I peered around the corner of the hallway leading to the music room and steeled myself.

The Hitachiin twins were laughing as they entered my line of sight, leaning on one another in, surprisingly, non-identical poses.

I stepped out of hiding as they approached, and cleared my throat. "Um, hello. I, uh, was hoping to see you two before club."
"What's this, Duende-san?" The left one asked, grinning widely.
The other wore a matching expression. "Miss us? Don't see enough of us in class?"
"Um, well I—"
"You could just visit us at the Host Club."
I fidgeted. "That's not it…"
"Well, what then?" they chorused.
I twisted the toe of one shoe against the gleaming floor, and looked everywhere but at them. "I was wondering, since you both made such great changes… If you would be so kind as to help me further with my game." The last part came out so quickly that I wondered, briefly, if they understood.
"Alright. We'll help. If…" the left one said.
"If?" I prodded.
"We'll help you, if you can win the 'Which One is Hikaru' game," the right answered.
"I accept," I said immediately.
"This'll be difficult you know," the right twin told me.
"Only one person's ever gotten it right," said the left one, perhaps in an attempt to dissuade me.
I huffed and squared my shoulders. "If it's what I have to do to borrow your genius, it's fine."
"My, my… Such a flatterer," they said, then grinned and turned to go.
"Why do you want to be told apart so much anyway? You guys act so similarly, when you aren't alone. It seems like you don't want people to know." I really hadn't meant to say it aloud.
They turned back slowly, smiles fading. The left twin stared at me thoughtfully. The right twin's brow was furrowed and his gaze was piercing.
"Those are our terms. Take them or leave them. Come on, Kaoru."
