Happy New Year's! I hope everybody has a great 2014.

I want to thank everybody that has stayed with me and read my stories. I appreciate your support and patience.

And now for a New Year's gift, a mini chapter.

I don't own Naruto.

Enjoy:)

Hinata tried to reach the needles she dropped as she was about to lose conscious. A shriek of pain was heard throughout the jungle. Himawarii had the senbon pierced through her hand, "Bitch, I am going to-"

"Juuho Soushiken," spectral lion heads formed on Hinata's fists as she hit her old friend right in the chest out of the cliff.

"NO!" Hinata reached out to hold her hand just in time but the amount of force she had and the velocity Himawarii was falling down dragged her down. Hinata was hanging by one hand on the cliff.

"You are so weak Hinata, people make you weak," the best friend told the struggling girl.

"Shut up," Hinata grunted, "I am trying to save us." She tried to pull her exhausted self-up but she couldn't.

"Tell me why you did this?" she whispered desperately, trying to understand before they died.

"Because people also make me weak," Himawarii simply responded as if it answered everything, "I fell in love and to prove myself I did this whole thing. Enrolling into the Shinobi exchange and making chaos because he told me he believed in me. I was doing great until you came; I knew you knew I was sneaking out and I had to kill you but I couldn't. Just like you did not want to believe the culprit was me. You made me weak and I made you weak like the love you had for Naruto and your sister made you weak."

Hinata couldn't respond, she only listened.

She kept on talking, "Look at me Hinata."

Hinata looked down at her sweating and crying, "Never love anyone. Love leads to undying loyalty. Do your duty because it is your job and nothing else. People like us, who are loyal and love, always get hurt and thrown away by the people we love too. It is just how it works for you and me."

"Don't talk like you are dying," Hinata pleaded, "I can hear someone on their way."

"Even if they come, the poison in my veins will kill me. I can already feel it burning my insides." She coughed blood out in that exact moment.

Hinata looked at her scared, "Was our friendship real or was it part of the plan?"

"Our friendship was real. Our loyalties were different. Look at where we are at now, both of us are about to die because we couldn't kill each other. So I'll make you stronger so you learn and this never happens to you again."

"What- what are you talking about," Hinata questioned as she was barely holding on.

"Good-bye Hinata, be strong." Himawarii opened her hand and Hinata, speechless, saw a smile on her face as she fell into the ocean's rocks.

A minute passed until she pulled herself with both hands and she laid there waiting for someone to come, "Himawarii looked so peaceful, so free. Free of loyalties, free of sacrifices."

People change as fast as seasons come and go. It was the same for Hinata.

I know it was painfully short but hey, its something.

I hope you guys liked it.
