* It's been a while since I've posted because I was trying to figure out a way to own Fairy Tail and Vampire Knight. It didn't work.
Lucy POV
It was two days since the portal failed and everyone in the Night Class was still worried about me. It was like they were waiting for me to have a break down or to go into Demon Lucy mode again because of knowing that I couldn't go back to Fairy Tail. I'll admit, I was upset but they were acting like I would shatter at any moment, especially every time Loke or Virgo showed up with a new bundle of letters from Fairy Tail.
The batch of letters I got after I woke up were of my friend wishing that they could see me again but glad that Gray confirmed that I was okay. The next care package was an entire photo album of Gray and Juvia's wedding and a video lacrima that played the whole wedding and reception! When I saw what it was, I had insisted on everyone watching it with me so they could finally see what it meant to party Fairy Tail style!
The wedding was absolutely beautiful with snowflakes falling all down the aisle instead of flowers. When Gray came into the shot, I could see him tugging at the tie of his tuxedo but Lyon was right beside him to knock his hands away so he would stay dressed, and Jellal was beside the other ice mage to keep him dressed as well.
When Juvia came walking up the aisle, I couldn't help but smile at how beautiful she was. Water was flowing all around her so that she didn't even have to walk, she was literally riding a wave down the aisle as she clutched a bouquet of ice roses in her hands. Her dress was snow white and made her look like a princess with her hair flowing around her with more ice flowers in her hair. When she stood in front of Gray, she was beaming with so much happiness that it was difficult to watch without blushing.
The ceremony was simple, just the way Gray would want it to be, but the vows were total declarations of love and devotion, just like Juvia. When the time came to kiss the bride, I was practically in tears and gripping Takuma and Hikaru's hands in a death grip but they didn't complain.
The reception was held at the guild hall and it was a true Fairy Tail style party! I don't know who was holding the recording lacrima, but they made sure to direct it everywhere so I could see all my friends and all the fun they were having together. Everyone talked to the lacrima as well, telling me how much they missed me and that they were glad that I was alright. Then it was time for the first dance, which had me laughing because it was more like Gray dancing while Juvia clung to him. When the song ended, Gray and Juvia turned to the lacrima and smiled.
"I'll miss you, little sister. Thank you for being part of our lives, you always made things more interesting" Gray said before giving me one of those rare smiles that reached his eyes.
"Lucy, Juvia no longer sees you as her love-rival, you are her sister-in-law. You brought Gray-sama back to Juvia and she loves you so much for that," the water woman said as she struggled to hold back her tears. Then they both blew kisses at me and I felt tears slipping past my eyes as I smiled. I was so happy for them!
"This next song is a long distance dedication to Fairy Tail's own celestial spirit mage and the Night Class," Mirajane called out as a slow song started playing. Before I could even ask, Takuma used his grip on my hand to pull me to my feet and he started dancing with me. He was mindful of my burns, which were a lot better but still healing, as he led me in circles. When the song changed, Hikaru swept me out of the blond vampire's arms and into his without missing a step as I kept dancing. I couldn't help but giggle as I looked around the room. Most of my friends were watching me rather than the lacrima now. I ended up dancing with Aidou, Senri and even Loke made an appearance so he could dance with me too and it made me feel like I really was at the wedding reception.
When I finally pleaded exhaustion, we sat together and finished watching the recording. There were other things that really got to me as I watched, and that was how much everyone had changed. It was one thing to see it in pictures, but it was something else entirely to hear the differences in their voices, or seeing the children running around everyone. It really struck me when I saw Wendy, all grown up and showing off the new engagement ring on her left hand while Romeo had her wrapped in his arms.
I couldn't have gone back, I realized as I continued to watch. Even if the portal had accepted me, I wouldn't have fit in like last time. It would have been too awkward and everyone would have felt so guilty for not being able to bring me home sooner. Heck, Asuka would be older than me by the time I got back...
