So this is the chapter.
Honestly, I am a bit scared. I haven't written something in such a long time, I feel like I lost some practice. I also feel like you guys are totally expecting something else. However, I am content with this chapter so lets see what happens.
I also need to apologize to everyone that has waited for me to start writing this once again. I thank everybody for the patience and the comments that everybody has sent me after the last chapter.
I dont own Naruto. Enjoy.
Konohagakure: Three years after Hinata left
A blonde woman in her thirties was sitting in her office eyeing the newly elected Anbu officer and said, "Congratulations on becoming an ANBU. All your paperwork has been finished. The contract indicates that nobody must know about your identity other than I. "
"Thank you so much Tsunade-Sama. It is my pleasure to work for you in the most elite group of ninjas. I am very glad you have chosen me out of the lot to join the ranks, however, I must say I was surprised to be invited after just coming back today," the ANBU smiled at her Hokage with a smile that held many secrets.
"I can't wait to hear all about it," Tsunade said, "but first comes work. Here is your mask; I hope it is to your liking."
The officer looked at it skeptically, "it's a bunny."
Tsunade chuckled at the ANBU's questioning look, "actually it's a hare."
"A hare; fast, agile, flexible, and smart. I guess that's better."
"Well then try it on," and she did as Tsunade continued, "Now, about your partner, which is late, by the way, just like his dumb sensei always is… anyways. He is new like you. I am pairing you up because I have received excellent recommendation letters about you. You are a great leader, innovative, organized, you give more than what it is expected, and gets the job done fast. All of your missions have been a success 100% which is something practically unheard off. You will be able to work with your partner who bases his actions on pure instincts and is brash but who also, like you gets the work done. He is also one of the greatest ninja in Konoha. You know him and I hope-"
A loud bang interrupted the Hokage with someone bursting into the office panting heavily, "I am sorry I am late Tsunade-obachan."
Yup. It was none other than Konoha's number one knucklehead ninja, Naruto. He had definitely grown over time: he was now 6 feet tall, his cheekbones more defined, he had stopped putting tons of gel to spike up his hair which was now naturally down, and he wasn't wearing his horrid orange jumper but the typical ANBU uniform with the exception of the gray vest, which was now orange.
"Why the hell are you late Naruto? And what have you done to your vest?!" Tsunade asked furiously.
Naruto ignored the first question. He wasn't going tell her he was unable to wake up early. Who makes a meeting at 11:00 a.m. That's so early. "Well you know, I thought I could make it more my style. You know, orange is my color."
"Unfortunately," his favorite oba-chan scoffed making him pout. She then continued, "Change that back. You aren't a gennin anymore; you are professional and professionals wear the uniform correctly."
Naruto started to whine but not as much as he would have done when he was younger. Then he turned to the person next to him, a woman who had dark hair tied in a tight bun, a lean body, with no face to be seen. Either way she received a signature grin, "I bet you are my partner, ummm…"
"Siren," the woman responded while she tilted her head.
Naruto raised her eyebrows, "As in the pretty women who drown men?"
She shrugged.
"Uhhh, may I see your face?" Naruto asked carefully. On cue, the woman turned to Tsunade who was carefully watching their little exchange.
"Actually, I was just about to go into that. You can't see her face, Naruto, nor can you know her real name," she said simply.
"Wha- WHAT? Why? She's my partner; I have rights," he complained.
"We made a contract. Nobody can know she is working here. That's all I am going to say so you better deal with it."
The annoyed whiskered man groaned in exasperation, "Fine," he turned to Siren and extended his hand, "Nice to meet'cha, Siren. I hope we get along."
Siren in the other hand eyed his hand carefully but took it after noticing that Naruto still hand it up for more than ten seconds, "Likewise."
"Okay," Tsunade sighed, "Now that that's over with, you can leave. Not so fast Naruto, I only meant Siren."
