Chapter 32:

Allie awoke later that afternoon to an empty bed. Groaning, she sat up and stretched her arms and back, wincing at the pops they made. After getting herself ready and grabbing her laptop, she made her way downstairs.

Entering the kitchen, she saw Jon and her dad talking quietly while sipping on a couple beers, while Moxley laid curled up in the corner with her dad's golden retriever, Lacee. They both attempted to act casual, ceasing the conversation as she approached them.

"Well, that wasn't shady at all," she grumbled, falling into a chair beside Jon.

"Hello to you too, sunshine," her dad chuckled, standing up from the table and walking towards his bar. "You want the usual, Leash?"

"Yes, please," she answered as she booted up her computer. Jon watched as her dad pulled a large brown bottle out of the cabinet behind the bar and then moved to the fridge, grabbing a can of Pepsi and milk.

"I don't know what you're about to drink," Jon said with a grossed out look on his face, "but it looks gross."

"Guess it's a good thing you aren't drinking it," Allie chuckled at him as she began typing into her computer. "Where is everyone?"

"Colby and Joe wanted to hit the gym," he answered, keeping his eyes on the concoction Rich was making. "Steph felt guilty not going too and Jessie tagged along to get out of the house."

"Here ya go," Rich said, placing the drink in front of Allie with a smile. "Sure you don't want one Jon?"

"I think I'll pass, thanks," he chuckled while giving Allie bewildered look as she actually drank it. "Are you seriously drinking that?"

"Oh come on," She laughed, sliding the glass towards him. "Colorado Bulldog. It has coffee liquor in it. It's good. It kinda tastes like a kicked up chocolate milk."

Jon gave the glass a suspicious look, before slowly reaching a hand out and picking it up. After giving Allie a warning look, he took a deep breath and taking a small sip. Pulling the glass away from his mouth, he gave a couple thoughtful smacks of his lips, before shrugging. "Not too bad, I guess."

"See?" she smiled brightly at him turning back to her computer. "Nothing to be afraid of."

Rich chuckled in the background, before announcing he was heading out for a bit and to make themselves at home. They both said goodbye to him as he left the room with Lacee following after him, then sat in a comfortable silence for several minutes.

"We should buy a castle," Allie spoke up suddenly, keeping her eyes locked on the computer screen in front of her.

"Oh, yea," Jon scoffed from behind his beer glass as he watched Sports Center on the kitchen tv. "While we're at it, why not a couple? We'll have vacation homes all over Europe."

"Now you're thinking!" Allie exclaimed excitedly as she began clicking away on her laptop.

"We are not now, nor are we ever, buying a castle," Jon answered, keeping his eyes forward as his free hand covered the keyboard. "You practically live in one now."

"But why have an imposture, when you can have the real deal?" Allie grinned at the side of his head, before trying to move his hand in vain.

"Not happening."

"Such a party pooper," she pouted disappointedly. "Aren't Prince Charming and his princess suppose to live in a castle?"

"Our castle is what ever we make it," Jon smirked at her. "Even if it is a measly little 12 bedroom mansion."

"You're making me sound greedy and high maintenance," Allie jokingly huffed. "I just think that if its something I want and I can afford it, I should be able to buy it. Whether it's the latest gadget... or a palace."

"Baby, I think you just defined rich people problems," Jon chuckled at her as he finished off his beer, before standing up and walking to the fridge and grabbing another to refill his glass. "There's a drastic difference between a new gadget and a multimillion dollar castle."

Allie shrugged, "I don't agree." Jon couldn't help the outburst of laughter that erupted out of him at his girlfriends serious face. Knowing this woman like he did, he knew she was only fucking with him, but she did a damn good job at it. Playing along had resulted in some of the weirdest faux arguments he'd ever been a part of and he honestly looked forward to them.

"So," Jon asked, smiling at her as he retook his seat next to her. "What are you really doing on that thing, brainiac?"

"Well," Allie said biting her lip. "I've been thinking."

"What about?" Jon asked her with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know if I want to give Vegas up," she answered.

