Chapter 30:

"You and I don't see eye to eye and quite frankly, I don't think either of us would ever consider being friends with the other," Nikki said as she sat in an armchair across from Jon and Allie. She was fiddling with something in her hands as she spoke nervously to them. "Just because I don't particularly care for you doesn't mean I'm evil and would wish unnecessary harm upon you."
"I appreciate that," Allie nodded, keeping her agitation in check and sarcasm under control. Jon patted her knee with the hand that had been resting on it since they had sat down on the couch. The gesture showing his appreciation for her reigning in her temper.
"John would most likely kill me if he knew I've been spying on him," Nikki continued, holding up a small silver thumb drive in her hand. "But something hasn't felt right lately. He's become obsessed with you and I started thinking he was having an affair with you."
The suggestion was enough to make Allie visibly gag and groan in disgust. Nikki smirked and let out a low chuckle. "I realized that I couldn't be more off base about what was going on after I got an ass chewing from Punk about some comments I made about you."
Allie couldn't help but to smirk at the mention of her protective friend. "Punk's like that." Returning her attention to the thumb drive in Nikki's hand. "So, what did you find?"
Nikki sighed, before tossing the thumb drive to Allie. "John's having an affair, but it goes so much deeper than that." Before she could continue, the door to the hotel room swung open, revealing Colby and Joe. The two men looked back and forth between the group before them with confused expressions. After a moment they moved further into the room and joined their stablemates by the couch.
"Where's Steph?" Allie asked as Joe took a seat on the other side of Jon.
"She ran into Nattie downstairs," he explained, as he settled back into the couch. "She'll be here later."
Allie nodded, as she felt Colby take a seat beside her. He threw a protective arm across the back of the couch and leaned in towards her slightly. "You guys cool?" He asked, his tone only loud enough for Allie and Jon to hear. Allie turned to face him and gave him a reassuring smile as she nodded. Feeling satisfied with Allie's response, Colby turned to face Nikki with a wary expression.
"What do you want with my baby sister?" Joe asked, his tone protective and cautious. Allie smiled again as she nestled herself into Jon's side. Though Nikki was hardly a threat, she couldn't help the warm feeling of safety that spread through her knowing she was surrounded by the love of her life and her brothers.
"It's not just Allie," Nikki answered. Allie had to give her credit. The overwhelming and intimidating presence of The Shield was usually enough to scare anyone from the room, but Nikki held her ground and pressed on. "John won't stop until he gets everything he wants. Allie may be the goal, but he won't hesitate to do what he has to, to destroy anything that gets in his way. You guys are just as much at risk as Allie is. Hell, Steph. Mark. Punk. Anyone close to you is at risk."
The four friends looked amongst each, the tension and worry had become apparent on Allie's face. She had known that this was a possibility, but she had hoped that she had been paranoid and over exaggerating the situation. Swallowing hard and closing her throat, she spoke looking for clarification. "What's happened that makes you think it's become this severe?"
Nikki licked her lips nervously and fiddled with the chain around her neck. "I wasn't exaggerating when I said he's become obsessed with you," she said in quiet voice. "The affairs aren't your average affairs. He's sleeping with any woman he can find that resembles you. And I mean resembles you. I'm talking like, twins separated at birth status. It's creepy, Allie."
"No offense," Allie said trying to say her next thought without pissing Nikki off. "But is it possible that you're just a little paranoid and just think they all look like me."
Nikki smirked, "Believe me, I wish that's what it was." Pointing to the thumb drive, she continued. "That is filled with pictures of the women I've seen him with. Honestly, take a look and see for yourself." Before Allie could even stand to get her computer, Colby had snatched the drive out of her hands.
"What the hell, Colbs?" She barked in frustration, but was ignored as he stood and moved towards his own computer.
"Relax," Jon's calm voice breathed into her ear as he held her tightly against in order to prevent her from standing and going after Colby. She could tell, despite his calm tone, that Jon was tense and upset. "It's probably best you and I don't look."
Allie reluctantly agreed, but kept her eyes glued to Colby as he retrieved the photos off the drive. She felt Jon tense further as Colby's eyes widened in disbelief before looking up to meet Jon's with a hesitant nod of his head. Jon's voice was now laced with anger and worry. "Blonde or black?"
She watched Colby swallow down his own anger and disgust at what he was seeing before him. "Both." He cringed as he looked at a few more pictures. "A, uh, a couple of the goths even have some purple in the black and the body types are all identical. Even the faces are almost a dead ringer for Al."
Allie heard Jon growl, before he turned his glare on Nikki. The look he gave her was enough to cause a look of fear to cross her face for the first time. "What else do you know?"
"I, uh," Nikki stammered and bit at her lip nervously. "I was in his closet the other day. I was looking for anything else I could find and what I found was seriously disturbing." She avoided Jon's face and kept her eyes locked on her hands that were now fidgeting in her lap. "He had at least a hundred pairs of these costume eye contacts. They were all... They were all blue. The same shade of blue."
"Are you trying to tell me that this sick fuck went as far as getting contacts that match Allie's eye color and makes these chicks wear them when he fucks 'em?" Joe's deep voice sounded around the room with a disgusted growl. His left hand was gripping the arm of the couch so tightly that Allie thought he might just rip it off.
Colby had gone silent and was still sitting in front of the computer with his elbows propped on the table and his face buried in his hands. His breathing was harsh and shallow, while his right leg bounced up and down rapidly beneath the table. Allie knew him well enough to know that Colby was extremely upset and was doing what he could to calm himself down before he exploded.
