apple pie.

The different smells of turkey dressing and powdered sugar and pie and almost-brunt oil twirled around in the air, mixing with the singing coming from the people around the table; Rachel was teaching them traditional Hanukkah songs, which they all had a hard time pronouncing, so they moved to singing Oh Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah.

After that, in their turn, each said the things they were grateful for.

"I'm grateful for strap-ons," said Santana, looking at Dani, who smiled.

"I'm grateful for all of us being here in New York," said Rachel, grinning brightly.

"I'm grateful for New York itself," said Dani, not elaborating. Santana grabbed her hand and kissed it.

"I'm grateful for you," said Kurt, kneading Blaine's thigh with his hand.

"I'm grateful for you, too," said Blaine.

They looked at each other for a moment, smiling softly, until Rachel clapped her hands and the moment was over.

"Let's eat, I'm starving!"

And that was what everyone in the room was truly grateful for; the chattering as they ate, Rachel's continuous attempts to make them sing Ma'oz Tzur, Santana being lewd but gazing at Dani lovingly every two seconds, and Kurt and Blaine being sickeningly in love.

It was bizarre and wonderful, and it was family; it was the place they all truly wanted to be.