"Lucy, are you alright?"
Takuma's voice brought me out of my thoughts and it was only then that I realized that I had started crying again. I quickly swiped them away as I nodded. "Just wishing for the impossible. But do you know what?" Everyone gave me a curious look as I smiled at them. "It was for the best that I couldn't go home. I love Fairy Tail and they will always be my family, but I don't think I would have been able to fit in if I had gone back; not when I'm closer to the age of my best friends' children. It would just end up being weird. At the same time, I think I was meant to be here. If I wasn't then they would have lost Gray and Juvia, if me being here means that they get to keep them, I'm happy. Plus, I get to make a home here with all of my new friends!"
Despite my cheerful words, Aidou and Takuma seemed worried about me and wrapped me up in their arms. I clung to them, grateful that they were my friends.
General POV
Virgo finally gave Lucy the go ahead to get out of bed and go to class on the third day but was instructed to take it easy. She was glad for that, she missed seeing Yuuki and Zero every night even though it would still be a while before she could go on patrol with them again.
The walk to the academy that night was even more interesting than normal as well. Apparently, with all the confusion, it had completely slipped her mind that St. Xocolatl Day was coming up... in fact, it was the next day! Girls were already attempting to give chocolates to the boys of the Night Class while Zero and Yuuki were informing them that they had to wait until the next day.
It was even more surprising how many guys were there to see Lucy, her disappearance for three days had a lot of the Day Class boys worried that she had left for good even though Takuma had assured them that she was simply visiting family, which was sort of true. Zero had his work cut out for him that day trying to keep the boys back who wanted to give Lucy love letters and chocolates of their own.
"That magical pull of yours just might cause a riot this year," Aidou chuckled in her ear.
Lucy giggled nervously as she pushed the blond back. "I doubt it. I don't even know if I'm going to make chocolates for anyone," she said as she kept walking and waving at the Day Class students who called her name.
What Lucy didn't notice was the disappointed looks on Takuma, Aidou, and even Zero's faces. Once they had known for sure that she was staying in their world, all of them had begun planning how to tell her their feelings. Aidou had already tried to invade her room while she was healing, but Hikaru had made it painfully clear that no one was to disturb her and that any and all confessions were to wait until she was well again.
That night at class, Takuma asked if there were holidays like St. Xocolatl Day in Earthland and she spent close to two hours listing the different holidays that she was used to celebrating. As it turned out, many of the holiday's she knew were the same there and celebrated the same way as well. There were a few holidays that they didn't have, the ones that specifically related to magic, but that wasn't surprising.
After class, Yuuki took her away from the Night Class to see Cross so they could discuss a more permanent solution for her situation since it was now confirmed that she would not be returning to Fairy Tail. She was filling out some paperwork when he suddenly cleared his throat.
"Lucy, I should warn you that we could have someone from the Hunter's Association coming for a visit some time soon."
She stopped writing before looking up at the Head Master. "What does that mean for me?"
"At the moment, nothing since he will be here for a completely different matter," he said as he laced his fingers together to rest his chin on them. "However, you should refrain from using your magic while he is here and I will try to warn you when he arrives."
She nodded before going back to doing her paperwork. When she was finished, she couldn't help but smile. On paper, she was now officially a student from a wealthy family overseas. Her immediate family had passed away and she had been living with relatives until they decided to send her here to Cross Academy, where Head Master Cross has now officially named himself as her guardian. It was strange, but sort of believable.
After she was done, she was walking back to the class room when she saw Zero standing outside on the balcony. She smiled to herself as she climbed out the open window to join him.
"Any Day Class students lurking about tonight?" She asked him as she walked up to stand beside him.
"Not yet, but they will show up eventually. They always do around St. Xocolatl Day," he said quietly as his eyes scanned the area. Then he was looking at her. "How are you feeling? Are your injuries healing?" He asked her. It had been difficult getting the image of her so pale and hurt and the smell of burnt skin out of his memory. Seeing her now, without a visible mark on her made him feel much better, but he still couldn't help but worry.
