Teen!Klaine, because I read this thing about both of them having braces and being shy of the other… But this time I decided I wanted just Kurt to have them.
Lil' dorks.
Braces
They're sitting on Kurt's bed, watching The Little Mermaid; they're also eating ice cream instead of popcorn because now that Kurt has braces, he can't eat popcorn without bleeding. And he doesn't want to bleed in front of his boyfriend.
The word still makes him giddy, and he smiles to himself, grabbing Blaine's hand as they both hum to the song playing from the TV.
"Is having braces weird?" asks Blaine suddenly.
"Kinda," says Kurt and tries not to be disgusting when he immediately has to swallow the saliva flooding his mouth. The metal feels too big in his mouth and it still hurts, especially when he closes his lips over it.
"My mom thinks I need braces too. I have an appointment on Friday," he says and stuffs another spoonful of ice cream into his mouth.
"Don't worry," Kurt mumbles and stops to make sure he's not drooling all over himself. "It really doesn't hurt that bad," he lies- he doesn't want to scare Blaine.
"Mmhmm."
They watch quietly for a moment, Blaine toying with Kurt's fingers between bites of ice cream. Kurt's butt it going numb, but he doesn't want to move; he's sitting so close to Blaine he's almost in his lap, and that's where he's gonna stay.
"Kurt?" Blaine asks quietly.
"Yes?" he looks up at Blaine, his gaze colliding with Blaine's deep, hazel one.
Blaine bites his lip, looks away and then back into Kurt's eyes. "May I kiss you?"
"O-oh," he breathes. "Um, uh, yes."
And just like that, Blaine smiles shyly and leans in-
"Wait!" he calls, and Blaine opens his eyes and freezes. "Wait, I-" he stops again, swallowing before he continues; "don't kiss me."
Blaine seems disappointed, but pulls away nonetheless. "May I ask why?" he mumbles.
"I- it's my braces," Kurt says, looking at his hands. "I don't want you to kiss me with my braces," he blurts out quickly, before more saliva can gather in his mouth. "You wouldn't like it anyway."
"Why wouldn't I? They're just braces."
Kurt breathes several times, slowly, trying to calm his racing heart, and doesn't reply.
"Do you want me to kiss you?" he asks, his thumb stroking Kurt's hand soothingly.
"Well, yes, I mean-"
"Okay then," Blaine smiles at him softly, and leans in again, slower this time, giving Kurt time to stop him; he pauses about an inch away from Kurt's lips. "Yes?" he asks, and his presence is hypnotizing, his breath gentle on Kurt's face, his eyes sincere and honest. He gives Kurt courage.
So Kurt closes the space between them, presses his lip against Blaine's quickly, sweetly, and pulls back. Blaine follows him with a coy glance, and steals another kiss, and then another, and ten more, and by the end of twenty minutes, they've forgotten all about the movie and Blaine knows exactly what it feels like to kiss a guy with braces.
