(A/N: Well, here we are. The final chapter. I have a lot of feelings about this that I will refrain from sharing until the end of the chapter. But for now, here we go.
Please note, this epilogue takes place some time after the rest of the story, after the Tournament of the Elements arc.)
Misako's POV
Losing Garmadon was a terrible blow to all of us. After the battle with the Serpentine, I spent most of my time on the Bounty, buried in my research. It seemed unbelievable that, so soon after I had gotten my love back, I had lost him again. This time, it seemed, it would be forever.
I tried to stay by Wu's side as well as I could. Surely, it was as hard for him as for me, harder, even. And Lloyd...oh, poor Lloyd. The boy barely knew his father as he truly was.
One day, looking through the maps in my desk, I came upon a letter. I opened the envelope, and a slow smile came across my face as I began to read.
Dearest Misako, it read, I know our relationship has never been perfect. I know that I have never been perfect. I'm sure it's never been easy for you to love me, to love our son. But I've always loved that about you - your loyalty, your dedication, the way you never gave up on either Lloyd or me. Thank you, Misako, for never giving up on me. I have a feeling that something will happen in this next battle, something I may not come away from, and so I've written this letter to tell you one simple thing: I love you. I hope you believe me, and I hope you return my love. Thank you for forgiving me, and know I will always love you. Yours forever, Garmadon.
My heart warmed as I read the words on the page, and I knew I had made the right choice. The years Garmadon had spent in his monstrous form had not made him incapable of love.
Wu came up behind me. "You found the letter," he said softly.
I nodded. "Oh, Garmadon," I sighed.
"We'll all miss him," Wu said.
"Yes, we will." I looked up at him with a small smile, folding up the letter. I knew it would be hard, but I knew we would heal.
Together.
Kai's POV
Gee whiz. Jay and Nya were not what they used to be. During all the chaos that ensued after the Final Battle, their relationship nearly fell apart. I knew neither of them blame Cole for it, but the poor dude still felt bad. Sitting through the two of them fighting constantly over Nya wasn't fun.
But, ultimately, it wasn't enough to ruin them. Which was good, but, it also meant that I had to sit through hours of Nya and Jay alike talking and arguing about wedding plans in the days following the Tournament, which is possibly worst than the fighting. I would so much rather be out punching things...
Honestly, I wasn't sure they'd ever actually have a wedding. Probably end up running away together instead or something. That was just the sort of wild, crazy, I-won't-tell-my-brother-about-this-until-I've-done-it idea Nya would have. And probably Jay, too - it's not like he's known for thinking things through.
They really were perfect for each other. And I couldn't wait to see what kind of shenanigans I could get into with Jay as a part of my family.
We'll rock Ninjago, if I do say so myself.
Lloyd's POV
Darkly's was back in session, again. Life was returning to normal. I had decided to wait on going back for a while, though. I needed to dedicate some serious time to training after what happened in the Tournament. Even without school, though, things were slowly starting to feel a bit more...well, no, a bit less...dang it. Things felt different, that was all that mattered. Maybe not normal, but slightly less insane then they'd been.
One day, I decided to take a walk through Ninjago City. I went down to the comic shop I'd always loved when I was a kid, looking for Jay. "Jay?" I yelled, pushing open the door. I looked around, muttering something about a flippin' lightning ninja. I was about to give up and leave...
And then I saw her.
I could tell just by looking at her that she was just as much a tomboy as she used to be - wearing her hair short, dressed in a boy's t-shirt, engaged in a loud, rowdy debate with a couple of older guys behind the counter.
She spotted me. "Oh, hello, green ninja!" she called with a smile.
All I could say was, "H-he-hey, Natalia. Welcome home..."