"I'm doing fine," she smiled as she looked up at the stars. "The medicine that Virgo brought from the Celestial world does wonders, I won't even have any scars. Good thing too since I just started my career as a model."
He nodded, glad that she was physically alright... but what about emotionally? "And what about..."
"I'm not worried about being here, Zero," she said before he could even finish his question. "Like I told everyone else, I wouldn't have been able to fit in if I had gone back. I'll miss Fairy Tail a lot, but this is where I'm meant to be now." Then she turn and smiled up at him. "Besides, it would have been too hard for me to leave all of you behind. Everyone here has come to mean a lot to me, so I don't regret it at all."
Zero clenched his fists at his sides to keep himself from reaching for her. She was just so kind and beautiful and he had missed her for those three days that she had been recovering at the Moon Dorm. Before he could help himself, he turned to face her fully so he could look her straight in the eye.
"I'm glad that you're feeling better and that you're okay with staying here. I would have hated it if you had left for good. You're a great person Lucy, and I'm not just saying that because of that magical pull that you have. And for the record, if you made chocolates for me tomorrow, I would accept them and say 'thank you', but only you." Before she had a chance to respond, he had turned away from her and was gone.
To say that she was shocked was an understatement. Sure, Lucy had suspected that Zero sort of liked her, but she had never thought in a million years that he would up and say what he had. And the fact that he brought up what she had told him about saying 'thank you' for if she gave him chocolates struck a cord with her. So he would only accept chocolates from me... I wonder if that includes Yuuki? It took her a few moments to force herself out of her daze, then she was climbing back through the window and into the hallway.
She was walking down the hallway when she almost walked directly into Aidou. He caught her arms to steady her then got a concerned look on his face when he saw her dazed expression. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," she nodded. "I just... something surprised me earlier and I don't know what to think about it yet."
"Well, if you want to talk about it, I'm more than willing to listen," he told her as he leaned forward and gave her a hug. Lucy had become accustomed to how touchy Aidou could be, but it somehow felt different this time. He lingered a little longer and held her a little tighter than normal. Then she felt his heartbeat speed up slightly before he turned his head so she could feel his warm breath on her ear. "I'm here for you anytime you need me. I care about you, Lucy. And even if you don't feel the same way about me, I'll still care about you because you are that wonderful."
Lucy gasped as the blonde vampire released her and smiled at her. He must have recognized the shell-shocked look on her face because he didn't say anything else as he walked away.
Two confessions within minutes of each other... Wow. I guess I should have expected it from Aidou since he let his jealousy towards Natsu show when he thought I was in a relationship with him. But I didn't think I would get anything from Zero.
Her daze continued as she returned to the classroom and sat down next to Hikaru. When he saw her expression, he raised an eyebrow in question but she just shook her head. He gave her a look that said you-will-tell-me-later and she nodded. Telling him what had happened while surrounded by a bunch of vampires who could easily hear what she was saying was not something she wanted to do at that moment.
When classes were finished, she was walking back with everyone and couldn't help but stare at the stars. That was something that was the same in both worlds and that brought her a lot of comfort. It was a clear night so it was easy to see them shine, Leo's constellation was especially bright that night and she had a feeling that it had to do with St. Xocolatl Day. Maybe I should make some chocolates for Loke and my new friends, they've done so much for me.
"How many constellations do you know?" Takuma asked, bringing her back to the present.
Lucy couldn't help but smile as she looked at the other blond, his head was tilted back so he could look up at the sky like she had been doing. "All of them, it's part of being a celestial spirit mage. If you're going to learn the magic of the stars, you need to know which stars are which and what they represent. It's not only because, as a mage, I might get a certain constellation's key one day. It's because all of them have their own personalities, emotions, and feelings; and I want to be someone who sees them as individuals and not tools like so many other mages have done in the past," she explained.
