Hello again, and I am sorry for the long wait; I get easily distracted and I was struggling on where to go next with the plot. I will try to update again as soon as possible and thank you for being patient and dealing with the sporadic update. I hope you enjoy the chapter.
After much discussion between Haku and Chihiro, they decided to move into rooms that were next to each other. If there was trouble, they would be able to rush over to help the other.
Now, the only problem left; who was going to watch Mizuko while the two young parents were working?
"Do you think Yubaba would let her follow me around while I work? Or maybe follow you?" Chihiro asked as she held the sleeping toddler in her arms.
"I don't know. Maybe we could persuade Kamaji to watch her; I think he would enjoy the company." Haku said as he thought of possible solutions. The air grew silent as they pondered other ideas.
"What about Terra? She seems trustworthy." Chihiro said suddenly.
"That may not be a good idea. Since she's in charge of the gate, she is constantly fiddling around with other worlds and they could be dangerous, believe me, I've seen some of them. She's a good person, but not good for babysitting." Haku said as the window began to rattle.
Thinking it was someone threatening, Haku stood in front of Chihiro and the child to shield them, readying his magic. He relaxed when he saw a familiar bun of hair accompanied by something bright green.
"Zeniba." Haku politely murmured as he bowed. Chihiro ran around him to give her a big hug.
"Granny! What are you doing here? I thought you had to return home?" She asked as she moved back to wave at Terra, who waved back just as cheerfully.
"I did but Terra came rushing over to give me some news that Haku and I must discuss later." She said with a grave look.
"But that is for another time. I've brought Zeniba here so that she can watch the gate while I'm gone." Terra said as she cooed at the still sleeping child.
"You're leaving?" Haku asked, a shocked look on his face.
"Yeah, I have to go find Samar." She looked him in the eye, showing the severity of the situation.
"Who's Samar?" Chihiro asked
"Samar is my sister's husband, my brother-in-law. He controls the great deserts in the East. He's there right now for an important meeting with the other spirits in charge of the deserts since there were some strange occurrences happening." She explained as she scratched her scalp.
"Why do you need to go see him?"
Terra froze as she struggled to come up with an adequate lie.
"He helps my sister keep her magic from running amok, so I thought it would be best if we didn't have any other little ones coming into the wrong time."
"Oh, that's a good idea." Chihiro mused as she went to lay the toddler in a bed.
"Yeah, so I have to leave early tomorrow so that I can reach him before the end of next week."
"Wow, that's a long journey."
"Yeah, since I'm the gate guardian I have to travel through doors and I'm limited to walking because of the sand. But when I find him, it'll only take about four days to get back. Hopefully he won't be moving around too much, those deserts are big."
"Well, I hope you find him soon." Chihiro smiled as she yawned.
"I'll let you guys sleep. Goodnight." Terra waved as she walked out the door.
"I will show you how to work the gate when you finish talking with Haku." And with that, she was gone.
I hope you guys enjoyed. I tried to make this chapter longer, but I didn't want to rush the plot too much. The next chapter should have Haku being informed and Terra wandering around a desert. Please comment of there were any mistakes, questions, or comments that you had. Thank you!
