"Katrina, these are our… guests they're from America." Kassandra smiled at her sister.
"Oh hello." Her cane tapped the floor lightly as she drew near.
"Let us come to you." Christopher stood up and everyone else followed. Allegra and Luca were first to introduce themselves, then Edwin and Elsie, myself, and finally Christopher. She had let her hands trace over our faces and smiled as we conversed with her.
She was very sweet and had an adorable laugh. She did laugh quite often with what Christopher had said and her fingers traced his face longer than ours, like she was making a permanent mental picture of his features.
For the first time since I could remember, he'd smiled. Whenever he was near her, he did not smirk nor frown.
Later that day, Christopher had taken Katrina to meet Aurora and Solomon. I had tagged along to see my friend, the sister I had when my own was not there for me. The burns on her skin had progressed worse than I was expecting. They now covered her chest and threatened the left side of her face and her abdomen.
"Aurora, Solomon, this is Katrina." Christopher smiled at them. Aurora tried to smile but winced.
"May I?" she held her hand out and rested it lightly on Aurora's forehead then trailed down letting her fingertips gently graze her face then moved to Solomon when she felt Aurora wince. I heard Kassandra cross by the door and into a near by room.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay." Aurora's voice was strained and quiet tried to smile again.
"So, you're the one who stepped into sunlight?"
"Yeah."
"How are you?" She asked.
"I'm fine. May I talk with you and Els—" Aurora was cut off as her wounds began to open up on the spot.
"I think you should leave. Let me doctor her up." Solomon looked to us. He gave me a look of worry. He was devastated.
I was the last to leave shutting the door behind me. As I held onto the door, I felt it. The soft tickle of a vision.
He was standing in front of her resting a hand on her cheek, his expression was affectionate, loving. Christopher looked down at her the light hitting his golden eyes emphasizing their sheen.
"Don't worry, my love. Let me be your eyes." He moved the hair away from her face to reveal Katrina. Her eyes were closed for several moments and when she finally opened them, the color was a mixture of red and gold.
"Blythe, are you alright?" Elsie looked back at me gripping the knob. She placed her hands on my shoulders.
"What did you see?" Christopher knelt down to me.
