Calling You

Fiancé is calling you

Kurt smiles politely at Isabel and Roger and excuses himself, stepping outside before picking up. "Hey, B, what's going on?"

"Kurt."

He doesn't have to say more; the rest is obvious by the quivering tone of his voice, the quietness of it. Kurt's smile vanishes, and he swallows. "Are you home?"

"Yes."

"Okay, I'm coming. Remember your breathing exercises? Go sit in the living room and do them until I get there. I'm going to be there as soon as I can, I promise."

"Okay."

He hangs up and runs back to Isabel with a pale face, babbling about an emergency until she tells him to relax and go home. After thanking her profusely, he runs to the subway station, jumping on the train just before the doors close behind him.

He's home in record time, jerking the door open and running to the living room where he finds Blaine sitting cross-legged with his eyes shut on the couch.

"Blaine," Kurt says gently.

Blaine opens his eyes, and Kurt can see tears welling up in them. He takes a shuddering breath as Kurt sits down on the coffeetable in front of him.

"Do you need to talk about it?" he asks.

Blaine shakes his head. "Jus-just help me, please."

Kurt takes his hands in his. "Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. On my count, alright?" he squeezes Blaine's hand and Blaine nods. "Breathe in, one, two…"

Blaine grits his teeth and breathes.

"Breathe out, one, two…"

He blows out the air through his pursed lips.

"Breathe in, one, two…"

"Breathe out, one, two…"

"Breathe in, one, two, three…"

"Breathe out, one, two, three…"

Kurt keeps going, forcing himself to focus only on the medical aspect of the situation, counting and guiding, until Blaine closes his eyes and leans back.

"Better? Need to keep going?"

"No, no, better now. Just stay, please," he says, tugging on Kurt's hands.

Kurt complies, moving to sit on the sofa and cradling Blaine to his chest. "I'm staying, baby, don't worry. I'm staying right here." He kisses Blaine's hair and pets his back. "I'm not going anywhere, B. Staying right here."