"Ok, but I thought we agreed to get rid of the condo," Jon replied, confusion etched across his face.

"I know," Allie nodded, "but I was thinking about it and I've kinda grown attached to it. Plus when we're on that side of the country, it would be nice to have a house somewhat nearby."

"That would be great," Jon nodded, seeing her point. "However, it's a rental property and I don't know if I really want to be paying rent on it forever just for the sake of keeping it."

Allie but her lip and thought for a minute, before speaking again. "Would your landlord consider selling it to you?"

"Hmmm," Jon hummed in a thinking manor. "I really don't know. Let me give him a call and see what I can do."

"Ok," Allie smiled, before leaning over and pecking him gently on the lips. "Do you wanna stop at the house?"

"Sure," Jon nodded with a smile. "Finish your drink and grab the kid and we'll head out." He gave her a light kiss in return, before finishing his beer and standing to head upstairs and grab their bags. Allie finished her drink and sent a group text out to everyone to let them know where they were headed, before gathering her computer and Moxley and following after Jon.

"Your friend is a smug SOB," Jessie said as Jon and Allie walked back through the door after returning from her, now their, house. They glanced quickly around the room and saw Colby sitting on the couch with a smug look on his face.

"What'd you do this time, Colbs?" Jon asked as he set Moxley down so he could go find Lacee. He looked at Joe and Steph, who were sitting on the other side of the sectional, earning a roll of the eyes from both.

"I didn't do anything," he laughed and shrug in innocence.

"Yea, ok," Jessie mocked him. "He thinks he's God's gift to crossfit. There isn't anything he hasn't done before. I got news for you buddy. My sister could wipe the floor with you."

"Oh, you think so?" Colby asked with a chuckle, turning to look at Allie. "You think you can school me huh?"

"How exactly did I get pulled into this?" Allie asked with a smirk, neither confirming or denying his question.

"Your sister seems to think that you're better than me at crossfit," he said standing up and walking towards her. "I told her I bet there isn't anything that you can do that I haven't already done."

"Think so?" Allie asked in an indifferent tone, folding her arms across her chest. "Sounds like you're getting a little cocky there, Colbs. Do I need to knock your ego back down to size?" She knew they were playing around, but the challenge was real and she couldn't help but play along.

"Oh, I'd love to see you try," he chuckled again, giving her the best smug Seth Rollins look in his arsenal.

"Fifty bucks?" Allie smirked, holding her hand out to seal the bet.

"Done," Colby laughed, shaking her hand. He then folded his arms across his chest smugly as he and the others watched Allie kick her boots off and get into position. Luckily her father's living room allowed the space for this.

The smug look was quickly wiped from his face as he watched her perform a standard burpee, but when her feet came back into a squat she launched herself into a back handspring, then did another burpee. The pattern continued for several minutes, before she stood and smiled devilishly at Colby.

She laughed as she held out her hand and watched while he grumbled and fished a fifty out of his wallet. "Con Artist."

"Thank you," she responded, snatching the fifty from him and giving him a playful nudge. "Pizza anyone? Colby's buying." Colby quickly wrestled her down to the floor and the two began sparring in the living room as the others cheered them on.

It didn't take long for before Allie had him wrapped up in The Kat's Eye much to the amusement of everyone around them. After several minutes of struggle, Colby finally tapped out and the cheering and ribbing commenced.

"Hey, you guys," Steph yelled over them, getting their attention and waving her phone. "Keep it down a minute." They all watched as she took the call, while Allie and Colby continued shove and wrestle back and forth. "We're shipping out in the morning troops."

"What? Why?" Allie stopped suddenly, the distraction allowing Colby to get the upper hand and put her in an armbar.

"You two are like toddlers," Steph shook her head at them. "Since we missed Smackdown, they want us to make an appearance at NXT."

"Shit," Allie huffed, while still struggling in Colby's armbar. "Damn it, Colby, let me go."

"Not until you tap," he taunted her, making her growl in frustration and attempt to wiggle her arm out, only making him apply more pressure.