Siren then bowed and left Naruto to the mercy of the Slug Sannin, "Give me that freakin' vest you moron."
"What? No way! I took hours to make it orange."
"Give me that you little-," Siren closed the door and sighed at the behavior her partner displayed.
Siren was walking through the building with her hands behind her back, she seemed to be taking the whole scenery of Konoha again.
"Siren-san!" someone called out, she turned to see Naruto jogging after her with a gray vest, "Ne ne wanna go eat ramen with me and my friends. You know, to celebrate we made it to the ANBU."
"No," she declared bluntly.
"Why?," he questioned not being shaken one bit since this person acted like his best friend, Sasuke, "It would be a great opportunity to get to know each other."
"We can get to know each other when we train. We only need to know our weaknesses and physical strengths," Siren retorted.
"But its ramen, not Ichiraku's but still good," Naruto said as if that explained everything.
"Listen," Siren stopped walking, "First of all, I don't become friends with my partners; it's against my principles. Second of all, even if that wasn't one of my rules, I am busy. The lady of my compound is coming back after a long time and we are to make a big celebration out of it. So now, if you excuse me."
Siren bowed slightly and jumped to the nearest building to take her leave while Naruto stared at her. He couldn't believe his luck; he had just gotten one of the most uptight people as his partner. He sighed while rolling his eyes at the chick and mimicked her until he got to Narumi's Restaurant.
"Naruto," a pink-haired girl with the jounin vest called, "over here!"
"He is as irresponsibly late as he is stupid," someone next to her commented, "ouch, don't elbow me, woman!"
"Be nice," she demanded, "it's his celebration. AND DON'T WOMAN ME."
Naruto chuckled as he took a seat, "You deserved that Sasuke-teme. Sorry for being late, I was talking to my partner. I asked her if she wanted to come but she just blew me off. Can you believe it? I am the shizz nizz! The hot stuff!"
He only thing he gained with his bragging was a grunt from Sasuke and an eye roll from Sakura.
"Oi Kiba and Shino are there," the whiskered face man pointed at the two figures that were sitting next a boisterous group of drunken men. The bug user and the canine like boy where emerged in a deep conversation and kept on looking at everybody that entered, "we should invite them to sit here!"
Sakura grimaced.
"I did but they said they were busy waiting for someone. Ugh I wish they would kick those men out! Anyways," Sakura changed the conversation, "So how was it? Did you get your mask? Who was your partner and was he good?"
"It was alright, I guess. I got the fox," Naruto smirked at the coincidence, "Ummm, about my partner… she is uptight and very secretive. I invited her here but she didn't want to come. Something about professionalism, sigh, this is going to be oh so fun." He ended sarcastically.
"More uptight than Sakura? I doubt it," Sasuske commented earning a complaint from Sakura. He just smirked as he saw his girl turn red with anger. He cupped her face and looked at her in the eyes, "Why is it that I love it when I see you angry?"
Naruto made a noise of disgust and made a puking face into his glass of water. After working hard to make his best friends to talk and become friends again. At the beginning Sakura was livid and wanted to talk to Sasuke, which actually meant beat him silly for trying to kill her. He had to constantly ask her for dates until she agreed. He then told Sasuke to hang out with him; he locked them up in a room that had a seal on to prevent chakra to be used from within until they talked it out. Soon Sasuke was doing the chasing on Sakura and now here they were.
This happened all the time he was third wheel, which meant always. Sasuke would make a snide comment about Sakura, she would react in an angry, sometimes in a violent manner, and then they would end up making out. Honestly, Naruto was used to it, but he had to admit that he was starting to feel quite lonely. He sighed loudly causing Sakura to slap Sasuke's hand and give him a 'later' look, knowing that Naruto was already desiring someone other than just a friend. She gave him a kind smile and preached, "You'll find someone, Naruto. I'll set you up with someone."
