Chapter 7: Just Friends

One week had pasted since Juvia's birthday. And as the days went by, Juvia slowly began to realize that things really were over with Gray. But this realization didn't make Juvia feel better. In fact, it only made her feel worse. She had been with Gray for a year. She had spent a year of her life loving him. But one fight was enough to destroy their relationship. One fight and everything that they had built together was gone. And it also didn't help that Juvia was still in love with him. And if Juvia was being completely honest with herself, she would always love Gray. Gray was her first love. Sure, she dated men before him, but the relationship never lasted long enough for her to fall in love. No, her relationship with Gray was the first one that she had where she loved someone and they loved her in return. Gray showed Juvia what love was supposed to be. He showed her what it felt like to have someone love you back. And if Juvia were to move on with someone else, she would never forget Gray and what they had. Gray will always hold a special place in her heart. No matter where life takes her, she will always love Gray.

I guess that's why people say that you can never forget your first love. Or your first time having sex. Anyways, back to the story.

Juvia was currently laying on her couch, eating doritos, and watching tv. Today was her day off and she planned on enjoying every minute of it. She had no plans for the day so she was just going to chill in her apartment. That is, until someone knocked on her door. Juvia sighed. So much for enjoying her day.

''Coming!'' she called and rushed to answer the door. She expected Merudy to be on the other side, but instead, she saw Gray. Juvia was mildly surprised. She didn't expect to see Gray at her doorstep.

''What are you doing here?'' she asked. Gray shrugged.

''I wanted to see you.'' he said. Juvia frowned.

''Well, now that you've seen Juvia, you can leave now.'' Juvia said and was about to shut the door in his face when Gray put his foot in between the door jam. He slowly squeezed his way into the apartment. Juvia crossed her arms.

''Can you please leave? Juvia is trying to have a relaxing day.'' Juvia snapped. Gray frowned.

''Please Juvia. Can't we be civil for once? Can't you just hear me out? After that I'll leave. I promise.'' Juvia sighed.

''Fine.'' she whispered. Gray smiled.

''Thank you. Can I sit down?'' he asked. Juvia nodded. Gray sat down and gestured for Juvia to sit down next to him. Juvia sighed and slowly sat down next to him.

''Why did Gray come here? Juvia thought that Gray had work.''

''I do have to go to work.''

''Than why are you here?'' Juvia asked. Gray looked away.

''Listen Juvia, this may be the last time that you'll see me. At least, not for a while.'' Gray admitted. Now this certainly caught Juvia's attention.

''Why?'' she asked.

''Someone is filing a lawsuit against me.''

''For what?'' Gray sighed.

''Juvia, do you remember the night when you caught me making out with that woman?'' Gray asked. Juvia scowled.

''Yeah. How could Juvia forget?'' she mumbled sarcastically. Gray glanced at her.

''Anyways, her name is Becca and she is one of my employees. Long story short, after our fight, she came into my office demanding a raise. I told her no, and now she's claiming that I raped her.'' Juvia's eyes widened.

''What? B-But you didn't right?'' Gray gave her a slight glare.

''Why would you even ask something like that? Juvia, you know me. I would never rape someone. I didn't do it. She's only saying that because I didn't give her what she wanted.''

''But, why don't you just fire her? If she is making false claims about you, than wouldn't firing her be the best option?'' Juvia asked. Gray shook his head.

''No. If I fire her than she can sue me for wrongful termination. And those cases could get real messy. So the only choice that I have is to let her file this lawsuit. Which totally sucks but I don't really have any other options.''

''Do you think that you can win?'' Juvia asked. Gray smiled.

''Hell yeah. Becca has no chance of winning. No one can support her claim that I raped her. My lawyer says that I have nothing to worry about.'' Gray said. Juvia smiled.

''Well, that's good. Juvia hopes that you win.'' Juvia replied. Gray nodded.

''But there is one thing Juvia. Becca and her team may call you up to the stand to testify. Seeing as you are my ex-girlfriend and you did see me and Becca making out. I'm sorry if you get dragged into this.''

''It's alright. Juvia understands. But Juvia promises Gray that she will not lie on that stand. That is, if she gets called to testify.'' Gray smiled.

''Yeah, I know you won't lie. You're too good for that.'' he whispered. Then, without warning, he leaned in and kissed her.

Juvia made a sound of surprise. She never saw this coming. She had half a mind to shove Gray away and slap him, but she didn't. But she didn't return the kiss either. She just sat there, frozen. When it became clear to Gray that Juvia wasn't going to return the kiss, he pulled away.

