Pillow

It's an impulse buy.

Okay, judge him. He's in New York, and well, he's a little lonely. Can't a guy be lonely?

He spends a week or so trying to cuddle his blanket until he realizes it's just not working.

So one night when Rachel isn't around to fish, he gets on Amazon and types in Boyfriend pillow.

The package gets there two days later- two sleepless, lonesome nights later- and Rachel asks, and he stutters a little and she probably assumes it's just a sex toy, although why would a sex toy have such a large package, oh god, don't think about it, Rachel, just let it go.

And it's just a pillow. It's not human, an actual boyfriend to cuddle with, but it's better than nothing at all. It's soft, and Kurt decides he should probably name it- him- two days into their warm, cuddly relationship.

After a few moments of awkwardly staring at his headless, nearly-bodiless pillow, he thinks, "Blaine," and it's a fitting name and it's cute enough, so he calls it a day, lies down and clenches Blaine to him before falling asleep.

It takes a few weeks for something… weird to start happening.

At first, it's just a cozy feeling when he's lying in bed with Blaine, until he realizes the soft, barely there heat is coming from Blaine. But he's tired and finally in bed, so he forgets about it and just falls asleep.

The second time, there's a flutter. It bothers Kurt because he can't possibly understand where it's coming from and why the hell it's so close to his ear. He's already falling asleep, and it's just a moment before his mind shuts off when he realizes- it's a heartbeat.

Kurt forgets about it altogether after each time something like that happens; it's always so late at night and by the time he wakes, he has no memory of the previous evening.

One morning, Kurt wakes up warm. Almost too warm- has Rachel left the AC on all night again? He told her a thousand times how bad for his skin that it.

He opens his eyes slowly, and stretches his legs from their sleepy numbness. "Good morning, Blaine," he mumbles against the soft pillow under his cheek.

"Good morning, Kurt."

Kurt gasps and jerks away so quickly he almost falls off the bed. There's a boy in his bed. Why is there a boy in his bed?

Well, at least it's a handsome, golden-eyed, dark-haired boy in his bed…

But still, a boy, an unfamiliar boy in his bed!

"Who are you, and what the hell are you doing here?" he says through his teeth.

The boy frowns at him. "What do you mean by that? We've been sleeping together for weeks. I'm Blaine."

Kurt faints.