"Hey!" Colby suddenly shouted, when he was wrapped in a rear naked choke by Joe, careful to not jar Allie's arm. "Traitor!"

"Let her go, unless you want to go night, night," Joe chuckled as he taunted Colby.

"You suck, man," Colby grumbled, but released Allie's arm. Once Allie was clear Joe released his hold and got to his feet.

"Ok," Allie said turning her attention to Steph. "So what's this about NXT?"

"Exactly what I said," Steph responded, as the group all move towards her. "Hunter wants us in Florida for NXT tomorrow. It'll be a good chance to check out how the new blood is doing, plus we'll get to see Sami."

"Fair enough," Allie nodded, then motioned towards the kitchen. "Let's get some food then, since we'll need to head to bed soon."

The next morning, after saying goodbye to Allie's parents and her sister, the group headed for Florida to meet up with the NXT rookies and trainers. Entering the Full Sail University arena, the group was met with an anxious looking Hunter, who, when looked up and seeing the group, let out a sigh of relief and made a beeline for Allie.

"Are you ok?" He asked scooping her up into a tight brotherly hug. Allie was startled at first, because it had been a long time since she had seen this from Hunter, but remembered that once upon a time he had been one of her closest friends.

"Yea, I'm good," she answered, returning the hug. She heard Hunter let out a long frustrated sounding sigh. "Guess Heyman told you?"

"No, I'm pummeled it out of Mark and Williams when you took off without a word," he pulled back to look at her. "Then Lexi called Steph and filled in some other details." He shook her shoulders slightly in frustration. "You know you can always come to me, right? I shouldn't even need to ask that. What happened to us kid?"

"You became COO and I grew up," Allie smirked, making Hunter scowl playfully at her. "You didn't have time for another smart mouthed woman who was good at putting you in your place. You're already married to one."

"Yea, yea, yea," he chuckled, before he began moving down the corridor with an arm around her shoulders and the rest of the group gollowing closely behind. "You'll be making appearances tonight. Steph I'm gonna have you watching the divas matches from ringside. Basically scoping out the up and comers for the divas division. The rest of you are going to run a promo on how The Shield are the future and no one in WWE or NXT is going to stop you."

"Cool," Allie nodded as Hunter lead them to their designated locker room for the night.

"Oh," Hunter said, as they all made their way into the locker room and began to organize their stuff. "Just a heads up, Orton and Cena are here too." Allie felt her blood run cold as her eyes met with Jon's and saw the ferocity in them. Hunter looked back and forth between all of them and gave them a halfhearted warning. "Try and play nice."

"No promises," Jon huffed, before walking back towards the bathroom and slamming the door shut behind him. Hunter sent Allie a concerned look, but was waved off, telling him she had everything under control.

After sending her a doubtful look, he exited the locker room to finalize some details with tonight's show. Allie, ignoring the looks from the other three, made her way into the bathroom to find Jon.

"Hey," she said softly, finding him leaning against one of the sinks. She stepped up behind him and wrapped her arms snuggly around his waist, pressing her face between his shoulder blades.

She felt him take a deep breath and grip folded arms in one of his hands. "Hey," he responded just as softly, but with frustration laced in. "Sorry about that. I keep doing these things."

"It's ok," she murmured against his back. "I think it caught all of us off guard."

Jon turned suddenly and pulled her tightly against him. "You go nowhere alone tonight," he spoke firmly, leaving no room for argument. "I don't need him cornering you or worse."

"Ok," she nodded in agreement, before leaning up to place a firm kiss to his lips. "I love you."

"I love you too, baby," he responded with a kiss of his own, before they separated and headed back towards the others. "Let's head out and find Sami."

Later that night, Allie was standing in catering talking with Sami about the match he had just finished. The guys had headed back to the locker room to change since they had finished their promo and after a small fight with Jon, convincing him that she would be fine with Sami. They had managed to avoid Cena and Orton all night. Only catching a glimpse of Orton when he had been asking a crew member if they had seen Cena recently.