''Why did you do that?'' Juvia whispered. Gray looked her in the eye. Blue eyes clashed with onyx.

''I'm so sorry for everything Juvia. I'm a fool that completely destroyed the best relationship that I ever had. And I broke your heart in the process. And I apologize for that. I took you and our relationship for granted and now I'm just realizing how aweful I've been to you. And I know that fancy gifts can never win you back. And I know that there is no way that I can snake my way back into your heart when I've done so much damage to it already. But that doesn't mean that I won't try. I will fight to get you back Juvia, even if you never forgive me, I won't give up on you. I won't give up on us. I still love you Juvia and I know that deep down, you still love me too. And I know that coming in here and telling you all this information and expecting you to forgive me automatically is wrong, but I just had to do it. I just had to tell you how I feel. I needed you to know that, no matter what happens, I will still love you. And I always will.'' Gray stood up.

''I'll see you around Juvia.'' Without another word, he turned and left.

Juvia stared at the door, shocked. Then she picked up a pillow and threw it at the door. With a huff, she layed down on her couch and looked at the ceiling.

'Stupid Gray. Just when Juvia finally started to accept the situation, he goes and tells her that. How is she supposed to accept our break up now?'

OooOoOoOoOOoOoOoOoOo

After Gray left Juvia's apartment, he drove to Lyon's medical office. He walked into the building and walked straight to Lyon's office, completely ignoring his receptionist.

''Excuse me sir! You can't just barge into Dr. Vastia's office! Sir!'' Jane protested, but to no avail. Gray opened the door to Lyon's office and walked in.

Lyon looked up when he heard his office door open. He sighed when he saw Gray standing there.

''What is it now, Gray?'' he asked.

''I'm sorry.''

''What?'' Gray sighed.

''I said I'm sorry. I was acting like a total fool. You and Juvia are just friends and I should have understood that instead of pressing the matter. I accused you two of being together and that was wrong. I let my anger and jealousy get the better of me and I apologize.'' Gray said.

''Apology accepted. But, can I ask what brought about this sudden change?'' Lyon questioned.

''I've realized that my actions were completely uncalled for and it's time that I man up and apologize. I was acting like an immature brat. I was rude to you and Juvia and I am sorry for that. Juvia is allowed to have friends and I had no right to demand that you two stop hanging out. I had no right to say that you were trying to take Juvia away from me. Juvia and I aren't together and she is allowed to move on with whomever she wants and I have no say in it.'' Gray admitted. Lyon leaned back in his chair.

''Wow. I'd never thought that I would get an apology out of you.''

''Yeah, well, don't get used to it.'' Gray replied and sat down on one of the chairs.

''Although I appreciate the apology, is that the only reason why you came here?''

''No. I also want to talk about Juvia.'' Gray said. Lyon sighed.

''I am not getting into an arguement with you, Gray. I have work to do.'' Lyon said.

''I don't want to fight. I just want to know how you feel about her.''

''What are you inplying?'' Lyon questioned.

''I'm not implying anything. I just want to know, how do you feel about Juvia?'' Gray asked. Lyon sighed.

''I like Juvia. She's kind, caring, smart, and she's fun to be around. And as you already know, she is beautiful. And I've told her that on several occations. Juvia is my friend and I care for her. As for romantic feelings, I don't know about that. Although I am over Sherry, I am not about to just jump into a relationship right now. And I know that Juvia isn't over you, so I am not about to try anything on her. Does that answer your question?''

''For the moment. But I just want you to know, if your feelings for Juvia change, than you better be prepared for a fight because I am not going to give up on her.'' Gray warned. Lyon smiled.

''Thanks for the warning. If my feelings for Juvia change, than you'll be the first to know.'' Gray nodded.

''Good to know. See you, Lyon.'' Gray turned and left.

When Lyon was sure that Gray was gone, he busted up laughing.

OOoOoOoOoOoOoOOoOoOoOOOOo

It was Sunday morning when Gray's day in court started. He put on his best suit and headed to the courthouse. His lawyer met him at the front steps.

''Good morning Gray. How are you feeling?'' she asked. Gray rolled his eyes.

''Like I just got accused of raping someone. But besides that, I'm feeling great.'' Gray replied sarcastically.

''I don't need your sarcasm, Gray. And I've told you before, you have nothing to worry about. Or do you not trust me?'' Gray's lawyer questioned. Gray laugh.

