This drabble is based on a post I saw once on tumblr. :)

Also! PSA: for the 400th drabble, I'll be posting a drabble every day in the week leading up to #400, starting today! Let's get this going! Woo!

Fancy Meeting You Here

Kurt wraps himself in a hoodie- not the one that still smells like… him, no matter how much he would've preferred that- and heads to the store, armed with his wallet and keys. He doesn't bother with his phone; no one's going to call at two in the morning. Not anymore.

It's only when he gets to the store that he realizes he must look very, very dumb- but he can't turn back now. And he needs his ice cream. So he pulls the hood over his head and goes in.

He looks down when he walks to the large fridge that holds the Ben and Jerry's, cringing when the cold air finds his half-hidden face. He wants the strawberry cheesecake, but reaches for the chocolate instead; he can't deal with the strawberry cheesecake reminding him of Liam, not right now when everything is so fresh, raw and hurting.

Looking down at his hands- they're turning red, cold from holding the ice cream- he contemplates getting something to go with the ice cream, and eventually decides on a bag of Doritos.

He dumps the two items at the cashier desk, and takes out his wallet without waiting for the man to scan them; he doesn't even look up as they beep, passing by the machine, just finds a bill of twenty and hands it to-

Oh shit.

The guy is hot. Really hot- hotter that should be possible while working at a cashier desk at two in the morning. His name tag reads 'Blaine', and fuck it all, even his name is beautiful.

Kurt wants to cry. It's all so terribly pathetic and he wants to go home.

"Is everything alright, sir?" he asks with a kind voice.

Kurt sniffs, holding back tears. "No," he whispers.

"Oh, um. Is there anything I can do to help?"

He just seems so kind and Kurt can't possibly fall in love again so quickly, or even have a crush, and most definitely not date someone. But he still stands a little taller, fixes his hair under the hood, and smiles. "I just had a rough night, but I think it's going to be alright."

When he gets home, he smiles at the number written on his hand, and puts it into his phone.