"You're looking awesome, buddy," Allie smiled at Sami and patted him on the shoulder. "I'm so excited you're finally here. Hunter says you've been doing great."

"I feel unbelievable," Sami said excitedly. "Thank you so much for this, Al. This has been an awesome experience so far."

"And you're only getting started," she beamed at him, giving him a hug.

"Excuse me, Allie," a voice came from behind them. Turning they were met with the hesitant face of Saraya Bevis, better known as Paige, the NXT women's champion.

"Hey, girl," Allie smiled and enveloped Saraya in a tight hug. "What's up?"

"Sorry to interrupt, but can we talk?" Saraya responded. Allie could see the frustration and sadness in her eyes.

"Sure, Hun," Allie answered, taking her hand and waving to Sami. She pulled Saraya down the hall and stopped when they came to her designated office. Walking in, Allie and Saraya stopped and stared in amusement at the scene before them.

"Red solo cup

I fill you up.

Let's have a party.

Let's have a party."

The boys were sitting around the room, freshly showered and changed singing loudly. Steph sat on the other side of the room with her face pressed into her hand, shaking her head.

"I swear I found them like this," she said, then groaned when Joe came over and started to taunt her into joining in on the hilarity.

"This is my life," Allie chuckled, before moving her and Saraya to a corner of the room that wasn't being occupied by frat boy wannabes. "So what's up, chick?"

"I don't know, Allie," Saraya groaned in frustration. "I just feel like sometimes I'm moving backwards. I'm not trying to be arrogant, but I'm the best fucking women's competitor down here and they keep sending up chicks like Danielle."

Allie sighed and nodded, "I understand. Believe me, I'm fighting your battle. I'm tired of seeing the stereotypical diva come out of here. I want to see originality. It'll happen, just give it time."

"I just feel like it's always the ones they deem normal that get the chance," Saraya sniffed back tears. "Maybe I just to abnormal to be on the main roster."

"Are you serious? Did you not see what we just walked in on?" Allie huffed a laugh in disbelief. "Have you met the lunatic fringe? Have you seen Colby's hair?"

"Hey!" Colby chimed in from across the room. Giving away that they were all clearly eavesdropping.

"The only semi-normal one in the group is Joe and he can't be all there, cuz he's marrying an anti-diva," Allie continued, ignoring the interruption.

Saraya, despite her emotion, let out a giggle, making Allie smile.

"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring," Allie said offering her a kind, comforting smile, clasping her hand tightly in her own.

"Who said that?" Saraya asked, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Marilyn Monroe," Allie answered patting her hand gently. "Your time will come and you are well on your way. Just go out there and bust your ass like you have been. Nothing can stand in the way of an anti-diva."

Saraya gave her a watery smile and nodded her thanks before giving her a tight hug. They were interrupted a moment later by a loud commotion outside the locker room. Allie stood quickly followed by the guys and walked outside into the corridor.

Looking down the hall, they saw a crowd of people hovering in one area and made their way down to it. Pushing their way through the crowd, Allie gasped in horror at the sight in front of her. Sami was laying face down on the floor, looking like he had just gone ten rounds with Tyson.

"Sami!" Allie shrieked, sliding next to the still form laying on the floor. "Call an ambulance!" She shouted out at the others as Jon knelt on the other side of Sami.

"Sami," he shouted at his friend, amongst the chaos around them. He leaned over him, closer to his ear. "Can you hear me, buddy?"

"Medics are on the way," Joe shouted to them as he moved closer. He could now see on closer inspection the small blood pools laying around Sami. "What do you guys need?"

"Towels," Allie answered hollowly, as she tried her best examine Sami's battered face. Joe took off to retrieve some towels as Steph and Colby did their best to keep the crowd back.

"What the hell is going on?" Came the loud rumble of Hunter as he pushed his way through the crowd. Once he stepped through, he stopped in shock at the scene in front of him before he fell to his knees beside Allie. "Is he breathing?"