''Oh, don't get me wrong, I do trust you. You're one of the best lawyers around, Levy. I wouldn't hire you all those years ago if you weren't the best.'' Levy smiled.

''Good to know. But believe me when I say, you don't have anything to worry about, Gray. And I'm not only saying that as your lawyer, but as your friend as well. Now, let's get this show on the road. Hopefully this whole thing will be resolved today.''

''Yeah, I hope so too.'' Gray agreed and together they walked into the courthouse.

When they reached the courtroom, Becca and her lawyer was already there. Becca smirked at them.

''I hope that you're prepared to lose.'' she said. Gray sneered at her.

''I am not going to lose. And as soon as I win, I am going to fire your ass.'' Gray snarled. Levy glared at him.

''Control your mouth. We don't want to give the judge a reason to believe her. Just ignore her. She's only baiting you.'' Levy said. Gray sighed.

''I guess you're right.'' he agreed. Levy smiled.

''Of course I am. I'm always right.'' she boasted. Gray rolled his eyes.

''No need to get cocky.'' he muttered. Levy was going to respond, but then the judge walked in. All conversations ceased.

''All rise and welcome Judge Park.'' The bailiff said. Everyone rose and watched as the judge took her seat.

''You can sit down now.'' Judge Park said. She looked incredibly bored.

''Let's get this started. Now, let me see if I got this right. According to Ms. Becca Sinclair, on March 6th, Mr. Fullbuster invited her to his apartment as a thank you for comforting him in his time of need. Apparently, Mr. Fullbuster and his girlfriend got into and arguement which resulted in their separation. Ms. Sinclair provided Mr. Fullbuster with a shoulder to lean on during this hard time for him. So, Mr. Fullbuster invited her to his apartment. You two had dinner and watched a movie. After that, Mr. Fullbuster showed Ms. Sinclair around his apartment. When they reached the bedroom, however, Mr. Fullbuster grabbed Ms. Sinclair by the wrist and shoved her into the room, where he threw her on the bed and raped her. Is that correct, Ms. Sinclair?'' The judge asked.

Becca nodded and stood up.

''Yes, Your Honor. That is correct.'' Becca said. Judge Park nodded and turned to Gray.

''Is what Ms. Sinclair is saying true, Mr. Fullbuster?'' Judge Park asked. Gray stood up.

''Absolutely not, Your Honor. I did not rape my employee.'' Gray said.

''Than why don't you come to the stand and tell me your side of the story, Mr. Fullbuster.'' Judge Park offered. Gray nodded and took his seat on the stand.

The bailiff asked Gray to put his hand on the Bible and to swear to tell the truth.

''Okay, now that that is done, can you tell me what exactly happened between you and Ms. Sinclair on the night of March 6th?'' Gray sighed.

''On the night of March 6th, I did invite Becca to my apartment. Earlier that day, we had a conversation in my office about my relationship with my girlfriend, Juvia Lockser. Becca suggested that I should move on with someone else, that someone else being her. At the time, I was feeling jealous because I thought that my Juvia was moving on with someone else. So, I listened to Becca and agreed that maybe it was time for me to move on. So, I invited Becca to my apartment, where we started to make out. But before we could get any futher, my girlfriend walked in on us. We got into a huge arguement and Juvia stormed out of the building. When I walked back up the stairs to my apartment, Becca was still there. She made a comment about Juvia and I yelled at her to leave. That was all that happened that night, Your Honor.'' Gray said. Judge Park nodded.

''Excuse me, Your Honor, but I would like to ask Mr. Fullbuster some questions. Is that alright?'' Becca's lawyer asked. Judge Park nodded and Becca's lawyer stepped up.

''Okay Mr. Fullbuster, can you tell me what happened after you yelled at my client to leave?''

''I was pissed, so I broke a few things. After that, I went to bed, although I couldn't really sleep.'' Gray answered.

''Okay. Now, can you tell me what happened the day after you fought with Ms. Lockser?''

''After everything that happened March 6th, I went to the office like any other day. It was about midday when Becca walked into my office and demanded a raise. When I told her no, she threatened to sue me for rape.''

''Okay. Now, you say that it was my client that suggested that you move on. Can anyone support your statement?''

''Well, no. It was only me and Becca in the office.'' Gray answered. Levy stood up.

''Your Honor, I don't see how any of this is relevant.''