Jon on the other hand had completely lost his cool and was now on his feet and pacing angrily back and forth across the room. His hands were gripped tightly in his hair and he was muttering and snarling to himself. She couldn't remember ever seeing Jon this out of sorts, except for when he was deep into his Jon Moxley character. She had never dealt with Moxley live and in person and to be honest, she was almost afraid to.
Deciding that she needed some air before she even attempted to tackle that, Allie excused herself to Nikki and walked out onto the balcony, being sure to grab her cigarettes along the way.
She hadn't been out there long, when she heard the door open behind her. She had expected it to be one of the boys, but was surprised to see Nikki walk up beside her and lean against the rail.
"Hey," she said quietly, giving Allie her best attempt at a friendly greeting.
"Hey," Allie responded after taking a deep drag of her cigarette. She moved her hand that held her cigarettes out towards Nikki and was genuinely surprised when Nikki took one out. "Didn't take you for a smoker."
"Yea," Nikki chuckled softly after lighting her cigarette and blowing out a smooth trail of smoke. "Well, I gave it up for Mr. Wonderful, but we see how that turned out for me. No harm in doing it now. I never wanted to quit anyway."
Allie couldn't help the small sympathetic smile that crossed her face at Nikki's words. "For what it's worth, I'm sorry."
"For what?" Nikki asked her, confusion filling her face.
"For everything," Allie shrugged, blowing out a line of smoke. "For being a bitch to you and for everything Cena's put you through."
Nikki chuckled again, "You were only a bitch because I'm was a class A douche to you. You didn't deserve it. I was just so hung up on John and was convinced he was cheating on me with you that I lashed out at the wrong person. So for that I'm sorry." She took another drag of her cigarette before continuing. "As far as Cena goes, none of that was your fault. It hurts and it probably will for a while, but I don't blame anyone but him, and myself for not seeing it sooner. I was just so blinded by his Prince Charming charade that I couldn't see all the bullshit."
The two women stood in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, before Nikki turned to Allie biting her lip again. "There's more that I think you should know," she said, making Allie's attention turn to her again. "I don't know what it could mean or if it has anything to do with you, but John's been on the phone a lot with someone lately. It could be nothing, but other than your past with Randy, do you have any kind of connection to Bob Orton?"
Allie felt the blood drain from her face and her eyes widen almost comically. Cena knew? He knew about Orton? But how was that possible when she had only just found out? It didn't make sense. What would the two possibly have to talk about if it didn't involve her? Did that mean that Orton knew? Did Randy know too?
"What the fuck?!" Both women were startled by the loud gruff voice that sounded behind them. Spinning around Allie saw the angry face of Jon glaring at her. "You could have fucking told me you were coming out here! You just fucking disappeared!"
"I walked right passed you," Allie spoke calmly, still reeling from what Nikki had just told her and Jon's sudden aggression towards her. "I figured you saw me."
"No! I didn't fucking see you!" Jon snapped at her. Allie hadn't seen him like this in a very long time and his anger had her startled. "I fucking told I didn't want you going anywhere byyourself."
"I walked out to the balcony, Jon," Allie snapped back in anger. "It's not like I took off."
"Did I know that?!" He argued, stepping towards them. His voice became a harsh, almost menacing whisper. "You can be so careless and thoughtless sometimes."
Allie stammered a moment. She couldn't believe that Jon was acting this way. She understood he was upset, but that was no reason to lash out at her. "What the fuck is your problem?"
"My problem?" He snarled at her with a humorless laugh. "My problem is that some dick is obsessed with my girlfriend to the point of being a psychotic stalker and you just wonder off without a care. Use your brain for once Allie!"
Allie stood up straight and stared at him in disbelief. She raised an accusatory finger at him and snapped, "You know what? Fuck you, Jon! I don't need you shit right now! I did nothing wrong!" With that she stormed passed him and into the hotel room.
She walked towards hers and Jon's room, passing Colby and Joe who looked at her concerned. Ignoring them she walked into her room and slammed the door. She quickly began gathering up her things, before walking back out of the room with her bags.
"Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" Jon barked at her, grabbing her arm when she went to walk passed him. Stopping, she turned and gave him a murderous glare and jerked her arm out of his grasp.
"I'm leaving!" She snapped at him. "I don't want to deal with you!"
"You aren't going anywhere!" Jon yelled, moving to grab her again, but she was already walking to the door again.
"Try and stop me!" She yelled back, before wrenching the door open and stepping through it.
"Allie, please," she heard the worried voice of Joe, before she slammed the door shut behind her. She made her way quickly down the hall and heard the hotel door open and feet following after her quickly.
"Allie, stop!" She heard Jon yell after her, but she just took off at run and didn't stop until she had hit the lobby and was out the door. Hailing a cab, she threw her luggage into it and told the driver to take her to the airport. Looking out the window as they pulled away, she saw the boys exiting the hotel and Jon running up the sidewalk after her, yelling out.
"Boyfriend trouble?" The driver asked her in a kind voice, making her turn to him. She met his eyes in the rear view mirror.
"You could say that," she answered, turning back to look out the rear window. She could see Jon had stopped and was gripping his hat tightly in his hands as yelled out to her again. Sighing, she turned away and faces forward again.
"Well, I hope you kids can work it out," he said giving her an understanding smile. "Any man that would chase after a woman is a man with a lot to lose. Whatever he did, I'm sure he's already regretting it."
"As he should," Allie answered back quietly. She couldn't believe the way Jon had spoken to her. Emotions were running high, but he had overreacted. She just hoped he would see that and soon.
"So where are you headed?" The driver asked, as he drove them towards the airport. Allie's brain was torn and as much as she wanted to head to Vegas, she knew where she needed to go. It was time for some answers.
"Home."
A/N: uh-oh! Trouble in paradise? Sorry once again for delay. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season! I'll see you soon with the next update!