"Y- yes," Allie stammered as Hunter checked Sami for a pulse. "We're waiting on the medics and Joe's bringing towels." Allie looked around helplessly as she searched for any sign of Joe or the medics. "I don't know what to do."

"Relax, ok," Hunter spoke calmly to her and reached across Sami to clasp Jon's shoulder, just as Joe appeared with towels. "Both of you, just stay calm, ok? Now what happened?"

"We don't know," Jon spoke, his voice void of emotion as were his eyes, as he held a towel pressed against a particularly nasty cut. He seemed hollow. "We found him like this."

Just then the medics appeared and began work on Sami. "This man's been beaten badly. Did this happen during a match or something?" One of the medics asked as turned Sami over gently, bracing his back and his neck in case of injury.

"No, he had a cut and dry match tonight," Hunter answered the medic, now feeling at a complete loss.

"Well, whoever did this to him has some kind of vendetta against him," the medic responded. "I don't think they planned on him walking away from it."

Allie's mouth gaped at the medic and then looked to Sami. Was he really saying that someone had tried to kill Sami? Who would do that to Sami? Glancing to Jon, she met his eyes and instantly knew. There was no question this was a message.

Allie stood with the others as they loaded Sami into an ambulance and watched Hunter climb into the back to go with him. "He's my responsibility," he spoke when Allie tried to argue. "We'll meet you at the hospital. No arguments." With that he slammed the door shut and the ambulance took off.

The rage inside Allie peaked and she raced back into the arena, ignoring the calls after her. She ran until she came to the locker room she and the others had avoided all night.

Allie, not caring in the slightest about what she was walking into, shoved her way into the lockerroom and looked around finding Orton sitting against the lockers with a hand over his left eye. He scooted back against the lockers as Allie approached him with a sadistic look.

"Where is he?" She bellowed out, making Randy flinch.

"Not here," he grunted out, moving to stand, he could see the blood staining Allie's arms and hands. "He cold cocked me and took off. What the fuck is going on?"

"Your boy is a fucking psycho," Allie growled at him. "He just attacked Sami Johnston and left him a bloody mess laying in the corridor. You tell him the next time I see him there won't be enough doctors on earth to put him back together and if I find out you had anything to do with this, you'll be right there with him."

Randy raised his hands in defense and Allie could clearly see the dark bruise that was beginning to form around his left eye. Before he could respond, however, Allie spun and headed out of the locker room.

"You come with me," Allie said firmly to Jon, grabbing his hand and leading him down the hall. When they reached the locker room, she began hastily tossing their stuff into bags while Jon watched on feeling lost.

"Baby," Jon started, but was cut off when Allie spun around and met his eyes with sadness and fright.

"You told me before that you don't want me going anywhere alone," she spoke with a shaky yet firm voice. "The same goes for you."

"Sweetheart, I know you're scared, but," he was cut off once again, this time by fury.

"But nothing, Jon," she said walking towards him. "You saw what just happened to Sami, because he was alone. Imagine what he would do to you if he ever stumbled upon you alone."

"Allie, I have no problem taking care of myself," Jon argued, but did it with a delicate tone, trying not to set her off further.

"And you think that Sami couldn't?" She snapped. "Sami is perfectly capable of taking care of himself, but that doesn't mean that if Cena attacked him from behind, that he could've done anything to stop it."

She gripped his shirt firmly and tugged on it pleadingly, "Please, Jon. I couldn't handle it if something happened to you. He attacked Sami, he'll have no problem doing it to you. You're the threat, Jon... He attacked Sami," the realization of what had happened finally hit her. "He attacked Sami... He attacked our little brother, Jon."

Jon caught her in his arms as Allie collapsed into a fit of tears. "Shhh, baby. I know. I know," the emotion in Jon's voice threatened to break through as he tried to keep himself together for his girlfriend. "Sami will be ok. You'll see. He'll be back to driving you crazy in no time. He'll be ok."

Jon couldn't help but think that his words were not only an attempt to comfort his heartbroken girlfriend, but himself as well. Sami had to be ok. For everyone's sake.