''Get to the point, Mr. Danes.'' Judge Park said. Mr. Danes nodded.

''Just a few more questions, Your Honor. Mr. Fullbuster, since no one can support your statement that it was my client who convinced you to move on, than how am I supposed to believe that you didn't make it up? How do I know that you didn't lie?'' Mr. Danes asked.

''Your Honor, this is ridiculous. My client wouldn't lie on the stand.'' Levy spoke up.

''People perjure themselves all the time.'' Mr. Danes countered.

''My client would never perjure himself.'' Levy protested.

''Enough. Mr. Danes, hurry up your questioning. I want to get this over and done with. I have kids to go home to.''

''I apologize Your Honor. Mr. Fullbuster, have you ever felt attracted to my client?'' Mr. Danes questioned.

''Well, uh, Becca is a very attractive woman. I'm sure that I'm not the only man that would be attraced to her.'' Gray answered.

''That is true. My client is a beautiful woman. And I'm sure you know, my client likes to see the best in people. She trusts and forgives people very easily. Because of this, my client can easily be taken advantage of.''

''What are you implying?'' Gray asked.

''My client trusts you. You are her boss and she respects you. And you just said that you are attracted to my client. But, just how much attraction do you feel towards my client? Are you attracted to her enough to rape her?''

''Objection!'' Levy interrupted.

''How do I know that you didn't take advantage of my client's trust? How do I know that you didn't rape her?''

''Your Honor!'' Levy shouted.

''That's enough, Mr. Danes. You said one more question and I let you ask your question. You've overstepped your boundaries.''

''I apologize, Your Honor.'' Mr. Danes said. Judge Park sighed.

''I've had enough. Court is adjourned. We'll continue this tomorrow.'' Judge Park said.

Slowly everyone started to file out of the room. Gray walked up to Levy with a defeated expression. Levy put a hand on his shoulder.

''Don't worry. Everything's going to be alright, I promise.'' Levy said. Gray gave her a small smile.

''I know. I'm gonna go, alright? I'll see you tomorrow, Levy.'' Gray said. He turned and walked out of the courthouse.

He was so going to take a nap.

OOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOO

Juvia was out having lunch with Lyon. He had called her earlier and said that he was free for lunch and wanted to know if she would join him. She accepted and in thirty minutes, she was at a tiny restaurant, laughing it up with Lyon.

''Wow. That's terrible, Lyon-san. How could you do that to Gray-sama?'' Juvia asked, smiling. Lyon shrugged.

''He deserved it.'' he stated simply. Juvia giggled.

''That is so mean. Juvia is sure that Gray-sama didn't deserve that.'' Juvia said.

''Than we clearly have very different views on what Gray deserved.'' Lyon replied. They looked at each other and laughed.

''Juvia is having such a good time.''

''Good to know. I'm having a good time as well.'' Lyon said.

''Does Lyon-san have any more childhood stories about Gray-sama?'' Juvia asked.

''Tons. But I'll spare you the details of all terrible things that I did to Gray when we were younger.'' Lyon replied.

''Okay, well, if we can't talk about Gray, than why don't we talk about you?''

''What do you want to know?'' Lyon asked. Juvia thought about it for a moment. Then she smiled.

''Juvia wants to know about Lyon-san's ex.'' Juvia said. Lyon's face fell.

''I don't want to talk about that.'' Lyon mumbled. Juvia blinked.

''Why not? Juvia thought that Lyon-san was okay with Juvia asking about his past.

''I am. Just don't ask about my past relationships.'' Juvia pouted.

''But, Juvia told Lyon-san about Gray-sama. It would only be fair if Lyon-san talked about his ex as well.''

''I understand that, but I don't want to talk about my ex. Sherry is a very sensitive subject for me. I don't like to talk about her so can we please drop it?'' Juvia could see that Lyon was getting upset so she let it go.

''Okay, Juvia won't talk abut Lyon-san's ex.'' Juvia agreed, although reluctantly. Lyon smiled.

''Thank you.'' he mumbled.

The rest of their lunch continued with no problems. But eventually, Lyon had to get back to the office.

''Juvia had such a good time. Lyon-san is such a good friend for taking Juvia out like this.'' Juvia said.

''It's my pleasure.'' Lyon replied.

''Okay. Juvia will see you later, Lyon-san.'' Juvia waved and drove off. Lyon watched her leave.

''Yeah. I'm such a good friend.'' he whispered before stepping into his car and driving off.
