THE BOOKS FINALLY CAME IN THE MAIL! OMGGGG I'm gonna die...I can follow it along again! :) WOOO!
Nobody else's names were like this.
It was meant to embarrass no one but us.
More specifically, me.
"Tris and Peter up!"
As I walked to the arena, I was snickered at from around the room. I was no longer known as Peter, the antagonist, but the guy who was dumped by a previous Stiff.
When I entered the arena, I wondered how I was going to hurt her. It was going to be hard.
Before I could think, Tris came into arena, her arms guarding her upper body. She certainly seemed more ready than me.
"Don't hold back." She said, crouching into a fighter's position.
Was she kidding? Teasing me for the audience, or was she willing to get hurt for me? I pulled my arms up to my abdomen and crouched, just as she did.
"I didn't plan on doing so." I said, attempting to play along.
It must of worked, because she came closer and before I knew it, we were circling each other.
She was the first to swing. On instinct, I ducked and punched her in the throat. She gasps for air but quickly recovers. My eyes widen as I realized this was the first time I physically hurt Tris.
"Are you okay?" I quickly asked, looking into her eyes.
She swung again. "You aren't doing a good job at this!" She said, aggression clear in her voice.
What did she mean? The fight barely had began, and I got the first hit.
It struck me. The relationship. I was doing an awful job at hiding it.
I tried my best to get back into my character.
While I was distracted with my thinking, Tris got the chance to lay a punch. I stumbled back but returned quickly. I gave her a blow to the stomach, and somehow it didn't stop her. She swung at me once again. I was able to catch her arm and throw her onto the mat. She acted as if she felt nothing and threw herself right back at me. She punched me in the jaw and kneed me in the stomach. I let out a pain filled groan and grind my teeth together.
I punch her in the abdomen and in the jaw. This time, she slows down. My attacks have gotten to her. I take this advantage to punch her in the jaw again. To my surprise, she ducks just in time. She throws a kick and I catch her leg. I yank her leg until she falls onto the floor.
She grabs her leg and slowly gets up.
We circle each other again, like we did at the beginning of the fight, neither of us attacking.
"We don't have all day," Four calls, a bored expression on his face.
I elbow Tris in the gut, throwing her pattern off. I hit her in the jaw once again, this time making her bleed.
It wasn't my injuries, but my guilt that slowed my down. I saw my girlfriend clutch her jaw, and remembered that I was the one to cause it.
I couldn't let my love for her show, but I couldn't taunt either. I wasn't sure what to do.
I sharply kick her in the stomach, making her groan in pain. She grabbed my hair and roughly yanked it. I pulled her arm and threw her too the ground, once again. She wiped a thin layer of sweat off of her forehead. I frowned. I was upset at her for telling me to hurt her.
But even more upset at myself for doing so.
She didn't get up.
Or bounce back at me, like she usually would.
"You win." She said, raking a hand through her hair.
I exited the arena quickly, to guilty to help her up.
For the next stage of initiation, it was no longer a small room with one monitor too see what goes on it my mind, but multiple screens, and a slightly bigger chair.
I walked to the chair, hearing many "Good Luck"'s and "Be Brave"'s.
I smiled in every direction that I heard it from.
Because I knew that I would need it.
(I'm reeaalllllly sorry if you were looking forward to that scene. Excuse my laziness I might come back and write it. I skipped it.)
I was going to visit Tris in the hospital.
Considering it was my fault she was in there, it would be the right thing to do. The secretive part of our relationship could wait.
I opened the door a crack and peeked in.
I saw Tris in the hospital bed.
As soon as she noticed me, she signaled me to come in. I entered and closed the door. I was surprised to see that she was the only one in the room.
"Christina and Will visited earlier. They had to leave early too. I think they're a couple now." She said, blushing.
I groaned at hearing Christina's name. "What about Al?" I asked coming closer to her bed and sitting in the chair next to it.
"He didn't visit yet." She said, tucking a strand of hair away.
I sighed. "Good." I muttered under my breath.
Tris smiled at me. I looked at her. She had multiple bruises on her jawline, where I often struck, and a busted lip. I could only imagine the bruises on her body.
She saw me staring at her injuries. "It's fine the doctor said-"
"I'm sorry." I interrupted her. "It's my fault that you're even lying in a hospital bed." I said, softly stroking the bruises on her hands.
She cupped my cheek. "It's fine." She said, slightly smiling. "I told you not to hold back." She continued. "I'm glad you didn't."
I was confused. "Wait, if you wanted me too win, then why'd you fight back?" I asked.
She shrugged. "I thought it would fuel your anger and make you fight harder."
I smile back at her and placed my lips against hers.
I tasted blood, but I didn't care. It was the first time I got to kiss her today. I felt her body shake from laughter under mine.
Before I could pull away, I heard the sound of a door opening and a small gasp.
I instantly knew it was Al.