Naruto widened his eyes, "Oh no you won't! Your co-workers are weird, ever since they know about my paternal lineage women only take interest in me for the inheritance. Or they only like me because I am the savior of the world," saying the last part with a girl voice, "It would be nice to know someone who actually liked me when I was a loser. You know, who liked me for myself."
Sakura snorted, "Well you are kinda late aren't you. I bet that ship sailed a long time ago."
Naruto looked at her quizzically. "What are you talking about?" He questioned .
"I am talking about Hinata, you dolt!"
"Even I knew that, baka," Sasuke tossed in.
Hinata. He had not heard the name in such a long time let alone seen her.
"Speaking of which, she is coming back tomo-,"
"Wait, what are you talking abou-
At that precise moment a bang resonated throughout the restaurant, a tar of beer had shattered near the intoxicated men and a timid waitress bowing down pleading to forgiveness. The men reeking of alcohol sneered at her until one of them grabbed the waitress' hand and said, "Well aren't you a pretty thing. We'll forgive you if you come and play with us."
His sleazy hand now traveling to her rear end the girl was about to cry. "What the-," he complained as person grasped his hand away from the waitress and pushed it away. It was a woman with long, silk, dark purple hair, her eyes where those of the Hyuuga, and she was wearing a white crop top, showing her well defined abdomen, with black overall shorts. She turned her back towards the drunk jerk and faced the woman she just helped and smiled at her kindly, "Go and clean yourself; I'll handle this."
"I-I, thank you!" and she ran to get the manager.
Smack, "Hey! The woman around her keep getting better," he had slapped the savior's ass earning laughter from his mates. The turned around swiftly so he can see the fury in her eyes and said with a clipped voice, "Don't ever touch me again."
This made the men laugh harder and the leader grabbed her hand and slurred, "Come one beauty, be nice. Besides, what are you going to do?"
"Well for one you are touching me and touching me without my consent can get you in trouble with the Hyuuga compound and the Hokage. Imprisonment for three years sounds nice, doesn't it?"
The man snorted loudly but his friends were looking more precautious, "Don't think you are pretty fucking stuck up? I am sure you are a no one."
The Hyuuga cocked her head to the side, with a glint in her eyes she said, "Don't you know who I am? I am Hyuuga Hinata, the heiress of the Hyuuga compound."
In that instant the men portrait fear and shock in their facial expressions but none was more comical than the man touching her who started stuttering, "I- I am s-sorry. If I had known-,"
"If you had known I had power and money you wouldn't have done so. But what about that woman, since she isn't me, would you have kept harassing her?" she questioned with anger.
"Please," he pleaded, "I have children. I can't go to prison."
"Don't worry. I will be teaching you a lesson right here so you never disrespect women again," she grabbed his hand and pulled him face to face for eye contact until a loud crack and the howl of the man was heard throughout, "If I hear you touched someone again without their consent I will break the other one! And never value anyone by their monetary or power status."
The observing audience stood up and gave a round of applause for the righteous woman who had just taught the pervert a lesson. Hinata smiled shyly at the customers and stopped to see her two old partners, "Um, I think we should leave."
Both took a second to snap out of it. The girl standing in front of them was a complete stranger. Kiba started to laugh loudly and Shino nodded and the three of them left leaving the scene and Naruto's table.
"Oh my, was that- was that Hinata," Sakura put out, amazed, "She is so… so different! The old Hinata would've probably fainted! Right, Naruto? Naruto? Naruto!"
Naruto snapped his head towards Sakura, "Er, yeah… she sure has changed. I-, "he looked around appearing lost, "I'll be right back."
"Wait, Naruto," the cotton candy colored hair girl called but Naruto was already out the door only to find no one outside the restaurant. Well, no one important, that is.
With Hinata
"Damn Hinata," howled Kiba, "I can't believe you just did that! What happened to you during the trip?"
"Isn't it obvious Kiba? She grew. Why? Because she worked hard for three years to become a better shinobi. With hard work comes prog-"
"Yeah, yeah! I get it Shino. That doesn't mean her personality has to change 360 degrees," Kiba said while Akamaru joined them.