"You know, before you came here, I never would have dreamed that the constellations had spirits attached to them," Takuma mused as he continued to look up at the sky. "Before you, they were just stars that formed shapes in the sky. But now I look up there, and when I see the constellation of the of Leo the Lion, I think of Loke and I wonder if that's where he is when he's not here with us."
"I used to think that too," she smiled as she looked at Leo's constellation. "But they actually stay in the Celestial Spirit World. It's a beautiful place with so much magic that humans can't survive without wearing protective clothing from their world. I was lucky enough to be there once with some of my friends from Fairy Tail. The Celestial Spirit King threw me a party in celebration of returning after being trapped on Tenrou Island for seven years. He said my friends and I were the first humans permitted to enter their world."
"That's because they know how special you are," Takuma told her, his voice suddenly sounding a little more serious. "Everyone in the Night Class realizes it too, we're glad you stayed with us, Lucy. It might be selfish to say this, but I'm glad you stayed because I would have been sad to see you leave. You bring light to the darkness we know, especially to mine."
She gasped as her feet stopped moving. Takuma suddenly felt exposed for what he said and started blushing. He quickly stammered out an apology and rushed off ahead of her. Lucy continued to stand there as her mind struggled to compute what had just happened.
Zero, Aidou, and now Takuma... I AM SO NOT PREPARED FOR THIS! I just found out that I'm going to be staying in this world for the rest of my life and then the day before St. Xocolatl Day, three of my best friends basically confessed their feelings to me. What am I supposed to-
"So are you going to tell me what's wrong?"
Lucy squeaked and jumped slightly as Hikaru appeared beside her and felt her face heat up. "Well... um, you see..."
Then he nodded. "They confessed to you, didn't they?"
Her eyes went wide for a moment before she nodded. Then she became a little nervous as she looked at the brunette. "Don't take this the wrong way, but please don't you do it too. I like you, but I see you as a brother and a best friend."
"Good, I prefer it that way," he said simply as he started walking. Lucy automatically fell into step beside him, relief washing over her from his words. "So who confessed to you?"
She hesitated for a moment but still answered. "Zero confessed first, Aidou confessed after that, and Takuma did it a few minutes ago. I really did not see this coming."
"Then you were choosing to ignore the signs since you got here," he told her. "It was obvious from that first night that all three of them cared about you more than everyone else, but they didn't want to get serious in case they lost you. Now that they now you're going to stay, they don't want to waste any time in pursuing of you."
Unable to help herself, she let out a groan as her head dropped forward to look at the ground. "I've never been in a situation like this before. I don't want to hurt any of them and have no idea what to do."
"I don't really care about Zero; but as for Takuma and Aidou, you should either let them down easy or tell them how you feel. I am not saying that you should start a relationship with one of them, but don't lead them on." Hikaru told her as they walked through the Moon Dorm gates.
Not knowing what else to do, she nodded. "Hikaru, I know you said before that you wanted me to stay and I'm glad I did, but nothing's changed between us, right? I mean, are you still my friend?"
His steps halted. It was a moment before he spoke and when he did, he wasn't looking at her. "You are the only real friend I have here. I know everyone in the Night Class and I am loyal to Lord Kaname, but I have never been as close to them as I am with you because you are the only one that has shown me kindness without expecting anything in return. That is why I didn't want you to leave, I didn't want to lose my only friend."
Tears stung her eyes as she wrapped her arms around him for a quick hug. "Then I promise that I will be your friend for as long as you want me to be, and even after that I'll stick around just in case you change your mind later."
They soon separated after entering the dorm and going to their rooms. Lucy wanted to get a quick nap in before making lunches for Yuuki, Zero, and herself. She also had to find a recipe to make some chocolates... then she just had to decide on who to give them to.
A/N: The big reveal will be coming up in the next chapter! Who will it be: Aidou, Takuma, or Zero? Read and find out!