Hinata just giggled, it seemed as if she hadn't left for 3 years, but she had and that had changed her forever, "Come on, Kiba-kun. I am not that different! Just a little more outspoken."
Kiba snorted, "A little?"
Hinata stuck out her tongue at him, earning a weird look from Shino. He was also a bit taken aback by the transformation that Hinata had gone through. What worried him the most was not the change in personality, but the change in her eyes. Even if the past Hinata had always been timid she had this welcoming look on her eyes, but now they showed mistrust. Even if she laughed freely with them, her movements seemed somewhat guarded. He looked at Kiba, who was by his side, while Hinata led the way. The look on his face was pure ecstasy told Shino that Kiba was completely oblivious. Shino knew what Kiba felt for Hinata although he had never voiced his feelings, because Hinata was so dedicated to Naruto. With the change Hinata has exhibit in these few minutes his friend was probably wondering if he had a chance now. Maybe her personality wasn't the only change, but her feelings about Naruto as well.
"Say Hinata, I was wondering if you'd like a welcome party. Something small with all our friends there. Naruto will be there," Kiba probed at the Hyuuga princess.
If Hinata was nervous about Naruto, she didn't show it. "It would be amazing to see everybody once again! A party is a great idea Kiba-kun. Maybe this Sunday, what do you think Shino-kun?"
"I think it is an excellent idea. May I ask why on Sunday? Why not tomorrow?" Shino asked.
"Otou-sama is also giving me a welcoming party, which you are of course invited too! I don't know who else is going to be there. Many rich snobs, I believe."
"You arent making the party sound too great Hinata" Kiba said as he looked at the fancy invitation and cursing, knowing he would have to wear a suit.
"The food will be great Kiba-kun and that is all that matters," she said as they reached the Hyuuga compound. Shino was about to speak but like always he got cut off by someone way louder.
"HINATA, in the name of Kami, what are you wearing?!" a stoic figure stepped out of the compound. Hiashi was looking at his daughter in full distaste at her choice of … minimal clothes.
Hinata turned and rolled her eyes so only Shino and Kiba could see and then she turned to her father and said in the most innocent voice. "I don't know what you mean Otou-sama."
"You are showing everything, you look like a harlot!"
Hinata raised her eyebrow and said, "First of all, I am only showing my stomach which is something both women and men have. My breast are completely covered so I don't see what the problem is there, as for my shorts, well its really hot and my ass isn't hanging. Next, the word harlot is really old-fashioned, maybe should change it like your old-fashioned views.
Hiashi was never someone who showed much emotion, but her daughter standing up to him and her saying the word 'ass' had caused him to gape in complete surprise and do something he hasn't done since he was a child; stutter. "Li-li-listen young lady, you are the heiress of the Hyuuga compound, you are not allowed to dress this way!"
Hinata retorted in an exasperated tone, "Otou-sama, before being an heiress I am a kunoichi. I've worn less clothing for seduction missions and I am comfortable with my body. Didn't you tell me we had to make last minute arrangements to the party? Let's go inside please."
"Se-Se- Sedu- du-ction!?"
She turned to look at Kiba and Shino who were trying not to crack up, "Thank you for walking me back home, I am sorry we couldn't talk much. See you tomorrow," she waved as she walked in. Leaving a shocked Hiashi outside with his thoughts, my princess doing seduction missions? But she is just a baby, my baby. He didn't even notice when his "baby's" teammates bowed with respect and left him there. Who knew Hiashi Hyuuga was so over protecting of his daughter.
"What do you think he was more surprised with, the fact that she said ass or seduction?" Kiba asked to no one as he chortled.
With Naruto
Naruto was walking back to the apartment very distractedly; he didn't notice the villagers that were waving at him or the girls that were fawning over him. He had been like that since the scene Hinata had displayed in the restaurant. He acknowledged that Hinata had always been pretty, but to see her kick ass like that was… hot. He rolled his eyes and chastised himself for his inner perversion, something he grabbed during his travels with Ero-sennin. He now understood his infatuation with Sakura.
He opened his apartment's door and instantly fell to the bed; he had to wake up early tomorrow to practice with his partner. He wished he could have talked to her. Ask her how the trip had been and if she had learned new techniques. The blonde fell asleep with his thoughts; he was soon dreaming of the girl he had seen dancing in the moonlight during his gennin days.
With Hinata
To say Neji and Hanabi were happy is the understatement of the year. Ever since Hinata left something in the compound had happened. It was less lively, even the gardens started to die no matter how much Neji and Hanabi tried to take care of it. The mornings were eerily quiet, since Hinata's soft and delicate voice was not there to hum peacefully. The children cried more often because the Hyuuga heiress wasn't there to tend to their injuries with patience and love. They were excited for her return.
Hanabi had been praying for the safe return of her older sister. Wanting to correct things and apologize for being such a brat all those years. She wanted to have a bond with her sister this time and be a real family. She couldn't wait until tomorrow for Hinata to arrive and see how much she had grown.
They were chatting away towards the kitchen, going over the plans of the welcome party. They stopped abruptly, noticing a chakra that had been missing in their household or three years. They ran to the kitchen to found, a girl –no- a woman, baking cinnamon rolls. For a second they thought it was Hiashi wife, but they soon came to the realization that it was Hinata.
"One-sama," Hanabi exclaimed, "You are back."
Hinata looked up from the tray of rolls and smiled kindly at her sister, "Hello, Hanabi and Neji-niisan."
"Hinata-sama…. What are you wearing," Neji dared to ask which made Hinata frowned immediately.
"I am not going to have this conversation with you as well, Neji-niisan."
"I don't know what you are talking about Neji! She looks HAWT!" Hanabi exclaimed, secretly wishing that she had the same attributes her older sister had.
Hinata giggled, "Thank you, little sister. The cinnamon rolls will be ready to eat in a few minutes."
"Hinata-sama I really believe that what you are wearing is impro-" Neji started to speak but was soon cut off by Hinata, who kissed him in the cheek and placed a glass of water in his hands. He blushed profoundly at this.
"Neji," she said, cutting off the honorifics, "please be a darling a give this to Otou-sama. You'll find his at the main gate. I am afraid he has been standing there for quite a while.
She this glint in her eyes that the only thing Neji could do was nod his head and look for his uncle.
Hinata entered her room; it had been a while since she was here. The first day with her family had been exhausting. They asked her millions of questions and her father had wanted a demonstration of some of her new techniques. She showed him the jutsus that did the least minimal damage; he still had to see her with the weapons. Hanabi looked at her like she was the world now and that sort of creeped her out, but it was satisfying at the same time. Her father and cousin had tried to start a conversation on her new choice of wardrobe, but nothing really budged her. Hinata then made the final changes on the party with her family over tea. She sat down on her bed carefully remembering all those times that she cried on it. The time she felt like she was unworthy of part of such a prominent family. When her mother passed away and left her all alone to the glances of hatred the others gave her. She shook herself, stopping herself from pondering through all those memories.
She laid in bed, ready to go to sleep as she had to wake up early in the morning. Her mind was still fully awake with her thoughts as she realized that her family didn't see the real change that had happened within her. Not that it was important, her family never knew the real her. She was different now and that is all that mattered. No one was ever going to bring her down again, she would show them. She was going to walk past everyone that had made her feel unworthy, and for once they were going to see her back and never catch up.
So yeah. That was all lol.
They didnt get to talk today but she made a hella impression.
Everything well be slow, no one is gonna fall in love from one day to the next.
There are still many secrets to uncover. You guys have no idea how frustrating is going to be... for you guys. It will be fun for me.
Thank you for reading.
